They walk among us, weave in and out of our lives as they see fit, pushing us towards calamity. Who they are today may not be who they are tomorrow.
I am drawing a line in the sand, one they crossed long ago.
Having now learned that every betrayal, every tragedy I've faced in my life was orchestrated by exiled angels, I'm tired of being manipulated. And not only me, but also my friends and family. There's no such thing as freewill. We're all just pawns in a giant chess game for the fate of eternity. I desperately wish I could walk away. But at this point, I can’t, and I refuse to stand by any longer and watch people get hurt; watch people die.
The exiled plan is becoming clear, chaos and destruction across the globe. Everything we think is senseless, these are all just tactics from the exiles to turn humanity against itself. I'm left with no other alternatives. But how do you infiltrate an enemy when you can't trust the face or identity of anyone? Yet, I hold out hope. I have an exile on my side, a double agent if you will, who can no longer stand idly by.
So this is it. Charlotte Grace is going on the offensive. I may not be much, but you better hope that I'm enough.
NYT Best Selling Author for the anthology Wicked After Dark!
I have been a fan of realistic fantasy all my life. The idea of alternate explanations for the mundane, fascinates me. As a woman with deep southern roots, I am not one who is quick to dismiss the otherworldly. However, the idea that our world isn't as big and foreboding as it seems, also plays heavily into my writing.
I am the author of fan favorite cliffhanger series, The Charlotte Grace Series and The Empathy Delacroix Series. I have also written a novel, The Underground.
Ashes is book 3 of the Charlotte Grace series. When I started book 1 (Smoldering Embers), I had no idea what sort of emotional journey this series was going to take me on. It mainly follows the same three characters - Charlotte, Wesley & Olivier, in a mostly subtle supernatural story. I say mostly subtle, because the majority of the time, except for the dynamic of one of the main character's backgrounds, you would have no idea this is not just a normal human contemporary story - in a GOOD way! There are extra people of course, like Paige and Tristan, etc, but the three are the 'center' I would say.
There were so many twists and turns that it took me until the end in order to grasp the entire storyline and how the loose ends tied up! In fact, I was close to the end last night, and at the point I stopped to go to bed, I found myself with tears flowing over the bridge of my nose onto my pillow! I could not stand it. I had to get back up and read more because I could not stand to leave the story at that point!
I can honestly say I fear I will never have a series affect me in such a profound way again! PM Briede has written a superb series and I will forever be a fan! (This coming from a person that was reluctant to start on a series with the same main characters for so long.) I feel that you must read from book 1 through 3! While you might pick up on the storyline, this is not going to bring the best enjoyment! You must follow the entire journey, and you will NOT be sorry you did.
This was an INCREDIBLE ENDING to the Delacroix series. I've read most of the books by P.M. Briede now and this series has now topped my list. I stayed completely engaged reading this story, loved the way everything tied back in together, was left content with the outcome (even though it was a heart wrencher!), and couldn't have fallen more in love with a set of books.
Adore these characters! I guarantee that you will find AT LEAST 1 to fall in love with, if not all. These are personalities with morals, loving selflessly, and who remind you what love means, even if the world seems to be falling apart around you.
Though the ending leaves a few facts open for the reader's interpretation (rather than concise facts), this allows the ideas to swirl in your mind. Everything concludes as it should, but you get to decide what happens in regards to the "what-if" scenarios P.M. gives you.
I'll definitely be rereading these in the near future for fun (and I don't do this often with many series) because I loved it that much!!
This is the 3rd and final installment in the Grace Series. This series had me hooked since the beginning of book 1. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. At first I tried to space out Ashes, to make it last. But I was SO involved with the story and the characters I couldn't put it down. I finished it within 24 hours, just as I did the 2nd book. It was an amazing ride. At a point I was in tears for Grace. So much happened, good and bad. I have so much to say about this story line, but do not want to give ANYTHING away to those how haven't read it. I will tell you this, if you're looking for a series that has you captivated, make you laugh, make you cry, then give the Grace series a try. You will NEVER know this was her first books ever written. Thank you P.M. for allowing us a chance to get to know these people.
