A humiliating break-up leads to an impulsive New Year's Kiss with a complete stranger.
What could possibly go wrong?
It's no secret that I love life. And Dr. Pepper. But also, I love a challenge...
So when the coach of the Chicago Comets gives me the opportunity to help their star player, newly traded to their team, acclimate to life in Chicago, I'm all in.
I have to be. After my last job went up in flames, I have something to prove.
It turns out that the player, Grayson Hawke, is the rudest, most off-putting, reclusive guy I've ever met.
It also turns out that he is the beautiful stranger I kissed on New Year's Eve.
I can do this job. I can do this job. I can do this job.
And I can. Really well.
I can make Gray's life easier, show him all the reasons to fall in love with this city, and in the process, hopefully completely forget that the amazing kiss ever happened.
How hard can it be? We're total opposites anyway.
I love people... and all their stories. Gray loves hockey... and nothing else.
I love to talk. Gray only stares.
I'm happy-go-lucky. Gray's all work and no play.
There's just one problem. The more time I spend with Grayson Hawke, the more I start to see that underneath his bristly, standoffish exterior, he's nothing like the man everyone thinks he is.
And suddenly, all the reasons for keeping my distance, staying professional, and not falling for someone again... are impossible to remember.
My Lucky Charm is a grumpy/sunshine, sweet hockey romance with all of the sizzle but none of the steam. It's the second in the Holidays with Hart series, but My Lucky Charm can be listened to as a standalone.
Courtney Walsh is a novelist, theatre director, and playwright. She writes low spice romance and women's fiction while juggling the performing arts studio and youth theatre she owns and runs with her husband. Her debut, A Sweethaven Summer, hit the New York Times and USA Today e-book bestseller lists. She is also a Carol award winner and Christy award finalist.
A creative at heart, Courtney has also written two craft books and several full-length musicals. She lives in Illinois with her husband and three children and a sometimes naughty Bernedoodle named Luna.
So heartwarming & charming!! Eloise, the main character and the 2nd Hart sister, is so bubbly and charismatic, and she finds herself falling for a grumpy, standoffish, hockey player. Their storyline is just so entertaining and swoon worthy. I loved their banter and enjoyed how their relationship played out. The holiday in this Holiday with Hart book is St. Patrick's Day but it isn't a big theme or an overwhelming part of the book, just mentioned a couple times. Although this is the 2nd book in the Holidays with Hart series, it can be read as a standalone. I do highly recommend reading the 1st book, My Phony Valentine, however, because it's equally enjoyable!! I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series when it comes out, which I'm assuming will be about the 3rd Hart sister, Raya.
Thank you, NetGalley, and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, Sweethaven Press for a copy in return for my honest review.
I loved My Phony Valentine and when My Lucky Charm came up, I knew I wanted to read it. I love this series. This story is an opposites, sunshine and grumpy meet, and it is just so funny and cute. I found myself grinning as the bubbly and rambling talker, Eloise finds herself working for the grumpy, silent, swoon-worthy Gray Hawke, hockey player for the Chicago Comets, as his assistant. He is not happy that he was traded from Philly and is perpetually angry and non-verbal. Oh, and he is not happy to have a babysitter. Never a silent moment when Eloise is around as she cannot stand silence. I really enjoyed being back in a story with the Comets, sister Poppy and her boyfriend and Comet player, Dallas Burke, and sister Maya, the stern and no fun professional as well as all the fun and loud Comet hockey players. We got meet the sweet and precocious Scarlett, daughter of Gray. Great for those who enjoy a clean, humorous romance with serious issues. I cannot wait for Maya's story! I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts and opinions.
