Note: This is a pretty intricate series so I’ve explained the reading order at the bottom of this review.

Melody Grace is one of those authors who I can always count on delivering the goods. While her Beachwood Bay series is formulaic to an extent and embodies many NA clichés, I don’t give a rat’s ass about it because IT.WORKS. They’re scorching hot and make me fall in love with the idea of love. They never fail to put a grin on my face. They just work for me.

description

“One week. No rules, no limits, just us. I can save you from this unrequited love of yours. And you…you can save me from myself.”

This book is about Dex and Alicia’s whirlwind romance, a trope that very rarely appeals to me yet worked wonders here. From the prequel it’s revealed that Alicia harbors an unrequited crush on a certain guy (sorry, can’t say because it’s a spoiler here) and seeing this guy move on with the girl of his dreams absolutely devastates her. All her life she’s been the sensible one, the woman who’s always considered the consequences first before the results and it didn’t get her the guy she wanted. In one rebellious, reckless gesture, she lets go of her inhibitions and has an amazing time with tortured bad boy rockstar Dex. They both realize there’s something more to their one-night stand and they strike a bargain: spend one week alone together. He’ll help her forget her unrequited love and she’ll help him forget his horrific past. Both never expect to fall in love with each other with all the baggage they carry.

description

This book could arguably be my favorite book from Melody Grace. Sometimes simplicity is incredibly appealing and she rocks that theme. Whirlwind romances are predictable so I loved that these characters repeatedly surprised me while I watched them fall in love. Dex is AMAZING – what a dirty talker! Alicia on the other hand…well first, I do like her sensibility and practical side but there were times I got annoyed she kept clinging on to her crush rather than see that the patient, lovable, and sexy guy Dex was right in front of her. Oh, and one other thing…

The sex.
THE SEX!!!!!!!!

description

Throw in some dirty talk, some...unconventional rendezvous places and wow! And that’s all I’m going to say about it ;)

The ending was a tad bit rushed but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this one! It’s a book with plenty of sweet, spice, and emotion – an irresistible combination! Loved it!

"This is it, everything I've ever wanted. The love, the passion, the partnership. I just never saw it coming, not like this. Not like Dex."

****************

There are a couple of reading orders and any one will work; however, I strongly recommend reading the whole series. Who knows? You just may fall for the other characters too! ;)

Reading order 1 - the recommended route:

Untouched (Beachwood Bay, #0.5) by Melody Grace Unbroken (Beachwood Bay, #1) by Melody Grace Untamed Hearts (Beachwood Bay, #1.5) by Melody Grace Unafraid (Beachwood Bay, #2) by Melody Grace Unwrapped (Beachwood Bay, #2.5) by Melody Grace Unconditional (Beachwood Bay, #3) by Melody Grace Unrequited (Beachwood Bay, #3.5; The Callahans, #1) by Melody Grace

Reading order 2 - the middle route:

Unafraid (Beachwood Bay, #2) by Melody Grace Unconditional (Beachwood Bay, #3) by Melody Grace Unrequited (Beachwood Bay, #3.5; The Callahans, #1) by Melody Grace

This order includes all the books with Alicia cameos

Reading order 3 - the efficient route:

Unrequited (Beachwood Bay, #3.5; The Callahans, #1) by Melody Grace

This is the prequel.

Congratulations to myself! (What? Of course I can do that right?)

Here's the worst DNF of my life. 4%. 4 fucking %.

I thought I was strong, but I can't deal with it. I can't. Not now anyway.

Maybe, I mean maybe one day, when I'll be able to stand a guy who decides that a girl is his HOPE and his SALVATION (what with this word anyway?) 30 seconds after meeting her (and I'm feeling generous here) maybe, that fucking day...

Who am I kidding? It will never happen.

Just for the fun, here's the quote that made me stop.

"And I realize this girl is my only hope. My shot at salvation, the only thing that will keep me from oblivion again."

At 3%. After a kiss. And three words exchanged where the heroine shows how different she is. You know, because she's not a slut. *roll eyes*

Alicia
In love with her best friend from college who is getting married to someone else, leaving her heartbroken. She is organized, predictable, does not like to be reckless or live life without plans.

"I don't do crazy."

Dex
Sexy world famous rocker. Stopped singing a year ago and is hiding out in his beach house. Blames himself for the death of a friend and even though music is in his soul, refuses to sing anymore.

description

The two cross paths in a alley, where Alicia is crying over her broken heart. Dex immediately mesmerized by Alicia makes her an offer to spend one week with him. Alicia does not take him up on his offer right away, instead waits a few months before she calls him.

“I have a place at the beach, away from everything. Spend one week there with me, and I swear, I’ll make you forget this other man is even alive.”

“Think of it as your first lesson. The only way you get anything in this world is if you reach out and take it. Every break, every chance I got, it was because I reached out and grabbed with both hands.”

