During an interview with Tokyopop, she gave a detailed account of how she started as a mangaka.

NO. WE FREAKING NEED A SEQUEL.
I started reading this manga 4 years ago. Almost five. In all those five years, I have felt a lot of different emotions. More emotions than reality has brought out in me. Sadness, pain, frustration, happiness, bliss, anger, pity, you name it.
But this ending... this just breaks my heart. Not because it was sad, although it is, but because it is so incomplete that I wanna go hang myself.

Going into this series, I was looking for something cute and lighthearted. For the first many chapters that's exactly what I got. But it only began to get heavier and heavier to the point it was just heart-wrenching. And the last several chapters were the worst (in a good way). I just kept crying. Everything happened so quick and so unexpected.
“Ive told you before and my feelings haven't changed. I love you Sakura. Even if I cant match up to Natsume, my feelings would not lose to his. Even if we part ways and you forget about me, I will always think of you. Even if I grow old and leave this academy, I will definitely come see you. I'm here for you, until the day you look my way, I will always... I will always wait for you, together with Natsume. And this time around, I wont let Natsume steal you away again. Next time we meet, I will be more straight forward with my feelings, so that this time around, it wont be Natsume, but me you will choose, and me you will love. I wont lose, definitely."

When I read that she could no longer stay in the Academy, I felt so bad for Mikan but when they said they had to erase her memories I just threw my phone across my room. Then everyone's reaction and everything they did afterwards, I just cried. But every-time I saw Permy cry, I just cried because it showed much she did love Mikan regardless of what she says and does. And Bear!! Does that even need an explanation..? PRECIOUS. As for Ruka. I ship Natsume and Mikan from the very beginning but my heart broke for this boy. From the start to the very end he loved her so much. Though I'm sure he knew that as long as Natsume is breathing and alive, he won't capture her heart that way but he was and is willing to accept it. And Hotaru. I don't think you could get a better best friend than her. Throughout the manga, she stayed true to herself and to the people around her. She always protected them when it's most needed. What she did in the end was courageous and a true sacrifice.

After reading comments regarding the ending, I feel as if people hated it because of it's lack of closure. But I think it justified the series. Though I wish that there was a sequel, I think it showed a taste of reality. That there will never really be an ending to our problems and our stories as long as we live, but we will never have to walk the journey alone. With the hints mentions in the story, it's clear that Hotaru's presence and existence is well engraved into the character's hearts and minds even though they're not entirely sure who she is.Because of this they've undergone an investigation of the Imai siblings' disappearance. But I think the author left it to us what happens next.I personally believe that they eventually find them. I mean they're not dead. Hotaru congratulated Mikan on her 17th birthday. If i learned anything from this series, it's that nothing is truly impossible. Plus you could also see that their bond are too strong to keep them apart so whether they meet again or not in the future, if they were to be born again, they'll become best friends with the same strong love for each other. The way it ended was tragically bittersweet, harsh and hard to accept but there's beauty behind it.
But seriously Bear's face in the last chapter and when he hid in her suitcase... Just aww, I wanted to give him a hug even if he kicks me (T^T )

March 13, 2025Yo es que ya no tengo palabras, pero lo voy a intentar.
Todo lo de la Hotaru me parece tan triste... Me alegro de que almenos tenga a su hermano, pero igualmente el sacrificio es demasiado cruel.
Lo de que Bear pueda irse con Mikan es lo mínimo tbh aunque si tampoco se va a acordar de él ni este podrá actuar como el ser vivo que es pues te deja un sabor agridulce idk.
Quedan SOLO 3 capítulos y me parece un tiempo demasiado breve para hacer wrap up de todo, creo que hay dos extras pero eso quizá es solo de por dónde lo estoy leyendo no sé.

This was my absolute favorite manga.
I can't even describe how much I love it. Tachibana Higuchi created one of the most unique story ideas ever and made me feel every single possible emotion there is. This manga is so perfect in every way. The characters were so enjoyable to read about and the plot was amazing.
Mikan and Natsume were pefect.
All in all it was the best manga I've ever read. But, the ending was a huge disappointment.
Yes, it was a happy ending but it ended on a cliffhanger that left me wanting more, not satisfied like an ending should. In the end Mikan, Natsume, and Ruka run off together to rescue Hotaru. Tachibana Higuchi could keep going on that but she decided to end it. Right. There.
On top of that, the situation with the school was not fully explained. Neither was the situation with the foreign people looking for Mikan. The ending left me with a bunch of quesetions. Do they rescue Hotaru? What's happening at Gakuen Alice? How come everyone is out of the school? What will happen between Mikan and Natsume?
I hope Tachibana Higuchi writes some sort of sequel or at least an extra special chapter where we get to see what happens to our favorite characters in the future. She can't leave her fans depressed like this.

