Even when touched by fate, their future is uncertain.
The world of searchers and settlers goes unchanged, but Emry, Sebastian, and Theo's lives will never be the same. Emry is the first settler to be touched by the bond, but even when destiny has its own plans, she won't leave her husband, Sebastian. Theo doesn't want her to.
It's not long before their new family is put to the test, and the places they think are safe and people they begin to trust betray them.
After Emry is abducted by an old enemy, the men work together for the woman they both love, making a connection even the bond couldn't create.
There's happiness for the three of them with a future they didn't expect but can't deny. But they need to find her first.
Liz Hambleton writes imperfectly beautiful romance. Her heroines are always strong-willed, and her heroes, resilient. Her characters live in alternate worlds and futuristic times, and putting yourself in their stories lets you escape reality while still feeling the power of true love.
If she’s not reading, she’s writing, and her deep adoration for the written word shines in everything she creates. Liz is married with two children, two large dogs, and a fish that refuses to die.
Twin Flame, the Fate & Fame duet, destroyed me in the best possible way.
This plot, this story is so incredibly unique. I have never read anything like this and it is one of my favorite reads of this year. I am deeply touched by this series, there are so many messages within these novels.
“Life is meant to be lived and love is meant to be had.”
The main characters were flawlessly written, despite their flaws. Emry, Sebastian and Theo will be in my thoughts for a long time as well as so many messages of love. The relationship in this duet is one of the most beautifully written, one of the best I’ve ever read. The journey they experienced together was breathtaking.
The last chapter had me ugly crying, I couldn’t see the words on the pages. This is one of those series, one of those books that will stay with you for a long time after reading. Liz Hambleton is an amazing writer, pulling atypical emotions from a person like me and, has immediately moved to my auto-buy list. I will read her entire backlist and anything she publishes in the future.
I cannot say enough about this duet.
I received an advance reader copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.
Alright. Questions from book one were answered for the most part! WOW WOW HOLY DING DANG. what the three main characters do is show hope that you can be happy with or without your fated mate. But THESE THREE?! Something else. Then Seb and Theo’s project🥹 Emotional rollercoaster warning but SO worth it!!
I have received this ARC for an honest review, all thoughts/opinions above are my own.
I enjoyed the first book of this duet quite a bit as we went through the journey of testing and adapting to Emry and Theo's bond. Unfortunately, the second dragged somewhat once the main conflict ended. There were still interesting moments, but it's never a good sign when I keep checking to see how many pages are left.
A potential MM angle was teased between Sebastian and Theo but it was never explored on-page, even in the epilogue. If anything did happen between them, we aren't privy to it. To me it felt unnecessary to even bring up the idea, as the relationship between the two worked well with more a brotherly/best-friends vibe.
I have to say the ending was beautiful (though bittersweet). I guess I would categorise it as a non-traditional HEA. .
I don’t know when I became such a sap for this kind of romance, but good grief. This story tugs at your heartstrings. There were a lot of important plot points to hit in book 2 and they were all covered.
It jumped right into saving Emry, then dealing with her mother, then navigating a 3 person bond (and bromance), to building the Crusade, to taking on kids, and eventually settles so far in the future to honor a life of love and death. I got a little bit of a lot of things. My only complaint is that I wanted more. So much happened in Twin Flame that I feel like I missed out on how Theo and Sebastian really grew into their bond and how their bond evolved with Emry.
All in all, it was a well written duet that I really enjoyed even though that ending made me want to cry. The author honored the characters well and told a wonderful story about love.
"He'll burn down the world to find her. I'll fan the flames."
Twin Flame is the second novel in the Sci-Fi Urban Fantasy Romance duology, Fate and Flame. Following the cliffhanger of book 1, the two men who have torn apart Emry's heart must now work together to decide if they will allow love or biology to win.
The way this book took the promise the first book offered and absolutely nailed it in this conclusion. It had me excitedly devouring this book from start to finish in a single read. The foundation laid by book one with regards to character and world help smooth the story to be moving and heartstring pulling sweet that I could not get enough.
Emry, Sebastian, and Theo are in an unique position as they grapple to find a place in this world that accepts them. I felt Sebastian was the glue and I adored him for this. Theo's consistent reassurance and support to help Emry gain acceptance of herself had me smiling because he was being such a good guy. Emry is the luckiest woman in the world to have two men dedicated to make it work.
