Jackson S. Albrecht is one of the most entitled, pretentious, egotistical human beings Tori Wilson has ever met.

He also happens to be one of the best lays she’s ever had.

That one-night stand entangled them much more than Tori would have anticipated—until the publisher she works for threatens to drop Jackson from their author roster, putting an abrupt halt to the situationship.

Never one to keep her mouth shut, however, Tori accidentally comes up with the idea that would not only help Jackson out, but prove she’s
deserving of the promotion she recently received. The catch? In order to do so, she has to join him on the two-week writing retreat he’s been
assigned to attend.

Now it’s up to Tori to help fix Jackson’s attitude, fix his career, and try to do it all without blurring the lines of business and pleasure. What could possibly go wrong?

Tori and Jackson are so amazing! Thank you to the town of Timber creek for forcing them to be themselves!

I LOVE an enemies to lovers trope and she freaking nailed it!!

I think most people can relate to the feeling of second best and she captures that feeling SO WELL! I love that the characters are so relatable!

It was such a great balance of heartfelt, challenging and Spicy!

Also talk about living the dream- no spoilers but the ending??? My dream relationship, partner and job!!!!

She does it again!!!! I can't even explain how much I loved these characters as individuals, as well as the dynamic between them. Tori's sass! I loved it. I think my favorite part of both Tori and Jackson's journey was how they learned how to be vulnerable and accept love right alongside each other. 🥹 also this town!!!! All I want to do is walk to Sunrise Brews on a Saturday morning, sip my coffee in the fresh air and then hit up Ziggy's for dinner. Is that too much to ask for?!?! I'm OBSESSED to say the least!!!💫

MY FAVORITE COUPLE MCKENZIE HAS EVER WRITTEN!!! I feel like with some romance books, the problems that some of the couples face are so outlandish that you cannot relate but the problems that Jackson and Tori face were so real. The banter between the two was hilarious and I loved the shoutout to k-dramas baby! I seriously enjoyed this book so much and I wish we could get more from Tori and Jackson!

Star-Crossed is my favorite book of McKenzie’s yet! There’s nothing better than a small town romance with a variety of side characters that make you fall in love with the fictional town. McKenzie’s world building of Timberland Creek was done so well, and I wish I could walk into Sunrise Brews then to Ziggy’s for a shitty burger 🥹 Officially declaring #takemetotimberland a thing 🙂‍↕️

Grumpy diva writer Jackson needs a change of attitude before the agency doesn't renew his contract for his new book. They decide a 2 week retreat with Tori, one of the only people who can stand him well enough to possibly save his career at the agency. What no one knows is they have been in a situationship for almost a year. Will the time spent in a small town bring them together romantically, or will the stress of trying to write a masterpiece in such a short time threaten to have them at ends.

It's refreshing. I fell in love with every character except for Rahm, that jerk. It flowed so well, and I couldn't stop smiling at the end. I'm definitely reading more of your work. When Jackson was talking to his mom and Tori was listening...omg I was like gurl no no no no its you... he loves you! I'm literally screaming at the book. They had my heart. And when she stood up to Rahm after the little vacation, I was here for it. Like Yes!! Don't cower to this dude. Speak your piece. Then my heart broke for a second when she broke up with Jackson, but then it was all better. Marcus let her read the manuscript. Internally kicking and giggling at all the goodness.

The chemistry was great and I love how she kept trying to guess his middle name. I felt like I was part of the story with how well written it was, and emotionally attached, I got to all the characters. It was easy to flow with the story and feel like their emotions were real. There's small reminder that communication is important and people may act a certain way, not because they are mean or on a high horse, but because they are dealing with past issues or striving to be better.

5 ⭐️ / 3 🌶️

Oooh this was CUTE. I needed a lighthearted romance and McKenzie delivered! This was angsty, spicy, and had alllll the small town Hallmark vibes.

Tori is an actual QUEEN who doesn’t take any shit and I love her for it. Jackson is so dorky and dreamy at the same time. And the twilight references? Instant 5 star for me.
