Evie how dare you end the book like that!! I AM SOBBING... Evie whyyyy... the ending...my heart is aching

After being left on the edge by the White Horse Black Nights cliffhanger, I couldn't wait for this sequel, and it did not disappoint; it was everything I could have asked for in a second book! In fact, it surpassed its predecessor in grandeur. The way I DEVOURED this, I desperately need more! 

Silver Wings Golden Games is a captivating romantic fantasy, brimming with action and adorned with exquisite prose.  This second book will bring you to tears as you read all the tantalizing twists. This series is so fresh and unique, I've never read anything like it. By far one of my favourites.

The story was rich with beautiful descriptions, creating a vivid and atmospheric world. 

Sabine Darrow deals with the fallout of her huntsmen’s betrayal, and the possibilities of fate with her betrothed. Following her journey is an absolute delight. Once again, Sabine finds herself confined, but this time, she's determined to liberate herself. She's poised to regain and secure her hard-earned autonomy. Her remarkable abilities are displayed in breathtaking fashion, revealing not only their magnificence but also their peril. Small spoiler, but when she set that Lion off on the Valvere's with her Godkissed, I had goosebumps!! She is so powerful and so awe-inspiring, I love her character. Beyond exploring her Godkiss, we witness how her compassion and commitment to aiding others propel her onward. She exemplifies selflessness and serves as a true inspiration.

Basten "Wolf" Bowborn, gahh I LOVE this man. His unwavering loyalty and dedication to Sabine's well-being are unparalleled. Yet, what truly resonated with me was his delicate friendship and brotherhood with Rian. Each revelation about their intertwined past tugged at my heartstrings. I found myself unexpectedly hoping for reconciliation, longing for them to mend their bond and reunite on the same side once more... but things take a turn, and we find out some pretty jaw-dropping details about their past.

“Now that I finally have you,” he murmurs, “I’m never letting you go. If I lost you, the seven kingdoms would burn to ash in the wake of my fury. You’re my reason for living. My beginning, my middle, and my damn end.”

The forbidden romance between Sabine and Basten was even better in this book, their naughty escapades turn into a beautiful romance. The chemistry/dynamic between them was exceptional, and more intense than ever. I loved every minute of their romance.

I loved the world-building and all the new backstory details of Sabine and Wolf. The lengths Sabine goes to, to make sure Wolf, survives the Everlast. The hero's blend of grumpiness, gentlemanly demeanor, and wild spirit truly immerses you in the story from the get-go, making it impossible to put down.

The ending was absolutely heartbreaking, I still can't get over it!!

For all of you saying how you love Sabine's sweet bond with the animals she can communicate with, HOLD ONTO YOUR DUST JACKETS. She makes friends with much bigger, deadlier creatures than mice in this installment. (Though let's be real, the mouse rocks.)

I also hear your "I don't know how to feel about Rian yet" and raise you a "expect a whole wild rollercoaster of that once you get to know him."

My obsession with Sabine is beyond any limit. She is truly the force I wanted her to become and I can't wait to watch her burn even brighter after that fuel burst of a cliffhanger.

The twists were so good - I could have easily read another 300 pages.

Basten is the ultimate fictional men, he is the love child of a golden retriever and a wild tiger. And it's way better than it sounds.

But on the other hand I fell for Rian too. He's beautiful in his paradox feelings and the desperation not to drop his mask. Basten and Sabine are the only two people in his life he ever loved and that has to mean something?

(I hope there is a chance for the 3 of them to be together. I am not the only one who get the vibes, aren't I?
Just imagine Basten AND Rian worshiping Sabine - what a glorious hot mess until both men finally accept their feelings for another too and it would be even hotter, wouldn't it?)

The world building is so good and the story takes up much space so the romance and spice are not always the center - how I like my romantasy best.

World building is genius and all these animals are literally perfection - I see spiders with new eyes.

This series continues to be like crack. Messy as hell forbidden relationship. Body guard trope extended from the first book but with extra steps. I loved the story and how much it built off of the first book!

I read this in one day while traveling for a work trip and it did exactly what I needed it to do. Let me escape into a world.

The only reason this is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because it ends (literally the last like 5 pages) with a trope I just CANNOT STAND. 99.9% of a book being phenomenal can still end up a 4 star read for me personally if this trope is included.

It’s a spoiler so I can’t say it here and most people don’t mind it. It’s a me thing. Read for yourself and enjoy!

Some thoughts, in no particular order:

- I like Sabine and think she has all the markings of a Goddess origin story.

- I wish Wolf would just fuck off or, you know, at least be a little more stoic. He is fucking melodramatic for a hunter/woodsman. I'm so fed up of hearing about his heart/loins stirring and his undying love.

- I actually prefer Rian and think he'd be a much more interesting character to follow.

