One Is Never Enough: Dark Desires, Book 1

Rate this book
What do you do when all your fantasies come true and then they're ripped away from you?

After years of being ashamed of what my body wanted, I took a leap and signed up for a fantasy through Dark Desires with three masked men. What was only supposed to be one night of sexual freedom quickly turned into a whirlwind romance with two of my masked strangers. That is until the third man was revealed and it all came crashing down around me.

I chose to walk away from the men who did unspeakable things to my mind, body, and soul.

But they're not giving me up without a fight.

Will the repercussions be worth it if our story comes to light, or will I lose more than my heart?

One is Never Enough is a part of the Dark Desires series and is the continuation of the novella Only for Tonight. Each book can be listened to as a standalone but will have characters cross over from other books in the series. This is an MMMM romance and intended for mature listeners.

one star is more than enough

i was already kind of disappointed by the switch in the relationship from the novella but then it transformed in some sort of bad wattpad drama and i don’t know if i should be glad because i haven’t laughed that hard in months or pissed off because i waited ages for this mess

GIVE ME LELAND, ZAC AND VINCE AND GIVE ME THEM NOW!
Oh my! This was a freaking rollercoaster! Hot ASF, beautiful ASF, HEARTWARMING ASF and lowkey painful ASF too.
I binged the hell out of this and I don’t regret it!
I adore the friendship between Leland and Oliver and how that translated to Leland being protected and loved my Oliver’s boys!!
The found family it’s top tier!!
This is an ARC read and I 100% recommend.

This is bad. Really bad. Even by Wattpad standards.

No idea why I picked it up tbh, but for some reason it found its way on my kindle and I needed something to read, so I gave it a go.

The first 10% seemed ok, despite the fact that we had time jumps - Oliver obviously had a sexual relationship with 3 guys for a few months, one of them masked, only to find out that the masked one is his sister’s ex boyfriend. That’s why he safewords out and subsequently blocks every single attempt the other two make to explain themselves.

Then, at around 13%, after Oliver almost (literally) jumps from a cliff (and finds out that his best friend almost jumped from the same cliff 🙄), everything turns out be to one big misunderstanding solved in ONE page, and OLIVER goes back to them, APOLOGISING and wanting to make amends.

Uh. No. That’s too plain stupid. Henceforth dnf at 15 % 🙄

2.5 stars rounded to 3 stars.

If you want to read some extremely amazing sex, read this. If you also wanted a good plot, you are out of luck. I would rate this 5 stars if I was just basing this on the sex. It was so good. I was not let down at all in that department. I would give 2 stars based on the plot. It just wasn’t there. And I would give 0 stars for the ending. It was just a dramatic wattpad ending. It was honestly ridiculous. Another odd thing is I figured we would start this where the novella left off, but that didn’t happen. The first 10 or so chapters of this book is the novella all over again. Not a big deal, I just skipped them. But it was quite odd. Okay now you have all the facts. Enjoy. Or not.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

It is kinda meh. Feels unnecessary as a whole. More like short novella got dragged out way too much and now it is a full time book.

Good news... this was a spectacular audiobook! Bad news... almost everything else 😂

When I say this was a spectacular audiobook, I mean couldn't ask for better, top tier, catch your headphones on fire, AMAZING 🔥🔥🔥 Corvin King & Declan Winters. Corvin King has done very little MM romance so far, but if you loved him in For the Fans, you're going to love him here. And to be paired with Declan Winters? Hands-down perfection 😌

The story though... ehhhhh. Not so much. It started off great. 3 on 1 sex club fantasy gone right. The problem? The book continued after that 🫠 It was actually okay for a little bit, and it could have gone really well, but it turned into some crazy Wattpad fever dream or something I don't even know 🙃

Looking at other reviews, apparently this was once a novella? I never read it, so I have no idea what went down there, but I'm guessing maybe it was the good parts of this and people wanted more? Heck, I wanted more after reading the beginning too. It was a mistake. See what happens when you get greedy, folks? 🤣

A quick summary would be: A+ sex club fantasy, secret relationship, more secret relationship, BETRAYAL (which turns out to be absolutely absurd when you find out what happened and how unbelievable it was), stalking, reconciliation, second chances, HEA?, homophobic dad shows up then is suddenly cool, crazy twist out of nowhere, another crazy thing on top of the first one because why not, actual HEA.

It was exhausting tbh. The book was too long for the content and got crazier as it went along. Not having read the novella, I can confidently say it should have stayed a novella 😅 The story was honestly 2* at best, but I'm rounding up to 3* because the audio was just THAT GOOD. If you don't pick this up in audio, I don't think I would even bother.

