Chasing Jillian

Rate this book
Score a touchdown with Julie Brannagh's latest Love and Football novel—about discovering who you are and finding love along the way.

Jillian Miller likes her job working in the front office for the Seattle Sharks, but lately being surrounded by a constant parade of perfection only seems to make her own imperfections all the more obvious. She needs a change, which takes her into foreign territory: the Sharks' workout facility after hours. The last thing she expects is a hot, grumbly god among men to be there as witness.

Star linebacker Seth Taylor has had a bad day—well, a series of them recently. When he hits the Sharks' gym to work out his frustration, he's startled to find someone there—and even more surprised that it's Jillian, the team owner's administrative assistant. When he learns of her mission to revamp her lifestyle, he finds himself volunteering to help. Something about Jillian's beautiful smile and quick wit makes him want to stick around. She may not be like the swimsuit models he usually has on his arm, but the more time Seth spends with her, the harder he falls.

And as Jillian discovers that the new her is about so much more than she sees in the mirror, can she discover that happiness and love are oh-so-much better than perfect?

3.5 Finding your Home Stars * * * 1/2

Reading gives us so much... we escape into a story and for moments out of our "Real Life" we are with these characters... a fly on the wall... being there as "their lives" take place. It is the author's choice as to how they take us there, what we see and learn and the final outcome. It is also "their choice" as to whether they include something more than an original story... if they include some insight into a topic which can make a difference in the reader's "Real World".

Julie Brannagh did just that... she has used her skills to highlight the inadequacies of the Foster Care system and put the spotlight on an organization which makes a difference in these children's lives every day. She not only created a main character who was from the system and now making it on her own but also had her giving back to this organization. We saw what this meant to her and how it was as natural as breathing.

We are taken on a journey of discovery for both main characters in this book. Our gal has made it through the system and against all odds, come out the other side as a very capable, loveable person. She acquired the education and skill set to have been hired as the executive assistant to the owner of the Seattle Sharks Football team. The interview process was tough and her boss told her any dating with the team would be grounds for termination. As a quick and unfounded reaction to the no dating policy, she blurted out she was involved with someone so it wouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, right...She was dating like she was going to be the head cheerleader for the team. She knew it was a fib and really didn't understand why she even said it... But now, two months later... it was the story she told everyone. When ever asked, she just said he traveled a lot... or was really, really busy. So far it was working when inquiring minds wanted to know.

She was very sure no football player would be interested in her... Her curves were very curvy and she was not the long legged, model type all of them were seen with in the magazines or events. She didn't care, anyway. She had her life planned out... work hard, help at the Treehouse organization, find all the bargains she could afford and make these other kids like her feel loved and cared for...Oh, and be the best executive assistant ever so she has a job.

She was looking to feel better and get a little exercise in with her DVD but her neighbors didn't appreciate all the stomping overhead. She thought she could use the players gym after work. No one would be there and there was a big open area with a tv/dvd player...so she decided to use it. She didn't know if it was ok...but thought no one would be around, so what would the harm be...

As she is going through the motions, a big handsome player comes into the gym all fired up. He has broken off his relationship with a long time girlfriend. It should have been done before now but he had just let it keep going. He was frustrated with himself and also with the newness of joining this team. He came back to Seattle to be closer to his parents, loved them dearly and now he was just getting himself comfortable back in his home town. As he realizes he is not alone in the gym, he spots her and she looks at him almost like a deer in headlights...

After explaining who she is and why she was there...names are exchanged. He sees a woman who has a bright cute look about her and uses this opportunity to show her how to actually use the gym properly. He explains the treadmill and sets it up for her. She gets on even though she feels embarrassed and a bit awkward. They make small talk and he is very encouraging...She steps off and thanks him. He says bye and both are kinda touched by the moments together.

What is shown to us is a friendship...a way for these two to become friends and actual confidants. It happens slowly, with him seeking her out to walk with her at her lunch time, or him asking if she wants to go on an adventure with him...It doesn't matter what the activity is... these two are developing a bond and both know there is something more than friendship...

Eventually everything comes to a head... she is feeling love and he is too- but is a little blind to it. The way all of it happens works exactly as it should... the author gives a slow burn and then a very sweet ending. My only complaint would be there was No Epilogue....Boo.

