Victoria leaves her high society family in Boston to get away from a marriage her father wanted to a cabin in Montana and a rancher named James. James is hiding his pain by working hard on the ranch but what will happen when Victoria arrives and begins to push his boundaries. Fast-paced, steamy read with loads of drama and great chemistry. I really liked it.

Taming his Montana Sweetheart was a sweet romance with a bit of spice. Victoria has no desire to marry the old, but very rich, man her father sells her to. She decides to make her own future and head west as a mail-order bride.
James is a cold man, a widower who’s wife left him, he decides to send for a new woman. Hoping for a woman used to chores and farm life he is shocked when he meets Victoria.
Instant chemistry but he wants to send her back as much as she wants to stay. She is falling for him and he can’t stay away. They have to decide if they can find their way together.
This book has domestic discipline but is on the sweeter side. Limited love scenes. Both characters are a bit shallow but are good people who need each other. Cute story.

Contains spoilers:

I think this is the best Mail Order Bride story written by Emma Andersen to date. It is the story of Victoria, a well bred women from London, whose father, a compulsive gambler, has brought his daughter and wife to Boston, in hopes of marrying off his beautiful daughter to the highest bidder. So, with little regard for his daughter's happiness, he promises her to a vile, old and fat, and lascivious man. Victoria is so appalled, so disgusted, and so frightened to be betrothed to such a man, that she would rather gamble her future on being a mail order bride to a man in Montana. James has reluctantly decided to advertise for such a bride after being in a loveless marriage, and then being left a widower. He only wishes to have a woman to cook, clean and do chores on his ranch. Victoria is not at all what he is expecting, but he is of course immediately taken by her complete beauty. He also knows she has lied to him when she wrote that she could cook and clean. And he eventually punishes her for her lies, and for many other transactions. But Victoriea has quickly fallen for James, and cannot bear to think he might send her back to Boston before the priest arrives in the Spring. And James keeps trying to convince himself that he has nothing but carnal feelings for Victoria, and tries to keep her at arms length. He fails miserably though as he does take her virginity. Will he admit to himself what she means to him, or will he send her away, thinking it is best that she return to the life of wealth and servants? It is a wonderful story, as one waits to find out what will indeed happen.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprouts arc.

Her Victoria came from London to Boston her father gambled away their money so that is why they came to America. Victoria could not believe her father would sell her like an animal. He met with Emerson Franklin who was a man of means and was negotiating the amount for his daughter. James had taken in the reigns of the running of the ranch since his mother and father had died. James had been married but his wife left him and then he finds out that his wife had been killed so another death to deal with. James put an ad in the paper for a mail order bride he received many letters. The first one he opened was Victoria’s and he threw away the rest. Victoria was on the train to her new home and husband. Everyone wanted to see James new mail order bride and they waited with him at the train station. Victoria was having a hard time but vowed she would deal with the Montana Winters and Mr.Ashland. James was being a creep and yelling at her all the time to the point where he would just spank her. James brought Nettie to the house to teaching her basic cooking. Nettie said some nasty things to her last time they saw each other in town. Victoria’s friend Hannah lived across the street so she went and told her everything that had been happening with Nettie. She also wanted to find out more about James. James was staying away more and more. Victoria has had enough and when he came home from work he found Victoria and no dinner. Will they be able to work it out or will he send her back to Boston?

Victoria Fremont is a fair beauty who has been sheltered by her father, while he looked for the higher bidder to marry her. Her parents didn't love her, but saw her as a means to wealth. After gambling away the family wealth, her father moves the family to Boston, where he finds a wealthy man wanting to marry her -- but he is short, fat, old and vile. Victoria writes letters at her church to ads for mail-order brides.

James Ashland became owner of the family ranch in Montana at age 20, following the deaths of both of his parents. He married Bea for a helpmate more than love match. She left him, but died in a horse accident in town. He hired an older woman to cook and clean, but she left to be with her family. At 30, James once again needs a wife. He places an ad for a mail-order-bride, then cancels it two days later.

Victoria answered James ad, andI out of the stacks of letters James received, he only responded to Victoria's and sent her a ticket for a train car.

She arrives. James is expecting a a plain woman who can't find a husband in the traditional ways. Victoria is happy with the tall, handsome cowboy, but worried about his moods.

Winter is about to come, so they will be snowbound at the ranch till Spring. They can't marry till spring when the preacher comes through town. James provides her with her own room, and they start to get to know each other.

