Colorado Bulldogs #3

Bad Pucking Roommate: Colorado Bulldogs, Book 3

Rate this book
Superstition [soo·per·stish·uhn] noun. A belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation. An irrational abject attitude of mind toward the supernatural, nature, or God. A notion maintained despite evidence to the contrary.

Athletes are notoriously superstitious. Some don't wash their gear. Others sleep with it. I've even heard of a guy who peed on the field to ward off evil spirits. But as far as I'm aware, my teammate Luca is the only guy whose ritual requires a more intimate activity.

I wouldn't know that if I hadn't stumbled into it by accident, and even then, I wouldn't have thought my presence had any effect. But the next day he got on the ice and had one of the most spectacular games I've seen him play. One of his best ever. And it gives me an idea.

At first, Luca objects. He's embarrassed by the things he has to do to play well and doesn't want to involve me in his sordid activities. But when he realizes there's no other option he relents, and we become roommates to make things…convenient.

It was supposed to be a means to an end, a way to prolong his career. Things don't go according to plan.

Now, I'm harboring two secrets, both of which could hurt Luca and the team, and there's no telling how deep the consequences will run if they come out. But one thing is certain—as the veteran player, he's the one they'll accuse of being a bad pucking roommate.

Fans of Loving the Legend will enjoy this double bi-awakening, MM romance about two teammates with chemistry that extends beyond the ice, an unconventional roommate agreement, and a not-safe-for-work pair of dice. Bad Pucking Roommate is a romance featuring hockey players, not a hockey book featuring a romance. It's book three in the Colorado Bulldogs series, and while it can be listened to as a standalone, the series is best enjoyed in order.

I have a quibble with this book. The author gives me the feeling that being gay is not a good thing. We have 3 guys across the series who strongly resist being called gay and appear to openly dislike it, 2 refer to themselves as fluid sexuality and the other is just ‘not gay’ in his words, with his friends speculating he is ‘demi or pan’. Which is bloody great for those groups getting representation and I’m not usually a stickler for labels but something about this story rubbed me the wrong way every time the 3 characters vehemently denied being bisexual or gay. In this one both MC are basically ‘gay for you’ but they aren’t happy with that and want to be known as fluid sexuality. Which is fine but also, what’s wrong with being gay? Or bi? What makes matters worse is the character who does identify as gay is Tripp, who is painfully sexually inappropriate at all times, every single sentence he speaks is about dicks or sex and he comes across as an obnoxious, campy airhead. Why is he labelled gay and proud of it and why are all the cool broody manly men refusing to be called that? This really bugged me.

Another thing was their second on page time having penetrative sex they dont do any preparation, it’s on the rough side and this guy was previously a virgin. I’m no expert but I feel like this author maybe needs a real gay man to do a sensitivity read and offer some feedback.

There is some nice parts to this story and connection between the MC’s, it’s not terrible but there is also repetitive scenes and lot of wordiness that I got bored with. Overall I don’t think this author is for me.

Justus is 22/23. He was raised on a farm. He's just had his first rookie year in the NHL. He's a good guy.

Luca is 30ish. He's been in the NHL for about 10 years. He's been really successful. He has an unconventional ritual before games. He needs to get off with an audience. It started at the end of high school with a friend and teammate who had a cuckolding and exhibitionism kink, who invited him to be their third. He played his best game after hooking up with the girlfriend in front of his teammate. Luca has had an arrangement with Charlie and Jessie since then to continue his pregame ritual for all home games with them. But on away games he's had to make do with hookups with people on ndas and he used to get off in front of Noah. But now Noah's in a relationship. And Charlie and Jessie have ended the arrangement because they are trying to get pregnant. So now Luca is trying to figure something out.

Justus is in the wrong or the right place at the wrong or the right time! And he ends up becoming Luca's new audience. And it evolves and he becomes a participant. Sometimes Luca fucks a woman in front of Justus, sometimes both of them get off with the woman, sometimes it's just the two of them. After many weeks, they start touching each other and only each other, no women around. It's not the most romantic premise, lol. There's a lot of sex with other people before they go exclusive. Once they do go exclusive though they are pretty good together.

