Sinbad, a rich young man who wastes his fortune, must set sail from his home in Baghdad to earn a living as a merchant at sea. In his travels, he encounters violent storms, fearsome whales, giant birds, and an ogre who threatens to destroy him. Yet even after Sinbad regains his wealth, he returns to the sea seeking more adventure. Will Sinbad overcome the dangers he faces? Or will his thirst for adventure lead to his destruction?
Voyages of Sinbad is one of my favorite stories. I have read 10 different versions probably. This one was my least favorite. There was no details at all and the stories were manipulated! The two stars goes for the illustration
This graphic novel was sufficient in recounting Sinbad's many adventures as detailed in The Arabian Nights. It was a graphic representation where the artwork was of a high quality and was colourful. The book was easy to read an follow and was finished within 20 minutes! I felt a bit short changed at the end of the boo and wished the stories could have been more sophisticated. But its source material was from The Arabian Nights and had to remain truthful to the original book. I feel 4 stars is appropriate for this book.
“Sinbad: Sailing into Peril” “He was ready again for adventures ...” Tales of Sinbad going on a series for sailing expeditions – each time all his crew die leaving him alone, ending up downstream to a village, gets riches, rescued and returned home. Hit repeat! Different to tales of Roman and Greek gods who connive and trick and are/were brutally jealous.
Very good series giving a generalised overview of the predominant myths and legends that have shaped our worldviews. - - -