I totally skimmed the heavy kisses scenes because that is so not my thing and it was way too much for my tastes. Compared to the first book though, I would say that this book was less overall content? Still lots of kissing (that lasted basically a full page), noticing of his abs, a couple locker room talks between the guys (including a mild joke about a man’s private parts and someone always being naked), and a few “thank God”s that can feel a bit flippant since we don’t know if the characters have a personal faith. That said, I do think this book was cleaner than the first book and overall less cringe romance parts as well. (looking at you, washboard abs comment from the first book. 😬)
Eloise is a nut case but she’s the most lovable nut case you’ll ever meet. I was cracking up at her and her stories. I do think she was absolutely insane for kissing a stranger but it was a plot device, so there you go.
Gray was a true grump, but unlike a lot of the sunshine/grump trope where the main guy is just a straight up jerk, he actually had his reasonable reasons for why he acted the way he did, so I didn't hate him. I honestly didn't even want to smack him and that says a lot. (I would have liked more of his POV, though.)
I’m curious if Raya’s story will be surrounding Easter? No? Another holiday then, obviously, but I feel like Easter has potential. Or the 4th of July. (Also, for this being a book promoted as St. Patrick’s Day, the final day in the book was that holiday and there’s mentions of it a bit throughout the book, but it’s definitely not an important feature of the book.)
Main Content- (Doing this roughly out of memory since I just binged this book in a few hours) Kisses (lasting up to a full page) & Recalling them and wanting to be kissed/kiss again (up to multiple sentences in length); Touches, Embraces, Nearness, & Smelling *up to semi-detailed); Noticing the other’s physical appearance (including his abs, up to a few sentences in length); “sexy” is used somewhat often; A teammate runs around naked in the locker room and a mild joke is made about his private parts (that a washcloth could cover him); Eloise’s ex did a number on her while making her feel small and cheated on another woman with her (he also makes comments about her looks being the only thing a guy would want her for and makes suggestive comments); A couple misunderstandings/misspoken words that could imply sexual situations (such as asking someone to “try out” a bed & being a “companion” to a man); Mentions of cheaters, cheating, & affairs; Mentions of an out of wedlock pregnancy & the child feeling like she was a mistake (based on conversations overheard); Mentions of flirting & a flirt; Mentions of bras (including Eloise unsuccessfully hiding hers in front of Gray and panicking when she sees him when she’s not wearing a bra).
*Spoiler*
No major language besides one that cut-off, else wise it’s words like stupid, sucked, screw, heck, oh my gosh, darn, dang, crap, etc.
Gray’s father is a jerk who was emotionally and verbally abusive (we see flashbacks and comments from him, which has greatly affected Gray); A couple mentions of a wife leaving her husband and child.
Punching the lights out of someone & them bleeding (satisfying); Eloise and Gray originally meet at a bar (Eloise was the designated driver for her friends) and throughout the book there’s mentions of alcohol and drinking (they both have a sip here and there or it’s implied that they did); Mentions of a car accident & injuries; Mentions of fights & fighting; A few mentions of therapy & a side character says that everyone should be in therapy; A few mentions of a drug bust & a police dog not making it out.
No faith content besides it saying that Eloise said a prayer for help, but the phrase “thank God” is said a few times (but could be flippant feeling to some readers).
If you’re looking for an author that will suck you into the story by the first chapter, every👏single👏time👏 - Courtney Walsh is the one for you!
One thing I love about Courtney’s stories is that we always get to know each character so well. We get to hear their inner monologue and get to the heart of who they are.
That’s why I was so excited to jump back into the Holidays with Hart series, this time following Eloise!
Eloise is chatty, impulsive, a great gift giver, not career driven and wants a simple life, and she wears her heart on her sleeve. I relate so closely to all of these things, so I’m pretty sure Eloise is my favorite female lead in the series thus far. 💕
If you enjoy… ☀️ the Grumpy + Sunshine trope 🏒 Hockey romances 🃏 Witty banter ✌️ Dual POV 🌃 Small Town Girl + City Boy dynamics 🙏 Forced Proximity 🍀 St. Patrick’s vibes (but minimal!) 💕 Clean romances 🚫 No third act break ups
Please consider picking up this book! I highly recommend starting with My Phony Valentine. And though they’re holiday romances, I think they’re perfect reads year round! 💛
Ya'll, I just absolutely loved this book. Book 1 was amazing. Book 2 is amazing. Courtney's Rom-Coms are the BEST! I love these feel good stories that have beautiful happy endings - exactly what I need in life right now.