Fun and heart-pulling novel.

An Interesting Pairing of Two Characters.
Victoria, a young Bostonian woman secretly leaves her family and escapes to Montana into the cold hunky arms of rancher James. James is thrown by the sight of her and his emotional reaction. He interprets her reaction to everything as being bratty and therefore the need to spank her. Thus begins their emotional connection. But, will she stay? Will he want her to stay?
I’m kinda on the fence on this one. I knew going in there would be spanking however it all feels immature on how it’s depicted. In fact those scenes do nothing in advancing the storyline. The two protagonists are wonderfully steamy when they do get together as the author does a pretty good job describing what they emotionally bring with them.
I am leaving this review for your consideration. Peace.

Victoria's father is trying to marry her off to the highest bidder to line his pockets. James needs a woman to keep his house. James sends out an ad looking for a mail order bride. Victoria answers it to avoid marrying the man her father chose. When she arrives in Montana, James is surprised by her beauty. Due to winter setting in, James decides to keep her until Spring at least. Victoria is trying to ensure her stay past Spring, when she meets a jealous woman in town who wanted James for herself. Will Victoria survive past the Spring with James? Will they develop feelings for each other? Will the jealous woman from town cause trouble? How will it end for James and Victoria? Great story telling

Spoiler the H is a cad - “a man who behaves dishonourably, especially towards a woman“

Emma Andersen is a great storyteller and it she made it so easy to read this book all in one sitting.....
The blurb sets the story and you get swept along but the H believes he has no intention of marrying the h and then
struggles not to bed and her .and then does bed her on a frequent basis ...

This book is an easy to read historic romance with a hint of steamy .... just enjoy the story telling...

Victoria father felt that it was ok to sell her into marriage so she took her life into her own hands and answered a mail order bride request. James has had a great deal of lost so has closed his emotions off. He gets talked into looking for a mail order bride. When Victoria stepped off the train she is not what James expected. The struggle that they have will touch you yes there is spanking, but the story is what will keep you reading. I loved the ending and for me it is a solid 4 star. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

I am getting to really enjoy reading Mail Order Bride books and this one is wonderfully written, making it an absolute delight to read. The two main characters, Victoria and James, at first seem as though they have very little, if anything in common. However, as the story progresses, they work through their differences and the issues they both have with themselves and each other. There is some domestic discipline in the book but nothing over the top. It’s a pretty short sweet romance.

This was a good story. She ran away and had to adjust. It was so great for him to learn he was capable of love. There wasn't a mega steam factor and spankings weren't long and drawn out. It was definitely more of an emotional love story which was nice. The quickness of the read made me wish there was just a little more juicy "meat" to it. It was so quick that it didn't have a lot of great detail for most scenes.
It was great for an easy read though.

Another mail order bride story. The rich socialite escapes an arranged marriage by her father by agreeing to be a mail-order bride. The couple find it hard, because they are both attracted to each other, but also believe that their relationship won't work for many different reasons. It's good to see how things work out in the end.

Victoria ran away from her family after her gambler father decided to sell her in marriage. She answers an add from James for a mail order bride. She says that she can cook and clean, which is not true. James plans not to bed Victoria until they meet the priest in spring, but he discovers that discipling Victoria when she does not do what he expects brings him closer. Is he going to learn to love her?

A really good emotional, exciting, suspenseful, and so much more. Her father sells her to a rich, old man. He is forcing this on her. She sets herself up as a mail order bride. He has lost his parents and is really down and emotional. She is feisty and he is alpha and has to discipline her. With spankings but their attraction is intense. This is a well written western historical mail order bride romance. The author does a great job taking you back to the day , vividly describing her characters and events and delivers an entertaining story depicting two strangers marrying and gradually falling in love. I enjoyed reading Victoria and James' story.

This is the story of Victoria, who escapes a potentially abusive and loveless marriage by answering an ad for a mail order bride in Montana. James a rancher who is disillusioned with love is looking for a wife in namea only and to work tirelessly. Will these two find their HEA? Lots of trial and error, misunderstandings and disapline in this book.

Mail Order Brides: Taming His Montana Sweetheart by Emma Andersen. I love reading historical romances and this one was great! I love the style of writing and the character quirks. I only wish they would have talked to each other more and that the book itself was longer.

This book included characters who needed to grow up emotionally, and mostly they did by the end, though we weren’t really given all the insight into how that might have happened. Overall it was an entertaining book to read for people who aren’t offended by a few spankings.