There is spice in this book. I would give it a 4 spicy peppers, not because there is more spice than book 1 but because the nature of the spice. It is a bit more slow burn because of the events of the cliffhanger but when we do see spice we see multiple partner scenes which I think really cemented the connection and love between the characters.
"My lifetime, however short it may be, with you, is more than I could ever have dreamed of...And when I'm gone, I'll know there's someone who loves you as much as I did, who's looking out for you when I can't..."
In terms of the story and world, I felt it was traditional with a balance of twists, betrayal, but then it explored a more nuanced situation of what possibilities existed after happily ever after and I thought this was so key to these characters' journey. We got to meet new characters as a result and get some more lore around fated mates that rounded up some questions but also gave the character's chance to consider their lives and make a choice. The story is traditional in trajectory but there was comfort in that after the angst of book one and it held my engagement and kept me focused reading in one sitting. The ending has this beautifully sweet ending that I felt fit this book incredibly well. Ultimately this is a story of love and choice and I felt that throughout.
If you want an unique take on fated mates in a science fiction world this book is one I highly recommend. It is definitely a top read for sci-fi for me now!
I had high hopes going into this book after the first one. I really enjoyed the unique plot and was excited to see where it went. Unfortunately, it became very focused on the romance. The romance plot was satisfying! I enjoyed the relationship between the three characters, but the fated/bonded mates was full of possibilities that were mostly forgotten.
I really just wanted more from this book.
This book also contains open door spice, which does fit into the more romanced focused storyline.
SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER ALERT
I am finding that I'm not a big fan of couples being separated, especially in this circumstance. The FMC is kidnapped at the end of the first book. The male characters then spend 25-30% of the second book trying to find her. I was not thrilled that it took so much of the book. I understand that it's the catalyst that helps bring the two men together, but it went on for too long. The book then spends so much time on the romance. The brief meeting with another bonded couple is one of the best parts of the book, even if it just teases other possibilities about the bondeds. Of course, Sebastian can magically hear their thoughts as well. It continues to wrap everything up perfectly for all of the characters, everything always goes their way (except one expected death). The end.

✨I received an arc copy of this book in place of an honest review✨
Just finished this book and I’m sobbing. Spoilers ahead. I cannot say it loud enough: Sebastian is the perfect man. The way the book honored him in the end was beautiful. I have to say I was a bit skeptical when it seemed like the story was going to end with babies as it’s my least favorite trope, but there was a unique twist that glossed over the boring parts of that trope to have a beautiful and tragic ending. Will be thinking about this story for a long time to come.
#2 of the series. A genre I don’t normally read. Science fiction. Urban Fantasy & romance. This one left me in a bit of tears at the end. It is spicy at times & I guess some might feel some of it is taboo. However it’s a magical book. Supernatural & magical abilities of humans. Love. Hope. Discovery. Death. Sadness. Perspective. Grief & a whole lot of LOVE. Kind of makes you think out side the box. I am sad this book is over.
The end of this book will make you cry harder than you thought possible. I wasn’t ready for it to end.. the ending wasn’t rushed.. I loved how this was a continuation of the first book as well.
Stopped at 67%. It’s nowhere near as good as the first book. It feels like it was rushed and written by a kid. I just couldn’t finish. Very disappointed.
*I received this as an ARC and this is my honest review*
Again, I DEVOURED this book! Have tissues at the ready when reading Twin Flame.
The bond has been established, but so has Emry's loyalty to her husband, Sebastian. What happens when 2 men love the same woman? What happens when that woman loves both men? Here is where we find out. Liz did an amazing job with the complexity of the relationship between Emry, Sebastian, and Theo.
The bond is 2 people who complete each other in ways one can only imagine. Well, Emry, Sebastian, and Theo show you it can encompass 3. That changes everything and not just for them. It opens a whole new set of possibilities for this world. Emry, Sebastian, and Theo become such an amazing and inspiring family. Yes, family.
In Twisted Fate, you learned about Theo's health and family situation, Emry's traumatic childhood, and Sebastian's role in her life from the man who saved her to the man she fell in love with. You can understand why she remained so loyal to him. However, Theo can't help but burrow into both Emry and Sebastian's hearts. These 3 are amazing together and by choosing each other, they inadvertently change the way the world looks at both settlers and seekers.