I LOVE a good Grumpy/Sunshine trope and this DID NOT DISAPPOINT ya'll! I love Eloise and how she sees the good in everyone and has the most heartwarming personality. She truly exudes everything SUNSHINE and I absolutely love that! Meanwhile, Gray's grumpiness and the reasons behind it are sad and understandable, but loved seeing him open up along the way. Eloise really brought out the best in him and I loved that! I also LOVED the reveal / twist in this book. My favorite part that really made the story for me.
The story: Eloise sees her ex boyfriend/boss on New Year's Eve and doesn't want him to think she is all alone. With the encouragement of others, she kisses a stranger for the first time ever in an effort to make her ex jealous. Fast forward to this man being Grayson Hawke - the newest star of the Chicago Comets Hockey Team, recently traded and not happy to be there. The kicker? Eloise is hired to be Gray's assistant and help him warm up to Chicago and his new team. Can she change how he feels? The story kicks off here.
Overall, a great second book in the series. Loved seeing Poppy and Dallas too. You can technically read this as a standalone, but I recommend reading My Phony Valentine by Courtney first, as you get the best reading experience that way!
There is always a certain charm with a grumpy hero, especially in a sports romance. This did a great job at building a backstory for Gray that justified his prickly attitude. I really felt for him! And the unveiling of his private life only added to the hidden softness of his personality. So sweet.
The initial meet-cute between Eloise and Gray had me excited. I immediately felt the spark. But sadly, the story fizzled out for me. Though Eloise and Gray were lovely together, I wasn’t wholly captivated by their romance.
Don’t get me wrong, it was definitely cute! Lighthearted and low angst, if you're looking for that. But lately I seem to need either top-level banter or a unique plot in my romance reads. This didn’t deliver that for me. Like I said, it was fine.
Grump meet sunshine! Workplace meet romance! Alysha meet another 5 star read!
I seriously love this series so much! From the setting to the hockey to the sisters to the players to the family to the feels…just all of it! And this was a great addition!
Eloise’s sunshine, heart on her sleeve personality was heart warming! She loved regardless of where it would end up. And when she loved she loved big! She opened her heart to all and she was a delight. Seeing behind the curtain of that, with the right support system, was nice too!
Gray was the greatest, yummiest, grumpiest grump and his reasons for his gruff exterior were a little heartbreaking. But once he opened up, he didn’t become this golden retriever, he stayed a grump (since there was nothing to change about his personality) But he became softer, and more willing to welcome people into his life so he would have a family and support system!
There were so many aspects to this story that just set it up top of the pack for me! Heartfelt moments, hilarious moments, real moments, family moments…just an overall FEEL GOOD story!
I’m looking forward to Raya’s!! 5/5 stars
*I received this book from the author**All opinions are my own*
I think this might be my new favorite Courtney Walsh book. I adored this entire read and found every spare moment to continue reading. I loved how Gray’s grumpy nature was portrayed and watching him sincerely work on himself and learning to let love in. Let people help, build a community and space that can motivate and support him through the ups and downs. There’s many super sweet moments too that you’ll have to read to see!!
I loved Eloise too. She spoke something to my soul about her life aspirations and where she wanted to be. I’ve often felt the same way and seeing a character with these attributions healed something in me. I thought Eloise and Gray had fantastic chemistry and some AMAZING sizzling kissing scenes. The push and pull tension had me shaking my kindle and I loved how life came together for them.
This whole book was an absolute gem. Loved the hockey content, all of the teammates, the themes and the sisterhood. An incredible read.