They start a passion field relationship while trying to mend each others hearts and making them forget why their hearts are broken in the first place. Alicia tries to save Dex from himself and guide him back to his passions, while Dex tries to make Alicia open her heart, be free and careless.

description

This is a beautiful story. My first book by this Arthur, and I was really impressed. I loved how the story played out, just wish it book was longer. I really could of used more of Alicia and Dex in the end. I would recommend this book to everyone, I mean who doesn't love a sexy rocker??

This was a nice pleasurable, steamy read and exactly what I needed to get me out of my book funk. I enjoyed the writing and liked that the story was on the grittier side of sweet. I think I'm definitely due a return visit to Beachwood Bay.

Title:Uninhibited
Series:Beachwood Bay #4; The Callahans #2
Author:Melody Grace
Release Date: July 21, 2014
Rating:4 stars
Cliffhanger:No
HEA:

This book starts off right where we left off in Unrequited. After their fast and sharp burst of passion, Dex and Alicia are left staggered by what they believed to be one night of comfort. Now they're feeling anything but comfortable just walking away from each other.

Alicia is used to order and simplicity in her life. She likes being careful and rational-always doing the right thing her whole life. Taking that leap with Dex and doing something so unlike herself has her feeling scared and uncomfortable and even though she feels more alive than she's ever felt, she runs.

Spontaneity came as easily as breathing for him, when for me, it went against every careful instinct in my body.

There's nothing wrong with being cautious, but her inhibitions have left her unable to experience life to it's fullest. It's bland, boring, and getting her nowhere. She has a wonderful career, a lovely home and a loving family, but no excitement. No one to share her life with and make her feel alive.

Dex leaves his offer open:

One week with him.
He'll teach her everything about passion she's been missing out on and make her forget all her heartache.
And maybe she can help heal his as well.

After that one night, she tries to forget about him and resume her life, but now it's as if her eyes have been opened after a long sleep. Everything is so clear to her-how she's been stuck in life and never going after what she really wants. And this time, she's not letting him slip away. When they reunite, those same feelings are there two months later. Dex helps her open up and be more honest and unafraid of what she wants. He helps her see that maybe she wasn't so in love with Garrett-maybe he was just her safe bet. The man she could never have. The one she never had to risk anything for. She certainly never felt this intense need for him like she does with Dex.

Dex was just as hot as ever. Sexy as sin with a filthy mouth and all he wants to do is make Alicia happy. Because she sure soothes his soul and lift some of the guilt that's been laying on her shoulders. She doesn't run from the mess that's revealed to her. She comforts him. She stays. And she makes him feel like maybe he can let go of his inability to seek happiness.

He clutches me like the world is ending, and I'm the only thing that can save him.

"I forgot how you do that," I manage to say.
"Tell the truth?"Dex looks amused.
"Talk dirty," I correct him.
He laughs. "Oh baby, that wasn't dirty. Not even close."

They couldn't get enough of each other, in any way. And I have to say, I enjoyed every bit of it. There was a fierceness to their passion, but emotionally, they were so exposed like never before. They could see each other. They could reach each other and give comfort and they quickly see one week isn't going to cut it.

While I easily gave this 4 stars, there were some things that I would have changed. I wish their getting to know each other phase would have been more than one week. Their feelings developed pretty insta-ish
and though it still worked for me, many wouldn't care for it. This is one of those instances where it didn't bother me...much. The plot also didn't offer much that was fresh as far as the rockstar genre goes, not really any surprises, but enjoyable and enough to whet my appetite for the other Callahan siblings' stories. She did a good job leading up them and giving us a little bit of what's to come. I look forward to more from this author in the future.

Uninhibited is another hit from Melody Grace, I loved this! I’ve said this before, I‘m a BIG fan of Melody and the Beachwood Bay series. Uninhibited is the beginning of a new direction for the Beachwood Bay series. This part of the series called The Callahan’s will focus on The Callahan siblings, past favorites from the Beachwood Bay series will still be in this new part of the series.

We first meet Alicia Wright in Unafraid. Alicia is all about doing what she thinks is the right and safe thing to do. For years she has been pining away for a man that is completely unaware of her feelings for him. To Alicia he is the perfect man, the only problem is he is about to marry someone else.

Bad boy rock star Dex Callahan has given up everything, music, fame, girls and partying. Now hiding away from all that, Dex is still hunted by events in his past. A chance encounter between Alicia and Dex leads to a night of passion, which you can read all about in Unrequited. One night is not enough for Dex, he needs more of Alicia. Dex offers Alicia one week of passion and she’ll forget all about her perfect man. Wanting nothing more than being able to move on from a man she can’t have Alicia accepts. The one week spent together turns into more than just passion, secrets are revealed and feelings grow deeper but will Alicia be able to let go of her safe perfect life to be with someone who makes her feel crazy with passion and alive.

Uninhibited might have been Melody’s hottest book yet. Dex and Alicia were steaming up the pages. The chemistry between these two was hot!!!! I completely fell in love with Dex in Unrequited. He is a sexy rock star with a very dirty mouth! :) I can’t wait for Unstoppable. Tegan Callahan and Ryland James’s story should be very interesting and I need it like now!!

