The Henchmen Chronicles #5

The King's Enemies: The Henchmen Chronicles, Book 5

Rate this book
In the final inning, Abraham must shut the enemy out or die.

The invasion begins with an enemy the likes the people of Titanuus have never imagined. Armed with modern weaponry, diabolical forces muster at the Kingsland border wall, while savage barbarian forces called the Gond secretly lay siege upon the House of Steel.

With the Crown of Stones incomplete and the king slipping into madness, more treachery bears fruit as former alliances are broken and old enemies rise again.

Outgunned and overmatched, Abraham Jenkins must use his wits and sword to bring the enemy down before the curtain closes and he is trapped dead or alive in Titanuus forever.

Don’t miss the gripping final conclusion of the Henchmen Chronicles! Perfect for fans of the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, King's of the Wyld , the Magic Kingdom of Landover, and the Black Company.

Solid end to a solid series.

I wasn't expecting much considering I got this entire series [on kindle] at a huge discount, but after reading the first book I was pleasantly surprised. There were moments where I felt like the dialog was a little campy, or cheesy, but that just added to the charm. All the pop culture reference at the right time made for some legitimate laughs.

I would recommend this to someone who likes portal fantasy, or otherwise wants to have a good time. The books being as short as they are makes them nice palette cleansers in-between broodier, more long winded chonkers.

What I liked most was the author's note at the end wherein he confirms this is within a larger universe he has constructed. I already knew the character John Smoke in the last two books was from his other urban fantasy series [due to amazon recommendations], but the last line in the book ties this series to one of Halloran's other Epic Fantasy series.

Suffice it to say that I'm a fan of Halloran's books, and have bought some Omnibus collections of his to delve further into this world.

Bish, Boon and Black Bane Too!

I had my doubts when I started the Henchman Chronicles but soon got enthralled with the tale halfway through book one! Craig Halloran you have out done yourself. This series of 5 books was the most entertain and nail hitting series I have ever read! You are a true Master of Sci-Fi fantasy! The incorporation of Sid and Smoke was incredible and believing! Well done. 5 stars!

Craig Halloran does know how to spin a tale! From the first book of The Henchmen Chronicles to the last In the series, there was unstoppable action and adventure. I enjoyed every bit of the series, reading all of them exclusively until the tale was done. The characters were great, the storyline was fascinating and it just made you crave more. Thanks for a great set of books!

So Many...

I loved this series for all the pop culture references slipped in along the great adventure aspects of the story. I can't wait to see how other books tie in to the Halloran universes.
