This book was mildly entertaining.

The cast: a magic coin (I think this coin connects the different books in this series), a sorcerer (Julian), and a thief (Cricket).

Cricket steals the coin, and Julian follows/stalks him for weeks because he believes he needs the coin to defeat his past abuser. But the coin wants to stay with Cricket. So what does Julian do? He takes off half-cocked with no real plan and gets himself almost killed.

Cricket comes to the rescue, forgives Julian for betraying him (far too easily if you ask me), and the two settle happily in Cricket's village.

The beginning was slow, but the ending felt rushed.

Cricket grew on me, but Julian was hard to like. He was very secretive and broke Cricket's trust in the worst way.

My favorite character was Slinger, the old, half-blind pony. She kicked ass, and I was happy that Cricket and Julian took such good care of her.

This was my first read from this author and I enjoyed it so much!

The characters, Cricket and Jules, were so fun to get to know and the way their relationship developed kept me engaged the whole way through. I loved their journey storyline, it was heavy on plot and sex scenes were actually used to further the plot - such a rarity these days!!!

I would have liked a little more world building to help understand what's going on and why - we're dropped into a country (maybe? not entirely sure) that is rebuilding after a war I assume. Although this is a multi-author series, I don't plan to read every single book so I do feel like some more background would have been nice to have.

Otherwise, this was a really enjoyable story and it introduced me to a new author with a writing style that I really enjoy.

*****

I received an ARC of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review

This one is hard to rate for me. It was hard for me in the beginning. Both Cricket and Julian were acting like asses and it got to my nerves, and both being uncooperative, overly secretive and combative was more off putting than anything else for me. The second half, when they started to act with an actual individual personality instead of a persona of egocentrism and got to actually like each other and we got to know what happened to get them there (sort of, Lee leaves some details, like a whole revolution, pretty vague), it gets pretty good.
The first 40% would have been a two star to me, the last 60% a 4 star, so to be neat it feels fair to set it at 3. It's not bad, but it had enough bad to not be great

Another solid entry

3.5*

I enjoyed this but I did feel like I was possibly missing something about the setting as a whole, so I'm not sure if there were other books in the same world from this author before this one.

(I know there are three others mentioned as published in the end matter though but I believe they come before this in chronological order).

Either way, I didn't get why Jules was so powerful or why he was so important because no-one explained who the Gatekeeper was in this book.

The plot itself worked, I loved Cricket, he's just my sort of good hearted rogue and Julian himself was also an interesting character.

The coin is slightly more involved here, which was nice to see, and I loved how it interfered at just the right moments.

Apart from Jules being an idiot and first trying to steal the coin and then going off on his own, this one was sweet. Cricket paying for the horse was aww. Coin did its job and had a lot of presence. I liked how their relationship slowly changed, up until Jules screwed it. Best bit was the horse taking care of business.

4/5 Cricket and Julian were definitely well matched. It was entertaining to watch them try to outsmart and outmanoeuvre one another until they finally realised that they worked better together. I liked Julian’s willingness to teach and Cricket’s attachment to his village, how they both care more than they seem like they do from the outside. I enjoyed their time travelling together, Slinger the pony, the incubi, and Julian’s ridiculous stories about his fingers (and how that was a bonding experience for the sorcerer and the thief). I thought the two of them were pretty terrible with plans, lol, but it thankfully all came right in the end. They definitely earn their HEA.

I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

The Sorcerer’s Thief is part of the multi-author Fortune Favors the Fae collection, but is fully readable as a standalone. This is a sweet and funny story that moves into some dark moments toward the climax. Lots of dark humor ensues as these two make the other miserable along their journey to the southernmost part of the land, Irondale. I loved how Cricket outsmarts Julian, and then Julian tricks Cricket back. Their initial animosity is twisted into a grudging alliance, and later, mutual respect as the journey to Irondale wears on.

I enjoyed the magical elements of this story, and the people that we met along the journey. It’s clear that there’s a lot of opportunity to build stories from this magical space, though this story felt complete in the end.

Only one

Always a fun adventure in Lee Colgin’s worlds, and Cricket and Julian’s clashes to best one another put a big smile on my face.

“The silhouette he makes, standing with his feet braced shoulder width apart, his back straight as an arrow, shoulders rigid, eyes gleaming with intent. His long black cloak billows behind him, though there’s no breeze tonight.
He’d be hot even without the fireballs of doom.”