Alicia and Dex agree to spend a week together for her to get over her crush. This book was incredibly HOT! I loved Dex and Alicia together and did not want this book to end. Dex is so hot! I loved him! This is the first book I have read by Melody Grace and I just absolutely loved her writing - I can't wait to read more. Fantastic!

It's not a DNF. It's nothing against the book or the author. It's just that I can't seem to get into this book right now. Sometimes the timing sucks. I don't want to read it and hate it because I wasn't in the right frame of mind while reading it. So it's best to put this aside for now.

It doesn't mean I won't revisit this book in the future because I'll definitely will. :)

~~ 4.5 "Holy Hotness" Stars ~~

This book should come with a warning about needing a fan and some ice cubes while reading!!! This book was smoking' HOT ;) This series just keeps getting better and better with every book that Melody Grace releases. Her writing, to me is flawless. Her stories always suck me in and keep me interested all the way through. She creates such great characters that you never want their stories to end. She also knows how to create a love story without dragging anything out to long or giving us over the top drama. Yes, her books have some drama in them (the miscommunication) but they are always solved and over fairly quickly. The only reason I didn't give this book a full 5 stars was because I thought the ending was to abrupt or quick. I would've liked 1 more chapter finishing out Dex and Alicia's story. I can't expand on that because it would spoil the ending of the book, you'll understand what I mean once you have read the book.

"One week. No rules, no limits, just us. I can save you from this unrequited love of yours. And you…you can save me from myself."…Dex

We meet Dex and Alicia at the end of Unconditional. We get our first real taste of these two characters in their novella, Unrequited. I would definitely suggest reading that first so that you can get to know Dex and Alicia a little better before jumping into this book. I knew after reading their novella, that I just had to have more of these two, especially DEX!!!! That man is HOT ;) and boy does he have a dirty mouth. (I wouldn't mind him whispering in my ear) Dex is a sexy rock star who has stepped out of the lime light because of a tragic event that happened in his past. He harbors a lot of guilt over the event and feels he needs to seclude himself from the world, that he doesn't deserve to be happy and find love. My heart broke for him after reading about his past, but i was glad to see that he was able to work things out as the book went on. With thanks to Alicia, she was an amazing support for Dex, but she was not without issues either. Alicia has had an unrequited love for someone for over 3 years. (I'm not going to say who, you'll have to read the book to find out.) When she meets Dex, he opens her world to adventure and fun and a lot of sexy time. He is there to show her that she needs to move on with her life and find someone who will return her feelings. These two were amazing together….talk about scorching chemistry.

"Some things, you can't plan for. Some people, you know before you even meet. Some loves are forever."…Alicia

This book is part of the Beachwood Bay series, but it is also the start of a spin-off series called The Callahan's. It will focus on The Callahan siblings, but will still focus around the town of Beachwood Bay and past characters will still be making appearances. I liked that in this book we got to see Hunter and Brit and Carina and Garrett. It was great getting more of their stories and I also feel we got the conclusions to their books.

I am a HUGE fan of this series and I love this new direction Melody Grace is taking with these characters and stories. Each of the books can be read as standalones, but I would suggest reading them in order and experience everything this series has to offer!!!

This book gets my 100% recommendation!!!