- The plot twist was at least semi obvious. Why else would there be magical DNA tests?

- I wonder whether Sabine would still think she was in love if she'd had sex with anyone else. If you've never had an orgasm before, you're bound to be fond of the person who gave you some.

- The world building - one of my favourite parts of fantasy - is severely lacking.

- No sex is worth going to the gallows. Nothing will convince me otherwise.

4.25⭐️I’m sorry…what the actual fuck?! Idk what Evie puts in these books, but they’re so addicting. Hard to put down. I get sucked in and eat up every crumb. Same minor complaints as before (some modern dialogue/slang etc.) How am I supposed to wait for book 3?! This was just as good as book one. Find out more secrets, but still get more questions! The world keeps getting bigger and way more interesting. Thanks Evie for the e-arc!!

I love Basten and Sabine so much and they DESERVE A HAPPY ENDING, OKAY?

There was so much more political intrigue in this one, I had a really good time with it. Though I did feel slightly bad for Rian in this one… Call me nuts but I cannot help it, lol.

I can’t wait for book 3! I did the audio of this too and Basten’s voice actor is phenomenal!

- Oh my god the love triangle is everything. It’s so well done I can’t deal with it.
- The absolute best “fuck it” moment of any book I’ve ever read.
- I was so stressed in the best way this entire book. I couldn’t predict anything. So much action. What a blast.
- Myst is everything.
- Great spice.

- The ending includes a trope I’m not usually fond of but I actually think it’s done well here.

Sabine might be my favorite fmc of all time. I absolutely am obsessed with how Evie Marceau has written her and her ability to speak with animals. All the animal sidekicks have unique personalities and Myst is my spirit animal. The ending had me absolutely reeling. I can’t wait to see what happens next and I’m eagerly awaiting the next book!

Mkay I’m going to give this a 2 ⭐️ review.

I didn’t love it. The plot was good. Spice was great.

But the characters landed like a wet fart. No lie. The MMC mostly, he’s a bore and grates on my nerves. The only redeeming part about the FMC is her love for animals and the friends she makes in this book.

The characters interacted VERY LITTLE other than the spice (which was great, btw). Wolf’s internal monologues got old fast. Nothing new was discovered about his character, and all he did was pine after his woman, complain, and get jealous.

Also, the scene where he sneaks into her room and watches her sleep, and considers dropping his pants and jerking it? WTF?! I didn’t like how he talked to her in the first book, and after I saw that line was like yeah no I hate him. The rest of the book is just his mushy whining over Sabine. He COMPLETELY loses the brooding mysterious dark male persona in this book. Not a fan.

The ONLY reason I’m going to be continuing this story is for Rian. He is the ONLY character that had any depth in this book, and I want him to have a happy ending. Long live King Rian.

This is the second book in the Godkissed Bride series by Evie Marceau. Book two picks up right where book one left off, in a somewhat cliffhanger state, but more so the story is in upheaval. Now at the kingdom and court of her betrothed, a man who made her ride stark naked through towns and villages to him, Sabine is forced to find ways to fight and survive against a cruel family. When she begins to learn the prince's true reasons to wed her, the story and plot begins to thicken. Without giving away too much, Sabine is forced to decide to play nice and honor her arranged marriage, or follow her heart with the guard who protected her through her ride to the kingdom. But does the guard still want her? Or was it all for show?

First I want to say, I was OBSESSED with White Horse Dark Nights. I loved the budding romance, I loved the enemies faced and the way the plot began to open. I thought it was all very well done and it had me on the edge of my seat. It was everything you'd want in a forbidden romance.

Book two had so much potential, and I think some of it was hit! But I also think there were major questions from book one that I had that weren't answered. I also felt like, with the ending on book one and that plot twist, I expected a little bit more of a redemption from the MMC. It felt rushed. I also didn't quite understand the magic mike theatre moment we had when Sabine was out with "the girls"?? I'm not sure how or where it added to the story line except maybe budding friendships? I expected more about Sabine's real father, and how that kingdom would come into play. The book had SOOO much going on, so many different things that were happening, and then the ending felt really rushed and the plot twist seemed more for wow factor than where the story was naturally leading to. I'm not really sure where the story will go from the cliffhanger... I was constantly trying to keep up and figure out what the heck was going on.

All of that being said, the individual parts were good! It still has quite a bit of potential for me, it just seemed "cramped" with shock factor moments. I am curious to see how it plays out with her betrothed a little more, what role he will inevitably end up playing? What will happen with Basten now?

Overall, will I read book three? YES. Did this one hit the nail on the head for me? No, but it was still entertaining and am still happy to have read it!

This is still an interesting story and I read it pretty quickly but surprisingly I didn’t love it as much as book 1. Most of the reviews are better on this book so this just could be a me problem completely.

