This manga is just SO insanely good!!! It was born out of the author's wish to bring youkai mythology into a modern settings, and share its particularities with the world. The art style is so incredibly beautiful, and especially during crucial moments, mimics the traditional Japanese techniques, so that not only are the characters a reminder from the past, and a connection with the past, but also the art itself. Which I think is probably one of my favourite details in all these volumes.

The characters are all incredible, and considering how incredibly huge the number of them is, it's remarkable that all of them are so properly fixed in my mind, and how all of them have their particular traits that keeps them noticeable, and differentiates between them. I found one of my favourite pairings of all time in this story, and I don't think I've been so soft for the connection between people as much as throughout this manga.

The story is very good, the arcs all make sense - and there's no unnecessary filler, and things come back to make sense all over again at later times. It's so smart and refreshing. It's also very educational, and I'm pretty sure Nurarihyon no Mago just somehow amped my love for the Japan I fell in love with more than a decade ago. Or reminded me why I used to love it, anyway.

I'm pretty sure that, have this series not have run at the same time as the big three of the last shounen generation (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece), it could have easily become as popular, or even more so. It's just pure storytelling: captivating and beautiful and emotional and connecting. I hope more and more people will be able to discover this gem, and give it the love that it truly deserves.

A satisfying if brief ending to a long manga series. The main story is only two chapters long and ends on page 134. Following that are several bonus stories. I'm writing this review before I read the end material. I was caught up in the action and read this very quickly as it was a battle from start to finish. There is a reveal which I was very pleased with and I enjoyed the happy ending. Pretty much all characters make an appearance even if briefly. My enjoyment was probably dampened a bit by reading these last three volumes so many years after I'd followed the rest of the series on publication. But still a good satisfying ending and a manga series I will most likely binge read in a few years.

The battle lines have been drawn and the battle for many ayakashi and humanity is finally here as the Nura clan and all of its allies strike against unbelievably strong opponents bent of wiping out those that oppose their ideal world. After the final fight we get almost half of a book to see an assortment of short stories that give us an idea of what happens to many of the characters we have read about throughout the 25 volumes after the Nura clan deals with their greatest challenge ever.

For me seeing Rikuo's newest Equip was probably one of my favorite moments in the book and a real surprise considering the only way that particular skill works is with absolute trust between ayakashi and Rikuo. Want to know who could turn the tides of battle so readily? You'll have to read the book to find out yourself. Also flirty Rikuo is dangerous to women everywhere. Beware. :)

Ultimo volume e devo dire che mi dispiace un po’!
Ho iniziato questa avventura appassionandomi prima all’anime, cercavo disperatamente qualcosa simile a Inuyasha ed ecco che ho trovato Il signore dei mostri!
Piccola perla quasi sconosciuta purtroppo 😔.
Ho apprezzato quasi ogni personaggio anche se ho trovato inutile come pochi Kana Ienaga.
Ho sempre parteggiato per Rikuo e Tsurara ed ecco che a fine dell’ultimo numero si sono quasi baciati, per me è palese che finiranno insieme un giorno o almeno nella mia mente è così!
Inoltre ci sono stati vari paragoni e discorsi nei precedenti volumi che lo hanno fatto capire.
Felice che il personaggio di Rihan sia stato un po’ più trattato rispetto all’anime.
Bella storia!

I just expected... more? Why I feel so bitter about this? It's like the author after Kyoto arc wanted to just wrapped it up somehow and this mess emerged. At least I wanted some epilogue, time skip, anything. Oh well.

To sum it up... I first watched the anime and read the manga. This was an adventurous read. Although I found Rikuo at day annoying AF, his night form is hawt AF! And his story was not the only intriguing one. The Supreme commander of Nura Clan, Nurarihyon, was still alive up to the end of the series. And his tales were not boring and his love affair with Yohime was beautiful in its own way. Then Rikuo's father, Rihan's time came, and his story was also shown. Every leader in the Nura showed and proved his own capabilities and abilities.

This picture really pulled my heartstrings.

The curse was lifted, so Nura can mate with a Yokai and have a family of his own. Actually, it's a practical solution that he mate with a yokai since he is 1/4 yokai and human, to continue his bloodline too.
