Rate this book
These characters were too dynamic to leave lingering on the shallow surface.

Delve deeper into Denny and Neeka's world, and you'll either be begging to leave or won't want to. Too Devout is the anticipated mega-conclusion to the renowned Devout series. Listeners were left unsure but hopeful that they would be reacquainted with the two star-crossed lovers.

Denaché Denny "D Rock" Graham, the ever-complex crime lord with his layers of mystery beneath his grime and his weakness for the simpler semi of the pair—the beguiling Neeka Perry.

Neeka was left in waiting, and it was not in vain. Denny is back, but back to what? Or better, in fact, back as what?

Busy hearts will go still in this last installment of a novel that was supposed to be left at a kiss in the wind.

With the tenacity of the characters and their determination to beat the odds tilting the scale at every obstacle… You, as the witness, will be the one to Should it have been? Is love a game that you play to win and, by all means, to prove it true?

Or, are there signs we overlook that caution us when we are going against the course of nature?

Is there ever a danger of being…Too Devout?

This book shined a light on loving someone with mental health issues. Love and actions are more extreme when you love someone that has an everyday battle with a mental disease. Neeka and Denny did this back and for thing for over 18 hours on my audiobook. At times I did get annoyed with Neeka but I had to remember that she was only 24 years old and Denny was almost 10 years older. I did appreciate the character development. She grew a spine eventually, but it did take awhile. She cried through this entire book! I didn’t appreciate Denny just checking himself into a mental hospital without sitting down and having that conversation with her. That one action caused a chain action of events to follow that would break the both of them. I personally didn’t care for Monie or Ty. Ty is Denny’s right hand and Monie is his woman that he continuously cheats on. Monie doesn’t seem as if she is a true friend to Neeka. I feel like they are just acquainted merely due to their men being best friends. Little Milania was privy to a lot of arguing between her parents as well. I liked that Denny took initiative in his life to get better though. There are many black men that don’t believe in getting treatment for their mental health thus leaving it untreated ultimately creating unhealthy relationships. Denny and Neeka’s relationship was very toxic. The back and forth after awhile got tiring. I can say that Neeka is a rider and she rode for her man until the very end. I had tears in my eyes and the end of this one, just like I did at the end of the first one. Good Job, Takerra!

All I can say is…this was one of the least typical, yet most beautiful love stories that I’ve read in a LONG time!!!!

Listen-the way I cried for Denny and Neeka is just embarrassing!!!!

Love stories are often written so “beautifully” and the “ugly parts” are sometimes conveniently left out, however, T.A. ingeniously takes us through the ups and downs of Denny and Neeka’s turbulent, and passionate (yet delicate) journey to their least expected happy ending!!

A MUST READ!!! This book was a legit movie in my head!!

Takerra NEVER disappoints!!!