VERY HOT AND A GREAT TUGGING AT THE HEART STORY. Uninhibited - is a great read i fell in love with the story of Dex and Alicia. I am going to try to give you my thoughts and feelings of the story without giving any spoilers away. Lets start with Alicia- She is a very Sophisticated but yet sheltered woman with a slight wanna be wild side wanting out of her and she own her own successful business and isn't even 30 yet, she is a planner who has to have everything written down in her date book and everything neat and tidy in order and planned out there is something in her that just wants to let go and just be free. Alicia is suffering from a heartache from a guy she didn't even let him know she was interested and now he is marrying someone else i think she doesn't even know what true love is. This guy i feel is someone she met and was nice to her and she went gaga over him he only sees her as a friend and where she has a crush starting to build she thinks its love and he is or was the only man for her. When it comes to sexual experience she has only been with one person back in college after that she was saving herself for the love of her life that don't know her feelings even exist. She feels her heart shattering inside because she just found out the guy is getting married. Here is where Dex enters the story.
Dex- a extremely hot successful Rock Star who has a lot of demons in his closet that he is running from. He has walked away from his life as a rock star no matter how much he loves it he walks away from it with loads of guilt he withdrawals into himself every time he hears one of his songs on the radio it dig the sadness a little deeper .Dex's saving grace is Alicia to him she is the only way he feels that he can help keep his demons at bay instead of meeting them head on. OK i have really gotten a little bit ahead of myself on this review i am gonna back up a little . Dex owed a friend a favor even though he has left the lifestyle of singing Dex agrees to sing a one time gig at his friends restaurant he is outside trying to pace out his nervousness off before he goes on. Before he can go in he didn't realize just what was about to walk into his life the very woman that will makes his heart start beating again .The back door opens and out walks Alicia crying and running from something from inside the building. It is the man she believes that is her true love and who she is destined to be with well she thought she was anyway and got the surprise of her life she finds out is marrying someone else she feels her heart is ripping into pieces she didn't notice Dex at first while she is crying and sneaking out the back door but he sure notices her he starts by asking her if she would like a smoke and she told him she doesn't smoke he teases her that she is a goody goody type but there was just something about her that just grabs at his heart he feels if he lets her get away there is no help for him. He knows his way around a women and knows exactly was to say and do to get what he wants and he plays her like a fiddle and next thing you know he has her up against the building kissing her and about to take her but someone steps out the back door letting him know its time to go on but he is scared if he lets her go he wont ever get her back in his arms again he gives her a card with all his information on it and tells her to take a chance and asked her to give him one week at his beach house to show her what she is missing and to help her bring herself out of her shell and heal the broken heart of hers but will she? She is so embarrassed with what about happened between her and Dex she isn't that kinda girl she tells herself. Every since that night with Dex it is all she thinks about ,after a couple months with not being able to get Dex out of her system she goes for it and calls him .Dex figured she has blown him off and then he get a call from her taking him up on his offer Dex is so excited inside he just thought for sure he lost her he plans to give it everything he has got to make this the week of her life . Dex and Alicia both have a lot to learn about themselves and each other you will find yourself so wrapped up in this story you feel like your right there I started reading the ARC copy of Uninhibited and couldn't put it done till i read it all it is a wonderful story about two people who just may have found what the other is missing in their life. I would recommend this story to anyone 18+ it has it all and is a wonderful story you can lose yourself in. Melody Grace you done a amazing job with this book i most diffidently will be looking for more books of hers . 5 Stars girl!!!! a story like this couldn't be anything else . When a writer can make you feel like your in the book with the story it a most diffidently a keeper . I am not gonna telling anymore about this story your going to have to buy the book and read the rest of the story and trust me there is plenty more hot reading left .

Melody Grace has done it again!!! This is my favorite book in the Beachwood Bay series so far!

Uninhibited follows the story of Alicia and Dex. Alicia has spent her entire life planning and playing it safe. She's spent years of her life pinning after one of her closest friends....the problem with that, is that the man of her dreams is marrying someone else. She's destroyed and doesn't know how she will ever move on. That is until one night. She meets Dex and he turns her entire world upside down, making her feel more alive than she ever thought was possible........

Dex Callahan swore his days of music and fame were behind him. But, no matter how hard he tries, the spotlight continues to temp him....He's determined to move on and not repeat his past. He finds his perfect distraction in Alicia. She is unlike any woman he has ever known. All it takes is one kiss from her and he's lost. He knows he'll never get enough of her and will do whatever he has to, to make her his. So Dex offers her a deal: spend one week with him. No rules, No limits and he'll make her forget about the man she's been pinning for. Soon their passion will open them both up to things and feelings that they've never felt before....

We first met up with Dex and Alicia in Unrequited. I knew from that short novella, that their story was going to be amazing and I wasn't let down. This story is about two people desperately wanting to forget the demons and troubles that are haunting them and they find love along the way.

I got completely lost in Dex and Alicia's story. Their chemistry was off the charts and found myself having a hard time putting this book down. I loved the angst, the romance and the oh so steamy moments!!! Uninhibited was definitely a hit for me.

I just finished this book and it is haunting me. You know... when you are so into a story and after you finish it you just don't know what to do with yourself? I went ahead and bought the rest of the Beachwood Bay series just so that I can catch up and read about all these characters our author Melody Grace has created. All I can say is what a trip!

At the end of Unrequited, Dex makes Alicia an offer. In this new book, Alicia must decide whether to continue living her life full of regrets and unfulfilled dreams or to take a risk and pursue one week with Dex to unlock herself and spread her wings. This is a week they ( or I) will not soon forget.

As a reader, you take a risk when you discover a new author. You hope it will be entertaining and provide you an escape into a world we all dream about. Wow! I took the plunge and I am happily immersed in this world created by our author. I would love to find someone like Dex with all his sensitivity. His connection with Alicia's inner self is to be admired. But his jealousy... well that is the fly in the ointment as they say. Let me know if you enjoyed this book as much as I did!

The most important thing you need to know about Dex is that you don't interrupt him when he's getting sweet with his woman, "dammit!" I curse, whirling around to face our interruption. It's a busboy from the restaurant, some kid looking mortified in the doorway. "What do you want?" I demand, breathing heavy." I loved how much Alicia affected Dex, "Dex gives me a dark look. "Some good it's doing me now." He takes another breath, and then adjusts his jeans. "Damn woman, you're killing me right now." I also loved that they could be each other around each other, "that's me, baby. Old school." Dex suddenly picks me up around the waist, swinging me over his shoulder. "I'll carry you back to my cave and have my wicked way with you." I do believe I have a new favorite book in the series and this is it.