But there was lots to enjoy and in keeping with the story, Julie Brannagh is putting her heart out there and giving us as readers a chance to experience her joy. She is contributing a percentage of her first week's sales to The Treehouse, the organization profiled in her book. http://www.treehouseforkids.org/

I enjoyed reading about Jillian and Seth. I thought the storyline was borderline perfect. When the book starts Jillian is over weight and when she meets Seth he offers to help her loose weight. These two become friends and then it blossoms into love.

I enjoyed how their relationship wasn't rushed and how they became friends first. It took months for Seth to even kiss her which was a nice touch. When Seth takes her out to places it's something she mentioned and it was so thoughtful. Even though she looses like 30 lbs she is still a little self conscious about her body and it was so real. I'm glad the author didn't make her some model type. When they kissed for the first time I loved how sweet it was and Seth wanted to take it slow. Although he messes up a few times during the book I thought he always made up for it well.

I was expecting a bit more drama maybe from his ex but that never happened. There wasn't really a drama factor for this book but yet it still worked for me.

I enjoyed the characters and thought the playful banter was a nice touch. The only thing I had an issue with was the ending. Yes he proposes and even though it wasn't rushed he proposes and she says yes and it's like all the sudden it's the end. I guess I just thought their would be a little more after that.

I have only read a few books in this series and honestly I really don't remember who was who so I might have to go back and start the series from the beginning.

Chasing Jillian (Love and Football, #5) by Julie Brannagh Seattle Sharks employee, Jillian Miller, gets caught by star linebacker, Seth Taylor, using the players’ workout facility. He volunteers to help her with her training.

Julie Brannagh creates another invigorating football romance!

It’s hard not to like Jillian. She grew up in foster care. She volunteers at Treehouse to help others in similar situation. She is hard working and kind. She rightfully has some insecurities, but she does her best to overcome them.

I love that Seth helps Jillian. He could have been a jerk when he caught her, but instead he befriends her. He is a good guy who is persistent.

Once again, Julie Brannagh, does a commendable job creating a heartwarming and believable novel. Chasing Jillian is an endearing story that I truly enjoyed. The characters are convincing, and the plot is realistic. Each of her books keeps me coming back for more.

This one in the Sharks series was a major disappointment. It was nowhere near the standard set by the author in the previous novels. The others had characters and plots a reader could get into. This one...not. Boring, boring, boring.

I love romance and I'm a football fanatic, so it's no wonder I enjoy Julie Brannagh's Love and Football series as much as I do. It's been awhile since I picked up one of these books and I have to kick myself for that. (I also need to catch up on the two books I've inexplicably skipped.)

Jillian was a great character. It was easy for me to relate to her and her insecurities and issues with her body. But she was so much more than just her body type. She was smart, compassionate and driven. I loved that she used a painful part of her own past as a motivator for volunteering to help kids who were like her. She was a good person. She was a little shy and awkward socially, but she was trying to improve herself. I know part of this book was about her transformation – physically and mentally, but I thought at times there was a little too much focus put on the physical. (One of those moments being when a HUGE deal was made about her walking a 5K after losing quite a bit of weight. It made her sound as though she was previously morbidly obese and housebound, instead of an otherwise healthy woman who just carried some extra weight.) But, the rest of the book was so good that I'm willing to overlook the moments that were, honestly, off-putting.

I pretty much loved Seth right from the very start. Where can I find a football player just like him? He was a sweet guy. He didn't fall to the stereotypes you frequently find for athletes in books. He was just a regular guy... who happened to be a star football player. He was close with his family. He wanted a successful career. And, he wanted Jillian.

I loved the scene in the gym where they first officially met. It really set the stage for their friendship and what developed from that. I appreciated that he wasn't trying to "fix" her, but instead really get her involved in things he thought she would enjoy doing. He never told her she needed to lose weight or set conditions for any future relationship between them based on her doing that. It was just that he enjoyed watching her come out of her cocoon as much as I did and he wanted to be part of it. Of course, things are kinda messy because they're not supposed to be dating – team rules and all – but there's no denying how things are unfolding between them.