Oh my heart! I loved this hockey romance with all-the-feels, great banter, characters with depth, and romance with chemistry! I know that hockey has become a popular theme lately in the sweet romance genre, and Courtney Walsh caught that wave early on, setting the bar for those to follow. Her characters are vibrant and the story plays like a movie in my head- but better than any I've seen lately! Grayson is one tough nut, but we get to see the why as his layers are peeled back. Eloise is up for the challenge, and I loved her optimistic cheerfulness that was a little naive but never annoying. The little random ways Grayson and Eloise connect with each other are fun and endearing. The sense of family- both related and found- brought a foundation of belonging and loyalty, even for those who find themselves floundering. For sports fans and non-sports fans alike, the hockey element brought intensity, drive, and a dynamic setting without taking over the romance and relationship focus. The author balanced it perfectly and hit that sweet spot. This is a series I plan to re-read, and I can't wait for more!!!

'I make up my mind right there that I'm going to be the best companion that man has ever had--and kiss or no kiss, I'm not going to let my heart get even slightly involved in any of it. Not at all. Nope. Not even a little.'
Courtney Walsh. You continue to win me over with these books. First it was The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley (if you haven't read that one, please grab it ASAP!) and now with My Lucky Charm.
Forced proximity, workplace romance, a kiss on page 13, grumpy/sunshine, protective MMC and a FMC that WILL NOT GIVE UP!
Ugh. I love it. I love it all so much.
This book has great banter, wit, annoyance and sarcasm, swoony romance, unpredictable side plots and is completely, 100%, un-put-down-able. I picked this one up right after dinner and had this baby done and dusted before 11pm. I seriously, could not put it down. I think this might be the fastest I have ever read a paperback book in my life.
I have so many highlights and annotations and I want to share every single one of them with you.
But I wont.
This is one you need to just read and enjoy. Gray needs to find his love for Hockey...well this book will help you find any lost love in reading.
Need a pick me up? Grab My Lucky Charm. Need to be entertained for a few hours? Grab My Lucky Charm. Need an escape? Grab My Lucky Charm. Want a good laugh? Grab My Lucky Charm.
You see how this works? It's a lather, rinse, repeat kind of situation and I can't wait to pick it up and start rereading it.
I'm obsessed. If you couldn't already tell :)
Fabulous setting, can be read at any time of year (although can we mention how adorable this cover is? Love it!), and can be read as a stand alone!
Happy reading to anyone who picks this one up! It's a keeper!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Content: grumpy/rude MMC, down on her luck FMM, family dynamics (good and bad), a couple of religious exclamations, moderate innuendo (one short scene involves a naked man in a sports locker room - less crude than book 1), romance-kisses only
I thought this was cute! I def wouldn’t say it’s the best rom com I’ve read, but it wasn’t too bad! I’m not a big fan of the single mom/dad trope, and I had no idea this book had it, so that was a little annoying🙁 It was done well, but I just don’t like that trope so that was a big let down for me. Also, Gray saying he “doesn’t talk” and “no emotions” was so annoying! Like I get it to an extent, but just stop! It’s not realistic at all! And I couldn’t stand how they kept getting close and then getting scared and taking space again! Just get together already! 😂 Other than that, it was pretty cute! I’ve been in my hockey romance era, so it was fun and quick! It was sweet to see Gray’s love and adoration for Scarlett show through the pages, and I loved seeing Eloise help him grow and open up! All in all, I would say it’s a solid read if you enjoy single dad/mom romances! Tropes: ⛸️ Single dad ⛸️ Grumpy x sunshine ⛸️ He hates everyone but her (at first) ⛸️ Hockey romance
Pages: 376 Language: 🫢 TW⚠️: drinking, childhood trauma Genre: Romance Format I read: Kindle Unlimited Would I recommend to others: Depends
“Nice.” I shimmy my shoulders a little. “I feel like this was a breakthrough.”“It wasn’t.”“We just had a moment.”“We didn’t.”“You’re going to warm up to me. I promise.”
