The dragons on Mistveil Island are not your run-of-the-mill kind. They’re something else entirely…
Change is coming to our island, and I’m not completely convinced it’s for the better. At least, not where I am concerned. Twenty human Tributes will arrive soon. All female, all young, all healthy. We’re hoping that they will settle in and, moreover, that they will be willing to entertain the idea of mating with our eligible shifter males. That, given time, they will want to stay and make a home here. It is our only hope of for the continuation of our species.
I am one of the chosen males and I’m not exactly thrilled about it. As the king, I am obligated to produce an heir. The Council has been quite clear on that particular front, reminding me at every turn. The pressure is mounting. I need to take a mate – the sooner, the better. It’s been years since my female died in my arms… But it may as well have been yesterday.
I’m not ready. I’ll never be ready. I have no choice.
I have to do what is expected of me. I am the Red King. I must stand as an example to my people. I still think it’s a mistake. Especially when the threat to my life is still very real. Especially with all the uncertainty surrounding the two islands. My own brother is at the heart of everything. I know it! I need answers and yet, I’m expected to take a wife, to start a family. It couldn’t have come at a worse time.
As royals we are bound by duty, and this is no exception. I will pick someone, but my heart will never beat for another again.
This story contains mature themes/language.Also, be prepared for a ton of growls, dirty talk and a hard-won HEA. Hulking, skulking, foul-mouthed, brooding dragons ahead. You were warned!

This is a real spicy fantasy read. It has a unique magic system that I really liked. It's fast pace & keeps you wanting to turn the page. I recommend it.
King Arctic & Paisley. I went from "the audacity of this man" to rooting for them cause, Duh 💁🏾♀️lol!! I was an impossible situation 🤷🏾♀️ but oh that HEA was so worth the wait.
Gotta say, the contrast between "the Dragon Tributes" on Draig Island and those on Mistveil Island are like night and day!
That ending felt rushe and incomplete. I don't want the series to end, but I have to know what the mainland has to gain by pitting these two islands against each other!!
The Reds on Mistveil are getting their very own Tributes on the island. Arctic has volunteered for the Programme to show the others that this is the way forward for their species. Unfortunately, for Arctic, it doesn’t quite go as plan and soon he seeks out Paisley, a nurse on staff to help with the Tributes😊
Loved this story and the characters. So nice to discover more about Arctic and Paisley and their pasts, and why they are so good together❣️I’m hoping we see more about Arctic’s brothers and them finding love with a Tribute in future books🙌 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️🩹
Such a fantastic story and a great addition to this amazing series! King Arctic finally gets another love after quite some time but it doesn’t quite go as planned! Mistveil is starting their own Program with Tributes to help with their species growth and Arctic is a Candidate even though he doesn’t want to be. He wants his followers to realize this is what they must do and the Council wants him married with heirs. He is actually attracted to their new nurse, Paisley, which is the first time he’s felt anything since losing his mate. These two are kindred souls as they have both lost a lot. Paisley also hasn’t been in any kind of relationship for a long while. These two are absolutely perfect for each other! I absolutely love how Paisley is so straight forward and sassy! I just get a thrill when I start a new book by this author because I know it’s going to keep me captivated and on the edge of my seat to see how things pan out and this definitely did! I absolutely loved this story from the very beginning to the last page! That ending though! Can’t wait for the next story in this series to see what happens next! Amazing read that I very highly recommend! This is my honest opinion of this complimentary copy of this book
This is book one of a duet, it seems. We are back on Mistveil Island, where King Arctic is trying to root out the bad guys who worked with his brother Ice to overthrow his rule. Unfortunately, his team is still working on getting information from Ice’s laptop, which is problematic. The new female human tributes are headed to Mistveil in a couple of days. Steel, Arctic’s head of security, is worried about Arctic’s life and the new tribute program. Arctic has already made good choices for the tributes by hiring staff, doctor, nurse, chef, and concierge to support the human females and help them become more comfortable and want to stay. There is a beautiful surprise for Arctic in the form of a smart, intelligent and strong willed woman named Paisley. She challenges the King at their first encounter and he secretly welcomes it. There is a happy ending for now, but at the end of the book it does seem to show a second book that will feature King Arctic. Read On!
This is a captivating read, a great read with Paisley and Arctic at its heart This was another simply fantastic read that I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of and Paisley and Arctic are a pair that are simply perfect for each other and they have both known what it means to feel loss and heartache. This pair have known each other for a long time and it has taken such a great deal of ups and downs for them to finally get to a point that they even consider an actual intimate relationship. The story continues with the dragons on Mistveil and that comes with all of its own fun and games. This is a simply captivating read and I guarantee that you will be blown away by the cliffhanger that will hold you captivated between its pages and I guarantee that you will love this read. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
First off I loved the book ! Paisley and Arctic are perfect for each other . They both have suffered loss, and it’s taken them years to get to point that they are open to having sex, supposedly a friends with benefits type of relationship, but that doesn’t go exactly as planned. The storyline also continues the Mistveil Dragon tributes and that comes with all it’s own fun and games . But , and their is a but ; I Hate Cliffhangers and Charlene had better get book 7 out asap ! We need our happily ever afters for our Tributes, and they are still at risk, so get us book 7 and more information, please . This is definitely a 5⭐️ read. The editing is fantastic and the storyline kept me reading straight through from beginning to end all afternoon ! I received an ARC from the author and I am choosing to leave this review.