Chasing Jillian was just a good, fun read. It wasn't overly angsty or too dramatic. I'm a sucker for friends first stories and I was drawn into this one immediately. I liked how the "team wives" invited Jillian in and the friendships they formed. (And of course, I enjoyed seeing what my favorite couples from earlier in the series are up to.) I really liked both the characters and thoroughly enjoyed reading along as they figured each other out – and learned a little bit about themselves along the way.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review.

Until I was introduced to Brannagh as an author I never had a large interest in the reading of sport's romance novels. This fact is a little odd I will admit since I am a die-hard football fan. Still, I didn't think romance novels would be able to find the right balance between the sports and the romance without seeming unrealistic, well I was wrong.

From the start of the Love and Football series I have been hooked. I cannot seem to get enough from these books nor the characters. Everything I love most about both football and about romance is found within these books and Finding Jillian was yet another sizzling read.

I adored the chemistry between Jillian and Seth. Their little antics they shared together made this book an exceptional romance that I know readers are going to enjoy as much I did. Like the chemistry the romance was equally entertaining. I could really fell the romance between the characters and I was rooting for Seth to win Jillian's heart.

As for Jillian herself I thought at times she was a little too hard on herself. Seth had a much more laid back personality mostly due to his established career. At first I thought perhaps that Jillian and Seth would not make for an ideal couple but once I started reading the book my doubts quickly faded.

I would highly recommend reading this series whether or not you love football isn't important. I think what is important is that Brannagh writes fun, romantic twists into her novels while still maintaining the heart in both the sport and in romance and I could not be happier.

Seth can seriously be adorable, “the hell? It’s a kitty, not a dessert in a four-star restaurant.” He looked into the kitten’s eyes. “I can’t believe you let her name you that.” Seth is a little protective, possessive, and hot-headed when it comes to Jillian and him thinking of her with other men, “no, she won’t,” Seth said as he lunged at Kade. Four guys held him back as he tried to get anywhere near Kade." Seth prefers his woman au-natural when sleeping, “don’t wear that thing again,” he muttered into her ear. “I’ll keep you warm.” He wrapped one arm around her waist again and cupped her breast in his hand." This book was cute and sweet and I loved it.

This is book #5 in Love and Football series.

It is the story of Jillian Miller and Seth Taylor.

Jillian likes her job. She works in the front office for the Seattle Sharks. Lately she has been surrounded by a constant parade of perfections that make her point out her own imperfections.
She is looking for a change and it takes her into the Shark's workout facility after hours. She is in foreign territory and the last thing she expects is a hot, and grumpy man to be there as a witness.

Seth is a star linebacker. He has had a bad day, more than one day recently. He hits the gym to work out his frustration and is startled to find someone there. He is even more surprised to find out it is Jillian. He learns of her mission to revamp her lifestyle and volunteers to help. He really enjoys being around her beautiful smile and quick wit and wants to stick around her. He spends more time with her, and starts to fall for her. She may not be the swimsuit models he usually has on his arm, but he is okay with that.

Jillian soon discovers that her new her is about so much more than her reflection in the mirror. She may discover happiness and love are much better than perfect.

Loved the premise of this however, I got about 100 pages in before I started skimming and then, finally, decided to DNF this. The storytelling was slow and inconsistent. It isn't until after about 50 pages that Jillian mentions being told she can't date one of the football players - if this was the conflict, surely it'd come up right at the beginning? And at this time the fake boyfriend is introduced but this didn't work either. Also, the secondary characters were poorly used, especially the best friend. Jillian only seemed to contact her when things were going badly. I also felt like her weight loss journey ended up taking a backseat to other stuff (can't tell you what exactly, there was almost too much going on). I also didn't really buy into Seth and Jillian having feelings for each other - they had barely talked to one another on the page when Seth was already thinking she could be the one. Also, Jillian's behaviour was inconsistent and I couldn't quite see why Seth was so interested in her at times. Overall, this didn't work for me and the writing wasn't strong enough to keep me engaged. I am not sure about continuing with this series.

I read this book sitting by the pool in one day.
Jillian was a sweet girl, but I wanted more from both her and Seth, personality-wise. I know Seth is supposed to be in love with her but I just didn’t really feel his romantic side.

