Holiday Mail Order Brides #6

Love in Independence

Rate this book
They say love covers a multitude of sins, and for matchmakers Mercy, Martha, and Maude, it’s a good thing! Fearing the town’s new pastor is lonely, they decide to take matters into their own hands, and order him a mail order bride! Imagine his surprise when he finds out? Only he doesn’t! Mercy, Martha, and Maude see to that!

Winnie Longfellow has spent years caring for her sick mother, and now that she’s passed, has nowhere to go but her Aunt Eugina’s. But her aunt has other things on her mind, other problems to deal with, and so Winnie accepts a proposal from a pastor out west looking for a mail order bride. Little did she know, he was looking for so much more, anything more! He had no idea he’d sent for one! Now Winnie finds herself at the mercy of three madcap matrons, determined that love will find a way. Despite multiple misunderstandings, a horrid bully/gossip, and a woman she’s sure her intended will marry instead of her, Winnie discovers some things about herself, and finds that love really does find its way …

Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!

NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.

This one had me laughing out loud "at work". I love these Kit Morgan, "Holiday Mail Order Brides" books. I started off reading them per holiday instead of in order, now I'm on the right track. In this installation, it's coming up to the 4th of July and our heroine, Winnie Longfellow is arriving (of course) from New Orleans. Only this time, she's not part of the orphanage but her Aunt owns the Mail-Order Bride Company. Her aunt talks her into responding to a letter from a widowed preacher and become his wife, since Winnie has no other family except this Aunt. There was only one problem, Pastor Luke Adams didn't write the letter and request a mail order bride, the town's three middle-aged busy bodies did. Mercy, Martha and Maude thought the pastor was lonely and that would keep the other town's people from gossiping, if he had a wife. We have the town bully who wants her beautiful daughter Eva to marry Luke, so she stirs up trouble. The funniest secondary character is Betsy and she had me laughing out loud. Since I have the audio version of the book, it was easier listening to Winnie's stutter than having to read it. Overall, one of the best in the series.

Another fun read in this series, 14 books in all. Winnie’s taken care of her mother for years. After her mom’s death, she travels to New Orleans. That is where her aunt is. The only family she has left. Surprise, that aunt runs THE mail-order bride shop. Winnie is whisked away as the next would be bride. Luke is the new minister to a very small town. He left Chicago after the death of his wife. He never wants to marry again. His work is enough for him. Three of the town’s upper citizens feel that a preacher must have a wife to help him with his work. But of course Luke cannot find out what they have done or their husbands will have a fit. Enter Winnie. Then there is the town busybody who believes she knows best about EVERYTHING. see how this plays out. I enjoyed this story

What happens when you put three meddling women together? A mail order bride for the the town's new pastor! No matter that Pastor Luke Adams had no idea who the young lady was that arrived in town. I loved, loved, loved this story and laughing out loud at the three ladies Mercy, Martha & Maude and also the maid Betsy! Michael Rahhal is amazing, I seriously do not know how he does the different voices so seamlessly. He truly has an amazing gift.
I love this town and the people of Independence! A dominant over the top mother who is determined to have Luke marry her daughter, pushing them together as much as she can.
I want to tell you the entire story but you really need to read or for a really great experience, listen to the audible.. Truly amazing...

I'm enjoying each of these by Kit Morgan ! I started with the first book and each has kept my interest throughout the book . I loved how the three ladies ordered a bride for their pastor lol. So sweet now I'm expecting them to appear in more books :) . I'm in love with Kit's writing style and can't wait for each of the next books . This author is another reason I have my Kindle unlimited account. It's worth every penny so I can read all these books with just a click of a button! Bring in more mail order 👰 Brides Kit Morgan I'll be first in line to read them lol. I think I have hundreds of mail order bride books to read and the ones by Kit Morgan are first on my list !

I found this book discounted via Freebooksy
There are several scenes that are completely hilarious, especially when talking about working for Mr. Smythe. To end this story with fireworks, on July 4th of course, the ending in the office is extremely amusing. Of course, in between you get a lot of misunderstandings, mainly because the other person doesn't want to know. Got me thinking how many times I do that; I don't want to know your personal stuff so I can understand that bit. This is one of the best ones in the series. Loved all the characters, even the villains.

Mail order bride surprises unsuspecting groom.

The mail order brides are some of my favorites. This one just was adorable with the situations that Winnie found herself in and being pushed into. The story moved along very well and was very entertaining. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Sweet (small spoilers)

This is a sweet story full of well-meaning meddlers, admirable self-sacrificing individuals, both blossoming and enduring love, confusing misunderstandings, and an ineffectual bully who gets her much deserved comeuppance. What more could one ask? I enjoyed the story, perhaps you will, too.

I listened to this book on Audible — the narration was not the best for me, but it didn’t distract from the story.
I had a hard time keeping all of the town “biddies” straight in this book, but that really wasn’t a deal breaker. The story was still a cute one.
I will continue to read this series as the times arise!

I enjoyed reading this book about 3 women who decide their new pastor needs a wife. So they send for a mail order bride without his knowledge and pretend it is him writing. Of course, this causes some trouble when Winnie arrives and the women try to hide what they have done. Lots of laugh out loud parts throughout as well as misunderstandings but all ends well for everyone.

Not your usual mail order bride story

My first book from this author and am I glad to have found her! This is a lol romance with people who mean well but are interfering with the lives of others and trying to keep it a secret, especially from their husbands. Love the town and characters. God does indeed use mysterious ways to guide us. Highly recommend.

Love in Independence

After losing her mother, who was her last parent, Winnie went do see her very last family member, her Aunt in New Orleans. Her Aunt ran a Mail Order Bride service and she knew her niece should not stay in town since it had gone through changes after the war.
The Pastor of Independence, had no clue his life was about to change with the arrival of Winnie.

Greatly enjoyable

This is one of the best and thoroughly entertaining books I have read recently even though it did cover some loss and sadness.
The final outcome, however, was a lot of love.

Comical story

This story was sweet with some humor sprinkled about. There were too many POVs for my taste, and some quick changes within a scene, but it was a cute story with a cast of varied and wild characters.

A Sweet Clean Romance Story!

Such a sweet story of two falling in love especially when one of them wasn’t even looking for anyone. Meddling sometimes can turn into a happy ending. This series has been perfect for the holidays.
