Who has a right to judge what is normal?

For 18-year-old Maria Valentino it was her parents, it was her friends and it was the doctors who decided that she was no longer stable for the outside world. No one questioned that the man who put her in a mental institution for eight months was in fact a violent drunk because unlike Maria people thought he was normal.

No one questioned that her friends bullied their classmates on a daily basis to stay at the top of the social ladder because that was normal.

The only time people started asking questions was when Maria finally snapped.

Then, she meets Mason Riley. Charming, handsome, and confident. He was like a slap back to reality, and for the first time in years, Maria finally felt like she was back in normality.

The only problem was that she met Mason when she was admitted to The Ledge Mental Institution. He had been bouncing from hospital to hospital since he was 12 years old, somewhere along the way the doctors branded him a Sociopath. That would explain the charm, his exceptional knack at manipulation, and the remorse that he lacks to feel.

Yet, even with all of that Maria finds herself believing that Mason might actually be one of the most normal aspects of her life, because after all sanity is best judged by those who lack it.

That’s what he keeps telling her, and she almost started to believe him.

Probably the best book I've ever read, and I've read A LOT, and it's not even published or completed! It's been in the works since 2014/2015 I think, and I've lost count of how many times I've reread it since then. This book will make you question your own morals, society and basically everything. The characters are also so well written and will make you cry laugh and sometimes just cry because you get so invested in them. Yeah, you should basically go and read this book.

Oh my gosh! I read this book on Wattpad when I was younger and I cannot believe it is on Good reads now. SUCH a great book. Amazing writing and you fall in love with the characters.

I've been going back to this book every few years or so. Hoping that the author will finally finish the book or reupload it on Wattpad. This is by far the best book ever written on the platform. Definitely lives rent free in my head, too bad it's unfinished tho. I fell in love with Mason and would really like to know more of their story.

I haven't read this book. I was going to though - until I read the description and hear Mason described as a Sociopath... followed by listing traits of anti-social personality disorder, also known as PSYCHOpathy. I hate it when people confuse mental illnesses in stuff like this... If you're going to create a crazy person, at least get their brand of crazy right.. please.
