STITCHED A Quilting Cozy (Book 5) is the story of Sarah and Charles as they face the many joys and challenges of combining their life styles and households. Both in their seventies, they discover they each have a lifetime of preferences, priorities, and issues which make compromise sometimes difficult and often rewarding. Sophie reluctantly considers a love interest herself, as family and friends pull together to save one of their own who has been charged with murder. This is the fifth book in the Quilting Cozy series, following "Tie Died," "Running Stitches," "Sea Bound," and "Patchwork Connections,” and, as always, there’s lots of quilting!
Book 5 in this fabulous cozy quilting mystery series, and while I have loved all the quilting covers, the quilt with Stitched Together has to be the most elaborate yet.
All the characters have settled in now and Sarah, Charles and Sophie have a special place in my heart now.
Now married, Charles and Sarah are honeymooning in Paris.
Back home, Sarah is still finding her feet at Running Stitches, and Sarah is teaching an introduction to quilting for beginners.
With reference to the cover quilt, Amelia and her husband lived in Japan, and with this we learn a lot about the culture, the tea houses and the kimono.
Life is changing for Sarah and Charles, they have their dog Barney, their new kitten Boots and Charles wants to move into their own home........ as usual when Sarah is around, murder occurs. And this time Charles is in the frame..
Stitched Together is probably the most exciting of all the novels I have read in this series, you get a lot of story for your money. That said it is best to read in sequence just to get to know the characters and the back story.
With all the adventure it's hard to remember that the residents are all in their older years. Sophie is brilliant. She too is finding love among the chaos and it's all very sweet and joyful. Even Martha, Sarah's daughter might have love interest!!
I guess these books are growing on me. This one was less annoyingly slow though I totally thought the people in her class were going to have a side story arc. Oh well, maybe the next book.
This latest in the series shows the tribulations of marrying after being single and independent for many years. Sarah and Charles have some adapting and compromising to do, but that is just one part of the story. The focus is on Charles' estranged two sons and the relationship Charles wants to rebuild with them. In the previous book, the focus was on the distant relationship Sarah and her daughter had. Maybe the next book will talk about Sophie and her son? Who knows? I was interested in the quilt Sarah started as it involves Asian prints.
Again, the author does too much telling and not enough showing. The mystery was a puzzle though a bit farfetched.
I love how these cozy mysteries get everyone involved in solving the crime while also planting the seeds of future stories or possible future mysteries.
This one had a nice twist but I was so wrapped up in the story that I didn't pay attention to the other clues so I missed who did it. I got pretty close but not right.
What worries me now is that my library doesn't carry this author's books after the next two. So I am going to have to get creative to find them. I would be happy to find an Ebook at this time.
Flowers on cover. A quick little hearted mystery. I am a quilter also so I enjoyed this book. Marriage in their 70's after spouses have died required alot. Priorities, compromises, love, joy, new interests, friendship, etc. Everyone has to pull together because one of their own is accused of murder. I did enjoy the book.
Love this series of books. Once I started the book I just couldn’t put it down. I so love how the quilt patterns are included in each one of the books. What a great idea.
Enjoyed the characters and the semi mystery. I’m a big quilting fan and appreciate the direction for the quilt on the back of the book. I will read more from this author.
I honestly wonder sometimes why I keep reading these books. The only excuse I can give myself is that once I start a series, I want to finish it to find out what happens to the characters. However, this is the first time that I keep questioning myself after every single read. While these books are a nice, easy read and a quick distraction, they are not really all that well written. Sometimes, I think the sentences are stilted and not very well constructed. This time, though--good grief---it's like the author just got tired of the story and finished it all at once. All of a sudden, in two chapters, the whole mystery was supposedly solved and the book was done. After all the build-up, it's just a mistake? Please. The chapter ends, the book is over and boom--that's it. No explanation for story lines that were brought up. One assumes they will be resolved in upcoming books, but this was the most abrupt ending of any of her books to date. And, yet....I'll probably read the next one. Sigh.
I've enjoyed this series since it involves both quilting and a mystery. But this book was not a favorite and I really had to push myself to finish it.
When reading a cozy mystery, you know a dead body will show up. I kept reading, waiting, went house hunting with the characters, still waiting, reading about what colors they decided to paint their house... Finally at the end of chapter 18, we have a body!
It picked up a bit after that and since it's a series, I will probably read more. Hate to start and not finish a series so I hope things get better.