My thoughts:
- I didn't feel comfortable with how Justus got pulled into participating in the sex. It was under negotiated I.e. not talked about at all beforehand. And that applies to when Staci started touching him and also when Staci forced Justus and Luca to touch. It just didn't sit right with me.
- I felt like Justus never wanted the women that he had threesomes with Luca with. He was only participating because Luca needed it. And I don't think that's a good reason for anyone to have sex. I would have felt more comfortable if Justus was attracted to the women and having a good time.
- For a decent portion of the book, they were having sex with the women. I don't recall exactly when they had their last time with another person but at earliest it was at the 30% mark and at latest it was probably around the 39% mark. So it was a good portion of the book, it wasn't just like a one and done.
- It's crazy how Luca's superstition / ritual/kink messed up his whole sexual life up until he was with Justus. Luca could never have a normal relationship with a woman because he was constantly looking to have sex with whoever he could have sex with basically every 3 days when they were in season. He could never be faithful if he was going to date anyone, so we never tried dating anyone. His sex life was largely very traumatic for him, he wasn't a carefree player doing this for fun.
- I loved the friend group. The appearances by Tripp and Xander where especially funny. They're interactions always brought the LOLs
- I really liked that from about 65% on Luca and Justus had a really good relationship arc. They were falling for each other and they were clear when they communicated that they had something special and at the other person was important to them. It was sweet how they got heart eyes every time they looked at each other and their whole friend group thought they were incredibly obvious about their feelings.
- I liked that they decided not to out their relationship and kiss at the Stanley Cup when. It was really mature of them to put their teammates first and decide that they didn't want to steal the spotlight, they wanted their team to get to enjoy the moment.
- I loved that Justus was frugal, even though he was on his way to getting super rich. I actually love when a character is frugal, especially when they have money. I hate when people waste money frivolously and unrealistically. It makes them seem stupid and like they don't respect the value of money and it is insulting to people who are poor.
- I hated the non fraternization policy and what happened when Luca and Justus revealed their relationship. Luca got done dirty and it was like letting homophobia win, and I hated it
- I loved the extended epilogue we got to see. I loved seeing how long their NHL careers lasted, marriages and babies, the continuation of their found family.

Random giggle... Was the author intending it to be a joke that Justus had the name Justus? Because it was definitely not "just us" (Luca and Justus) for the first 35% ish. LOL. And then after that it was "just us", and it was the first time Luca had a relationship that was "just us".

Some notable moments:

"“Jesus,” Xander mutters. “Can’t you go one night without talking about Noah’s dick?” “I can, but I don’t know why I would. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me and that’s the sort of shit you’re supposed to shout from the rooftops.” Xander sighs and shakes his head at me. “I honestly thought having a boyfriend would make him less obnoxious.”"

"“While I think I speak for everyone when I say we’re happy for you,” Xander takes control. “Do you know what this means?” “Ooh. Orgy.” Tripp claps. “No one can touch my man of course—boyfriend rules—but you can watch and vice versa. Where’s the bedroom?” Xander rolls his eyes."

I loved that the coach instantly knew that them showing up together meant they were a couple. It was a great throwback to Xander and Niko coming out to coach! "Coach takes one look at us—not even registering the fact that we’re holding hands—and immediately starts to turn pink. “Fuck,” he mutters as he spins away and walks inside, though at least he left the door open. Tugging Justus behind me, I follow Coach to his family room, where he’s standing at a wet bar in the corner with a glass of amber liquid in his hand. He slams it back, pours another, and tosses that back as well before lifting his gaze to the ceiling. “Again? What did I do to deserve this?”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

I didn’t love this (though I couldn’t pinpoint why exactly), but I liked the couple together and enjoyed seeing the previous couples from the series.

I wasn’t very taken by the concept that is the premise for this book at first but OMG! I’m surprised at how the author made this play out even better than *Bad Pucking influence.
I had thought Tripp and Noah were going to be my fave but this two? There love is palpable and despite the concept, not once did I think Luca was taking advantage of Justus or Justus’s adoration to him.
Extra points for the story having low angst and the real effect it had in their careers
This is a good way to end this series and I will definitely read more MM from this author in the future.

