The Apocrypha: The Complete Deuterocanonical Texts of the King James Bible

Rate this book
The word apocryphal was first applied to writings which were kept secret because they were the vehicles of esoteric knowledge considered too profound or too sacred to be disclosed to anyone other than the initiated. All King James Bibles published before 1666 included the Apocrypha. Many reprintings of older versions of the Bible now omit the apocrypha and many newer translations and revisions have never included them at all. This is the complete Christian Apocrypha as it appeared in pre-1666 KJ 1 Esdras 2 Esdras Additions to Esther 1 Macabees 2 Macabees Tobias Judith Wisdom Sirach Baruch Epistle of Jeremiah Susanna Prayer of Azariah Prayer of Manasseh Bel and the Dragon Laodiceans This new digital presentation of the KJV Apocrypha includes touch navigation and a dynamic, organized format with Book List, Chapter List and JumpToVerse. The text has been reformatted to accommodate larger font options. There are indexed verses and chapters, interactive Table of Contents for each book and expanded Chapter Links for easy access. There are also links to free audio recordings of select books as well as an image gallery showcasing art inspired by 1 and 2 Maccabees and the Book of Judith.

1 & 2 Esdras:
3/5
A really cool story about how women are the strongest part of creation, but also very xenophobic so can't fully get behind it.

Additions to Esther:
3/5
Kinda just seemed to be a recap of what happened in Esther.

1 & 2 Maccabees:
1/5
Don't read while eating.

Tobit:
4/5
Really cool conflict between angels/demons. Loses points for encouraging incest.

Judith:
5/5
Judith is a badass.

Wisdom:
2/5
Literally the sequel to proverbs. really boring.

Sirach:
0/5
Did not have fun at all. 51 chapters long, with many many verses talking about how women need to be obedient to men, daughters cannot be wayward bc their only intention is to be married off, and its okay to abuse your children.

Baruch:
1/5
I do not remember what happened except that it was boring. At least it wasn't Sirach.

Jeremiah:
2/5
It was okay, but also not memorable.

Susanna:
5/5
This is the one story I had heard before. Susanna is falsely accused of adultery by some men who tried to seduce her. Kinda hate that they only listen to Susanna because a man took her side, but I can get behind this display of biblical justice.

Azariah and Mannaseh:
1/5
Literally the same thing. Idk. I was bored.

Bel and the Dragon:
3/5
Not enough dragon. Thought it was funny when the angel brought Daniel lunch in the lion's den by dragging habbakuk across the continent.

Interesting read when compared to the canonized Holy Bible. Historical comparisons are quite interesting.

Just as I said above. This was an interesting comparison of the writings of the Apocrapha vs. The Holy Bible

Good Story

Good collection arranged in a very readable format. This kindle version was a smooth easy read. A few more words added to the review to meet the kindle review quota.

God is good!

God is real and He is beautiful and I love Him! I only recently learned of the Apocrypha and am glad to have discovered and read it.

It's dicey combing through this. If you're secure in your faith it shouldn't present too many problems.