I got this as an ARC e-book through NetGalley & the publisher.

I absolutely loved this book! The pacing was spot-on throughout the book, with just enough ‘down time’ in between the in-text chemistry of Alicia & Dex for me to catch my breath. Although the book followed a somewhat formulaic set of events, it was done incredibly well & had me thinking I was watching a movie rather than reading a book. I could not put it down!

The chemistry of Alicia & Dex leapt off the page & definitely had me hooked - I was rooting for them during the book, even though I already knew they’d get together in the end.
The ‘adult situations’ were incredibly steamy & were definitely blush-worthy.

I am definitely going to check out other books by Melody Grace, as she is possibly one of my new favorite romance authors.

While I was still reading this, I'm debating if this is a four-star or five-star rating. What's stopping me from giving it a perfect score was there is too much, way too much sex scenes. I know sex sells but some were irrelevant to the story that I skipped reading them and still not miss out on anything. All that said, I enjoyed reading it. I was dreaming about the story and it felt like I was still reading after I finished the book in one night, before I went to bed.

I enjoyed being inside Alicia's head but Dex' thoughts were better. Or maybe I'm just used on how women's brain thinks and I'm fascinated when I read from a man's perspective. I want another book, a continuation of their story but just because I want to be part of their lives again. However, ending their story with this book, I think it's for the better. Leave the rest for the readers to give Dex and Alicia a happy life together.

I had to mull it over before I finally decided to give this a perfect rating. And I felt like I needed to write a review on it and not just give my rating. I'm not even sure if I want to reread it because I want to check if I gave the right rating or I want to reread it because I want to be with them again. Anyhow, this is a good book. If you're looking for a guilty pleasure contemporary romance, I recommend you pick this book.

After reading the prequel novella to this book, Unrequited, I was desperate to read more of Dex and Alicia. I loved their passion and that exciting anticipation both of them had when they were together. The novella ends with Dex making an alluring proposition- one that is sure to rock Alicia's world, should she agree.

Pacing: I don't read Melody's books. I devour them. It's easy to lose myself in her words for hours and then realize that the outside world actually still does exist. I am so excited that Melody is starting a new chapter in the Beachwood Bay series with the Callahans. We meet Dex's sister Tegan in this novel and his brothers are briefly referenced. Even though these books can be read as a stand alone, it's always more fun to know the background story of some of the other characters, so I would personally recommend starting from the beginning if you haven't already. (I promise you won't regret it!)

Storyline: I really enjoyed Dex and Alicia's storyline. I know there are a lot of people that can relate to Alicia's situation and that makes you feel for her that much more. Being in love with someone who is in love with someone else is never an easy pill to swallow. Alicia has never been the one to put herself out there, so she is left with all these 'what ifs' and it really hinders her from living her life the way she should. Meeting ex-rocker Dex Callahan changes everything for her. All of a sudden, she has this incredibly sexy man offering to make her forget everything except for how he can make her feel. Dex has demons of his own, but he finds Alicia can also make him forget.... even if just for a little while. However, neither Alicia nor Dex can truly forget just by losing themselves in one another. The past is always looming and has to be faced head on in order for them to move forward. Alicia will have to accept once and for all that the man she loves isn't hers and she will never be happy if she doesn't let him go. Dex carries a lot of guilt over an incident that occurred the previous year with one of his bandmates and he will have to make peace with that before he will be able to move on as well.

Characters: I really liked both Alicia and Dex. Together the two have some explosive chemistry. I love how Dex challenges Alicia to just let go and not get hung up on how crazy it might be or what others will think.

I said in my Unrequited review that Dex may be Melody's baddest boy yet. His dirty talk scandalizes Alicia at first, but she can't deny that it's a total turn-on. Despite having some issues haunting him from the past, I love how passionate Dex is about everything. He doesn't do anything halfway- he's all in and isn't afraid to say what he wants or how he feels. I really liked that about him. When he finally does let Alicia in, it's so cathartic for him, but I hate that he feels she wouldn't want to stay with him and that he just expects her to abandon ship.

Alicia isn't one to abandon the people she cares about when the going gets tough. We especially see that with Hunter. She desperately loves him and she knows that her friendship with him is tearing her apart, but she still won't let him go. I am happy with the way Grace resolved this issue and I felt it was very fitting for Alicia's character. I wasn't sure if I would like Alicia after reading Hunter and Brit's book, Unafraid. I'm always very protective of my couples and Alicia felt like the interloper. I am glad we got to read her story and see that she never had any ill-intent towards Brit or felt the need to try and ruin her and Hunter's relationship.

My heart ached for Alicia. She is lonely and it hurts seeing the man she loves, love someone that's not her. Ever since she met Hunter in college, Alicia has been holding out hope that one day he would stop and notice her not just as a good friend, but as something more. By doing this, she has seriously hindered herself, not just sexually, but socially as well. I loved seeing her lose herself with Dex and actually open herself up for once- to realize that a relationship with Hunter will never happen and that she is missing out on so much because of her reticence to move on.

