If you can find this book, read it. It’s short and plays out like a made for TV movie, but has all the great suspense you’ll want and the setting of early 80s Cape Cod makes it all the better.

And not just set in the early 1980s but also written, there’s quirky and out dated nostalgia you likely forgot about all along the way.

Sears was still Sears-Roebuck, teenagers used a telephone relay to tell all their friends, and an after school club watched movies from a projector.

The setup for this story isn’t original and some of the dialogue feels cliche now, but in 1982, I have to wonder if it was tired then or if this would have been considered fresh young adult action.

I did enjoy the murkiness of it all. The uncertainty of what was happening was nicely paralleled with the ocean, the marsh, and the storms of Springtime.

“Do you see what I see” is a better book than the title suggests. But to its credit the title gives nothing away about what is about to take place. So it has that going for it.