Meh

This book was unfortunately not my cup of tea. I loved the first book in the series. Then the second book was entertaining but I had less of a connection to the main MCs. And this book for me was nearly a dud.

I didn’t enjoy the premise, I couldn’t get emotionally connected to the characters at all and I felt like both of them were barely developed. Honestly the only reason the book even got a second star is because I enjoyed seeing how the characters were doing from the other two books. Lenard is right that this is a romance book with hockey, not a hockey romance, but if you’re going to write a romance book that is not able to fall back on the sports aspect of the romance, you have to make the romance able to stand on its own. And this unfortunately did not.

I wanted to like this more but had to skim most of the beginning as I hated the way Luca got into his superstition. Personal preference, but I wish it had been any other way but that. Overall, because of the start, I had difficulties seeing their connection and how they fit together. Nice epilogue though.

'This man saved me. Not just professionally but personally... When I was at my lowest, he picked me up, never judging me for my irrational needs. When I had trouble seeing myself under the uniform that’s become my identity, he’s the one who helped me realize I was there all along.'

Can I just start by saying you NEED to read this book. You're going to fall head over heels in love with Luca and Justus, just like I have.

I was so intrigued by Luca and his unusual superstition when I read the previous book in this series, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard Michele Lenard was releasing Bad Pucking Roommate!

Here, we have hockey stars and Colorado Bulldogs teammates Luca and Justus. Luca is the veteran superstar forward, and Justus is a second year player who idolises Luca and had his posters on his wall as a child.

You can imagine the concern from teammates - the series' other MCs, Niko and Noah - when they learn that Luca is desperate for someone to help with his game superstition. He swears he won't ask Justus - and he doesn't. But when Justus accidentally ends up involved and finds out what's happening, he offers his help...

You see, Luca unwittingly got the worst superstition possible when he had a threesome the night before the best game of his life, and now he needs a man to watch him have sex with a woman.

So Luca and Justus begin hooking up 'for the game'.

Although neither of them claim to have any attraction towards men, Luca has needed his superstition fulfilled with a man present - though it now works with Justus alone, ahem 😉

And so Justus becomes Luca's superstition-helper, with the sexual interaction now including touching between them, and when a woman isn't able to be there, it leads to a hot-as-hell encounter. Seriously, they are fire together, and we had the most deliciously sexy scene... I couldn't wait for more between them.

But truth be told, as their encounters increased and they developed feelings both were afraid to admit because of the team's new fraternization policy, I became most excited for that first kiss, I just couldn’t wait!

I absolutely loved how the relationship developed between these two. They work so well together, supporting each other no matter what, whether it's through injury, family matters or sharing underwear 🤣😍 Luca and Justus just fit each other, they are, and always were, meant to be 🥰

Luca; this man, he just stole my heart with how he loved and cared for Justus. He's totally swoon-worthy. I found myself a little mad at the original couple behind Luca's superstition, although he loved them dearly, so I'll have to move past it... but all Luca really needed was for someone to see him and love him for who he is... Justus fills that role perfectly.

I had such fun reading about Justus shopping for the perfect birthday presents for his man, and I swear, I literally dropped my kindle laughing so hard at the cow with the boner 🤣🤣🤣 I'm still laughing now!!

It was amazing to see Niko, Xander, Noah, and especially Tripp again. Those guys are hilarious and so supportive in their own way. Tripp is so funny, I love him 🥰

Michele Lenard wrapped this series up so beautifully. The extended epilogue was just amazing🥰 I'm definitely going to miss these guys. But Bad Pucking Roommate is the perfect ending to a fabulous series. Don't miss it!

'When I thought the end of my career was rushing forward to greet me, he stepped in to stop the ticking clock, and in the process, he gave me a glimpse of life after hockey. A life with him.'

This is a cute and quirky romance of a hockey couple that was definitely meant to be. I enjoy Ms. Leonard’s hockey stories, and the writing is solid.

