I found this book useful for prairie reconstruction. It contains detailed information about wildflowers, but also grasses and sedges. There are full-color pictures along with the descriptions, and some general articles about how a prairie functions. This book was recommended to me by a friend who works at a local nature center, when I asked for a guide to prairie grasses.

Tallgrass prairies occur in a vast area. This field guide is a great resource for wildflowers and other common prairie plants as this guide tells you a general region and type of prairie where a plant could be found.

This is the superb fieldguide which accompanies the exquisite photographed tome by the almost the same title --- The Tallgrass Prairie, written by John Maden and photographed by Frank Oberle.
