Captain Kyuk welcomes death when his ship is destroyed. He doesn't expect to survive, but when Cori and Reiyn find him, instinct pushes him to live. He's spent years smuggling slaves to freedom—can he now give up his own liberty to bond with Cori and Reiyn? Or is he too damaged to build that kind of emotional connection?

Another very entertaining addition to the scifi erotica series. Reiyn is half human and half Xyran, while Kyuk is a Xyran but from a really low-status. Cori is a girl that we met in Broken. Very strong-willed heroine who suits perfectly the two males.
The story starts as MF and ends as MMF like most stories in this series.

I have a soft spot for Sci-Fi menages, so it was easy for me to spot this story. But one word caught my eyes: damaged.

Damages (or damaged) means high maintenance, means conflict, means emotions. I like my characters handling those because it is often a good sign of interesting interaction between the characters. And I was right.

The story started MF and ended MMF. I am not fond of this sequence but it worked for this story. Although I regret a little bit that the author did not add a chapter for the third character in order to develop his personality. When the third character was introduced, it was borderline for me to consider him the third wheel and therefore the falling in love was a bit rushed in my opinion.

But all characters were lovable. Cori, the heroine, was a survivor. Reiyn was a lost soul and Kyuk a lonely one. I particularly enjoyed the heroine who was not whining about the past. She had scars and fears but the other two males too. Out of the three characters, I am not sure which one I preferred. I think I was hooked when the heroine did not fall in love immediately. It was lust at first sight all right but love was more obscure and I liked that.

I am always upset when the authors rush the feelings. I think it is way more enjoyable to read the love story step by step, to understand why the characters are falling in love and not because of great orgasms or a big dick. It is difficult to balance eroticism and romance and some author do not fuse both smoothly. I know this is a book of fiction and everything is allowed in a book of fiction but if a story is not credible, I feel as if someone is trying to make me believe the unicorn exist. I do not like perfect characters. I like them with flaws. I like them struggling, conflicting, high maintenance. The easy lust/love at first sight bores me. Maybe I am a bit too much jaded in real life to completely forgot that when I read a book? This said, Erin M. Leaf did a great job not rushing the feelings.

The plot was original but a bit too convenient. Everything happened too easily at the second rescue party. Everything else was credible, except this part. But considering it is a short novel of 94 pages, it was well developed.

The only things missing were the past of all characters. I would have like to know that more in order to fall completely in love with the characters. Knowing how much they suffered would have add some extra tension and depth into the romance in my opinion. I am thinking some flash back maybe.

Sex scenes were good too. Not much of MM. The story focused on the heroine mostly. The author was more focused on romance rather than sex.

Conclusion, I liked this story and I recommend it.

Short-ish dystopian sci-fi fun. There is minimal angst. There is also blood and gore. I liked it. It features a bonded-blood-mates thing, which is what I was in the mood for. Mindless sex scenes with some suspense thrown in.

Hang on to your seats, post-apocalyptic times with war, alien domination, and burned-out planet surfaces provide the background for this space opera. The tension, including confrontations with species having little to no love of humans, moves at a good pace, but the real winning feature is the connection and follow-up by a rough and tumble gal with two intense and sexy guys. Sounds like a winning formula to me. Excitingly carnal!

Corazan, Cori, is the lead female in this exciting drama. An initial unnerving connection during an information exchange, an anxious space rescue, and a brutal confrontation against a longstanding enemy may feel like it’s all in a day's work for Cori, but it really never is. Cori's early life story involves being held prisoner by one of Earth's most violent enemies. She sidesteps a fairly brutal side of her capture since she is underage. Luckily, a compassionate, friendly, and deft fellow slave choreographs an escape for them both. From that moment on Cori's life is as a mercenary helping to free additional captives. Dynamically engaging!

Reiyn is half human and half Xyran. His Xyran nature is naturally dominant and requires exacting discipline to keep under wraps. Survival and great heartache are his constant companions, but he is steadfastly persistent in his desire to stay alive and aid in the rescue of those less fortunate. So his freeing of slaves gives him purpose, direction, and balance. Surprisingly to him, he is rather attracted to Cori with whom he has business dealings. In addition to being quite moved by her demeanor, he eventually gives in to her stalwart position that she won't sell her ship, when it is a vessel Reiyn must procure as soon as possible. So Reiyn accepts Cori's terms for the use of her ship with her as the primary pilot. Prior to their departure and much to the surprise of each, Reiyn engages Cori in a super steamy sexual encounter. Ah ha! A taste of things to come. Splendid sultry seductiveness!