Luca, like any decent hockey player, has superstitions that he feels actually affect his playing. If he misses his unconventional and eyebrow-raising routine, it messes with his head. Luca at first put me off, however, he absolutely grew on me, and I found him to be sweet and insightful. Justus is one of the young members of the Bulldogs. He idolizes veteran Luca, and the two find a magnetic force as they play together so well. Justus has a dear innocence about him, and Luca is drawn to this man. Justus agrees to help Luca with his somewhat questionable ways to prepare for the games. Soon the men find themselves wanting to spend more time with each other.

The dynamics between the two MCs felt genuine. There was very little angst, but being in a sport where management wants players to keep in line makes this budding friendship more challenging.

I love how much Luca evolved in this story. Justus remained a decent guy with certain life goals he was working towards.

This book was an enjoyable read and I highly recommend it. Happy reading.

I think this is my favourite book out of the trilogy. I absolutely loved Luca and Justus’s story. The way their relationship grew from teammates to boyfriends was such a journey.

I love the way Michele creates her characters, they always feel real and genuine to me. I enjoyed seeing the other guys from the two previous books supporting Luca and Justus.

I highly recommend reading this book and the previous two as well. They all have feel good moments with banter and spice.

Each book in this series went a little downhill for me. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit and maybe it was a good fit for my current reading mood. Book book two was not quite as great, and now in book three I’ve had to stop reading at around a quarter in.
My problem with this book is that I’m finding that I just don’t like Luca’s character. I didn’t dislike him previously, but now that we’re delving more into his story I find him not too likable for me. I’ll admit I was curious to find out more about his pre-game ritual which led me to opening up this third story. But, he was coming across as too selfish and I’m going to move along to something else.

What an amazing end to the series

These two were perfect together, when I see this one was about Luca I had to read after his unusual suspicion that had him performing in front of Noah until he met Tripp. Justus was perfect for him and the passion between them was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
The scene where they become more then voyeur and performer was so well written and steamy.

Really recommend this book. I really enjoy that it was low angst too.

It gets better as their relationship deepens and Luca becomes infinitely more bearable, but - hot dayum - I was not into the dynamic between these two guys for the majority of the book. Also, if being watched were Luca's actual kink, that would have made some kind of difference to my enjoyment and interest, but he's all 'meh, meh, I'm only doing this otherwise I won't win my games' and 'meh, meh, I don't want to drag this young, innocent guy into my BS, especially considering the power-imbalance between us and the hero-worship he's got going on for me ... but I will anyway'. I also don't like the way Luca interacts with women at all - even the way Justus refers to them at times, so maybe the author is simply a misogynist - the women come off as whores and he comes off like such a douchebag user, especially in the beginning - and I can't wrap my head around his whole thing with Charlie and Jessie. In the beginning, it feels like he's manipulated into the dynamic, and then he goes and perpetuates it onto someone else. I don't like that at all. Something about the whole vibe feels borderline abusive, in a way. An abuse of power, maybe that's what it is, but Charlie and Jessie come off as predators that successfully created another predator.

And let me add, as in my update, that I READ A LOT OF BULLSHIT. A lot, guys. But this particular book somehow managed to squick me out more than worse things I've read. Maybe because those other books are straight-up about the fact that what they're putting forward is potentially wrong in some way (e.g. incest), or that informed consent is required, etc? Meanwhile, this one is tamer, but seems to drink its own kool-aid, if I can put it that way.

.......................................................................

"Isn't that why you were going to keep him in the dark?" Noah asks. "Because he can't say no to you?"

I shake my head with a disdainful huff. "You make it sound like I preyed on the guy."

"Maybe not intentionally, but you did put him in an impossible situation by telling him what you needed when you knew he was in a position to offer it."

.......................................................................

I just hate the impersonal aspect of a woman leaving right after sex, even though there's no other reason for her to stay.

.......................................................................

Women are just fucktoys, amirite? God forbid you spend some time with them, have a drink, get to know them, etc, so you aren't just a fucking user.