Even though the book primarily focused on Dex and Alicia, we do get to see some of our old favorites as well. I am really excited about one new character, however. Dex's sister Tegan completely blows in like a hurricane and when I read the first chapter of her book Unstoppable, at the end of this novel, I squealed like a little kid. I can't say much about her love interest, but MAN. I am so freaking pumped! I liked Tegan though. She strikes me as a very no-nonsense kind of girl, who is incredibly loyal to those she cares about. She has been dealt a rather difficult hand in life and I am looking forward to seeing how she handles the painful events from her past and how they will shape her future.

Final Thoughts: This is one sexy read and I always love being back in Beachwood Bay. I cannot wait to see where Melody goes next and I know I'm in for quite a ride with Tegan's book.... and I cannot WAIT!

So it is official, Dex and Alicia are my new favorite Beachwood Bay couple! Alicia is a good girl, she makes good life choices, she plays by the rules, she is innocent, naive, and desperately trying to find herself. Dex is train wreck two seconds away from impact, he is a whirlwind of emotions, sexual energy, and hidden pain; however, would your really expect anything else from a rock star? Melody aced these characters, they are the perfect contrast and the out come is tantalizing.

So Alicia obviously takes Dex up on his offer and they spend a week together, no rules, nothing off limits, just the two of them. Secrets are revealed, things are changed, and they find themselves falling in love with each other. The only problem? Will Alicia be able to let go of her unrequited crush to give Dex her heart? Another amazing book by Melody Grace, these stories never get old!

The story's okay. It was kind of flat to me and it ain't that exciting. There were some hot scenes though.

When I saw the ratings, I was excited but when I started to read this.. I just knew that this novel ain't for me. It wasn't able to satisfy me.

I was expecting more drama but it wasn't enough. The writing style is okay. I kind of just breezed through the novel.

Alicia lives life by the rules. She has a successful career, friends, a family that loves her and she has been in love with her perfect guy for 3 plus years. The problem is that her perfect guy, Hunter, is one of her best friends and has no clue... oh and he's about to get married to another woman. Alicia, being who she is, actually likes the fiance and rather than finally confessing her feelings to Hunter, she struggles to try to forget him and move on. When the chance to do just that appears and gets her all fired up she then has to fight the guilt that keeps rearing up it's ugly head to cool things down.

Dex Callahan is a bad boy rocker who is itching to get back into the scene but is afraid that it will take over his life once again. He's been there, done that and lost a few things along the way; including himself and a fellow band mate. Nothing gives him the rush that being on the stage in front of a sea of screaming fans does. Well, he thought there was nothing that could provide that rush but he soon finds out he was wrong. Dex comes across just the thing he needs that not only provides the rush but just may also be the balm he's been missing that can keep the rush in control should he give into the itch of going back on stage.

This is the first book that I've read by Melody Grace but it's actually the 2nd book in a spin-off series from the Beachwood Bay series. Book 1 is Unrequited.

You don't have to read them in order or anything but Unrequited is currently free on Amazon so why not pick it up and read it before Uninhibited is available? It's about 100 pages and sets up Uninhibited so that you get a little of the back story for the scene that you are brought into. In the first few chapters of Uninhibited you may think that it feels rushed and leaves you wondering exactly what happened but don't fret, Unrequited tells you so if you get that read in first then you are ahead of the game. I definitely went back to read it cause I needed to know more! I also now need to read the rest of the Beachwood Bay series to get the scoop on Hunter and some of the other Beachwood Bay locals.

Ok, so back to the Callahan series. You can click on the book pics and links I've provided above to get the official book blurbs where you are given a little more detail on the opening scene and how exactly Alicia and Dex meet. There are links listed below also. I figured I'd provide more of my own spin on it all here rather than repeat all that cause I tend to get wordy as it is. I will say that it's not often that I feel the male character in a book is just too good. I'm seriously rethinking the number of stars I've given this book! The more I think about it the more I have to admit that when Dex Callahan whispers all that he wants to do to help Alicia out with her man problems, I seriously felt like it was my ear that was being whispered into. I don't know about you but when done right I just get the chills in all the right ways. With the right imagination and this book, yeah.... you could feel it too for sure!

I received this ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The gist: Alicia has been in love with her best friend since college. The problem is, he's happily engaged to the love of HIS life. Dex is a rockstar who craves the spotlight like a drug but he's in a self-imposed exile from the spotlight. They meet in a chance encounter and he promises if she spends one week with him, he'll make her forget the man she's pining over.

