In the wake of his wife’s death, Bruce took the bloodiest of revenges on the gangs who preyed upon the innocent, all while protecting the farm—now called Base Hope—against a seemingly endless horde of the infected.
Returning from the very brink of sanity, Bruce makes the decision to rebuild America. He begins by planning the construction of the city of New Hope.
But that doesn’t mean Bruce will sit quietly by while other gangs are continuing their murderous pursuits. Knowing Base Hope is in good hands, and New Hope is rapidly becoming a reality, he takes the forces of Omega and Gamma and goes on the hunt. They encounter super hordes numbering in the millions, who threaten the remaining survivors of the United States. Bruce and his army are determined to wipe out as many of the infected as they can. Rescuing survivors and accumulating resources along the way, they begin to retake America, one major city at a time.
Meanwhile, the President of the United States—the former Secretary of the Interior—wants to rule like a king. Safe in his government compound, he plots to move against Base Hope and take everything Bruce has fought so hard to protect. But the POTUS may have bitten off more than he can chew. An inside man, an old friend of Bruce’s, is determined to do everything he can to protect the American way of life against the dictatorship the President intends to set up.
Join Bruce and his clan in a race against time—to build New Hope and fortify Base Hope against the super hordes—all while preparing for the attack by the POTUS’s troops.

Continues to be one of my favorite zombie series'. I never get enough of the interaction between Bruce and the family. That they are now spreading out in their effort to save America just creates more interesting places and people to see, and zombies to wipe out. The conflict brewing between New Hope and the remnants of the government has been a good thread as well.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Bruce and Mike continue to fight the zombie hordes, and the scum of the earth. They have to eliminate the gangs that threaten the survival of those survivors that are left, and get rid of the immorality that has always plagued this world. Will he always make the right decisions? That remains to be seen. Will what he is doing make a difference? Read on…

What an awesome series! This fifth book I had to finish in a single sitting!

As the clan continues to decimate the infected, the small remaining government forces are noticing. But they're not exactly pleased with the successes of Omega and Gamma teams.....they want to take over. Will Bruce and the clan be able to hold onto the farm and continue their way of life...free from tyranny and oppression? And will the super horde of infected from the east begin to turn their millions of eyes towards the self-sufficient clan?

An outstanding story, jam packed with action, danger, respect, and love. The devotion of the family and the clan is refreshingly wonderful and very funny! The sense of humor from the Rangers alone, is vulgar, disturbing....and hilarious! A great book that I just could not put down. Definitely recommending this series!

Lots of decisions

Glad to know that humanity has the family and clan. It seems with the world galling apart. Greed, evil, murder, rape and egomaniacal pride would no longer be something to think about. However, evil always tries get an upper hand. Not with this group. I hope if there is ever an apocalypse that there is a Bruce to save the day. Bravo, Mr Watson

It's all coming together, unlike books 2 and 3 you can tell more time was spent on editing and development. I love this plot and can't wait until the next book comes out!

Great series

An epic series with rich character and plot lines. Have read this series 3 times once to read, twice to catch details I missed in my rush to finish and a third time to savor.

Fun read

While a lot of it is a bit over-the-top, it is everything you would want to do in an impossible nightmare. Fun read.