Jules and Cricket have more in common than they’d like to admit, and I really enjoyed peeling back their tough shells, complete with silly stories, to find their true hearts. It’s no wonder that they beat for each other, even with the fireballs and all that goes horribly wrong and oh so right for them. I wonder what the coin has in store for us next…

this was another good read in this series. I am unsure if I read this author before, but I am sure I will read more written by Lee Colgin.

this was a nice story about two people who find their strength in different areas than they think they are.
Cricket and Julian were great together ... sometimes really funny, but also sometimes very emotional.

Cricket is a great character as he does not judge people. I loved how he reacted to Julian and how he saw right through his bluster
Julian is a wounded soul and Cricket does wonders for him.

it could have been longer - I would have liked some more time with these two at the end.

in all, a lovely read

A great addition to this already great series. The idea for this series is amazing and each author brings their own spin on the adventures of the coin.

This book is no exception. It is a fun read with two very strong personalities. Jules and Crickets are an enjoyable pair to read about and deserve their HEA.

Another lovely story from the author, though somehow seemed more bromance than romance?

Romantasy, rivals to lovers. Part of a multi-author series featuring a magical coin that seems to be a matchmaker/has a mind of its own.

I’m comparing the author to themself in this review. The story is totally enjoyable! The romance didn’t have the incendiary chemistry I’m used to from Colgin, feeling more like two good friends on a trip together than lovers-meant-to-be, but, the two characters are still a lot of fun and I enjoyed them both. One has something the other wants (hence, rivals for it)—the mysterious magical coin of this multi-author series, which Cricket the thief stole (why he was where he was, we never learn, we’re just kind of plopped into the moment) and Julian the sorcerer desperately needs. So much that he joins Cricket on his journey home, intending all the while to steal the coin to use for his own motives.

Their banter is a lot of fun, and I’m not sure why I wasn’t feeling the attraction. Maybe a character development issue. Both have sad pasts full of loss, and I wasn’t sure what really happened to either of them. Cricket lost his parents and brother to, I think?, the failings of the kingdom’s former rulers (there’s a new queen who is making things equal for all and doing away with a lot of former oppression and crime, and Cricket’s entire family died during the previous reign), and Julian has gone through some kind of horrific torture, resulting in the loss of a few fingers and worse (we learn later). His is a journey for revenge.

I’m not sure what exactly happened to Cricket’s family, or maybe it just didn’t stick with me; we learn that he’s been a thief all his life to help his village, and now is at a loss for what he’ll be able to do for anyone in this new world order. Stealing the coin was a lark because it called to him and it seems to like him, but it’s also calling to Julian, in a sort of matchmaking way, indicating these two need to work together. Julian of course is having none of that, not wanting Cricket involved in his troubles (and they’re quite the troubles, when we learn what he plans). It’s never clear how exactly the coin is supposed to help him though.

My main issue is we never learn enough about Julian—what he was doing with the antagonist in the past in the first place, how did he wind up being tortured, what the full circumstances around his family connections were, and what that meant. What even is the Gatekeeper? I still had no idea what the Gatekeeper did by the end of the book, yet this figure is related to Julian and somehow hugely important to Julian’s story. And Julian’s whole heritage as a…fae? Or, what? Was still nebulous to me. It felt like a lot of that background was missing.

The author does write lovely tender sex scenes, but when we got there, rather than feeling we built up to it, I was more like, oh, really, we’re going th—yep, we’re going there, okay, kinda weird, but…yeah, okay, that was nice. These two could be good together. It just never had that fiery connection that I felt in the author’s other books. Even the finale and the way they overcome the antagonist felt anticlimactic/too easy for all the past pain and what was set up. Didn’t fully satisfy.

I enjoyed a lot, but also felt a lot needed further development. Cheers to Slinger, best secondary character in a while! I’m in this one for the horse. LOL. Slinger was fabulous.

HEA, rivals to lovers, romantasy, magical matchmaking coin. No cheating or any others in the timeline, always great for me. Recommended. This is a fun series.

My thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for the ARC; this is my free and impartial opinion.

Another great book in the Fortune Favors the Fae series, this one by Lee Colgin.

Rating: 4.5🌈

Another great book in the Fortune Favors the Fae series, this one by Lee Colgin.

The Sorcerer’s Thief takes place in Colgin’s Luminia series universe, a series I hadn’t read so wasn’t familiar with. Did I feel I was missing a bit of foundation information about the magical political regime’s history? Yes, as the story could only fill in so much. But this is such a terrific tale that those gaps, while important, lessen in comparison to the main characters and their lives.