I've got a lot of quotes that I saved in my aggravation, but ain't nobody got time to type all this shit out. Here's one more for the road - Staci's the girl they're in the middle of banging, but you'll be forgiven if you also mistake her for a blowup doll:

.......................................................................

And intense. So intense, I almost forget about Staci. Again.

.......................................................................

Wait, wait, I can do one more :) And maybe another ...

.......................................................................

"One in my mouth, one in my pussy." Her eyes gleam as she strips down and crawls on the bed, not even bothering to tell us who should go where. She just wants to get fucked, which is one of the things that's made her such a reliable companion over the years.

.......................................................................

So, yeah. I'm an asshole, but if that results in a cup at the end of the season, I can live with it. Besides, Justus isn't complaining.

Okay, given the whole fanboy thing it's unlikely he'd deny me anything I ask for. But if he wanted to stop this, I would.

Final Rating: 4 / 5

After feeling rather indifferent about Book 1 and then DNF-ing book 2 - my expectations were not very high going into this one. So, I was rather surprised that I ended up enjoying it as much as I did. But I am going to contribute that largely to just really liking Luca and Justus as characters.

The plot is really straightforward and not particularly groundbreaking if you familiar with Hockey Romances. But basically, after getting involved sexually with a couple while in college, Luca develops a superstition that he needs to be "watched" by a third party before a game in order to win. It is something that was briefly mentioned in Book 1 and then in Book 2 we found out Noah took part for a while to help Luca. But now with Noah withdrawing (because he's in a relationship) and the couple he's historically been involved with saying they don't want to do it anymore - Luca is shit out of luck and panicking. Enter Justus. Our starry eyes rookie who basically idolizes Luca and is now Luca's road trip roommate. You can probably infer where it goes from there.

Though to be honest the plot unravels at a pretty good pace and the buildup to Justus and Luca getting intimate is realistic, it doesn't drag on too long and by the time it happens it's obvious that it's not just about winning games anymore. And oh boy once they are together their chemistry is good! The one props I have to give to this whole series is that there is not a miscommunication trope in sight! The constant communication and openness is just so refreshing. Seeing Luca and Justus lean on each other throughout their relationship just warmed my heart.

All in all, if there is any book worth reading in this series it's this one! Such a good send off, I will miss these two.

ARC COPY BOOK REVIEW**

"We just hold still, existing together yet separately. Feeling whole and yet, incomplete. And somehow, despite not touching each other intimately, I can’t help feeling this is the most intimate moment I’ve had with another person. The most beautiful experience I’ve shared with another soul. And I don’t want it to end."

I am gonna do this review short and sweet..because this is definitely a love story you want to experience on your own...as @mlenardbooks says at the beginning of this amazing book..it is definitely not a hockey romance but a beautiful love story about two hockey players that were always freaking destined to find their way to each other...no matter what roads they traveled on to reach the moment they met..they were always inevitable...and looking back every single thing and every single moment came back to Justus's grandpa..him giving the gift of love of hockey to Justus..the words of wisdom he bestowed on Justus..to make him wise beyond his years..where he shared those words with not only Luca but to his teammates..his grandpa introducing him to the Bulldogs and more specifically Luca years earlier...

What starts out as a proposal of Justus just being a spector leads to freaking hot chemistry that is pure and unadulterated fire that literally seeps off the page at you..the touch him you die vibes...and my God...the love story...it is soooo freaking beautiful..to see Luca change before our eyes is phenomenal..that it has you there falling in love right along with them...

Thank you so much @mlenardbooks for the opportunity to read Luca and Justus's story..I truly enjoyed each and every minute of it...gah...the ending was just PURE PERFECTION!!🥹😭

I leave you with the great words of Tripp..my fictional spirit animal....."I’m just as pro sex as I always was. I’m happy to swap stories, share tips, anything to help my friends bust a nut. Especially baby gays, who are just starting to explore the wonderful world of dicks."

