Paranormal Public #9

Elemental Light

Rate this book
Charlotte Rollins would have liked to graduate from Paranormal Public like any other student, but the facts won’t be denied: Darkness has risen, and there will be no graduation for Charlotte and her friends. If the darkness premier recovers the Mirror Arcane, eternal night will surely follow. Charlotte has just one chance to save everything and everyone she holds dear.

Instead of finals, there is war. Instead of love, there is loss. And instead of hope there is a gaping black hole. Lisabelle has gone to darkness, friends are dying, and Charlotte is forced to make unforgivable choices. If you love someone so much that you have to lose him, what was the point in the first place?

3.5 stars
This series has all the potential for a five star read. The world Ms. Edwards created was very fascinating and I loved most of the characters. The are two reasons I only gave it a 3.5 stars: inconsistencies and errors. Events happened before and when those were mentioned in the later books they were different from how they were mentioned before. Some time I wondered if I remembered it wrong or if I was reading a different book. There are also so many errors in the sentences. Book 8 and 9 are a lot better but still not perfect. The first few books are the worse. If it was not for these two reasons I would be happy to give this series a higher rating.

The final book in the Paranormal Public series does not disappoint. Not only does Elemental Light finish off Charlotte’s story, it also lays the foundation for a new series called The Devious Chronicles.

Over the course of this series Charlotte has gained and lost so much. Gained the knowledge of who and what she is. Lost the love of her life, Keller and her best friend Lisabelle to darkness. She doesn’t know if she will get them back, all that she does know is that she has to try.

The Darkness Premier wants something that Charlotte has, the Mirror Arcane. Charlotte must protect this item with everything she is. This proves to be difficult when those thought dead turn up to be well alive and rebelling against the government.

Sip, her other bestie, is consumed with the thought of Lisabelle dying due to the amount of darkness inside of her. Her major goal is prevent this from happening. In order to do that though, she will need access to the archives.

The Darkness Premier’s identity is a closely guarded secret. One in which Keller and Lisabelle do not know. Those closest to the Darkness Premier have no clue who she or he is. When their identity is revealed, it will come as a shock.

Elemental Light ties up the story nicely although there are a few questions that are not answered. Hopefully the spin-off series will address these.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Favorite Quote "I can't explain, but trust me when I tell you I'm always on your side. Whatever side that is."

Other People
Lanca- Vampire Queen waiting to take back her throne.
Lisabelle- darkness mage, everyone but a handful are terrified of her. She kinda rocks my world.
Sip- tiny ware-gal born into a family of males, people underestimates her due to her size. She is a bossy gal though, with some backbone.
Keller- Fallen Angel, Charlotte’s ex-boyfriend
Lough- dreamweaver, in love with Lisabelle

I really loved this series and was delighted with the characters, but there was definitely something lacking in this last book. I know there is a book 10, but it takes place 3 years later and follows Ricky, and at the moment I'm just not ready to read anything else involving Paranormal Public because I didn't feel like there was enough closure with the original characters. I feel like maybe just one extra chapter would have done a lot of good. But for me, just like in the Harry Potter books, some of my favorite parts are what others might consider the boring parts. I love descriptions of the dorm buildings, learning about Charlotte's powers as she learns about them, and of course the dialogue between the group of friends. I was even hoping for a few more chapters dealing with Charlotte and Dacer's work with the masks. Oh well, I'm definitely going to read book 10, and I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but I'm going to have to take a break from the series first. overall, I would give the whole series 4 out of 5 stars, but I will say that there are entirely too many typos and grammar mishaps throughout the whole thing, and that is just plain irritating.

I loved this series. There were definitely things that irritated me about the whole series - plots that seemed to start and go nowhere, spelling errors, plot errors (in one part she says her brother was five and then two sentences later describes him as three), the fact that the heroine never really became amazing like most heroines do. That being said, I read all of them and had trouble putting it down.

So beyond all the typos this was good ending to this part of the series. There are 3 more books but they begin 3 years after this one ends and they're basically Ricky's story. The ultimate battle between dark and light was fought and light won. With a few hiccups, everyone lived HEA - maybe. Having binge read these 9 books, I think I might be done though, so I'll just end this by saying it could have been better but I was entertained and I enjoyed myself.

Charlotte has had it tough at Paranormal Public but when the going get tough, her friends help out and she has a great support network. Lisabelle is one of my favourite characters and although she has gone over to the dark side she is still her snarky self though somewhat subdued in this latest instalment. I did find the relationship between Keller and Charlotte lacking as he is absent for so much of the book and their relationship never seems to progress so it is not believable to me. Charlotte is not your usual kick ass heroine and still seems a bit gun shy in being the saviour of the paranormal world though she has moments of greatness so I guess that is pretty normal all things considered. I think the threads were tied up quite nicely in this series but it ended with more of a whimper than a big bang.

Elemental Light is book nine of the Paranormal Public series by Maddy Edwards.

Charlotte wanted to graduate. Instead, she got a war. Finally coming to understand her heritage as an elemental, and just how important her family was, she's faced with her last stand against the darkness. Lanca is in trouble near Vampire Locke, Public has been overrun, and Charlotte is left to pick up the pieces of what she can. War is coming. War is here. Can she stand?

Not to mention that Ricky finds out about the paranormal world, Lisabelle does something unspeakable, and Keller is lost to her beyond even dreaming. Charlotte feels alone, and yet still very much in demand. If she can fine a way to win this war once and for all, she might just live up to her father's legacy.

Wow! This was a perfect ending for the series. Charlotte and her friends have faced so much over their time at Paranormal Public and it finally comes down to the final battle. There were parts that had me thinking 'how could she' while at the same time I was believing that somehow some way it was all just an illusion. I loved the ending and that Charlotte was reunited with the people she loves ;)
I loved this series and spent a good part of it coming up with different ideas for who could be the Darkness Premier but I never would have thought it could be....just no.

This is the final book in the series and as I stated before I LOVED the characters and the story line, but the editing is awful and that is putting it mildly. The books constantly contradict themselves, sometimes within just a 100 pages. I would have to skip back and forth to confirm what I knew I had read earlier in the book. It drove me crazy, but yet, I had to find out what was going to happen to them. :)

It is worth the read if you can overlook all the grammatical errors and contradictions throughout the series. My daughter also read the series and she loved it.

Hated it. Afterwards, I ended up permanently deleting the entire series from my account.
Looking back, I could have had a drinking game with the number of times the main character was knocked/passed out. My frequent thoughts while reading 'And down she goes again.....just kill her already. Big threat, can barely stay upright. Stop acting like a Bond villain and kill her.'
It got to the point where I could no longer suspend my disbelief and I stopped caring about the main character.

Love love loved it. I am not sure what I will do now that Charlotte, Keller, Sip, Lisabelle, Lough, Lance and Dacer won't be in my life on a daily basis.

I loved the way it all happened in this book, I must admit I figured the Darkness Premier before they were revelled, may even have realised it a few book back, but still it was a great ending to great books.

now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.

The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.

i would highly recommend this author and this book.

Loved reading this book. So happy to know how it turned out for Charlotte, Keller and the rest of her family and friends. Who the Premier of Darkness turned out to be was surprising. The new characters were interesting and can't wait to read their spin off story.
