C. Extreme drops us back into the lives of Asher, Tina, and Ginny, still shaken from the events of Heartbeat. With new faces like Carietta and Laura, the dynamic between our characters deepens; danger lurks as the Shadow Pines killer, Spencer Shaw, stirs.
Detective Danielle Blake works against all odds to bring Spencer down and to keep Shadow Pines safe. Not everything goes to plan as Spencer leaves a trail of bodies and debauchery in his wake. Meanwhile, Asher and Tina adjust to their new normal, desperate to put their past behind them. Easier said than done. Spencer, during his spree of sin, finds that it’s not only RYDEM that holds the power of memory. It’s in the blood…
Heartbeat 2 is a rollercoaster of a ride; C. Extreme is honing his craft into a whetted greatsword with vivid descriptions, heart-wrenching dialogue and bloody scenes in his sophomore installment. He is quickly solidifying himself as a up and coming sensation within the genre. Top-notch penmanship from a top-notch author.
After spending 8 months in a coma with a RYDEM overdose, Spencer is out for revenge.
This is as gory and gruesome as the first book, but while Spencer is as crazed as he was before, there are elements of his sub-conscious creeping into the narrative which had me hooked.
I loved the first one but this one takes the cake. Or n*pples if you prefer. C. Extreme paints a vividly graphic picture that will leave you squirming in your seat. I absolutely loved every vile minute of it. I can't wait for the third one!
Spencer is BACK and his bigger, badder, and just downright horribler (I made that word up I think), than ever.
Spencer survived the stabbing at the end of the last book (not a spoiler as… well there wouldn’t have been a sequel would there?), and he is back on the rampage, but this time he has a new power to help him along the way.
This is as dark and as gruesome as the first one, and slightly longer. Some real wince moments too… read it and see.
My only criticism with this, along with the first… is I WANT to get in there with the RYDEM. I want to experience their hit… other than that it’s a fast paced extreme book with some great kill scenes and characters. I can’t help but like Spencer… even though he is totally unlikable…
This is a week deserved 4 star read… it’s quick, it’s fast paced, and it’s satisfying. A bit like me in bed
This thrill ride of a book picks up where part 1 left off and ups the ante in every way. The smooth, subtly playful prose lulls the reader into a false sense of security before delivering blow after gruesome blow. This is a top-notch slasher, and the villain, Spencer, can go round for round with the meanest the genre has to offer. As an added bonus, after one of the more brutal creative kills in the book, Spencer delivers one of the funniest lines I’ve ever read. Can’t wait for part 3!