Alicia is a bit of a control freak. She's the type of person who plans every aspect of her life and can't handle change. She's created a whole fantasy for herself and her best friend and she doesn't know how to live a life that doesn't include him. Dex makes her extremely nervous because he's carefree and spontaneous and he pushes all her boundaries. She agrees to spend the week with him and his spontaneity makes her question everything. He's the only man who has ever made her forget her best friend and her unrequited love for him. I actually liked Alicia. She was a bit ridiculous with her whole fantasy about her friend. I can't relate to THAT at all. But I did end up feeling some compassion for her in the end. She just needs stability in her life and clinging to her fantasy gave her the stability she needed. It was more of a comfort thing. She wasn't REALLY in love with him, she was in love with the idea of him. A partner to share her life with that she gets along with and that makes her feel safe and secure. THAT I could relate to, as I'm sure just about everyone can relate to that to some degree...

Dex was great. He was troubled and didn't think he was worthy of love and happiness. His reasoning and self-loathing was kinda dumb though. I liked that he was troubled and all that, but I didn't get why he felt guilt over what he felt guilt over. So that was a bit irritating. I liked how he wanted to bring Alicia out of her comfort zone and how he recognized that she was a balm to his own troubles. I did like him and when they had a glitch, my gut was twisting for them.

The story itself was so-so for me, but I liked the characters enough to keep my interest in what happened with them and it kept me reading. I wasn't as annoyed as a often am with NA books. The characters are often immature and make me roll my eyes a bunch, but I didn't really feel that in this one. It did use the word 'turgid' once and that word makes my skin crawl and I automatically have to knock one star off for its use.

Also, I did read the ARC and it has the disclaimer that it's not the final copy. It was full of Proofreading errors which drive me crazy, so I also has to knock it down a bit because of that. HOPEFULLY the final copy will be error-free, but I HAVE to mention all the errors because the copy I was provided was full of them.

Overall, I did enjoy the story and their journey. I am even interested in reading more about the Callahan family.

Review by Allison East

I will always be a huge fan of Melody Grace, I love her Beachwood Bay series, and this one about the Callahans is uber steamy and sexy. I read the prequel Unrequited and wanted more of Alicia and Dex, and the good thing about Melody is, that she delivered and I didn't have to wait too long!

Uninhibited takes place a few months after the prequel Unrequited ends. Alicia hasn't taken Dex up on his offer of a week of hot sex. Her life is boring, and she starts to become overwhelmed with it all. She jumps right in head first and calls Dex, and he has been waiting for her response this whole time.

Alicia was a fun heroine, despite the fact she was a little prudish to begin with and total hung up one someone who was never going to leave the person he was with. But, I saw her changing and evolving, and isn't that what romance novels are supposed to include- a growing character plot? Loved that. In the week she was with Dex, it was like her little closed off world did not exist- only Dex mattered.

"When I'm with you, there's no room for anything else. You're all I can think about."

Dex, the wounded rock star, has lost a friend. He thought he didn't deserve to make music after that happened- and if Dex helped Alicia, she helped him just as much. He knew he had to deal with the past, but it was something he couldn't do alone. And Alicia was the one to help him through it.

After the week though, it became crystal clear that it wasn't just an act- they really cared for one another. They had gotten under one another's skin- and as wonderful and sweet as it was- it was also really racy! Then the sweet, sticky love got to me too- both of them fell, and hard. And it was so believably written, I forgot that they had just met.

From the moment I saw her, I knew she could save me from the darkness. My angel, full of sweetness and passion and wild, reckless hope. Every moment we've spent together has been a miracle, discovering her, knowing her. Loving her.

Dex's sister, Tegan, is going to get her book next- don't forget to read the teaser chapter at the end, it will definitely hook you in, and make you want to read the next one in this series.

Uninhibited was a great start to a new part of the Beachwood Bay series. It's got it all- good plot, strong characters, not too short or long, and totally hot chemistry. Become a Melody Grace fan and you won't regret it!

It's been some time since I have read a Melody Grace book - I read Unbroken when it first came out and have been so caught up in the many books releasing that I haven't had the opportunity to return to the Beachwood Bay series though after reading Unrequited and Uninhibited - I have to get back and read the books in between ASAP because holy hell these books were so good and HOT!

Unrequited, a novella, opens up to Dex Callahan and Alicia in the alley and sparks they are a flying as we see the first night they met, their instant connection undeniable. This was a short read and leaves us hanging on whether or not Alicia will take it a step further to move on from this unrequited love she suffers from to spend one week with hot rock star Dex who is confident that he can help her forget this love that is not returned.

Thankfully Uninhibited is on my kindle and I can move right into this book to see what will happen with these characters. It's two months later and I finally learn who Alicia is in love with and has been in love with since college though he has no idea of her feelings.

Alicia has had no contact with Dex since their one night together and after learning that the love of her life is getting married, she finally decides that it's her turn to live, to love and to move on. You see, Alicia is so strict and so regimented in her life that she needs this fun week, to let loose and to explore this chemistry that was so unforgettable.

We learn more about Dex in this book, his background, his history and what makes him tick. He is commanding, dominant and sexy as sin. I LOVE that Dex makes Alicia feel wanted, something she has never experienced before, he makes her feel that she matters.