So Mikan's about to leave the academy and bear decides to come with her. Awww I'm crying again. This is way too heartbreaking really. And to think that 4 more chapters and I'm done reading this, I'm doomed! :(

Hodnotím 72% Jazyk: Aj
Pěkná kresba, které se dá bohužel hodně věcí vytknout. Občas měly nějaké části těla divnou velikost, jež se prostě nedala přehlédnout, protože to bilo do očí. Také se zde vyskytoval výškový nepoměr mezi různými věkovými skupinami. Taktéž se mi zdálo mnoho postav velice vzhledově podobných, takže se pak hůře rozpoznávali a bylo jednoduché se v tom ztrácet. U tohohle mohu ale přimhouřit oči, jelikož tu bylo charakterů opravdu požehnaně. Abych tady nezmiňovala jenom zápory, tak musím říci, že se mi hodně líbily zjednodušené kresby, design školních uniforem a ostatního oblečení.
Příběh se mi líbil, a dokonce mě některé momenty dojaly až k slzám. Pomyslela jsem si, že je moc hezké vidět něco tak nezkaženého. S odstupem času jsem ale k celému ději o dost skeptičtější. A překvapilo mě, kolik vad jsem byla schopna nalézt. Avšak ještě divnější bylo, že jsem si příběh byla přesto schopna docela užít.
První vadou je věk postav. Nemyslím tím, že je špatné, že jim bylo okolo deseti, ale to, že na svůj věk byli v některých ohledech až moc vyspělí. Řekla bych, že většina ve všech ohledech, protože především hlavní hrdinka měla tendence se k někomu pořád lísat. A kdyby nebyla tak nízcí, klidně bych prohlásila, že jsou na střední škole. Především když vezmu to, jak byli Mikan a Natsume pokročilý ve svém vztahu. Jako neřekla bych, že vášnivé líbání patří k desetiletým dětem. Ke všemu když se ani šesnáctiletí (nebo kolik jim bylo :D) nedostali tak daleko.
Dalším mínusem byla až přílišná zamotanost příběhu. Což bych nebrala obvykle jako vadu, ale tady to bylo až přespříliš. Začalo to někdy za dvacátou kapitolou. Od té doby jsem byla mnohokrát zmatená a nevěděla jsem, o co jde. Když k tomu navíc připočítáme to, jak moc si jednotlivé postavy byly podobné. A za druhé mě to ani nezajímalo, jelikož nějaký svůj příběh měl skoro každý. To je normálně dobrá věc, neboť to dodává příběhu na důvěryhodnosti. Tady to akorát zbytečně natahovalo příběh o nezajímavé informace o nudný charakterech, a když vezmete v úvahu počet postav... Je to pak úmorné.
Vadou číslo 3 jsou nezajímavé postavy, když nepočítám tedy ty hlavní, ty jsem si velice oblíbila. Ale ostatní mi byli úplně ukradení, a tak jsem přímo trpěla, když se tam objevovaly bubliny se strašně dlouhým textem. Ke všemu když se tam akorát řešily vztahy a jejich zamotanost. Tenhle a tamten miloval támhletu, ta milovalo tamtoho a tak dále. Tím se potom tak nějak vyřešilo všechno, což bylo dost neuvěřitelné. Ta láska se objevovala vážně všude, až to začínalo být nesnesitelné, jelikož nemůže být příčinou a průvodcem všech událostí.
Poslední výrazné mínus je, že nikdo nebyl ve skutečnosti zápornou postavou. Ze všech záporných postav se staly kladné, a nebo byly ukázány hrozně moc dobré "důvody," proč tomu tak je. Pokud teda nebudeme brát jako záporáky ty lidi, kteří stojí za Alice's Academy, neboť ti jediný byli zlí, neboť děti v ní vlastně uvěznili. Ale jelikož ani jeden z nich nebyl ukázán, tak se to nedá počítat.
Výše uvedená věc mi opravdu vadila. Vážně nemám ráda, takhle zkažený lidi, co myslí jen na sebe a na to, jak získat, co nejvíce peněz. Také si mi nelíbí to, jak ostatními opovrhují. Nechápu, proč jim ani nedovolili se vídat se svými rodiči. Jsem překvapená, že už dávno neudělali převrat. Protože bojovat proti zlu zevnitř, většinou moc nefunguje.
Abych jen příběhu něco nevytýkala, tak sem napíšu i nějaké klady. Nebo se o to aspoň pokusím. :D Největší plus bylo působení některých situací na mé emoce. Někdy v průběhu jsem byla opravdu emotivní, dokonce jsem uronila i pár slz. A u scének s Mikan a Natsumem jsem se culila jak malá holka. :D Pár věcí mě tu i pobavilo. A nic dalšího mě nenapadá. Ups...
Konec mi nijak zvlášť radost neudělal, jelikož je tam spoustu nelogických věcí, což mě štve. A celkově mi to přišlo celé divné
Anglické obálky se mi líbí o dost více než ty japonské. Vypadají víc elegantně a vznešeně. Na některých obálkách se mi ale nelíbí kresba postav/y.

I was almost crying when mikan left academy n lose her memories that important to her that related to Alice academy,it's so beautiful, can't help it.I feel bad for hotaru n his brother, they sacrifed themself to revived natsume for mikan.Hotaru n his brother stuck at time space lap in consequences of their action.

Ugh! I'm still quite confused with the time-travelling they have been doing. I know it's dangerous. I mean, if you change the past, the present will change too and that will have consequences. I'M SO GLAD SHE REUNITED WITH EVERYONE but damn, there HAS to be a sequel. They can't just let it end like that, what with all the unsolved stuff they need to take care of.

Just spent the week revisiting this anime and all I can say is that I need MORE!!!! Though some parts dragged for me I need to know what happened to Hotaru. Futuretake pictures aren't enough. More Mikan and Natsume!!! Sequal is a must!!!