The book was a very easy and fast paced read. I loved Eloise so much, her personality was very appealing and she was the highlight of the book! Gray on the other hand was too closed off. While his moments with Eloise were adorable and I loved how she could finally crack a smile from him, I felt like I did not know him at all tbh. The grumpy sunshine trope was well executed but there was this thing about Grey that was really shocking, and I felt like I did not sign up for it. The chemistry between Gray & Eloise was very strong and I really wanted to love the book but it was pale in comparison to book one tbh. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, but just very forgettable and underwhelming, imo. But I'm excited to see if the third sister, Raya gets her own book because she was the one who intrigued me the most.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review
I really enjoyed this love story. Grey is my favorite kind of hero, all grumpy, wounded and brooding. There are a few twists I didn’t see coming which were fun. This is a great series! I love the titles and covers for both books and I look forward to Raya’s story next!
Eloise is single, at a bar on New Years Eve with all her coupled up friends. This would be sort of fine until her ex, who dumped her and fired her on the same day shows up. To save face she kisses a random (hottie mc hot hot) stranger sitting at the bar at midnight and has the most epic kiss of her life.
Fast forward and she’s starting a new job working for the Chicago Comets pro hockey team as a personal assistant for the teams newest member Grayson Hawke. He’s grumpy, he’s rude, and no one likes being around him. He comes by to meet her for the first time and UH OH, it’s amazing New Years Kiss guy!
I just LOVE Eloise. She’s hilarious, fun, a people pleaser, strong, and so relatable. Brooding Grayson is such a good one. It’s hard not to love a grumpy bad boy with a secret soft side. The characters were all so well written and the story line was so fun. Seriously this is now a top fav in the rom com genre!
Book comes out March 16th, make sure you add it to your list! Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced readers copy- I lurrrved it. 😍
I loved this one! I loved that it got me sucked in and I didn't want to put it down. I loved the characters! I actually loved the grumpy-sunshine trope in this one. Eloise is such a likable character, she has a "sunshine" personality that you can't help but love, but I really liked the character growth she goes through. Grayson, is definitely a grump. It's understandable the reasons why he is that way, but it was sooo good to see the real him come through and his character growth as well. They are so good for each other, you can't help rooting for them. I thought the story flowed well, had good pacing and I enjoyed the side characters and overall plot. I look forward to reading it again!!
Content Rated PG Clean romance, swoony kisses. No language, a scenes in a men's locker room (mild nudity done for humor), no violence but some talk of poor relationship with father/son.
This was the first book I have read by Courtney Walsh and now I need to read all her books ASAP starting with My Phony Valentine which was book 1 of this series. You can totally read this one as a stand alone book as I did, but I can't wait to see even more of Eloise's story in book 1 as well and see her sister Poppy fall in love!
This book just absolutely nails the Grumpy/Sunshine trope!
Grayson is the ultimate grump! He grunts, he is short with people and angry at the world. He is a professional hockey player whose attitude says he needs no one and no distractions.
Then you have sunshine personified named Eloise! She is like the energizer bunny on steroids in the best of ways! She rambles, says what she is thinking, and cannot stay quiet. She wears her heart on her sleeve and just constantly sends out love to anyone and everyone.
Seeing them together was just perfection! I loved how Eloise truly saw Grayson for who he was under his tough exterior and also what he could become. I love that the book takes you on a journey with them as you discover why Grayson is the way he is. And the reasons are equally heartwarming and heartbreaking.
If you want a book that will make you laugh, gasp, swoon, cry, and just feel all the feels and yet just make you smile give this one a go!
Physical Intimacy Level 2 (Longer making out without too much detail and some innuendo) Zero Swearing Dual 1st Person POV
I messaged the author on Instagram and said “I like Dallas, but Grayson Hawke has my whole heart”! And this is the absolute truth! While he’s awkward, surly, and kind of an overall grouch at the beginning of this book, by the end—like Eloise—I just wanted to give him a big hug and tell him that everything was going to be okay!