10 outta 10 recommend!
I'm trying not to give anything away because it's so much better to read it yourself.
**Spoiler Alert** Emry and Theo's bond extends to Sebastian in quite a few ways, but not in the way I had hoped for. This is where the tissues are needed. It was heartbreaking, but I'd have made the same choice.
✨ARC Review✨ “He’ll burn down the world to find her. I’ll fan the flames.”
Book two picks right where we left off and that major cliffhanger. I cried so hard at the end of this book!😭😭😭 With a beautiful but sad ending. I had to get myself together and wait a while to go back to edit my notes for this review because this series captured my heart in so many ways. I was speechless!
“After this week, I might love the guy.” Sebastian and Theo are searching for Emry because the world will never be the same without her and Theo’s life depends on it.
These two get to build a friendship while on their mission. The bonding is truly beautiful to watch.
Emry’s past catches back up to her and it feels like it will never leave her alone. Being back where she was once treated horribly. She must stay strong until they come to rescue her.
In this book, we get to learn more about Jack and his view on life. With Moria by his side and helping to save Emry as well. This group of people truly became a founded family.
Things are changing. Can a settler couple and a bonded work together to change the view on relationships? Can they work together and share?
“She is ours. She belongs to us.” The love between the three of them was beautiful to watch but the ending of the book I did not see coming! It truly crushed me and broke my heart.
Make sure you grab both books. You won’t be disappointed!
Thank you Liz Hamleton for allowing me to be a part of your ARC team! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts.
4.5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟 A beautifully written book with no overused tropes
I really liked this book—it echoes my love for Priestess, which is one of the best books I’ve read. Twin Flame made me feel good while reading, and I truly appreciated how the author avoided the usual tropes. Emry didn’t just find her bond and cheat on her husband with her new bonded mate; she pushed through to be loyal, and her journey was handled with care and depth. The writing was excellent, the pacing was good, and the ending was a perfect way to wrap up the duet.
Thoughts: I read this book immediately after the cliffhanger of Twisted Fate, and in many ways, I found it even better than the first book.
Plot:
The relationships in this book are handled in such a classy way—there’s no forced drama, no cliché cheating, and the connection between Theo and Sebastian is written in a way that feels natural and unexpected.
Loved:
Older FMC. Emry is 29, The MMCs are in their 30s. The concept of mate-bonding is explored in a scientific setting rather than Fae or magic which was an interesting take on a familiar trope.
Spice: 2/5 🌶️🌶️
Overall thoughts: This book was written in a classy way with no overused tropes, and I really enjoyed how it handled mate-bonding in a scientific world. The duet wrapped up beautifully, a I really recommend!
Maybe 4.5 ⭐️ I liked this book even more than the first one!
~ Even though the first like 25% of the book took place while Emry was kidnapped and being tested and tortured, I liked that we still had both her and Theo’s POV’s and they were still able to communicate telepathically, at least until that damn helmet.
~ I LOVE the relationship between the three of them. I was so scared Sebastian was going to get left out somehow but I’m very happy that didn’t happen. Although I was annoyed when Emry kept insisting he consider that stupid hormone treatment to stop loving her.
~ It was perfect that they all got married and Theo was tattooed with their Crowe last name! It’s sweet that the guys became such close best friends/ brothers. But I was a little disappointed that they didn’t experiment with an attraction to each other (don’t judge me, I like MM storylines)
~ Super cute that Jack and Moira and Alison and Lucas ended up as settlers and that our main relationship paved a new way of thinking about love and the bond.
~ Such a cool way to wrap up the story with the guys saving all the kids from Genome and them adopting and raising their family!
~ I totally cried when Sebastian died at the end, but I’m so glad he had a longer and happy life with Emry and Theo. It’s awesome that they all could communicate through their minds and that the extension of the bond prolonged his life.

Twin Flame is book 2 in the Fate & Flame Duet. If you have not read Book 1 - Twisted Fate, I do not recommend reading this review.
. . . .
Twisted Fate ends with Emry being kidnapped. Twin Flame begins with Theo and Sebastian desperately trying to track down where Emry is. Because of Theo's and Emery's bond, they are able to communicate telepathically. In addition to this, when they are near each other, they have this great pull. With these things together, Theo and Sebastian are hopeful they will be able to track down Emry.