This novel does not work in chronology and I loved that about it. All of the reader's questions get answered, but in a fashion that surprises us all. The triangle between her and her men not only had her unsure, but brings the reader into her realm of indecision. It was an amazing end to an already fantastic series. I am often quite disappointed by the last book in the series' I read, and I am quite elated that this was not an example of that. I felt as though I was part of Charlotte's life, listening to her heart and mind and truly wanting a good outcome for her and everyone in her life.
Ashes was the conclusion to this wonderfully captivating series. It was just as great as the last two books in the series. The only real complaint I have is that I am sad it is over. One of the best things about this book (well all of them really) is the amazingly well written plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. I am really glad Ms Briede wrote this series and am looking forward to any other books she puts out.
What an emotional rollercoaster this series took me on! I'm sorry to see it finished, and I'd definitely read a spin-off series. This book was the best of the series! Action, adventure, love, torture, you name it, this book has it! It took me a few days to come to terms with the ending, which is why I'm just now writing a review. I needed some distance. If you haven't read this series, get it. Read it now!
I have read every book in the Charlotte Grace series. I love them all but ASHES is the best one yet. PM Briede weaves paranormal characters and plot lines with masterful skill making you believe that it all may be possible, somehow. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a spell binding read.
Well this put me through a bloody ringer of emotions! Fantastic ending to the series! The only down side is that I've fallen in love with them all and don't want the series to end - but that is just proof of how wonderful it is I suppose. Now that I've stopped laughing / crying / cringing / shaking I suppose I will have to move on ... but it was a wonderful ride!
Ashes, the final installment to the Grace series was just wow! Just like Wild Fire, it started off where WF ended. It always kept you wanting to know what's next, so it was hard for me to put down. It had me always at the edge of my seat! And the ending? I didn't expect that I'd get that emotional! There were tears!
P M Briede did it again in this final chapter of Charlotte Grace and her life! Still filled with intrigue, mystery, and romance...This time she even had to throw in some heartache!! This book...This series...should be a required reading for every reader!!! I am absolutely in love with this book...This series...and this author!!! Well done...Amicus!!

Love the whole series, but I found this third book in the trilogy to be a great surprise. The twists and turns were awesome. Kept me guessing. Love all the characters and kept my attention riveted. Well done PM Briede!
This book completely threw me through the ringer! When you think you have Charlotte, Oliver and Wesley all figured out she throws something else at you! P.M. Breide is magnificent! She had this way of bringing her characters into your world! Definitely a must read!
What a great end to a great series. A series full a romance, suspense, and paranormal. I have to say I wasn't so sure how much I would like this series because it is so different that what I am use to. However, I really enjoyed it and all the twists and turns along the way.
Wow! This was a wonderful end to the series and is my favorite of the 3 books. The author keeps you guessing and does an amazing job telling the story. If you liked the first two books in the series, then you must read this one!
Finished the Grace Series!!! These are fantastic books that keep you guessing with the twist and turns. If you love paranormal I know you will love this series. It is even better that all three books are out so no waiting to find out how the story ends. :)
Wow!!!! What a rush. Just starting to read this book had me salivating for what was to come!!! P.M. Briede really had me at the very first word of the very first book of the series. I loved this love triangle of Charlotte, Olivier, and "The Whelp". This book was extremely exciting. Just had me wanting more and more! In fact, I am finished and wondering- MAY I PLEASE HAVE MORE!!! There are some strong images in this book that might trigger someone that has been violated. I just need to give a warning. This book was really amazing and she really did a great job of keeping me wanting more. Thank you again !! You have a NEW fan with me!!❤️
After reading the first two books, I opened this book with great anticipation and I was greeted to a wonderfully written, well crafted story. I did not want the story line to end and in a way, it did not.
I really enjoyed the skill that was used in dealing with all the parts of our three main characters, Charlotte, Wesley & Olivier. There were twists that tossed this reader for loop and left me shaking my head but loving every minute of it.
I look forward to reading many more works by this author.
The best thing about waiting to read a series until all the books are written and released is being able to sit and read them all one after the other. Which I most certainly did.
This the final installment in the series and it is nice to see how it all ends and what happens to them all.
I have to admit, yes I cried at the end.
I thought these books were all very good, not something that I would normally read but good nonetheless.