This one probably shoulda stayed a novella bc what was the point in the cliffhanger for the story to go in this direction 🫣. Whenever I don't like a Poly book it's usually bc I can tell who the authors fav is and that def happens here. There was also just far too much happening for such a short book that is mostly smut.

Justice for Aiden bc the bait and switch from the novella was certainly a choice.

I'll read Leland's book, though. I'm v interested. Sue me.

I can't wait to say goodbye to July, the book gods have been punishing me 😭

The story should and could have ended after a hundred pages. Everything else was overkill in my opinion.

And I certainly didn't need or want a separate love story for Leland. Give him his own book, there's no need to cram everything into one just to make it longer…

Was it a bad book in general? No, but it was unnecessarily long and unnecessarily dramatic, if you ask me.

Is Leland getting a book? Please tell me Leland is getting a book. I need Leland’s book.

3-3.5⭐️ idk… this was hard to rate.
Romance was severely lacking as was the actual character development - emotions were said, not shown and you were just expected to believe them.

That said I still vibed hard with Kalis writing style overall, and the found family aspect saved this thing from being a 2⭐️ flop. The relationships / friendships were EVERYTHING. Ride or die besties are an instant win for me every time. also, it *did* manage to keep my attention so, that’s a win.

Now, moving on to the nitty gritty. This review might seem jumbled because I’m going to try to give my thoughts without spoilers so bear with me!

This book felt like I was reading COMPLETELY different characters from the novella. That cliff hanger that had us frothing at the mouth nearly feral while waiting for this? The most underwhelming thing ever 🤣 literally resolved like at the flip of a switch before the plot completely pivoted.

The “drama” was all over the place. Instead of focusing one thing and building the angst / anticipation, it was like all possible dramatic things happened but were also resolved SO FAST. And didn’t serve the story at all. It was all just so random.

At 50% I was a little like omg what could possible happen to justify and other 125+ pages? And the answer was, setting up the next book 🤣 Don’t get me wrong, qs you can by my very first statement, I am so here for Leland’s story, but after the lack of development here I am also a little nervous. Leland has depressive episodes & I really hope that aspect is at least developed in his book and not magically cured like all the bumps and drama in One is Never Enough.

All said, if you’re in this for the smut you’ll have a good time. If you’re in this for found family i think you’ll be happy too. If you’re here for romantic development… meh. It’s insta love with resolutions that completely remove the reader from the illusion (IMO!) but still worth a read !!

One is Never Enough is the first book in author Kali Noir's Dark Desires series. You'll definitely want to read the extremely spicy prequel novella Only for Tonight before diving into this one. This is a MMMM polyamorous, kinky romance. It's told from a first person quadruple point of view and has a guaranteed happily ever after.

As always, ensure you review the content and trigger warnings to decide if this book is right for you. Note that this list of warnings may be incomplete. Please take care of yourself while reading.
“No. I’m proud of you,” I say, running my hand down his arm. “You think we’re the strong ones. You’re the strongest of us all.” I’ve always had feelings for Oliver. But this is the moment I fall in love with him.

I've been looking forward to this one since we went on a short and smutty ride with the prequel novella. There's somethings I really think worked in this story, and others that didn't! Let's dive in.

What worked: The possessive, protective vibes that Aiden, Jace, and Toby have for Oliver were unmatched. I loved it! Toby is particularly unhinged, but it's endearing and I'm here for it. I also enjoyed watching Jace come into his own and recognizing the D/s role he could have with Oli. They could both be themselves fully. The sex party scene at Jace's house was probably my favourite in the book! We crossed off so many incredible kinks, and (as there was throughout the book) there was a constant sense of safety, consent, and aftercare which I think is so important after scenes like the ones these guys partake in. What was really special in this book is not only how protective the three were of Oli (and don't worry, he's equally protective of him) but also his best friend Leland. Leland was such an awesome character, I'm looking forward to him getting his own book! When Leland had a particular experience at the party, all four men made sure he was comfortable and taken care of after even if it intruded on their alone time together.

What didn't work: There were just a few items in this book that didn't quite work for me. I really wish the relationship between the original three, Jace, Aiden, and Toby, could've been developed more. We got a little bit of it when Toby was adamant on telling Jace and Aiden how much they meant to him, but the majority of their focus seemed to be on Oli. Polyamorous relationships need to be balanced when written, and I do feel that Aiden kind of got the short end of the stick in this case. The ending was a little bit chaotic for my liking.