*Bad Pucking Rommate is book 3 in the Colorado Bulldogs series and is an interconnected standlone. While not necessary, I recommend reading books 1 and 2 (Bad Pucking Timing and Bad Pucking Influence) if you want to understand previous characters as book 3 picks up around the same timeframe the other books ended*

Luca, team captain and veteran of the Colorado Bulldogs, has a very odd superstition pregame ritual. When his decade long arrangement falls through, he's worried about his game and the end of his contact. Rookie Justus stumbles upon Luca's pregame ritual on accident but after seeing how Luca plays and understanding his superstition, Justus agrees to help against Luca's objections. What was supposed to be a means to an end turns into more, putting their careers in jeopardy.

I've been looking to read more MM in 2024 so when I saw this ARC was MM and hockey, I instantly signed up! Once approved for the ARC, I read books 1 and 2 prior to this and finished them in less than 24 hours each. These were my first Michelle Lenard books and I loved them! The way the guys on the team have such a found family support system is always one of my favorite things in hockey romances. Aside from that, Michelle spreads light on things like families being supportive/ unsupportive, workplace acceptance, being open & proud or hiding/taking time to process, and education on the different labels of sexuality. Justus melted my heart and seeing Justus & Luca flourish throughout the book from idol to teammates to close friends to a couple was so sweet. I also loved how the epilogue wrapped up all 3 books for all 3 of the couples.

This is a fun story because the plot is a bit different so I was very curious. Part kink and part superstition, Luca’s pre-game ritual is a must. He has friends who know all about it and are happy to help until they’re not and he’s suddenly desperate. He needs to find a new way to keep his luck but isn’t getting anywhere and his performance on the ice is dismal. Everything comes together when a friend drops by at just the right time to be pulled into the evening’s activities but Luca isn’t sure this is a sustainable solution. After all, he’s not even sure Justus was a willing participant in the first place.

To be fair, Justus wasn’t sure either but he knows he liked what he saw and isn’t opposed to exploring more. The friends and teammates find something in one another they both need, but just as they’re starting to feel out the new relationship between them, the team sets a ‘no fraternization’ rule that could spell disaster for everyone and end their careers. It’s a risky game, but they can’t stop.

I can’t say much else without being a spoiler but I like the way the relationship developed between them and the support they had from friends and teammates. I really liked these characters and their story. This is my first book by the author, but certainly won’t be the last.

Like many hockey players, Luca has a superstition and routine he must do before every game. But his isn’t exactly normal or an easy one to do. He needs a specific type of hook up and well like I said it’s not an easy one to accomplish. Leaving him stressed and worried when games are starting and he is starting to play bad. He isn’t un-self-aware. He knows this is in his head but no matter what he does, he can’t seem to shake it. That is until his teammate, Justus, accidentally finds himself stumbling across Luca by accident. And when he offers to help him overcome the issue then actually help him fulfill it, well things begin to change. Justus has always admired Luca. Their connection on the ice is insane and a good part of that comes from Justus watching Luca play over the years. But this new thing between them isn’t because he idols Luca. He actually genuinely cares for him and his feelings only get stronger the more time they spend together. Neither expected to learn this side of themselves having always thought they identified a certain way. But their connection becomes so much deeper when they take the time to truly get to know one another. These two were absolutely adorable. Justus who constantly blushes and Luca who realizes that he is capable of having a real relationship with someone. Though things do get complicated when management for their team makes a new rule, upsetting many. But it will take a lot to tear these two from one another. Another fun book in this series! I think this was my favorite. These were such fun characters and it was nice to see a lot of the previous books’ characters.

Great read! Very well done!

I really enjoyed this story! I loved watching Luca and Justus as they found each other throughout the story. Neither had really been interested in men prior to the attraction they ended up finding with each other as they got closer. Justus and Luca have always got along and had a chemistry on the ice together. Justus grew up with Luca as his favorite player and who he tried to emulate in his play. It translated to them working extremely well on the ice together. Fast forward to their 2nd year playing together and when Noah goes out with his injury, Justus starts noticing when Luca is off and since he can't leave it alone and inquires about it, it ends up with him learning, and participating, in Luca's pregame ritual by accident the first time but opens the door for the conversation. That continues and as things progress it becomes more about the two of them and their connection, which just continues to build and grow as they explore. They don't really talk about exactly what is developing and they have a hiccup with being able to due to the team no fraternization policy that gets instituted but they don't let it stop them either. I enjoyed the gradual build between these two and they self reflectiveness as well. It really enhanced the story for me since it fit the characters, what was going on, and made it believable. It was all about the connection they had which I really enjoyed! This was a great read!