Here’s where that fae coin interferes again, when the outstanding character Cricket arrives, stealing into the royal household, to make his last appearance as a thief before heading home. He’s been away too long from his village and wants one last great item to sell.

Colgin lets the reader immediately into what’s special about Cricket, as he introduces him stealing what we all know will be that meddlesome coin. Cricket’s partly fae, just enough to have some sort of magic but looks completely human. In a Fae kingdom that’s only just recently been accepting of other species, that hasn’t been a good thing. His family history is one that’s revealed as the story evolves. It’s how we get to know Cricket, his personality and why he’s a thief with trust issues.

That coin brings him to the immediate attention of another player. A would be thief and sorcerer, Julian, who desperately wants that coin. Julian is a damaged, broken being with hidden secrets but both the coin and Cricket keep directing him towards another path.

Throw in a nearly blind pony, a journey of discovery, magic, and misadventure and danger and you have a fantastic tale of romance and found family.

Julian’s last minute story of his real life parentage didn’t make much sense to me and didn’t add anything to a grand finale so it must have been for the series readers. It felt like an addition.

The Sorcerer’s Thief (Fortune Favors the Fae book 4) by Lee Colgin is another winner in this fabulous collection and another book that I’m recommending.

These covers are just spectacular, some of my favorites in years.

Devil woe. The good thing about it was that it was very funny, had lots of magic and i loved the characters. Read well past half the book, was terribly let down by the shitty sex, and still kept going. Writing is good but i will never try this author again.

i instantly liked Cricket but then when Julian appeared and it was like Toni the Tiger all over again. Smitten by the characters. And it’s enemies to lovers with the fae coin playing match maker so it’s perfect! 😃

There’s so much magic logic behind basic conjuring spells. ♥

🔹Story- 3⭐, Characters- 4⭐, Sex- 0⭐, Epilogue- 5⭐

❧Read by Jamie Treselyan and John Hartley. They did a good job.

❧Their banter is so good. Very witty, snarky but every banter ends with some gentleness. Those jokes around their round bellies after an eating competition was so freaking hilarious! They named the imaginary babies Cricket Jr and Pumpkin. When asking if Cricket can do enough magic, Julian goes:

“That’s not a real answer. Enough to swat a fly? Or enough to levitate your grandma?” BRUV. 💀

❧There’s insta lust but they act on it very slowly. They don’t even kiss till 62% in and have sex right after. Both of them really want the other but are too stubborn for it. The coin’s part is interesting here, connecting both of them and non verbally communicating to Cricket about Jules, and both able to travel to each other.

Now to the bad parts of the books:

Jules betrays Cricket right after their first time sex, and Cricket just… lets it slide?? He even falls asleep with him, basically inviting the 2nd betrayal immediately after. i hated how none of it seemed to matter and Cric still pursues to protect Jules like nothing happened. Noble intentions or not, Cric should’ve at least consider not forgiving so that Jules saying sorry would be worth it. He doesn’t even let him say sorry. But then goes on to say, “earn me.” Wtf lmao.

When he does say sorry, he is instantly forgiven. i get that. But maybe at least just consider. Just saying.

♦65% in, the mood instantly dies due to terrible sex. It has receiver pov + mute mc which i hate. Too much telling and not at all showing any reactions. No mention of a single panting, or noise or any reaction from Cricket. It’s not intimate at all cuz a whole damn person’s presence is missing. Thankfully, all other sex is off page, with only 1 sex act at the end.

♦There is OM drama but it’s part of the main plot.

📙Tropes: fae x sorcerer, thief MC, enemies to lovers, snarky banter, bathe together, bathes the other, manhandling, betrayal my MC, separation, no cheating, 1st person dual pov, HFN.
CW: There’s on page torture of MC by villain. On page murder of villain by MC.

I love the thread of the idea that follows through all of these books by different authors. I read this one without reading the main series by this author that these characters/this world comes from, but it can be read as a standalone. I’d say the one emotion I mostly felt throughout was just “feel good awwww” (hence the gif). Julian and Cricket are wonderful characters and they make a great couple, which—after reading some other books where they didn’t gel as intended—I’ve realized is another plus! Overall, this fantasy world and its plot is meant to be a gentle feel good moment and I felt that as I read it last night!

Would I go back in time and still read this book, knowing what I know now?
Sure!