Due to Emry's past, she is not ok, but is doing her best to fight what is happening to her while being kidnapped. Will Theo and Sebastian be able to save Emry?
During their time trying to hunt down Emry's captors, Theo and Sebastian begin a bond of their own. The two also come to the conclusion that they work better as a team and they really balance each other out. Theo is Emry's bonded mate and Sebastian her chosen husband - the love between them all is immense and it doesn't make sense for anyone to separate. However, will Emry be down with this conclusion the two have drawn?
Liz Hambleton has created such a unique world. I love dystopian romances and sprinkle in a little fantasy.. chefs kiss. But can we talk about that ending??? OMG!!
When you touch, the bond awakens, but only for a chosen few.
In this world, you're a settler or a searcher. Settlers pick a partner of their choosing, but the searchers spend their lives seeking out the person made for them. Most die without finding the one.
Emry Crowe's a settler, and happy in her life with Sebastian. When a chance encounter causes Theo's hand to graze her skin, destiny has other plans.
Theo's neither a searcher nor a settler, knowing his journey will be shorter than most. When the bond brings him to Emry, he has a second chance at life.
Emry's devotion to her husband never sways, but the pull between her and Theo may be too much. The three of them battle the laws of nature, wanting a happy ending on their own terms. When challenges arise that threaten everyone's future, both men decide their love for Emry might just change the rules
I received an arc of this book for my honest review and my review is as followed. Oh my god twin flames absolutely destroyed me. Not in a bad way in the best possible way. I literally kept the tissues handy while reading this book. I literally devoured it and I want more. Can’t wait to see where the second book takes us.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for my honest thought and review. The following thought, comments, and opinions are my own.
Oh my goodness! This book invoked all the tears. I’m amazed at how this book concluded. It was so good. I devoured this book so fast because I couldn’t stop needing to know what happened next. I had to keep reading. Book one builds a beautiful foundation of the world and characters Liz has created. This book gives us a look into the struggles of our 3 MCs who learn at the end the importance that love prevails over all. Liz wrote this story to pull on your heartstrings and get you in your feels and boy does it! I feel in love with the world and the characters of this story I was sad when it ended and it broke my heart that it was over. I wish I could go back and read it for the first time again. This story was written so well and allowed us to get lost in a world created just for the readers. Liz gave us a beautiful world and amazing characters to fall in love with and journey through the story with. Even though this story made me go through a box of tissues, it was worth the read and definitely a highlight of my readings! I recommend this book to anyone. Just make sure you have your tissues with you 🤣.
3.5 I still liked this book but I just wanted more from it. The pacing wasn’t very good and I found myself bored in some moments but at the same time this book was trying to focus on too many things at once. It was about their romantic relationships, friendship, trauma, genome theory, saving children and taking down organisations. This all sounds good but nothing was expanded upon or it was really convenient so it fell flat.
I wanted more relationship development between Emery, Seb and Theo. Everything just fell into place perfectly with no angst or setbacks or anything which I thought was unrealistic. I also feel like Seb and Theo’s relationship should’ve been defined more. It was hinted at polyamory and that they may get together but it was a blurry line and nothing came from it so I think their relationship should’ve just been defined as best friends. I still like the characters but I feel like Emery’s trauma should’ve been explored more because she got over getting kidnapped (for a second time) quite quickly and off page.
That ending really got me and I thought it was very sweet, sad and well written and I did get teary. It was probably the only thing in this book that didn’t work at perfectly and I loved it.
If you like your romances without a HEA in which the MMC then this is the book for you.
Going into this second book, I would have said this duet was almost perfection. I loved the realistic explorations of what happens in a fated mate world when one of the parties is already in a committed relationship? What is life like when the bonded mates now have an almost indefinite life span in a world in which the rest of humanity does not - how many kids can you have and watch die, for example?
The only caveat that would render it "almost" perfection is that we don't get Sebastian's POV. He was the glue that anchored everything and was treated like a side character. And that ending...
Look. Just like the first rule of fight club is that you don't talk about fight club, the rule of romance is you get a happy ever after.
