The latest book based on the popular Print & Pattern website, Print & Geometric celebrates beautiful surface designs, patterns, and motifs made from geometric shapes such as circles, triangles, hexagons, etc. The patterns included reflect current trends for tribal, Aztec, and Native American designs, along with Scandinavian influences, and more mathematical and scientific looks. Product areas covered will include stationery, cards, and giftwrap, fabrics, wallpaper, rugs, ceramics, homewares, gadget skins, and more. Documenting the work of the best designers in the field, the book will be an invaluable source of reference and inspiration for surface designers, designer makers and craftspeople, graphic designers, illustrators, and textile designers.
Really fun to look at. I'm writing down artists I want to learn more about. I enjoyed trying to copy a few for a creative exercise. Seems like it would be a very specific art style, but there is a lot of different ways to create or interpret geometric patterns. I know I'll be looking at this over and over.
So far my favorite pattern design book. I will never finish reading this book. I always come back to find some inspiration. I love the variation offered in this book; the media, color palettes, and styles. My fave designers in this book include (but not limited to) Yao Cheng, Vasare Nar, Ana Montiel, Wendy Kendall, and many more. I wrote a more comprehensive review (and sneak peek of the book) in my blog. Click HERE.