I still had a fun time with this book, and the spice was phenomenal! I can't wait to see what's next in the series, as we got a really good glimpse into what's going to happen next. Happy reading!

Oliver has always fantasised about being used by three masked strangers, and thanks to the Dark Desires club, his wish finally comes true. One night is not enough though, and Oliver soon finds himself deeply entangled with with his masked men, one of whom turns out to be not as an anonymous as he thought.

Let’s be real: if you pick up this book, you should be reading for the smut, not the plot. Whilst there is some plot, the main focus of the book is the sexual relationship between Oliver, Jace, Aiden, and Toby. Oliver remains the focus of these scenes throughout the story, but we also get a glimpse of the existing dynamic between the other guys, and all of their POVs are included. This book is fast burn and heavy on the insta-love, so keep that in mind!

The smut in this book was hot AF. It caters to every filthy fantasy you could have: free use, BDSM, orgasm control, DAP, impact play, toys, exhibitionism, praise/degradation… you name it, Kali writes it, and she writes it well. I like how each of the guys fulfils a slightly different role in the relationship, and how sometimes those roles shift with each other too.

I would have liked for the relationship dynamics to be more equal, as I personally felt like Oliver was the centre of attention, and I didn’t see enough of the other guys together. Maybe this was intentional, but it’s just not how I prefer my polyamorous relationships in books.

Overall, this was a great introduction to the Dark Desires series, and I can’t wait to read Lelands book!

One Is Never Enough
By: Kali Noir
❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Do you love a sweet boy who belongs to three amazing men? While they all also belong to him and each other?

If you like reading about sex, buttplugs, stretching holes and being on display you can’t go wrong here.

This is a continuation of Only For Tonight, the novella. Which you need to read before this or you’re going to be lost. This book picks up two months after that one ends.

This book carries over the spice/high heat, while having more dept. We really get to know all these guys better, their jobs and their families.

I love the twist you added to this one Kali and how the guys came together and recovered. The ending was so sweet and heartfelt compared to the overall spiciness of the book. If I could have asked for anything, it would have been a spicy moment after healing.

Kali, I hope you decide to grace us with more of Oliver, Toby, Jace and Aiden. I could read about them forever. Would also love some more of Leland as he opens up. Hope we get Oli’s best friends book with Vince and Zac ❤️‍🔥

No clue how to rate this tbh. Was it melodramatic and ott? Yes. Did I still have a good time? Also yes.
Sometimes you just need a ridiculous wattpad-esque story as a palate cleanser, it's not that deep. 😌👌

**MINI ARC REVIEW TO COME**

Okay first of all WOW!! That was hot! I will say that this book is heavy smut with little plot but that’s okay because Oli and his men are worth every dirty deed.

Please read Only for Tonight the prequel novella prior to reading this one. It definitely is needed to truly enjoy One is Never Enough.

Also…Leland!!! Please say we are getting his story next. Gotta love straight besties who have 2 hotties after them.

It was a good continuity to the novella but I kinda feel sad that the author did not go deeper into it.
First this book does not include the novella, I think the arc reader got it in their arc version but YOU HAVE to read the novella “only for tonight” before that one.
The smut is acceptable. The whole story line interesting.

First the issue with Aiden was solve with a swipe of the back of the hand … I was like 🤷🏻‍♀️ two months waisted over this ? Really ? The sister brushed it so fast I was like “neeeeeext?” 😂 I swear.

Second the Dom/sub that they all have seems just so superficial, Especially when Jace asked to collar Oliver… it sounded so… simple. Like Oliver already knew the terms of the contract and what to be a full time sub means … when he told Toby and Aiden he is gonna explain everything to him.
In addition to that I did not see any difference after Toby told Jace to stop holding back 🤷🏻‍♀️ the whole thing did not make sense at all.

From the novella to this book, it feels more like a MMM between Jace/Toby & Oliver. The all drama with Aiden kinda killed it and it’s in the background :/

The whole thing is well done but I’m disappointed and have a bitter taste with the superficial feeling of the whole story. I wish I could have fallen in love with them but I did not. I was not swoon at all. It was a romance story without much romance.

After 50% we hear about Leland, Zac & Vince a lot, like a lot.

The “vilain” arrived really late in the story, way after 50% and same as any issue it was dealt with a swipe of the hand. I kinda wonder if it was not added to give the book more substance.