If you don't want your bubble burst, don't read the epilogue. Just pretend everyone lives happily ever after. You know, like we do with every other romance whose authors don't see the need to take us to the very end and leave us imagining how their futures played out. I found that to be completely unnecessary, didn't contribute anything to the story, and ruined the HEA.
Three people, one fated mate, one chosen love, more than a lifetime of memories we get to share with them.
I love a good fated mate book. I love urban romance. I love poly/reverse harem stories. This was unlike anything else I've read and I cried like an utter fool at the end. It's heart-wrenchingly good. Wholesome love and complicated characters navigate their way through trust issues, past hurts, and life-changing circumstances, and they find so much goodness and love in each other it will make you believe love actually exists for a short while.
The best part of this story is that the characters are frighteningly relatable. There are no characters making silly mistakes or doing something that makes you want to slap your forehead. They act and live like real people and the story is that much more impactful because of it.
Keep the tissues close by at the end. It's a series I will not soon forget. I am currently taking applications for my own Seb and Theo and will come back with the results when I find them.
So this book was just as good as book 1! If you haven't read book 1, DO IT! This follows Emry, Sebastian, and Theo during the events of Emry's kidnapping by the Genome Project bad guys, and her old enemy is heading the project dead set on performing experiments on her to test the bond and use her to further his sick, twisted science. Sebastian and Theo burn the world to find her, and boy, is this girl not lucky to have these two amazing protective heroes to find her. I don't want to give too much away, but toward the end of the book, you will be hit with some deep emotion, so please be prepared with a box of tissues because when I say that, it will hit you in your soul, I'm not kidding. You will get to see a beautiful relationship between the three and how they navigate this new life that they were given. I loved this book so much, and I feel like it was such a good conclusion. Thank you for not just pulling my heartstrings, but, girl, you ripped them and then put me back together. Excuse me while I go process this duet for awhile!

If you want a short series that has a immersed story and environment. Need to get over a book slump? Perhaps Fourth Wing? Try this Duology!
There is a character for everyone, the ending will leave you a sobbing mess. You will think about this for days.
You have two MMC, Sebastian, and Theo. Sweet, stable I will burn the world for you Sebastian. He saved Emry once, he can do it again. Theo has literally a broken heart, no I mean really? It's broke. He needs Emry but he is madly in love with her because of the bond, and well she is amazing. Theo is nurturing, understanding, and calming.
Between the two you have the perfect man. Why and how could you choose?
What would happen if you got betrayal by someone you trusted, and then kidnapped by them. At least you are not alone this time because you can still communicated to your bonded, and Sebastian will stop at nothing.
I didn’t anticipate crying reading this book based on the first one, to be totally honest & I was planning on starting my review with something snarky about chapter 25. Because let’s be honest, that’s what I was REALLY waiting for. But I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with the characters. Sebastian has my whole heart, he is such an amazing, loving, & honest man. Theo is such a sweetheart, so dang kind & caring. Emry & her commitment to her husband & her bonded both is beautiful. Changing societal expectations & assumptions between the three of them was amazing. Doing the work they chose to do to help & make a difference was so empowering for them all, especially Emry. Finishing up this book I find myself wanting so much more. I want to know how the bond between Seb & Theo evolved. I want to know life after this tragic but beautiful ending. I just want more. Twisted fate & twin flame are my first books by Liz & now I can’t wait to go read her other books.
This book was an arc in exchange for my honest review.
TEAR JERKER. Before reading this, I wasn’t sure what to expect between Theo and Sebastian, and I was hoping there wouldn’t be romance between them. And there wasn’t. I wasn’t dissapointed with this book! Theo and Seb end up with the title of ‘best friends’ that clearly love eachother platonically and are content sharing Emery. I didn’t think I’d cry but I BAWLED at the end. Finding Emery took until about chapter 15, and the second half of this book is SPICCYYY, and the threesomes caught me off guard but they were inevitable. The last chapters include a handful of time skips, which I don’t mind much. I’ve never read anything like this, especially since I usually can’t read though dystopian or fantasy books but this book was absolutely Devine. Yes I will be thinking about this. I shamelessly recommend this to my friends despite the spicy nearing the end of the book and in book one. I devoured this book in one sitting, and was reading as fast as possible, the edge of my seat. The storyline is fantastic and Sebastian will ALWAYS remain my favorite character.
