Centuries ago, the sorrow of a spurned mermaid cursed the ocean. Now the fate of the sea rests on the shoulders of her great-nephew, Prince Caspian of Atlantis. Upon inheriting his ancestor's magical voice, he is also entrusted with breaking her curse by finding true love with a human. But Caspian doesn't believe love comes at the swish of the tail, at least, not until he meets oceanographer Stefan Firth.
In spite of the bond that forms between them from the beginning, Stefan's skepticism and his heartbreak over a lost love keep him from even considering a relationship with Caspian. Caspian has no choice but to follow the path his great aunt once did and resort to the Sea Witch's assistance. He must help Stefan love again if he is to break the curse and bring them their fairytale ending.
ALANA ANKH is a hopeless romantic. Once upon a time—no, not in the Stone Ages, but when Alana was a nosy teenager—she lived and breathed mainstream romance, but after she discovered m/m…. Well, her fate was sealed.
Regardless of the genre, Alana thinks love can be painful, heartbreaking, but also fun, corny, and a little silly. Love is different for everyone and anyone—and in her books, she tries to celebrate that.
Alana also loves sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal. But even if her boys have scales, fur, claws, fangs—or whatever else occurs to her—they’re really very nice people. Most of the time. Well…. Most of them are nice, but all of them deserve love and a HEA.
When Alana isn’t feeding her addiction to happily-ever-afters and hot men, she’s randomly slaying monsters in MMORPGs or thinking up the next idea to share with readers.
I LOVE me some mermen stories, and good ones are so hard to come by. Thankfully, this IS one of the good ones! I loved the Little Mermaid lore mixed into this, together with a contemporary setting. I liked the characters (Phil the dolphin!!) and reading about Caspian and Stefan falling in love. You definitely have to suspend belief while reading this (even aside from the, y'know, whole merman thing haha) but it's like a modern fairy tale and I really enjoyed it. I do wish there had been more between the final chapter and the epilogue since there was such a jump ahead in time, but I really loved this!
Meh. This is just a little too similar to Disney's The Little Mermaid. I thought there would be some twist or kink or something fresh to add a different spin but that is not the case here. If you can imagine Little Mermaid meets Splash and replace the female with a male, you've pretty much already read this book.
Oh ♥ Merman are hot :D I really liked the book and it was the exact perfect read for me at the moment ^_^ An old tale, rewritten with an HEA that just fittet ^^ So why not 5 stars? I wished it had been longer . A few more chapters to really get into the book and the characters ^^ maybe a bit more about the merman family? :) I'm greedy ~~~
However: I really enjoyed it :D Short, captivating, definitly nothing happened the way I expected and a lot of fantasy elements ^_^ I'm happy and looking forward to the next book? ♥
I really like this book it was very additive and i started and finished it within the day. The characters were great and believable it had drama, loving, sadness and a happy ending. I did think it could have been a little more detailed at the end though, It was at a good part of drama then went to five years later with little explaination of what had happened. Overall a really good book and here's hoping to more maybe one for each of the five brothers!!.
I just really, really, really, loved this book. It's plot is exciting and the writing style is exquisite and I thank the author for promising a happy ending to her fairy tales because the characters definitely deserved it. Caspian is the Great grandson of the little mermaid. The ocean has been cursed and only the love of a true mate can break the ocean's curse (oil spills, toxins, etc..). There's so much to this story plus it kind of follows along the guidelines of the Little Mermaid. Oh and I most definitely can't forget about Phil, the dolphin friend of Caspian. That is just so precious since it's not often that I run into a dolphin named, Phil. :D. The characters were portrayed beautifully and I pretty much liked them all except the sea witch, of course. This was my perfect bedtime fairy tale with a very perfect ending to me. :)
