Yoshiki Nakamura (仲村佳樹) is a Japanese mangaka. She was born June 17. Nakamura made her manga debut with "Yume de Auyori Suteki" in the manga magazine Hana to Yume in 1993.
Fiiiiiinally we're getting more of Ren's backstory. We're starting to learn why he changed his name and.. uh.. pretty much everything else about himself. The whole thing with Cain is just.. well, a little odd, but interesting, so I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. Especially with the whole "sister" angle. It started getting suuuper good right when this volume ended, so thank goodness I have the next book at home and can immediately continue. After the next 3-in-1 book, I will have to start reading them in single volumes! Which just sounds exhausting and not fast enough.
•We finally get to see why Ren is in Japan and his past is Dark. Dude needs some serious therapy.
•Ren is a man of many talents; cooking isn't one of them. Like, I never noticed before how wild his technique really is until recently. I would be horrified if someone cooked like Ren in real life o(≧口≦)o
Ren is having problems dealing with his new character's personality, then add in the fact that Kyoko is trying to help and it may not be helping that much at all. Especially when people keep wanting to mess with her. Ren and Kyoko are getting closer due to this new role, and neither one really knows how to deal with it.
This was another great addition to this awesome series. I loved Kyoko and how she was trying to help Ren. I also loved the fact that she can seem very dense at times, but she's able to figure out this major thing about Ren pretty quickly and does her best to help. I adored that and I look forward to more.
Gonna keep this short and sweet. This omnibus was pretty much chapters I'd already read way back when. Would've been better if I read it before the one that comes after it, but it's not a big deal now that I've gotten over my own inadvertent clownery...
There was a lot to do with Ren's tragic backstory and the buildup of how he's beginning to have to face that again. It's sad to see what a floofy, gentle boi he used to be until he was harassed and assaulted to the point where he had to fight back and it unleashed a whole frickin' sadistic monster out of him. (Why's it also feel like I'm intrinsically drawn to tall af, broody bois w/haunted pasts that go on to reinvent themselves and take on the pseudonym "Ren"...? )
*ahem* Anyways, what else...
Kyoko resisting her feelings for Ren, check. Me being proportionately sadface about it, check. A lot of chapter cover/splashpages of the two of them in beautiful, heartaching romantic embraces that you know Nakamura draws because her slow burn is so slow she's likely burnt herself in the process lol. Could do a little without the shaming Kyoko for not understanding the advances of men when they're directed at her (even if Ren was less abrasive about it that stupid Shotaro will later be, it still rubbed me the wrong way).
Oh and I was reminded Murasame is almost as big of an annoying dumb cunt as Shotaro. Fuuun...like seriously, am I supposed to care when Ren gets all murder-happy when this doofus shows up and intentionally tries to stir up a fight like...?
All in all, a solid three compiled volumes, as usual. *thumbs up*
The series keeps getting better and better! We get to see more about Ren’s past as Kuon. And although Ren and Kyoko are acting as siblings, the romantic tension between the two is of the charts! Looking forward to reading the next one.
2021: I am so glad this came on time! I didn't have to wait to keep rereading. (I had a 6 volume gap.) It is every bit as delicious as the first time I read it. I don't know how I can be 30 volumes deep and still feel like it is just the right amount of depth.
I can’t wait for Kyoko to find out that Ren is Kuon and about his past. I love that they get closer in this volume but I want more! It’s sweet that Kyoko has become so close to Ren that she’s figured out some things like Ren not acting as Cain on her own without Ren telling her anything.

Woah the acting parts are excellent! But there are so many tropey things I really dislike that I couldn't fully enjoy some things. Shame because the humour is on point despite the things I dislike.
4.5 stars We get more Ren's backstory. I'm hyped that Kyoko's heart has been unlocked, but I hope that this arc won't be too long. I heard mamy people didn't enjoyed it and I see potential problems with that arc.

Lots of Ren struggling to deal with his past and Kyoko starting to realize that he’s seriously messed up inside and not 100% in control of himself. Fun to read.
SERIES REVIEW: (Side note - I have read more than what's official by reading translated online scans, as such my view may be a bit biased based on further plot developments.) Skip Beat is possibly the best shoujo I have ever read! While the art style may throw newer readers off as it is very 90's/early 2000's do NOT let it keep you from giving this manga a try! The characters and plot more than make up for any lacking art. Kyoko is my favorite protagonist I have ever read - book or manga. This is not your typical shoujo by any means. It has romance but focuses more on Kyoko's growth as an individual as well as her determination to find herself. The other characters are not left behined either. They are also constantly growing and changing in different ways giving off such a vibrant and realistic vibe (well mostly realistic-if you have read it you know what I mean) If you are looking for romance, comedy, a shoujo with depth this is the one. While at times the slower romance pace is frustrating the pay offs make it worth it. Instead of a cheap fix so many shoujo manga are doing this is a slow burning master piece. I really cannot give this series enough praise and everyone - shoujo fan or not, manga fan or not - needs to give it a try!
Another great Volume. It starts with Kyoto getting bit. I mean by the love bug and she is mad. She is suppressing it for know but who knows how long that is going to last. Ren is diving deep into his Cain/BJ roll. However it is bringing up a part of Ren that he would rather push down. Will he make it back? I cannot wait to find out what happens next.