Also a big part of the book is the fact that Jillian was a foster kid but they literally gloss over her telling Seth in a throwaway line that is basically “she told Seth about growing up”. It’s like the author completely forgot she needed to write that and just threw it in in a last minute edit.

This was a pretty cute book, but it lacked scene development. I felt like Brannagh could've expounded the scenes a little bit more, not just left them as cut and dried as they ended up being.

I did enjoy the book despite it being about an insecure woman who does a lot of things just to be accepted. I know that, unfortunately, there's a lot of women out there who are like that.

Julie Brannagh's books are like candy- sweet, tasty and oh, so good. So is the case of Chasing Jillian (Love and Football #5). This is a feel good romance within a sports romance. The hero and heroine start out as friends, who become much more to one another. Their interactions are adorable to the max, and Seth, the hero is a top notch book boyfriend. The heroine Jillian has realistic issues and doubts most women have, but her quirks aren't annoying, but endearing. Watching her come out of her shell with the help of Seth is the big pay off here.

Jillian is the new personal assistant to the owner of the Sharks. She wants to make some major changes in her life, specifically lose some weight and stop being a hermit. Because she can't afford a gym membership, she uses the Sharks exercise facility after work. She's caught by Seth, the new linebacker, who just broke things off with his girlfriend who never appreciated him. Jillian thinks she's in trouble for using the exercise equipment, and may be fired because Seth doesn't seem happy that she's there. But realizing he has frightened Jillian, he gives her some pointers to help her enjoy exercising. Jillian is cautious of Seth because he's just so good looking and a hot shot sports celebrity. But Seth seems to be a really nice guy who really wants to help Jillian. The very next day he's there to speed walk with her during her lunch break, and wants to make plans with her outside work. Seth needs a friend, or so he says to Jillian, who just can't understand why he would want to hang out with boring her. But since Seth is pushy (try more like lovable pushy), he gets Jillian to enjoy things outside her comfort zone.

Soon Jillian becomes comfortable around Seth, even though she is very attracted to him. Seth thinks Jillian is something special, but doesn't want to ruin their new friendship, so he tries to ignore his growing feelings for her. Jillian is also worried about her job because her boss gives her a subtle warning about dating his players, including Seth. No one wants Jillian hurt, least of all Seth, who wants to be with her all the time. The question is, can they make it work, and is Seth willing to settle down with Jillian who eventually wants to get married and have a family she has always desired because of growing up in foster care?

Chasing Jillian is a very enjoyable contemporary romance set in the world of football. Julie writes the best type of heroes. Seth is a prince of a man. He is so in tune to Jillian and her slight self-esteem issues. He thinks she's great as is, even though she wants to better herself, which for her means to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. Jillian also has a cute kitty Seth also adores. Seth is the type of hero who wouldn't mind snuggling and cuddling in bed. He's also a big giver, which is shown perfectly when he and Jillian take things to the next level.

Chasing Jillian is another winner from Julie. I will never grow bored of the Love and Football series. A feel good romance with great characters, plot and setting.

I do love sport romances, and CHASING JILLIAN was no different. It didn't go quite as deep as I've found myself craving from books as of late, but the skimmed surface was cute and fun.

Jillian works for the NFL team, Sharks. She's been in a romantic rut -- one that I totally relate to. She's busy, but more than that, she's spent years insecure and dating was just not an option. Now she's making changes and the first? Working out.

But she can't afford a gym, so she sneaks into the Sharks' -- and just when she's managing to get through her difficult DVD, a booming voice stops her.

Seth is new to the Sharks, so he's not quite sure who this woman is in the gym. After he gets past his own startledness (not a word, shh), he quickly befriends her and helps her.

He learns through this friend process, though, that women and men are different on a few things -- something he actually learns from his sister because Jillian is too embarrassed to say. Weight and swimsuits? Not something a girl wants to necessarily share with a man.

This was a cute story. I loved that Seth fell for Jillian. He knew that if he ever wanted to get to the part of life he craved (wife, family), he needed to look beyond the models and superstars he'd been dating. When he first meets Jillian, no, he doesn't figure her to be the one for him, but he enjoys her company. They take walks on her lunch, they hang out... and slowly Seth finds himself falling for her.