Courtney absolutely did not disappoint with the youngest Hart’s story, and I cannot wait for Raya’s romance redemption story!!!
PS — Jericho and just the team in general is the real MVPs of this story as. I ADORE every interaction with this shameless man 🤣
I found Grey really frustrating, which brought my rating down, but I loved Eloise! I was disappointed we didnt get to see the St. Patrick's Day celebration and green river, when it was mentioned so much and supposed to be the whole theme of the book.
Content notes: A few innuendos, making out, Jericho is once again naked (can we please not)
Eloise is the little Hart sister. She’s a positive ray of sunshine. She doesn’t have big career aspirations. She just wants a happy life with a happy family. She’s been through it though. She’s had some terrible relationships in the past and she’s finding that maybe she trusts people with her heart a little too much. Gray is the opposite. A man of so very little words. Closed off to the max. The grumpiest of grumps. Trust no one. He was just traded to a new team so he’s in a new town with no family or friends and he’s refusing to even try to make an effort to connect with anyone.
I think my favorite thing about both books in this series are the way the female characters are written. I loved Poppy in the first one and I loved Eloise in this. Eloise is the kind of person that makes everyone feel a little more comfortable when you’re in the room with them. She’s incredibly genuine. She talks. A lot. More importantly though, she listens. She knows just what everyone around her needs to be happy. I really really liked her.
Gray was harder to like. At first. There’s a part in this book where he sends the thumbs up response in a text exchange with Eloise, not once but twice! That is the equivalent to texting ‘K’. If I was Eloise I would have been ready to throw hands just for that. Something happens later in the book though that changes everything. You learn a lot about his past and you understand him more. I really liked him by the end. He was terrible with words but better with actions. And like Eloise, he listens and pays attention.
This book was a lot of fun! It will make you smile and feel all gooey inside. What more could you ask for in a romcom book?! It’s a slow burn and I love it! Eloise and Gray are perfect for each other. I highly recommend if you like a closed door, low angst romcom with a dose of family drama. Thank you NetGalley, Courtney Marsh, and SweetHaven Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving this review.
Eloise and Gray have the best grumpy/sunshine story out there!
I loved the way they met, with a swoony New Year’s kiss, but it was the way the story unfolded that won my heart. This series about the Hart sisters is so much fun, especially as they connect in different ways with hockey players and this story can stand alone.
Eloise is pure sunshine, as she is so optimistic, carefree and truly knowing and caring about everyone around her. Gray lives up to his name, with his cloudy, stoic and oh-so-cranky-with-a-side-of-temper attitude. But don’t let him fool you–he was easy to forgive as his reasons came to light and I couldn’t get enough of this duo.
Courtney Walsh writes in a way that leaves me eagerly turning the pages and connecting with the characters in such a real way. I love the hints of sizzle with no spice, the charming connections, the team camaraderie, and the way I fell head-over-heels for these characters and their swoonworthy kisses.
From the very first kiss to the very last page, this story is as sweet as a snack of Lucky Charms and a Dr Pepper.
Content/TW: swoony kisses
*I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.*
The way Gray is just casually stealing readers’ hearts…😍
As much as I adored Poppy & Dallas (which was a lot!), I just might love Eloise & Gray more!
Grumpy x sunshine dynamics are one of my favourite tropes, and Courtney gave it to us in spades. Also, the interactions between Gray & Scarlett? Ugh, I was getting teary! 🥹
Eloise was such a sweetheart! I loved reading about a heroine who wasn’t a girl boss with huge corporate aspirations or even big dreams. She felt a little lost but knew she wanted a simple life. A quiet life with love, a good man and a family. Her quiet dreams didn’t make her less. 💛
I absolutely adored this audio book from start to finish. The narrators did a great job with the voices. The story was fun yet full of heart, too. Both Eloise and Gray had such depth, with backstories that contributed to the people that they were...a sunshiny people pleaser for Eloise and an emotionally closed off grump for Gray.