Well in any way, I still like this author very much, be it under Kali Noir or Ames Mills (I really loved “For the love of Kane”)
If Leland get his book I really hope that it’s gonna get deeper into romance/feelings & trauma

Oh, boy. This was quite a spicy adventure. Let's be real, we all read this book for the smutty smut, not the plot. There really isn't a heavy plot. We get more insight into Oliver, Aiden, Jace, and Toby from the prequel novella, which is included at the beginning of this book, so you won't be missing out on anything. We get 4 POVs this time, which was interesting to see. The spice is done very well, and Kali Noir does kink incredibly well and non-judgmentally. We get to see all sorts of stuff in those spicy scenes. I liked getting to see more of the dynamics between Aiden, Jace, and Toby, but I would have liked more. With Oliver involved, he is the center of the relationship, which is fun for the occasional spicy scene, but I would have liked more from their poly relationship as a whole. I think there was more to their different dynamics that could have been explored that I would have loved to see. All that to say, I had a lot of fun reading this, and if you're in the mood for some good smut, then this is the book for you.

I'm not sure I could ever get enough of this world. After meeting Oliver 😍, Toby🫠, Jace 🥵 and Aiden 🤬, I had very strong feelings and opinions about each of them. Some of those feelings are still the same after completing their story and others have changed and grown (I promise in all the best ways 😉).

One is Never Enough has Kali Noir bringing back all of her dark and dirty spice that she has introduced us to previously, but enhancing to a whole other level of 🥵 and I am so here for it. Not only are these guys wonderful characters with amazing and different relationship dynamics between them, they bring all the spice you could ever need. The story continues, the drama picks up and we even get glimpses of Zac and Vince trying to steal the show before they even get a book 😂.

These people have no relationship outside of a dom/ sub dynamic and sex. The only kind of domestic sort of scenes we get is around the 80-90% mark. I didn’t feel attached to these characters at all and I got SO BORED during the back to back sex scenes. It was the same stuff over and over again. Also, the relationship between the 4 guys was so unqualified. Aiden was continuously left out. I think there was only 1-2 sex scenes with him and the guys/ or Oliver and the rest of the book he was just… not there. There was next to no talk about his prior relationship with Jace and Toby and how deep his feelings were towards them. Aiden was just there to have a traumatic backstory and be present in a few sex scenes, otherwise he didn’t exist in the book.

H.O.L.Y. balls that was so hot! I am so glad that everyone was able to figure their shit out and be together. The smut was hot as helllll and the plot was great too. The last few chapters had my heart pounding and I absolutely HAD to finish the book to figure out what happened! So so so good and I can’t wait to see what comes next from Kali! I read Only for Tonight not realizing the cliffhanger I would get, so to say this was a highly anticipated book is an understatement.

We meet Oliver (Oli), Toby, and Jace in Only for Tonight and we get to see the beginnings of what could be an amazing romance. Then we meet Aiden, insert some drama and it all comes crashing down around them. Aiden is Oli’s sister’s ex who has now slept with Oli and that is the trigger for The angst. I do wish that would have been used more, maybe not resolved as it was. We hinged a lot on that point of contention and I felt like it didn’t have as much of an impact as it could have.

I love all the boys, they each have their trait that makes them an individual, and they each provide Oli and each other with their needs. The spice and smut is absolutely top tier and in abundance. The list of kinks is long, and Olis celebration scene is absolutely🔥🔥. IYKYK.

I am excited to see if the dynamics between Leland (Olis bestie) and a couple of the guys friends becomes a second book. Because i absolutely want a front row seat to that show.

Overall great story and I loved the boys. There is a lot of drama points and a couple of times I felt it was a lot, but it all manages out in the end. I’m excited to see where this series goes!

"You're ours to use," Aiden growls. "You might own our hearts, but we own your body. Do you understand?"

One is Never Enough is chock full of smut, sweetness, and a teensy bit of plot - though honestly, the spice hits so hard, you don’t notice it!

There's some danger and tough emotional bits, but the relationships are sweet. The way these men fall for Oliver will have you swooning.

This is a VERY fast-burn and ultra-spicy MMMM romance that begins with a sexual fantasy and ends with a HEA. Expect loads of kinks.

If you're looking for a book to make your heart race and panties melt, this one is for you.

One is Never Enough is a complete standalone in the Dark Desires series that completes Oliver's story from Only for Tonight. The entire novella is contained within this book, so you can dive right in.

Corvin King and Declan Winters were amazing in this audiobook! I loved Oliver with his men, and his friendship with Leland were everything to me. I also loved how Jace, Aiden and Toby treated both Oliver and Leland. And the spice were veeery spicy I must say 🥵

However, I must acknowledge that there were literally no plot in here outside from the last few chapters and that's why this can't be higher than a 3 for me.