I loved that the other relationships in the story helped Seth and his journey. I would love to go back and read the others in this LOVE AND FOOTBALL series simply because the men seem so down to earth and real. Sure, there are the stereotypical football players on the roster, but the ones Seth befriends, the ones who live in his neighborhood and talk about their wives and kids, the ones who are afraid of the little girl soccer team because they only have sons... I enjoyed them.

This is the latest in a series centered around the Seattle Sharks football team. It is about a new player to the team and the team owner’s assistant.
I generally dislike books where one character (usually the female) undergoes physical changes (usually weight loss) to be more attractive. While Jillian does set out to lose weight, she does it to get healthier, not look perfect, and it’s not a predominant part of the story – it provides the “meet-cute.”
Jillian is the new administrative assistant to the team’s owner. Between her job and volunteer work, she’s trying to fit in a fitness plan. So, she takes advantage of the team gym after hours, where she gets caught by a player, Seth. He shows her how to use the treadmill and continues to support her as they begin a friendship.
Jillian grew up in foster care and wants to be surrounded with friends. She also needs the security and stability of her job. She knows the previous assistant was let go after getting involved with a player, so she’s determined to keep Seth firmly in the friend category. Even though he’s close to his family, Seth has no plans to settle down anytime soon. But he hadn’t counted on Jillian and finds that maybe he does want that. This is the main source of conflict that these two have to find their way around.
I really enjoyed their romance. It’s sweet and doesn’t feel rushed. They both want someone to love them for THEM. Seth is fed up with ladies wanting him because he’s a rich athlete. Jillian is pretty self-assured but does have a few moments of doubt that Seth would want her for the long haul. She has trouble believing someone will actually stick this time. Once they moved past their insecurities, beautiful things happened.
I have loved this whole series and it was nice catching up with previous couples. I do think this book would be enjoyable and stand on its own if you haven’t read the others.

Is possible to be just friends? In Chasing Jillian, we see Seth and Jillian develop a friendship. Actually, I thought it was extremely cute on how Julie went about to write this story. So, we have Jillian who is a little overweight and would like to change that, but she doesn't have the funds so she goes into Shark's weight room. She ends up getting caught by Seth and he's gruff and kind of scary. LOL. Seriously, I would probably crap my pants. Anyway, he kind of puts her at ease. Not really, because he's a hot guy and she sees herself a frumpy nobody. However, she wins him over with her charm and their begins the an unlikely friendship.

I adore the story, because we have these two characters who have an unlikely friendship that slowly blossoms to something more. I mean SLOWLY. Each of them develop feelings for one another, but they don't know how to deal with it. Which causes them to stay in the "friend-zone" longer than necessary. However, it was important that they stay in this zone for more of the majority of the story. You wondering why: 1) Seth had just ended a relationship 2) Jillian is a little self-conscious and doesn't believe a guy like Seth would want her. A lot of Jillian insecurities stem from growing up in foster care. It's hard for her to overcome these insecurities.

These two are just so adorable, because they do everything together. I love that they developed a friendship, before diving into relationship this showed what they really wanted in life. The friendship helped Seth see that he was willing to let Jillian in his life. Overall, Chasing Jillian is an adorable read. If you are hankering for a football player and a friends-to-lovers story, you might have found the winning combination in Chasing Jillian.

I wanted low-angst, light reading – I’ve had a chunk of heavier angsty reads of late, and Chasing Jillian looked to be just what I needed. Jillian works in the front office of the Seattle Sharks: a bit shy and quiet, she wants to lose some weight, and uses the training facilities when no one will be around to tell her no, or to notice her. Determined to move forward from the issues she developed in foster care, she was easy to relate to and understand.

Seth is a player on the team, and one of the many that never make headlines for off-field behavior. An all-around nice guy, he walks in on Jillian using the machines, and offers to help her achieve her goals. There’s little not to like about Seth: he’s friendly, honest and caring and while he is attracted to her, he won’t risk their growing friendship or her position with the team since relationships with players is forbidden.