Alicia is a total control freak and as they say opposites attract and Dex brings out her fun side and really shows her how to live life, never pressuring her for more than what she is willing to ask for,

As their week comes to a close, will both Dex and Alicia be able to open up and share their secrets with each other? Will Alicia be able to move on from this unrequited love?

You will have to read this book to find out!

Things I love about Melody Grace:

she knows hot to write HOT and really hot SEX!

her stories are compelling, well written, with characters you immediately gravitate to, wanting to know more

Job well done and I can't wait to read more from this author!

Dex isn't just a talented singer!
That dude can TALK DIRTY!!! And I loves it.

I was so happy to receive an ARC, to delve into the continuation that was these two - AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!

Bliss too me over, and even though I was super busy, I made it my business to finish this before the release date :P

Dex was one of those sexy, talented souls that got traumatized. Denying himself pure happiness as a means of punishment for someone that he shouldn't even be blaming himself over. He did the best that he could, and like any normal human being - he had his own life (not to sound heartless). Dude did his best and the fact that he blames himself, torture himself and deny himself - just breaks my heart.

And meeting back up with Alicia was good for him. I just love his dirty mouth :O
It was just...hmmmhmm good you know? lol. And his talented fingers (am not talking about playing the guitar ppl! lmao)...He is such a fucking tease but damn if you don't love him.

And the fact that he cooks?

With Alicia?
Dex was EXACTLY what she NEEDED!
He was good for her soooo bad - and I love that she gets all hot and bothered by the way he talks, or by a simple touch. Dex had her like his own specialized light switch :D

What I love about this is her constant struggle about her worth. That unspoken self doubt that pushed her back into her shell. I love that even without trying, she rise out of it, thanks to Dex - just a testimony of how awesome and how perfect he is for her. She'd hesitate alot, but she never doubted her actions during the moment when she's with Dex. I adore their growing relationship.

And the ending part with her one-sided love and the whole argument? 3
It broke my heart dammit. I felt it for Dex...and Alicia too!

She's just a beautiful person through and through (:

This book was amazing and I loves it <3

“Some things, you can’t plan for. Some people, you know before you even meet. Some loves are forever.”

Dex and Alicia’s story actually starts in Unrequited. In Unrequited you get to see how Dex and Alicia meet. There isn’t much backstory to them yet but the book hooks you enough to make you want more, and leaves you wondering if Alicia takes Dex up on his offer……..

“I have a place at the beach, away from everything. Spend one week there with me, and I swear, I’ll make you forget this other man is even alive.”

Uninhibited starts a few months after Alicia met Dex. Alicia is a hard working independent woman who has been secretly in love with her best friend Hunter. But now that he is engaged she’s devastated. Dex is a sexy rockstar with a bit of a haunted past. After loosing a friend and band mate he quiet singing and he’s hiding out from the world.

When Alicia finally calls Dex they start off as just something fun but as you know that just never happens. Alicia discovers why Dex is hiding out at the beach and helps him heal the wounds of his past and discover that it never really was his fault. In doing so Dex helps her discover true love.

“I can’t bear to see him hurting like this. Something about him has slipped under my skin, wrapping around my heart, and now it squeezes tight, so I feel his grief as if it were my own.”

Things were extremely steamy in this book and a lot of that steam was just the dirty talk that Dex could deliver. He could burn your panties right off only by talking. The characters however worked together the chemistry was there and it sizzled off every page.

I recommend this to anyone that loves New Adult romances with a sexy rockstar. This is actually the first full link novel in this series that I have read but I will definitely be back tracking and reading the rest in this series.

Let me start by saying this... Melody Grace is one of few authors that makes out of reading a pleasant and realistic experience. Her writing style is like a walk on the park: relaxed, easy to follow, always leave you with a smile on your face. Her stories are believable, interesting and you get caught up from the get go. Her characters are easy to relate with since they have real life careers, situations and problems.

Now, let me tell you what I love about this book...
Alicia and Dex - Their first encounter was in Unrequited. Even though is not needed, I strongly suggest to read Unrequited before. It'll give you a better idea of the drama and also help you understand the beautiful chemistry between these two.

I loved the fact that Ms. Grace decided to start Uninhibited from Dex's POV and gave us a little back up story the event that made Dex step out of the Spotlight. Both Alicia and Dex are looking to escape, Alicia from an unrequited love and Dex from the guilt. In this case I have to admit, two needs make one hell of a right! They might have gotten together for all the wrong reasons but can't be more right for each other. They were able to learn to let go of the past and to trust their hearts.

Emotions in this book are strong. The sex was explosive. The sad was intense. The funny was hilarious. There were times were I literally felt what the person was describing.
It was great to see friends from the Beachwood Bay series. I can’t wait to read more about the secondary characters. Teagan gets to have her HEA in Unstoppable!

Overall, it was a great read. My only complaint and its minor, I would’ve loved a less rushed ending or at least an epilogue. Hopefully we’ll get to read more about Dex and Alicia in Teagan’s book.
