Some people are born under a lucky star. Caleb is not one of them.
Dragon shifter Caleb's only hope of breaking his family's devastating bad luck curse is an ancient, badly burned parchment. The incredibly useful surviving directions are as
1. Find ----- ome of the Aurum Lacu---------
2. Prep--------- caref----------
3. BEWARE! If not ---------------- DEATH --------------- HORROR BEYOND IMAGINING
That, and a clue leading him to a small town called Girdwood Springs, are all he has to go on.
What he hadn't counted on finding in his search was a beautiful, determined woman… who just happened to be his fated mate. And who has just busted him for committing what might technically be considered trespassing.
What else could possibly go wrong?
With a property developer seeking to raze her beloved forest to the ground, ranger Kira has enough on her plate already. And now, to top it all off, some smoking hot guy with zero camping knowledge and an inability to read signs saying "DO NOT ENTER" has apparently decided to go on a strange scavenger hunt in her forest.
Obviously, it's in her best interest that she personally escorts this oddly charming weirdo around the area. Helps him pitch a tent. Shares a cup of coffee with him. Confides her fears about the forest's future to him. Falls head over heels, in more ways than one.
Together, with a little skill, a lot of courage, and some fated mate destiny, maybe they can turn their luck around.
Dragons and Cupcakes is a short and sweet shifter romance full of warmth, humor, and fated mates fun. A cute, quirky listen with a guaranteed HEA!
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
I felt so bad for Caleb at the start. That curse was really dragging down his life. Getting rid of it would be great, that in the quest to do that he found his mate and a place where his dragon could thrive was all the better. I probably shouldn't have, but I laughed at all the bad things happening while Caleb was under the curse and hadn't told Kira what was doing on, so many awful things happened. Once Kira was in the know and they enlisted Gale and Sylvie things really changed quickly. Once the bad luck was gone, then Caleb could use the dragon luck to help her with her problem. In the end things worked out great for them both!
This one felt a bit commonplace. The curse problem too easy. I mean generations and then poof? But I did like the story and really love this series. Good read!
Caleb is traveling to Girdwood Springs to search for the cure for his cursed family. Someone each generation has manifested the curse and he is the one in his. Cursed centuries ago, with bad luck and now no one knows why or has the ability to reverse it. All he has is a burned parchment that he needs to interpret correctly. There's a huge warning sort of spelled out on the parchment.
He figures he's looking for some sort of golden artifact in the Girdwood Springs Forest, since Aurum means gold in Latin. Of course, his car breaks down and with no cell phone service he walks up the mountain to the town.
Girdwood Springs Forest has its own issues with the protective trust expiring and Kira Dearborn, who is a ranger there, is feeling the pressure with Tongle & Heit Property Developments' people tromping through like they already own it. The thing is the trust was supposed to be for perpetuity but somehow the will and paperwork stating that has gone missing.
Kira starts her workday thinking about everything that is happening, and her run ins with the head honcho of Tongle & Heit she starts checking trails, beginning with one already closed. It's here she runs into Caleb, and she thinks he's working for Tongle & Heit.
So now instead of just one goal, Caleb has two. First break the curse then find the proof to stop Tongle & Heit.
A few incidents in and Caleb knows he has to divulge everything to Kira including the fact he's a dragon. When he shows her what's left of the directions to reverse the curse, she knows exactly what he's looking for and where to find it. He will also have to enlist the help of Silvie and Gale.
Fun, adventurous, intriguing and a dragon with a one track mind, Mate!
This book can be read as a stand-alone, but to understand the relationships with the secondary characters, you should read the first book beforehand.
Kira is the Park Ranger fighting to save the forest from being bought by a major real estate firm. They want to build a ski resort and a mall in it's place. The only thing preventing them from building right away is late owner's lost will. Kira has a few weeks left to try and find that lost will. The will deeded the town the forest and land for life, but it mysteriously disappeared.
Caleb is a dragon shifter who's family was cursed many centuries ago and he inherited the curse. It gives him bad luck. Dragons are known for their good luck. So he's come to town to search the forest for the cure.
But he never thought he'd meet his dated mate in the process. Can Kira help him find what he needs to reverse the curse? If so, he might be able to help her find that will.