See below for the four criteria I use to decide whether and when to read a book

CHARACTERS: As mentioned, Julian and Cricket are both lovely characters. I enjoyed reading about both of them and was instantly emotionally connected to them. Cricket and his beautiful heart, his reasons for resorting to thievery, and his fears that he overcomes by the end? Glorious. As for Julian, it’s a true wonder to read how easy going he is especially when he comes face to face with his traumatic past and the purpose for his quest. They each have quirks that made them quite lovable to me. I spent most of the book with a gentle smile on my face.

PLOT: The plot is both quest and mystery: both of them are heading south towards very specific destinations that happen to be in the same place, and the events are augmented by all the mystery surrounding Julian’s past that Cricket attempts to get out of him. It’s an even-paced book: think sailing even keel on a gently rocking boat.

EMOTIONAL INTENSITY: There is no good/bad here. Sometimes I just want a low-investment entertainment read whereas other times a high-stakes 'I need a therapist to recover' is what I need.

1 out of 5/low. A lovely low intensity read after a high intensity that wrecked me recently. Very appreciated!

CATHARTIC FULFILLMENT: Is the emotional journey worth it? Do I finish this book feeling that I've crested the wave of the climactic moment and everything has been settled, leaving me settled and fulfilled?

75%. I do think that the final conflict/final battle was over too quickly and too easily. But this is also something I tend to feel with a majority of books. That being said, it does also make sense for the book itself, considering it’s meant to be a low-intensity read.

The Sorcerer's Thief is a standalone book in the multi-author series Fortune Favors the Fae, set in the same universe as Lee Colgin’s Luminia series. While this book can be enjoyed on its own, I recommend reading the Luminia series first to get the backstory of the world in which this story unfolds.

As always, Lee Colgin delivers a fun adventure filled with magic, action, and snarky banter between two flawed yet perfectly matched characters.

The story follows Cricket and Julian on a journey spanning several weeks from north to south across Luminia. During their travels, Cricket and Julian constantly try to outsmart and outmaneuver each other, while gradually revealing bits of their pasts.
We get to know Cricket's caretaker personality and his reasons for living as a thief. Although more details about his family would have been welcome, the snippets provided did add depth to his character.
Meanwhile, Julian, who initially appears polished and composed, is revealed to be deeply damaged and harbouring secrets from a painful past.
Both characters, despite their different experiences of heartbreak and misery, are ultimately kind-hearted just showing it in a different ways.

Watching Cricket and Julian’s relationship evolve from animosity to grudging attraction, then to friendship, and finally to love was really amusing. Their journey together, including moments of silliness, interactions with various characters, and Slinger the half-blind pony's attitude, added charm to the story. However, I felt the chemistry between Cricket and Julian could have been more pronounced and developed, as their love sometimes felt a bit lukewarm.

While Lee Colgin excels at world-building, this story would have benefited from more background on the events in Luminia. As part of the Luminia series, the author may have assumed prior knowledge, which could disadvantage new readers. Balancing explanations in standalone novels within an established universe is challenging, and this book unfortunately leans towards under-explanation.

Overall, I enjoyed Cricket and Julian’s journey of discovery and misadventures. They are very likeable characters, and their story is a nice combination of romance with some action, humour and found family.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my unbiased review.

I'm going to start this by saying Lee Colgin knows how to create and write a background! The worlds she creates are always so unique and full of so many details and are full of livelihood. There are always so many new places that the MC's visit and each place is described really well with intricate details. Cricket's character was unexpected, the story starts off with us believing that he's just a thief who steals for fun. But that isn't the case, everything is not as it seems, and that sentiment holds true for Julian as well.

I thought this book was well written, it had an engaging plotline, I liked going on a journey with these two characters. All of the places they came across on their travels were full of life, and really helped add to the feeling that they were traveling across different lands. Something that I really enjoyed was how these characters weren't as they seemed, they each had hidden secrets about themselves that slowly got revealed the more you continued to read. I really enjoyed learning more about Cricket and Julian, especially because Julian was so cagey and had a habit of lying.

Now, on to the aspect of the magical coin that brought them together. I found the idea of the coin to be a really intriguing concept, and I thought it was written really well. It wasn't straightforward the coin was its own entity with its own power, thoughts, and feelings. It was interesting getting to 'see' what the coin did next and where it had Cricket and Julian go. The ending was so beautiful and sweet, I'm really glad that both of these men got their happily ever after. They definitely deserve it after all the heartbreak they've experienced. Overall a fabulous story!

Oh! And the paragraph at the end from the coin's perspective was an amazing addition!!