I loved the way Eloise's vibrant personality and determination to see the good in him was exactly what Gray needed to make his life so much better than it had become. And he truly was a good man! I loved finding out all kinds of things about Gray and the way those revelations helped to show the man that Gray truly was.
I loved this story so much and know that it will be one that I definitely listen to again.
My Lucky Charm is the second book in the Holidays with Hart series. While you'll see some familiar characters, this can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
Oh my goodness... this book. I. Am. Obsessed.
My Phony Valentine was one of my absolute favorites of 2023 (and honestly, all time!). Needless to say, I was excited to read the next book in the series... but when you love a book that much, it can be hard to live up to that expectation. Not only did this book live up to them, it far exceeded my expectations. In fact, I loved it even more than the first... and that's truly saying something!
First of all, it's a hockey romance, which is just one of my very favorites right now. Second of all, I love a good grump... and Gray is the absolute grumpiest! But as we get to know him, we realize there is so much more behind his gruff exterior, and I just couldn't help but love his character. Eloise is the perfect sunshine to his grumpiness, and I love how she strived to make him see himself as more than just a hockey player. There was definitely a bit of a surprise that I did not see coming with this one. You'll have to read the book for yourself to find out... but I loved it so much! These two were just so fantastic together! And while we get that first kiss in the first chapter (for those that don't like to wait), this definitely feels like the best kind of slow burn too. I've never read a Courtney Walsh book I didn't love... but this one is definitely a new favorite, and an absolute must read.
My Lucky Charm is a closed-door romance, with kisses only and no language.
**I received an ARC for consideration. All opinions are my own.
this was adorable! can we get a moment for scarlett because i love her! eloise and gray’s banter with one another >> i enjoyed this one a lot! also the cover?? so cute ☘️🩷 this is a grumpy x sunshine and sports romance that i highly recommend
to start this off, I would like to thank NetGalley, Courtney Walsh, and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review!🍀
This book was one of the most adorable reads I have read this year!!🍀 there’s just something about a grumpy man I love so much🤭 Grayson was probably the most adorable grumpiest man I’ve ever read about! and Eloise!!?? Are you kidding me??? Just her name sounds like such sunshine you already know you’re gonna instantly love her!🥺 I adored reading about every character in this book and the dynamic between all of them! Especially Scarlett! Literally the cutest kid ever! What I loved most about this book was that we really focused on Gray and Eloise’s connection through talking and not all that spice that comes with a lot of books. We really FELT them connect on an actual talking level you know? Gray having trouble communicating his feelings and slowly finding his way to do that was so special to read🥺🍀
To Courtney Walsh, I cannot wait for Rayas book and what you have in store for her🤭🫶🏻
Well this was just stinking adorable! Oh so fun! I loved it so much! I love a good Grumpy x Sunshine book. Gray is a hockey player and a grumpy one at that. The team hires him an assistant, Eloise, to help with his PR and get used to his new team. The problem, Eloise and Gray have met before, in fact they kissed at midnight on New Year’s Eve, but as strangers. And now they meet again and have to keep things professional. Like I said, great story and I loved it. I loved Eloise and Gray’s relationship. Eloise helps Gray to loosen up and open up. Gray helps her to feel more confident and proud of herself. They have great chemistry. And Gray’s daughter Scarlet is adorable and a great character. Overall great story and I recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
Content: 2 shirtless scenes with the girl doing some mild ogling, one scene mild sexually suggestive comment from teammates
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
This was adorable. All the stars. This is a grumpy/sunshine romance between a professional hockey player determined to be the best (Gray) and an optimistic assistant who wears her heart on her sleeves (Eloise).
It’s set in Chicago which I love, and includes lots of references to our food, sites and even dying the river green for St Patty’s day.
I grew up watching the romcoms of the 90s and early 2000s that were sweet, funny and full of heart - and that is exactly how I’d describe this book.