Kyuk is the starship captain in trouble and much, much more. He is a Xyran but from a really low-status of warrior hardly different from the slave class. So it is very impressive that he makes it to his current status. However, he faces a catastrophic reversal of fortune and is forced to utilize a hidden escape route he installed on his ship. The odds of survival are really low. Yet not only is he relieved to be rescued, but he is overwhelmed by a reunion he thought was an impossibility. Oh my, Kyuk is also very drawn to Cora in a manner that feels almost predestined. Splendiferous!

For me, the whole concept of bonding is at first difficult to comprehend or embrace as natural. However, within this delightful story it not only resonates but powers the dramatic denouement with an exciting and feverish passion that provides for each person in this triumvirate love, peace, and a meaningful direction for the balance of their lives. A bright and shining liaison for the ages!

Erin Leaf continues to amaze me. I've read quite a bit of her work by now, but I never seem to grow tired of it. All of her stories capture me and hold me tight until they end, and truthfully, I don't ever really want them to end. All of her plots and characters are well thought out, and very well written. They have adventure, action, and lots of sex and romance. If you as me, that's the perfect combination for a perfect book.

"Damaged" has all of those qualifications and then some. The heroine, Cori, is angry and determined to get away from the slave trader who captured her and sold her into the life of a sex slave on a distant planet. Our heroes are strong, protective men who are not only fierce in battle, but also in their love for Cori. They're lovers, and they want her to be "blood mates" alongside them. Boy, does that make my heart pound a little faster! Cori, Reiyn, and Kyuk have wonderful chemistry. The book isn't very long, so their union happens rather quickly. It doesn't feel rushed in any way, though. The plot of the story alone sort of demands it, actually. Their bonding, and eventual love for each other, is sweet and sexy. Very sexy!

As I said, Erin Leaf stories have lots of action. There are battles, explosions, and rescues, and they're woven together very nicely. It's all necessary for the plot to move forward. As I was reading it, I was able to visualize all of it. All of the details, right down to what the ship's bridge were provided but not overwhelming. I KNEW what the characters looked like. I KNEW what the planet had become after all of the devastation. It seems that "Damaged" read like a movie, but not a boring screenplay.

I highly recommend this book. Erin Leaf is an incredible writer. I count myself as a HUGE fan. I enjoyed this so much, and I think you will to. READ IT!

I'm loving this series! I've read all of them but one, I feel that they can be read as stand alones. There may be a bit of back story needed but if you read them out of order, I honestly don’t think it will matter.
Xyrans are warriors, violent and blood thirsty, their mission besides being destructive is finding slaves. On the Xyrans planet your wealth and honor is in how many slaves you have.
Cori is supposed to make contact to get the information back to her people. Knowing her past as a captured slave in the hands of the Xyran she has no love for them.
When she meets Reiyn and a situation comes to him needing a ship, she will take him where he needs to go but is not willing to give up her ship.
Reiyn knows and has been keeping his Xyran side hidden for years, his control is unquestionable. That is until he meets Cori... it doesn’t take long before he has her slammed up on the outer hull of her ship and sinking in her heat. It doesn’t stop him that they need to go, they have no time for such a interlude.
Of course when Cori doesn’t get many answers from Reiyn and then finds out not only is the male they rescued a Xyran, Reiyn himself is a Xyran.. ok well half human.
When Kyuk is awaken from cryo, the first person he sees he thought dead for a long time. His blood bond mate, time stops for both of them as they both try to come to terms with seeing each other again.
As I said I loved the entire series, its intriguing how the books are written by different authors. Its fun and exciting. Pretty much a quick read though not really a short. The characters are more than likable and a few emotions were touched on, Passion being hot and consuming.. Awesome … Enjoy

This was a wild ride, presumably because I just kind of plunked myself down into the middle (or end?) of this series. I was therefore pretty confused about some things - the author did a pretty good job initiating me into this 6th book, but I didn't understand the significance of some things, and I think that made it lose some of its appeal.

I've been on an Erin Leaf binge read - what bothers me about her sex scenes? The term "prick". Sorry, but no. Dick, yes. Cock, yes. Penis, yes. Erection, yes. Prick? No.

Also, uhm, this was crazy short. The action was pretty exciting, but still not quite enough to pull this book up to a 3 star.

Luckily for me these can all be read as standalones as I am not reading them in order. This one was as good as the previous ones I've read with a short but intense story about a woman meeting her alien mates.