I'm really enjoying the Fortune Favors the Fae multi author series. Lee Colgin's story is a wonderful addition to it.
Once again the matchmaking gold Fae coin, the uniting element in this series, has found an unlikely pair to unite. Julian is a grumpy loner sorcerer needs the coin to settle an old grievance. Unfortunately Cricket has just stolen it from a Luminia royal's suite, and he won't give it up. They become travel companions, while Julian looks for an opportunity to steal the coin from the thief.
It's a great quest/on the road story. Julian is attracted to Cricket, but doesn't want to desire a man he plans to steal from. The story is a nice slow build up to steamy times. The dynamic between the two, in and out of the sheets, has sizzle. There's also a great deal of humor. Instead of being honest about why he wants the coin and what happened to his hands, Julian makes up amusing and improbable stories.
I haven't read any other stories in Colgin's Luminia world. And I had no trouble keeping up with the back story. In fact, there's some spoilers here as this story takes place after the other stories.
Great worldbuilding. Snappy, snarky character interactions. And how can you resist a book where a half blind, elderly pony is a secondary character? Slinger doesn't have much to say, but the eye rolls and snorts make great commentary.
This was a fun, too quickly read book. I'm working my way through the series. This story is a keeper.
I received an advance copy of this book and this is my review.

Part of a multi-author series (Fortune Favors the Fae), but can be read as a standalone. Could be more fun if the reader is familiar with the author’s Luminia series. Paranormal fantasy. Adversaries to lovers. Hurt/comfort. Slow burn. Found family. Dual POV.

Cricket may be a thief but he stole the magical coin fair and square and it's his now, and no good-looking sorcerer is going to take it from him. Julian needs the coin to help him exact revenge, and slowly falling for Cricket while stalking him is not the plan, Cricket is much too good for the likes of Julian. The push and pull between Cricket and Julian was so fun to read, their competitive banter and grudging attraction slowly morphing into friendship and camaraderie.

Cricket was such an amazing character, a caretaker that steals to survive and help others, and Julian has survived a painful past but still has the kindness to mentor Cricket. I enjoyed every moment they spent together and their willingness to sacrifice for one another and forgive each other was swoony. I definitely could have read more with these two, Colgin’s writing is always emotional and sweet, and I loved their HEA. 4.5 rounded up

I’m enjoying this series and how the coin connects the different stories. I loved that this one is set in the author’s Luminia world. Cricket and Julian are very much opposites attract, and I loved the almost role reversal as the story progresses.

I loved how both Cricket and Julian’s pasts are slowly revealed. They’ve both been through a lot, and I liked how they grow closer without realising they’re doing so. I love that Julian’s magic won’t work on Cricket, thanks to the coin, and how his determination to get the coin forces them to get to know each other. Their growing friendship and relationship is sweet, yet not without angst.

Slinger deserves a mention, and is pivotal to the story, especially the closure Julian needs.

The world building is fabulous and detailed. I love the history and politics. The Guild is nasty, especially Julian’s history with them. I’m looking forward to finding out more about the Gatekeeper.

I loved how Cricket is determined to stop Julian from taking revenge, and didn’t see the twist that comes with that decision. Nicely done.

Their HEA is sweet. I love Cricket’s village and its community.

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Cute, sweet and a bit silly, this lighthearted romance between Jules and Cricket was an uncomplicated treat to read. Lee's narrative read breezy and mischievous, while Cricket was all kinds of charming alongside his Jules, who had a bit of a mysterious air to his quality. Which made their push and pull pretty silly (but in the smiley way) because it was all super soft fluff...but with some cool food choices I totally got behind! It was chill, but still, i sorta loved those "cuisine" moments in this! So yeah, this was a quick, low angst read that felt bright, energetically, but without any real tension to this neat and tidy HEA, The Sorcerer's Thief was, for me, one of those safe, sweet, cookie-cutter stories that was lovely in the moment, but won't persist in memory when that moment passes.

But honestly, sometimes you just need that quick no frills fix and if that's the case, this little, unassuming darling would be perfect for that mood!

Cricket is delighted to have stolen an incredible coin, rumored to have magical powers. Unfortunately, there is a sorcerer, Julian, who wants the same coin. When Cricket refuses to relinquish the coin, Julian decides to follow him, a task that is easy when the coin calls to him. It should have been a simple thing for Julian to take the coin from Cricket but some reason, he keeps failing. The coin seems to have a mind of its own and is happy when they are together.