I think my biggest issue with this is the relationship between Basten and Rian. They’re supposed to be like “brothers” to each other but Basten really doesn’t even try to respect any boundary. And to be totally honest for the first 20% of the book I was not feeling Basten at all. I thought there was spice was too early on and talk about some emotional damage to Sabine for what he made her say?! 🫢

The pacing is fast so once I was invested and thinking this was still 4 star, the cliff hanger at the end is one of my least favorite things…so idk. I think I will finish the series but need to take a small break from this world to be able to enjoy the next book.

2nd book and this one had so many twists, Sabine is heartbroken over Basten’s betrayal, Basten has to see Rian all over Sabine, and they still love each other! Without spoiling of course so much happened and knowing there was a third book I knew a heart break was coming…. sure enough! But loved and will be going into next!

Silver Wings Golden Games - ARC book - 4.3⭐️

I don’t know what Evie puts in these books but they are addicting. I cannot stop when I start one. I am so so thankful to have received an ARC of Silver Wings Golden Games and I finished this book in about a day and a half.

This is the second book in the godkissed bride series, book three comes out in October and you all need to add this series to your TBR. Book 1 white horse black nights is an enemies to lovers and book 2 is a forbidden romance!

Without giving a ton of spoilers since this is the second book in a series if you love forbidden romance, sneaking around, sappy love confessions, and a very unique magic system this series is for you. Very quick and fun reads also very easy to understand.

The plot twist had me jaw dropped, but holy crap the cliffhanger was absolutely out of left field. I have genuinely never read a book with this trope that Evie sets book 3 up for and I am SO excited for it. Definitely going to be a painful read.

HOW DO I WAIT FOR BOOK THREE? That was a RIDE. Once again the pacing is absolute perfection - this story, the world, the characters grew in this second installment and did not disappoint. This book is oozing, dripping, and overflowing with such beautiful romance it will astound you.

The romance in this book is filled with reverence and devotion.

When I tell you this is one of the most romantic books I have ever read… it repeatedly took my breath away.

This book is a touch darker than the first, and I absolutely love that this is a fantasy romance with a dark streak. It makes the story more layered and complex.

Even though this book is heavy on the romance… I can’t even explain to you how intricate this world is. The fae waking up, the war that’s coming, the ever expanding details that come together. The world building in this book is absolutely incredible. Each book, the stakes are higher the world is larger, and you realize just how intense this situation is becoming.

This book is anger, hurt, jealousy, worship, desire, and tension. It’s licentious, scandalous, and oh so fae…

This book is so spicy you will need ice water on standby… to drink… to bathe in… just have a lot of ice water near because… the spice is scorching.

I can’t recommend this series enough. I’m salivating for book 3. I need it.

This book blew my mind! I loved the first book of this series but this one was even better. The author did an amazing job with making this story addicting and I easily devoured it in one sitting. This is a forbidden love/body guard story done right. I love wolf, he is such a strong character and he loves with his whole heart. There were so many shocking surprises that i was on the edge of my seat the whole time. There is political intrigue, forbidden love, grumpy/sunshine, touch her and die vibes, and a really unique magic system! Also, the alter scene was everything! I loved getting to learn more about Sabine and Wolf and can’t wait for the next book to come out.

I fell in love with Evie Marceau's work when I read book 1 in The Godkissed Bride series, White Horse Black Nights. You can imagine my excitement when I saw I was chosen to be an ARC reader for Silver Wings Golden Games. Did it disappoint? Of course not! It was just as good, if not better, and left me wanting for more. Book 3 cannot come soon enough!

Silver Wings Golden Games continues the story of Sabine and Wolf, following the events of book 1. The sequel is intriguing, enthralling, it keeps you on your toes waiting to see what happens next. And the spice is executed perfectly - there is a chapter (won't spoil which one) that will be living rent free in my head for months to come.

Evie knows her characters and makes us connect with them - Sabine grows into her power and finds more of her inner voice, and I love how her character develops; Wolf is still your perfect morally grey character, but with more layers now. Side characters are great, too, and this is maybe why Silver Wings Golden Games is even better than book 1, the story is broader, more complex.

We are left with a huge cliffhanger, and now we hold our breaths until book 3 :)

A Swoony and Steamy masterpiece.
I could not put this down. Like with book 1 this drew me in from the start and the writing is so melodic and immersive. Sabine and Basten are everything! The romance is captivating, it's such a rollercoaster with their forbidden love and the implications of being discovered. There's the ever present danger lurking in the background of the prophecies, the mad King and deadly secrets that builds the suspense too. Loved the character arcs in this, the use of Sabines powers, and her courage, determination and passion. So much happens in those final chapters and that Cliffhanger is brutal. Book 3 can't come soon enough!