3.5 - liked it

This book follows Luca, star player on a NHL hockey team. He, like so many other players, has rituals he does before games to ensure his success; if he doesn't do them, he fails. Every time.

Except unlike his teammates and fellow hockey players, Luca's ritual is both one he's embarrassed of and desperate to maintain. While he's had a system to take care of his ritual for years, suddenly it falls apart. He needs other people to help him, and he doesn't have anyone.

Until accidentally, one of his teammates, Justus, happens upon the ritual taking place, and while it's weird initially, it works for Luca. Justus is a much younger player and idolizes Luca, so he's down to help him, even to his own detriment.

But they both end up taking part in Luca's ritual again and again, and get to know each other...intimately. The ritual itself evolves until it doesn't look like it used to. Now, all Luca needs is Justus. But is he hurting Justus with all of this?

I wanted a double gay awakening, manly sports romance, and this book is all of that. It's a curious premise for a book, but well executed and entertaining to read. Overall would recommend if you like some of the tropes in the first sentence of this paragraph.

🎧Can't believe I ended up giving this 4⭐ because I was this close to dnf.

CW for those of you, like myself, that don't appreciate MF & MFM scenes graphically popping up in your MM books. Luka & Justus both have on page sex with a female - more than once.

Yes, this is a me problem but I was uncomfortable with Luka's superstition. I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yum but I honestly prefer less "other people action" when I'm expecting a love story between two peeps. Sometimes it works within the story & sometimes I get icked out about it...this was an ick. And I guess I remembered his quirk incorrectly because I thought he just needed someone to watch him jerk off...not watch him engage in full sex but I was wrong.

Anyway, once the female got outta there I loved these two together. They truly lifted each other up, appreciated each other, and developed a beautiful bond. I'm sure it was exciting as hell for Justus to be romantic with his teen idol.

Michele Lenard writes friendships & found family extremely well and I loved seeing the rest of the guys in this book. The extended epilogue was super sweet as well.

Michele Lenard gets a hat trick with book three in the Colorado Bulldogs series, BAD PUCKING ROOMMATE. Colorado Bulldogs captain and star forward, Luca Daniels, has an unconventional superstition that involves other people before his games. When the people who would normally help him out are no longer available, he must come up with another solution. Enter his teammate Justus, who happened to be at the right place at the right time.

I love Luca and Justus. Luca was Justus’ childhood idol. The person he emulated his game from. He looked up to him. Luca was a veteran nearing the end of his career; while Justus’ career was just starting. The two have amazing chemistry on and off the ice. They become roommates on the road. They bond and get to know each other throughout the season.

BAD PUCKING ROOMMATE is a heartfelt read. It is skillfully written and entertaining. The characters grow and face some interesting scenarios. It is an excellent addition to the Colorado Bulldogs series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved Niko and Xander- they were witty and the banter was SPOT ON! Then I fell in love with the gentle giant, Noah, and his bratty trip. BUT THEN, along came sweet shy Justus and his idol, Luca.

I am obsessed with these two. While I love the other two books for their own reasons- this book TAKES ME. Luca had this need for an “Audience” 😉 and thinks he can’t play without it. Justus is the kinda guy you want to be around because he just makes you better.

So when Luca is in a tight spot, it’s Justus to the rescue. Kinda. Sorta. 😂 - they fall into this kinship that morphs to a genuine friendship that morphs into an all consuming love. They GET one another. They truly SEE one another. This is the ultimate love story. It’s the unsuspecting love that we all wish would, quite literally, fall into our lives.