A cute story and I loved the different characters. Caleb has nothing but bad luck. He inherited the family curse and is looking to get rid of it. He has only part of a parchment to go by and knows he has to go to Girdwood Springs to find the way to lift the curse. First thing, he meets Kira and instantly he and his dragon recognize her as his mate. She is human. How will she take it when he tells her what he is and that he is cursed. Turns out that Kira is the key to finding the way to lift the curse. Then they have to go after the dragon who is trying to buy up the woods to turn it into a resort. Kira has vowed to do all she can to prevent that from happening. Can they lift the curse and save the woods? Will she even believe him, or will she run screaming when he reveals his dragon?
Caleb has part of a parchment that tells him how to get rid of the curse that is on him. One person each generation inherits the family curse and he was the lucky one this generation. The parchment is partially destroyed in places only giving hints as to what is needed and how to prepare it. Caleb goes to the ranger station and finds his mate is the ranger at the station his dragon is excited. He learns from Kira someone is trying to buy the parkland. There's a will that says the land is to stay parkland but the will was burned in a fire. Caleb decides to tell Kira that he's a dragon and show her, she's not afraid and doesn't freak out. Tells her about the curse and if he can break it he might be able to help her find the will. She agrees to help him. Good story, like the characters.
Features: 🐉A dragon shifter with a generational family curse, armed with one cryptic clue on how to break it.
🧁 A park ranger focused on saving her beloved forest before devolpers buy it.
🐉 Meet/cute & love at first sight. Closed door, no spice.
🧁Takes place in a small mountain town and references characters from the first book.
🐉Feels like a perfectly cozy, fantasy style Hallmark movie.
Overall, I am really enjoying this series so far. The romances are very sweet and the setting is incredibly cozy. Loved the hero with his bad luck curse and the awkward first date was pretty fun. The story references the couple from the first book, but it can be read out of order. The ending was absolutely perfect and heartwarming.
I really enjoyed this sweet love story of Kira and Caleb. Caleb is a dragon shifter whose family was cursed with bad luck seven generations ago. He believes the cure for the curse is in small town Girdwood Springs. He is hopeful to fix the curse and be able to live a normal life. Kira is a park ranger in the small tourist town but upset that her beloved forest will soon be sold to a developer. Caleb recognizes Kira as his mate as soon as they meet. The story was well written, the characters were well developed, and the storyline engaging. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, real life issues, imperfect characters, laughter, and so much love. Another great Zoe Chant book.
Book two there really is not many characters in this series kira was not in the first book and yet she is Sylvies friend and a local grow up in this small town and is the ranger for the local forest. The first two main characters from book one is in this one a little but it doesn't matter if you haven't read book one but always good to know characters background or it's a spoiler and your at the end of that story. I only just read book one this morning and this one now (well it is sunday) they are a fun read and very PG which I like it's classy.both characters was new so I guess anything can happen for book three.
This such a wonderful happily ever after story. I love the characters and I love Zoe Chant's take on shifter books. Yes, there's danger, but not the sad or gory kind. And there's sex, but it's making love, not lust-filled, highly graphic, push the boundaries groping. There's mystery, but there's no confusing trail of red herrings. This series is such a pleasure to read. It's the perfect retreat after coping with an imperfect world. Enjoy!
Having a curse your whole life is a real bummer. When the dragon shifter is given an ancient document from the clan who laid the curse on his family he heads to the small town to find the gold something.Too many parts were missing.Instead he finds his park ranger mate.Together they figure it out and stop the other Dragon clan who is trying to buy land and destroy the small town.
This is a short, sweet shifter romance, with a little paranormal thread in the form of a bad luck curse. The characters are interesting and likeable, and the setting beautiful and needing to be saved from greedy developers. There is plenty of heat, but no graphic sex, little to no profanity, and a HEA. If you enjoy a good, clean shifter romance, you are sure to enjoy this story, and this author.
What an interesting book. A dragon coming to find a cute for the bad luck curse that had followed him all his life. Not only did he find the cure, but also his mate. I liked that characters from a previous book were brought in to help with his search. It will help to read these books in order to understand the background of this book. A defeated land developer, ending his curse, making new friends and finding his mate all contributed to their HEA.