Tentative friendship begins as Seth takes the time to get to know Jillian, and she blossoms under this relationship. Both are attracted to one another, but it takes time for Jillian to understand that Seth sees beneath the walls and shell that she has put up. No real stress or angst here – just a solid construction of a relationship that grows as Jillian does, and couldn’t have been more perfect for the two involved. A wonderful introduction to this series – it stands perfectly well alone, but entices readers to want to know more. I know I do.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via Edelweiss for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This is my first time reading a book from Julie Brannagh but after reading Chasing Jillian I do want to go back and read the other books in the series. It can be read as a standalone but the glimpses I got of the other characters has peaked my interest. I really enjoyed this one except for a few points.

I could definitely relate to Jillian and her self consciousness over her body (though I did find it slightly irritating that despite her body being described as fleshy and overweight enough to have lost 40 lbs, the cover shows a super skinny woman. I guess that must be the after photo? lol). It was nice to see an athlete who actually looked beyond the surface and was kind to Jillian even before truly knowing her. I loved seeing the relationship between Seth and Jillian build and though the story was relatively drama free I still had fun reading it. The only small bit of drama is because of what really is a silly reason but again I could relate to Jillian and while logically her over reaction seemed overdone I can see where she was coming from.

All in all an enjoyable read. The main reason I didn't rate it higher is that while it was fun to read it wasn't truly memorable. It was missing the dark moment where we usually get to see the couple really figure out how much they belong together and grow individually from this realization. Everything in this story seemed almost too easy and neither character had to stretch outside of their current personal outlook to really realize the other person was perfect for them.

I love Seth and Jillian! Both together and as individuals.
Jillian has overcome a tough foster care childhood. She is kind, caring, graceful spirit, always willing to help others, and she is overweight, but determined to do something about it. She doesn't have many people in her corner, but she is a true survivor.
Seth is ready for a change, he has a yearning for something more in his life, than just the success on the football field. He is thoughtful, protective, giving, and kind.
They are both so easy to like, admire, and relate to.
As Seth and Jillian set out to be friends, the true thoughtfulness of Seth comes forward. They have the best time together, doing fun things, and seeing the town. They are getting to know each other, support each other, and are there for each other, giving the reader so many swoon worthy scenes!
But as their feelings for each other grow, and their relationship takes a more physical aspect, Jillian's insecurities come to play, and she pulls away from Seth.
I liked that Seth was so vulnerable with Jillian, he really felt for her, and was willing to do anything to make their relationship work.
The timeline was a bit jerky, markedly so. And I wish some of the important events and conversations in Seth and Jillian's relationship were paid more attention to, or given more details into them. But despite those issues, I truly enjoyed the story, Seth and Jillian are adorable, full of life, love, passion, and kindness

This was my first book by Julie Brannagh it was really good. I really enjoyed reading about Jillian and Seth. This book flowed nicely and was told from both Jillian and Seth’s POV.

Jillian was the personal assistant to the owner of the Seattle Sharks. One night after everyone was gone she snuck downstairs to the weight room and put in her workout video she has always been self-conscious about her weight. But she was surprised when Seth showed up.

Seth was a football player. He was shocked to find someone in the weight room and he had no idea who she was. But after she introduced herself he decided to help her exercise in exchange for her help in showing him around town. They had an instant friendship. Seth found himself always wanting to be around Jillian. Soon his feelings for her were more than just friends. Was he ready for the more?

Jillian was ready for a committed relationship. She wanted a family something she has never had since she lost her mom was she was little and bounced around from foster home to foster home. But she was worried Seth wasn’t ready to make that same commitment. Would he ever be?

This was a good book I wouldn’t mind reading more if there ever is another book about Jillian and Seth. If you like a good football romance definitely check this out.

Received this book in exchange for an honest review.

For the life of my I can't figure out why I had this on my Nook. Goodreads tells me none of my friends have read it, and this is pretty much where I get all my romance recommendations so ?????? I really want to know the source because I'm never trusting them again.