Uhh. Just go read it. I promise you’ll love it. I will forever be shouting from the roof tops about Justus and Luca.

story of Luca and Justus

This is a teammates to lovers hockey romance, featuring Luca and Justus, and is the third book in the Colorado Bulldogs series. Pretty sure this might be the final book but you never know.

Luca is the seasoned player of the Bulldogs and Justus grew up idolising Luca and finally gets to play with him on the same team. Hockey players are a superstitious bunch and Luca has a very particular ritual he has had for over a decade that gets interrupted when Noah gets hurt and then finds his one true love in book two. Insert that panic for Luca.

Justin finds out about the ritual and volunteers as tribute for the sake of the team to be his voyeur. Bless. As you can imagine, things progress into something psychical and we are here for it.

This is a light read of first times, spice galore and to hockey hotties falling in love. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series and pretty much devoured it within three days. I’ve read all of Michele Lenard’s MM books now, she has a beautiful writing style.

DNFed it may come back and try to finish it… may not. I found her books 2 days ago and binged two series back to back blindly (no reviews) but this broke my streak for sure. I couldnt put my finger on it but I get it now, it reads like coercion to me which sucks cause I am a sucker for exhibitionist story. The fact that Justus basically worshipped the ground Luca walked on I wish Luca cherished that a bit more and not letting the “oopsie he was just here at the right time thing fly.”

If Luca was a 40year old professor and Justus was an obsessed college student placed in this story we would feel weird about it. Kinda like grooming but not really idk grey area for me. I usually love a Grey area book im just usually forwarned. This is the same Author that gave a warning for an absentee father in Cam and Jagger book.

Anyhoo will try again because the characters are amazing! Maybe the joining coulda been less icky for me personally.

Dont get me wrong still am about to seek out another of her books because the show must go on! Love this author so far!

I absolutely loved Luca and Justus. Their relationship and how it progressed was perfect for them. They have been my favorite couple so far in this series.

After reading the last book I wanted to know so much more about Luca and his superstition and did this book explore that.

What started out as helping a teammate turned in to so much more for the both of them. I loved how both of them were portrayed and both vulnerable even after expressing their feelings.

Great addition to the series!!!!

Luca has some crazy superstition ritual he needs to follow before any hockey game might have to come to an end, he starts to panic thinking his career is basically over. Then his teammate Justus stumbles into helping him not even knowing what was happening. I love how the relationship between Luca and Justus builds over time these two have a connection from day one, they are connected on and off the rink and become closer every day. Luca feels that Justus really sees him the real him not the pro hockey player not the rich guy the real him. Once they both start catching feelings things really start to heat up. These characters have so much growth and development your heart just melts for them as the story goes on. you will enjoy every minute of this book from start to finish. While they overcome obstacles trying to find their way through their journey. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

Bad Pucking Roommates is book three in this interconnected series but can be read alone.

I could not put this book down, was hooked right from the very start.
It was awesome reading Luca & Justus story.
This book has everything you could possibly want.
🏒Teammates, Superstitions, grief, a lot of steam, first times, coming out, lol moments, and so much more.

To say I was fully invested was an understatement! One minute I was laughing uncontrollably the next was hot and heavy and then so so sweet. These are officially 2 of my favourite characters. Just loved them.
The chemistry is this book is off the charts and although they try to deny it at first there really is no escaping it.

I could genuinely read this book all over again, I enjoyed it that much.

All the feels, visual is on point, can definitely get lost in their world.

Bad Pucking Roommate ( Colorado Bulldogs Book 3 )
After reading Bad Pucking Time and then Bad Pucking Influence ( I thought to myself there is absolutely no way this series can possibly get any better !!!! Well I was wrong so so wrong . Hooked that’s what I was from the very first page of Luca and Justus’s story . Devouring every single word and trust me when I say I could not put it down . So many different emotions I went through everything from being speechless, to yelling in frustration, to anticipating what would happen from one moment to the next , to smiling, laughing, sobbing like a baby and rooting so so hard . I’m such a sucker for a great M/M romance with all the feels and Bad Pucking Roommate is easily one of the best I’ve read in a very long time . Michelle Lenard nailed and , exceeded all my expectations once again and completely blew me away .