This is an amazing series. Part of Fortune favors the Fae, this is a multi-author series, with the coin the unifying feature. Both Cricket and Julian are the stars of this one. They have both been damaged by their pasts. Trust is hard to come by and both want the coin for their own reasons. It was such a pleasure to read their story as they come to realize what they have is much better than what they had wanted. This book is perfect for those of us who enjoy a smile at the ending.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and this is my very own opinion.

I love Lee Colgin's stories, and this one just might be my favorite. I loved Cricket and his devil-may-care attitude. that hides a truly caring and generous heart. Julian was harder for me to like, at first, but as the story progressed and I got to see the wounded soul beneath, my heart softened, and I really, really wanted to see those who had hurt him pay...dearly. I loved the snark and push-and-pull between the two of them, and the ridiculous stories Julian concocted to explain his missing fingers. And Slinger...I loved her, a beast who truly earned her name. Cricket and Julian both surprised me at the climax. Neither behaved quite like I expected (nor did Slinger. LOL), yet it all felt right. The story has deception, secrets, betrayal, danger, a thief, a sorcerer, and a wily Fae coin with a mind of it's own. There are mentions of torture (in the past/off page), but nothing explicit is shared. I truly enjoyed this story and hope the rest of the stories in this multi-author series are as good.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

This is a minimally to moderately angsty enemies to lovers story. Cricket is a thief who steals from the rich to help his friends back home. On his final heist, he steals a unique gold coin. He is stopped afterward by Julian, a fae sorcerer, who tries to cajole and steal the coin from Cricket. Julian was told a prophecy that the coin would help him find revenge on the ex-lover who used him and chopped off his wings. The coin protects Cricket from Julian. So Julian decides to follow Cricket until he can convince him to give him the coin or steal it. Along the way, the two go from enemies to friends to lovers. Cricket wants to help Julian and also make him see that revenge is not worth it. Cricket ends up saving Julian emotionally and physically. This was a really great story with some funny moments and some that can make you a bit teary eyed.

The sorcerer's Thief takes us on a journey with two men looking to find their place in the world. One no longer feels relevant in a swiftly changing society, and the other has dedicated himself to revenge with no thought to after his mission is accomplished. We accompany them as they get to know one another, catch the feelings, confront the past, and find a new way forward.

This is a stand alone set in Lee Colgin's broader novel-sphere and is also part of a multi-author series regarding a mischief-making coin. I do recommend reading the very short and free prequal to the fortune favors the fae series for context, but you don't have to. It also helps if you've read at least one other Lee Colgin book to understand the basic political situation in this universe, but it's also not critical.

Sweet and surprising… Well worth the read

It seems like all of, let me correct that, many, of the authors whose work I admire, i’ve taken to these meta-series in which each installment is written by a different author. This could be really quite fun, but the one thing I really do NOT like about it is the fact that it exposes me too far too many new authors. Please bear in mind that I have a TBR List (To be read) that is nearly as long as the Los Angeles phonebook once was, for those of you who still remember phonebooks. I do not need more authors. Who work I enjoy! And here I am again, once again, thoroughly enthralled both by the writing and the storytelling. I want to logic complaint. Please write more poorly. I don’t need anymore. However, you’ve got my business, dammit. I’m off to explore the rest of this world.

This is a fun fantasy read. With fae, magic, action, feelings, and some spice. HEA guaranteed.

The coin that Cricket stole is something unique. Like really! I had to laugh so hard at the end. Julian needs that magical coin for his own mission. And is therefore not leaving Cricket alone. They both go on an adventure. It's sweet how they don't really like each other and then fall in love and fight for their love.
I enjoyed Crickets and Julian's banter a lot. The story was good. You'll learn more about the characters and their dark past, about Julian's mission and his interesting background. You just want to continue and see what's coming next! Both are kind of grumpy. Loved that!
Cricket is my favorite!

What a read! Sorcerer's Thief is part of two series, the first is Fortune favors the Fae, all standalones with a magic coin doing its thing throughout each book. But it's also part of the Luminia world, set after the trilogy. Cricket and Julian's story can be read as a standalone within that world. Cricket is our thief, Julian our sorcerer, both coveting the coin for different reasons. Basically it is a road trip with the loyal pony, avoiding some bad guys, and some smexy times. For the comeuppance of the Julian's really bad guys, he sees that it takes the whole team. I love the "why do you want the coin?" answers, particularly the last one, perfection! Great addition to a such great series.