Wow this was terrible. But it was laughably terrible. I read the whole thing because I couldn't look away. This is apparently the fifth in a series about football players. (I'm assuming all the ones we were introduced to that are happily married and procreating in this volume are from the earlier books.) Each football player is completely indistinguishable from the other and that includes the hero. Half way through the book I was still pausing at names and thinking, "Wait who's this book about again?" So, massive failure on the character development. There are massive info dumps, and their isn't even a lame attempt to disguise it as dialogue. Just paragraphs of back story the characters think about themselves. And speaking of the dialogue, it is so awful. It's like listening to a child play with dolls pretending to talk the way they think grown-ups talk. (At one point the hero was talking sexy to the heroine, and I actually literally laughed out loud. It was so so so bad.) The pacing is all over the place and there is no continuity from one scene to the next. Definitely do not recommend.

Jillian Miller and Seth Taylor become friends when he is drafted to play with the Sharks team that she works for. She is assistant to the owner. The owner tells her that men in football are a bad bet. So she already has lack of trust in relationships going in.

Jillian and Seth do just about everything together and enjoy being friends. Seth loves hanging out with her and texting her makes him laugh. Jillian confronts her boss and lets him know she is enjoying a relationship with his player and he can fire her if he must.

Seth and Jillian are happy together until one amazing night spoils it all. Now she is trying to back away from him as fast as she can. He just wants to see where they can go if she will let them. He is as vulnerable as she is when it comes to permanent. It is new for bother of them.

Their feelings are real and it is time to own up to what they have going on between them. Many of his teammates are in relationships, or married, and encourage him to man up and pop the question already! Such a great book with all your favorites from the Love and Football series. This is book # 5.

No one does football romance stories quite like Ms. Brannagh! With each new addition to the "Love and Football" series she continues to surprise me and also reaffirms my belief that she is a master at her craft!

Just when I think I've found my favorite character in the series she introduces me to a new player in the game that sweeps in and changes my mind. Seth Taylor not only captured Jillian's heart, but cemented a special place in mine too. I truly enjoyed reading Seth and Jillian's story, it was truly the perfect romance story! It made me laugh, shed a tear or two, left me with a permanent smile on my face, and had me blushing a few times too, & for me it doesn't get much better than that! Jillian is the first female character in the series to really resonate with me, she was feisty, witty, honest, realistic and quite inspiring too! As for Seth... I'll just say he was QUITE inspiring too!

If you like good heart-ed alpha males who happen to play football, this is DEFINITELY the series for you! It's guaranteed to leave a smile on your face, and a new book boyfriend in your heart! Hands down best football romance series out there!

I absolutely loved Chasing Jillian by Julie Brannagh as it is a twist on Romance genre at it's finest. I absolutely loved both characters and the friendship that the two pursued prior to entering into a relationship. Brannagh has a way with romance, making you swoon as Seth tries to win her love.

I loved how the two first met and how it was chemistry from the moment they first spoke. I found myself rooting them on as they fought so hard to deny the attraction between the two. I couldn't keep myself from putting down the book and read it within a day as it was that good. The characters seemed so real and were very well developed. Jillian was a character with whom I instantly connected with, struggling with herself identity and her body. I felt for her as she compared herself to all the women who Seth had previously been with - the wafer thin model types as she couldn't stop comparing herself to them.

This is definitely a must add to your To-Be-Read Shelf, and for romance readers who love the sports twist this a definite must read! I can't wait to go back and start from scratch in this series, as this was the first book I have read by Julie Brannagh and boy was it a good one! Great read!

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.

My Thoughts:

Jillian is determined to lose weight, so she decides to start using the equipment at the place she works when nobody will know she's doing it. That's when she runs into Seth. He's surprised to find her there, but when he finds out what her plan is, he wants her to achieve her goals. They become friends, with an underlying possibility of something more. It doesn't happen immediately, but when it does, talk about swoonage, people. Melting your heart swoonage. There are some speed bumps along the way, but their hearts will lead them in the right direction.

Chasing Jillian is a super sweet new friendship slowly turned romance. I thoroughly enjoyed the slow build. Seth and Jillian are adorable together, and the depth of their feelings shows in the way they interact and talk to each other. It was great to watch Jillian break free from her comfort zone with Seth's help. All in all, a great romance by Julie Brannagh! I'd love to get caught up on the rest of the Love and Football series!

My Rating: Very Good
