Greed in Paradise by Deborah Brown is a 2014 Paradise Books, LLC publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The dynamic duo of Madison and Fab are back for another adventure in Paradise. Naturally, these two manage to attract trouble so I couldn't wait to see what they have up to. Of course I was also on pins and needles about Madison's personal life, which left me wondering if what had happened in the last installment was real or if maybe it was all just a misunderstanding.

From the first page until the last, the pace is fast and furious, as usual. Madison has taken over “Jake's”, a bar and grill, but it seems some of Jake's creditors didn't get the memo and show up looking for the money Jake owed them, holding Madison responsible, or trying to. But, that's just for starters. Fab and Madison find out an old friend, who kind of walked on the dark side, has passed away suddenly, and the ladies are surprisingly remembered in the will, which stirs up all kinds of controversy since the death was perhaps a suspicious one.

What about Madison's personal life? Well, for now it looks like Madison is between boyfriends, but Creole is awfully determined to win Madison over, despite her mother's very strong disapproval.

Once more the ladies are in rare form, but this time around I think I may have noticed a tiny change in Madison. She has always been funny, a little offbeat, struggles to find her niche, and has had to battle her boyfriend, mother, and best friend to in order to achieve her goals or dreams. Make no mistake, Madison is still smarting over Eric. She is not ready to date, not even Creole, who tempts her sorely. But, in this installment I saw Madison start to take up for herself a little more. She even challenged Fab, perhaps losing some of her hero worship and coming into her own. Although she didn't win every time, at least she did put up a good fight. This led to some pretty sharp dialogue and hilarity.
As always there were some sexual innuendos, suggestive dialogue, plus the trademark mad cap situations. On a few occasions, Fab's new boyfriend stole the show, so I do hope he sticks around for a while.
This was another highly entertaining book in this series, which has become one of my favorites. I am so happy to see that as we progress the characters continue to grow and learn, but stay true to themselves as well. Great job! 4.5 rounded to 5

The book was great, but there were a lot of things that were never cleared up at all, like why was the car wash leveled??? Why did Violet want to get her hands on the gun collection so badly??

This was one of the better ones I’ve read so far. Getting rid of the old boyfriend was a huge plus

Don’t you just LOVE book series. Each new Paradise escapade surrounds you, and the characters… they unwittingly become your extended family. Our favorite sleuths, Madison and Fab, are in the fray of a mystery once more. After the death of a friend (somewhat shady dude), The gals are shocked to be listed in his will. It becomes clear pretty that they inherited a bunch of trouble including some old debts. Also clear is the fact that something is very fishy about their friends death. We now have women on the hunt for answers, with a bit of their usual sarcasm – which translates to some quirky dangerous situations. Then what about the romance…Will Madison finally be done with the ex and start that romance with another person of interest? Hmmmmm! Deborah Brown is spot-on with another delightful and compelling addition to the series.

Unlike some series that fall apart after a few books, this one is still going strong. Madison and Fabiana find new adventures, meet new friends (and interact with old, familiar characters, of course) and have narrow escapes.

One of the pair's new not friends is Violet, Gus Iver's daughter, who ends up being responsible for a very nasty swim the girls take in a swamp.

From being held at gunpoint in the very first chapter to bringing Creole home from the hospital in the last chapter, Madison's escapades kept me entertained.

While this is book 5 in the series, each book stands alone. I'd absolutely suggest reading through the series from book 1, Crazy In Paradise, but you can start with this one and not feel "lost."

When I was younger, a much younger girl, I loved Nancy Drew!!! Who didn't love a good sleuth and a woman, or young girl at that. Bring your margaritas and swim suits and join Madison and Fabiana on a chase for the bad guy or guys. Run into trouble while your at it, as these two surely do! You'll love the meddlesome mom, (don't we all) and love Creole, the protective sort...really, or does he just want Madison? Find out with this trouble seeking, sleuthing twosome. Debroah Brown definitely sets the scene for the reader to pack her swim suit, sunglasses and flip flops to join these two for some drinks and then some! I enjoyed this book.

Until next time.

I gave this four stars, but I really would have rated it a solid 3.5 if possible.

Gus Ivers dies soon after his daughter has been hinting that maybe he's losing his faculties and has been looking at places to put him for his own good. I do not need my math degree to add up where this is probably going.

There are lots of things going on in this book besides Gus Ivers' murder investigation. In fact, it seems like it's not even a major part of the book with so much other stuff going on. Maybe it's the obvious culprit that allows this to happen.

I hope the level of chaos does not increase. It's borderline too much for me to follow or enjoy (though being male, perhaps that's to be expected?). I've enjoyed these books immensely so far, at least the first four (I've used these as my monthly free Kindle Owner's Lending Library selections.) We'll see how it goes.

Another great book!

Things are never dull for Madison or Fab! As usual, the story is wonderful! Well written with well described characters, a good story, adventure that never ends and the promise of more to come. I love that Madison is surrounded by a wonderful group of friends even though I have it in for Zach. Her family is made up both of blood relatives and those she has chosen. I love how she has friends everywhere with numerous talents and they all come together and help when its needed both for her and by her. I'm always left wanting more so I'm off to the next book.

Great story.

So I borrowed and downloaded the first five books in the Paradise Florida Keys Mystery series from Kindle Unlimited and accidently read Greed in Paradise first. Occasionally thinking like I was missing a backstory or something but nothing big enough to clue me in that I was reading book number five instead of book one. This book is great. It's filled with enjoyable characters with the right amount of humor, family dynamics, suspense and whodunits.

Busy Florida PI Story
This is the 6th book in a series that should be read in order. The book is set in South Florida and includes all sorts of criminals committing all sorts of crimes. Our heroes get to be around death and destruction as they try not to get killed by drug dealers and crazy people. This is a fun series that includes a pistol-packing family of good people and the cops they hang with.

Continuing crazy Florida keys fun

Repossession and recovery, what could go wrong? Are the good guys gangsters or hero's, is the car wash clean or naughty? Will our hero's survive their exploits?

Just when you think you know the direction this series is heading, Deborah Brown 'pulls a u-turn.' So, don't get too comfortable, and fasten your seatbelts, because there are changes and bumps in the road ahead! Like all the installments leading up to this one, this is a fun and enjoyable read.

This series of stories always does just enough to keep interest up, and move me toward reading the next one. This is not a series that I am compelled to start the next right away, but I will continue to read them.

Oh, how I enjoyed this book

The relationships between the characters were better developed and they all seemed more real and likeable. There is not a cliff ending but a few of the story lines were not completed so I trust they will show up in future books.

A super easy listen to this short audiobook. This series is like watching an episode of a favourite tv show that I can jump straight in to. It’s not life changing and can be quite far fetched but it’s entertaining.

This one seems a little disjointed, not an easy to follow story. It was, however, still an enjoyable read. The humor is always enjoyable.

I love the way the plot twisted in Book 5. Quite a mix up with some of the characters. The girls were quite busy in this book. Can't wait to read the next book.
