Considered an authority on death, near death, and the afterlife, Atwater has written a book that gives details and deep insights into what really happens when you die and what it truly means. She also explores such mysteries as heaven and hell, the souls’ existence after death, the power of prayer, and delves into the truths and myths about death that may shed new light on the real truth about life and living.

Another wonderful exploration into the realm of the unknown, Near Death Experiences. I enjoyed reading this and listening to what I felt were honest interpretations of what was seen. The author looks at death as simply a graduation process into the next life, which is very positive and has a new age feel to it. I like how some of the bullet points are outlined with pertinent information (such as on how to address people dying and ways one can help). The book had some great pointers for looking at how we live our lives as well. Worth a read, definitely similar to many of the other accounts I've read.

Outstanding

This is probably the best book that I have read around near death experience is why we live the process of dying. Death is just stepping into next room until we come back again.

Amazing book. Incredibly touching and insightful. Atwater talks about her own 3 near death experiences and what she learned from the death of her granddaughter. After her own near death experiences in the 70's Atwater has devoted her life to researching and interviewing people who have also had near death experiences. One of the best books you can read on this subject. I liked it so much I'm now reading her book "Beyond the Light."

This book made me uncomfortable but it was still interesting. It appears that Atwater believes in a generic God, not the Lord and Jesus Christ. She speaks of many dimensions of Heaven and Hell and claims we create actual energy fields by our thoughts/auras. We have past lives, she says, and possess spirits and souls. Spirits are communal energy whereas souls are individual egos with emotions. We can linger as ghosts who need permission to leave. This is pretty radical and fascinating reading, but not in line with my actual beliefs.
