Όμως, κάποιο θανάσιμο μυστικό έρχεται από τα βάθη του παρελθόντος και απειλεί τη μια από τις τρεις. Σάλος ξεσπάει όταν ένα από τα κορίτσια κατηγορείται για φόνο. Ποια, όμως, τον έχει διαπράξει και γιατί; Και ποια τελικά θα κληρονομήσει τα εκατομμύρια των Μάουντζοϊ;

Probably 2 1/2 stars. In 1938 three eighteen year old girls of different nationalities and very different backgrounds are summoned to London to be launched into society as debutantes. Sparky, dirt-poor Eloise (Honeychile) from Texas, clever, flirtatious Anjou from Paris, and feisty horse-mad Laura from Yorkshire are illegitimate descendants of the late Lord Mountjoy. Made over and dressed to kill, the girls become the toast of the social season. But a deadly secret from her past is about to catch up with one of them in the most unexpected way. Scandal strikes when one of the Mountjoy girls is accused of murder. But which one did it? And why? And who, ultimately, will inherit the Mountjoy millions? This book got off to a great start. Unfortunately it only kept up the momentum in fits and starts, with long, rather dull, periods in between. Not really recommended.
Really great read, interesting concept and excellent execution. I especially enjoyed it because of the time period it is set in. I also really loved the plot twist in the end ;)
The only comments I have are: 1. It would be nice if there was more resolution for Anjou. I did not really feel like learned anything from her actions. 2. I really think that Honeychile should have ended up on the ranch with Tom, thats where she grew up, thats what she loves. Throughout the book she is portrayed as this strong and independent woman who is hard working...but then she does not go back to her farm. That did not make sense to me.
Read quite a while ago. I enjoy the saga-type novels of this author.