Caleb the 🐉was cursed and ended up finding his mate with Kira the Park Ranger. Together they help each other with their mission to save the town forest 🌳 from destruction by a greedy dragon 🐉. With the help of two other friends one a Unicorn 🦄 and his mate the baker Kira and Caleb finally find a way to break the curse. Now it’s time to save the forest 🌳. It’s incredible!! I love ❤️ this book 📖!!
I enjoyed this shifter romance. Without the coarse language and the open-door intimacy of most shifter romances, this is a breath of fresh air. It's a sweet romance between a cursed dragon film buff and a forest ranger who loves nature. There is light suspense with an opposing side, but nothing that detracts from this lovely romance. 5 happy little stars -ncv
We meet Caleb, a cursed Dragon Shifter and Kira, the local Park Ranger.
Caleb's curse brings him to Gridwood Springs in hopes of finding a cure for the curse that's been placed upon his family & himself (this generation)...within Gridwood Springs Park itself.
It only took me a few hours to read through this and it was very light and enjoyable escape.
We have appearances of Gale and Sylvie from the previous book as well.

It was a little slow to get started for me but once the ball got rolling, f felt like one of those adventure games. Venture to A to pick up B to make C in order to complete Task D. That’s when the story became fun…and we got to see Gale again!
Love how mate magic always has everything fall in place when you find tour other half. With only a partially burnt scroll to go from they still discovered what they were looking for to break the curse. Then having your best friend be a baker, mated to a unicorn solved the rest of the problem.
Small Town girl overcomes giant corporation with the help of her mythical boyfriend
Small town forest ranger just looking for a way to save the preserve she loves, cursed dragon shifter is looking for the cure and finds his fated mate. Love can conquer anything, even giant corporations.
Dragons and Cupcakes (Shifters and Sweets Book 2) by Zoe Chant. Caleb is a dragon shifter who is cursed. He needs to go to Girdwood Springs to find the way to lift the curse. What he finds is Ranger Kira, she is his mate. Together they have to find the way of lifting the curse and save Girdwood Springs forest.
This is book two in the Shifters and Sweets series and its was just as fun and sweet as the first. Caleb and Kira are fated mates and it was great fun to see how they overcome the obstacle s in their way to get to their HEA. I enjoyed seeing the couple from the first book. The book was well paced and I couldn't put it down. Hopefully there will be more.
Caleb travels down the mountain to Girdwood Sprigs looking for a cure to his incessant bad luck, breaking the curse on his family. Meeting Kira, a ranger, saddened by the upcoming loss of the land she loves to developers, makes Caleb happy to recognize her as his mate. But Caleb has a short timeframe to search, cure himself and elate his mate who knows nothing about his world. Rating: 3stars
Caleb is a dragon shifter and cursed. Kira is a forest ranger and trying to save her forest from developer. When Caleb and Kira met he knew she was his mate but he was worried that the curse that had plagued him since birth would be dangerous for her. Working together they saved the forest and lifted the curse from Caleb and his family.
It's just another amazing job of storytelling by Chant!!! Don't forget to check out her first book in this series. She creates some awesome stories that will draw you into her story and make it come to life!! Jump in and root for the mates who want to save the forest.
Caleb is a dragon shifter with a big problem. He's cursed. Kira is a park ranger with big problem. The forestland where she lives and works is being acquired by some hotshot developers.
The romance is sweet and funny. Solving the multiple suspicious storylines was well-done and interesting. It was fun to also see the characters from the first book included.
Book 2: dragons and cupcakes from series Shifters and Sweets is of course unique and sweet. I found it extremely enjoyable and hard to put down being a page turner for me. It was like reading a suspense in looking for clues to find items for a specific cupcake recipe. Along with finding ways to save a forest in being ripped apart
I would have been tempted to call this on 'Kira and Curses'. The story was great! Fated Mates really can do anything together when they put their mind to it. Wonderful characters and a sweet HEA. A must for shifter lovers. This is my voluntary opinion of an advanced copy I received.
This was a good story with a great plot and cast of characters and is packed with action, suspense, emotion and a little magic. He must protect whats his at all cost. Has some twists and turns to make it interesting. Must read
There are no sex scenes. They are not needed this is a simple love story with a seedy, land grubbing villain. The characters are nice, charismatic & loyal. Very good love story.