Paisley needs a change in her life especially after running into her ex’s new wife in the grocery store and finds out that they are expecting. You because her ex left her because she couldn’t get pregnant. So she has taken a new job on a island but there is a big twist. And before getting on the plane she has to make a big decision. But she wants a adventure so she goes. Arctic is the king of mistveil home of the red dragon shifters. They are getting ready for 30 women tributes to come and meet the shifter. But the staff meets Arctic and Steel And Thorn that’s when Paisley first see Arctic and there might be a attraction. Soon they can’t resist each other but it’s against the rules and after being caught she mush leave the island. But things are still happening. So enjoy this good read and see if they get a HEA!!
Picks up right where we left off. We found out who was responsible for the coup and attempted assassination of our MMC and they go to trial where the sentence is determined. We have our FMC Paisley and she is recently divorced. She’s having a rough go of it and is looking for a change. She sees that an island is looking for nurses and she applies. The salary is double what she makes but it’s not until she signs an NDA that she finds out why. The job is on one of the dragon isle. This is a fast pace, short, and to the point book. There is plenty of drama to keep you engaged. You’ll see the end coming before it happens but the last few paragraphs will leave you on a cliffhanger.
I absolutely loved this story, Both Arctic and Paisley were wonderful and caused no unnecessary drama but had a wonderful story of second chances at love. Also her besties both on the island and off it were great, women lifting women! I’m definitely thinking Mistveil is the better island, probably only until we get another story from Draig lol. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
I absolutely love Arctic and Paisley’s story! Charlene does an amazing job with the banter and interaction between Arctic and Paisley! I love how she is able to weave the topic of infertility into the Paisley’s story. We do get a HEA for this couple but we are left with a bit of a cliff hanger for the next story! I’ll be interested to seeing where the series is headed!
Loved the story line. I enjoyed the characters and the backdrop drama reminds you there is still a mystery to be solved behind the relationship story line. I was able to predict the challenges and eventualities but I loved reading it as it unfolded. Great follow up and I cannot wait for the next one in the series!
Having red each book in the series, I can honestly say they are amazing. Action, great character building and they are steamy. If you like paranormal and dragon shifters you will not be disappointed.
One of my all time favorite shifter books! I love Artic and Paisley. This book has it all, love, steamy scenes, danger, tough emotional issues and humor. I couldnt put it down and literally groaned out loud when it ended. It is so good I never wanted it to end.
If you enjoy dragons, shifters, paranormal romance and seeing good win this book is for you. Get the series and start at the beginning. I’m looking forward to book 8. Bring it Charlene!!!
Wow! Way better than expected. Writing was fantastic. Fast paced and well written. Loved the main characters and the baddies. Now I have to read the rest of this series.
This has been a great series but this book is my favourite by far. Even though King Arctic had been seen in previous books this gives a full insight into his character. His history with his mate, his brothers and shows how great a king he is. Paisley comes to Mistveil as a nurse to look after the new Tribute programme that has been set up. She has her own history and confidence issues but once these two meet it causes both of them unexpected turmoil that they need to resolve. The dialogue between them was brilliant veering from extreme emotion to hilarious. The next book will be key to the whole series I’m thinking and I can’t wait
Welcome to Mistveil Island, the home of dragon shifters.
There aren’t enough female shifters, and most babies are boys. To fix this, they teamed up with the human government to bring women to the island in hopes some would marry the male shifters. (the shifters happen to be handsome, muscular, and have tattoos)
This is how Artic, the King of Mistveil Island, meets Paisley, a nurse. There is a need for a nurse for the women, and Paisley accepts the position. (I really liked how she wasn't afraid to stand up to Artic when everyone else was too scared to say anything.)
During orientation, Paisley worries about how the women will be introduced to the shifters and mentions it. Artic brushes off her concerns and suggestions, and as a result, something goes wrong. (yes, I'm purposely being vague) (they shift into dragons to show the women their dragon side)
Artic and Paisley start to pay more attention to each other when he asks for her help with fixing up the program to get it running smoothly. (I liked that he was cool with her making any changes she thought were necessary, no questions asked)
Eventually, they decide to help each other work through the pain of his wife being killed and her husband being a total jerk and bailing on her. (Things get pretty steamy and intense between them)
The program is going really well, but then things get messy when another employee who has a crush on Artic threatens to spill the beans. To dodge any fallout from the whole situation, Paisley decides to just pack up and head back home. (that employee was a b#tch from the beginning of the book)
He catches her off guard by showing up to share his feelings, and then she hits him back with a surprise of her own. (It was a sweet way to give them a happy ending)
There are definitely some events involving Artic and his brother; he has plotted to kill Artic off page, and face his punishment on page. The drama plays out all through the book. (this part of the story started in prior books in this series)
I get that I’ve skipped some characters and stuff, but honestly, where's the fun in giving away every little detail?
Just a heads up: there are some heavy topics in this story, like off-page murder and on-page death sentences. The main female character also deals with some serious fertility issues that are discussed.
