A relationship is the last thing she wants right now. For her, business comes first, and mixing business with pleasure is something she vowed never to do.
In his mind, relationships are just not built for men like him. But when fate aligns his paths with hers, all the walls he's had built up around his heart come crashing down.
Things between them were only supposed to be professional. But what happens when they realize that keeping things strictly professional just isn't nearly enough?
Jaiden, The King Who Got Me is the fourth book in The Evans Family series and the third story in The Evans Brothers arc.
Miss Jenesequa’s romance novels are known for their powerful and convincing storylines filled with love, drama, and passion. If you’re eager to explore unique and captivating stories, she’s the indie author for you.
I was looking forward to this book because I enjoyed the others in this series. But something about this book was different. I love the main characters and it was a sweet story but it felt repetitive and too much explanation in some places. There was also a lot of inner thinking and not enough dialogue between characters in my opinion. Still worth the read to finish the series but i found myself skimming parts.
By far my least favourite but it has great moments hence the rating. I loved the representation with Dionne having vitiligo, I loved how open and emotional Jaiden was especially through his depressive state and he easily broke down and cried at any given. Again getting elements of all the previous couples and the babies but otherwise it just lacked something, it took forever for me to finish reading this.
The final Evans brother has been community peen his whole adult life. But realizing he is the only Evans sibling that hasn’t found love sends him into a depression. A new work project leads him to find his person. Jaiden and his “Pretty Baby” are cute. I do wish they’d hunched sooner. 😜 It really could've been shorter because it dragged in the middle.
The book itself overall id give a 3. Include the characters and their story add another 0.5. Now that im done with the series - I HATE HOW WORDY THE AUTHOR WRITES!!!!! It feels like im back in hs reading a peers essay and they used a lot of fillers to get to the minimum word/page count. The very first book with Jordana wasn’t written this wordy. That one reeled me in. First Evan’s bro book again wasn’t that bad. These last two.. whooooo.
Anyway - I loved how Dionne consistently was vocal about her man. Had his back. I’m happy for the Evan’s Bros. Glad this is wrapped up lol
Throughout the series, Jaiden was pegged as the ladies’ man…always bragging about his newest conquest. So, I would have never guessed that his book would be a slow burn. But when it started burning, it was on fire!
I appreciate the author’s highlight on depression in men. Because they are expected to be strong all the time, it oftentimes goes unnoticed. I loved how she allowed Jaiden to show emotion and acknowledge his true feelings. Depression can look differently for different people and the way they cope with it. Some will use food, alcohol or drugs as coping mechanisms. Jaiden’s was sex. I loved how Dione allowed herself to be a safe space for Jaiden. I also loved how he poured into and affirmed Dionne when she was struggling mentally as well.
Like some of the other books in this series, this one was too wordy and repetitive. With it being so wordy, I expected the FMC and MMC to have more depth. They went from spending a few days together during the short term project to having deep feelings for each other. When and how did this happen? I wish the author would have taken a deeper dive into how their feeling for each other developed so quickly. Instead, there was a lot of writing about stuff that didn’t add to their courtship or the storyline. It also made the book longer than necessary.
Nonetheless, this was still a decent read and I really enjoyed the series.
This was an immersive reading of experience and the narrators did a great job throughout the series
This story touches on mental health and grief. Jaiden appeared in the last 3 books and seemed to have a playful demeanor. I was sort of caught off guard by his mental health struggle. I enjoyed how Jaiden supported Deon as she struggled with the world's perception of her.
- [ ] Mental health representation- I think this was done well. I enjoyed the inner monologues that the main characters had so that we as readers knew what they were thinking. Depression is a real thing and I loved how the author tackled this topic. You can see how certain conversations impacted the thoughts of the character and I respected how well it was written. - [ ] Vitiligo - As you can see from the cover, the main female character has this skin condition and I truly enjoyed the representation of it. She was truly an empowered strong individual. I am glad that she was not written as an insecure, passive woman. - [ ] She had no issues with being submissive to him (read the book- I won’t spoil it) - [ ] A man will and can change for the One (read the book- I shall not spoil it ) - [ ] Side characters - they were everything. I especially loved Taz..
Things I was not a fan of: - [ ] Wordiness- in my opinion, I felt that things were a little wordy. Some things were a little too descriptive. - [ ] Saying I love you early- now there were some building of the relationship between the main characters. I still felt that sharing ‘I love you’ was really early. The amount of time the two were getting acquainted was not really that long. - [ ] The dog- um- yea .. I know people love their pets but this was a little too much for me. I understood his importance I knew that Jaiden would be the brother that I loved the most (out side of Genesis). He was funny and his personality was loveable. He was a true sweetheart and was not playing about his Sugar Mama. I enjoyed the story overall. I never thought all the brothers would get books after Jordana’s but glad they all got their moments to shine.
I love this series! This book is so cute. Compared to other books in the series, there are more inner thoughts versus interaction with the characters. But I love how there is education on depression with Jaiden. It addresses depression and coping mechanisms within men and how men will hide. Then there is the education vitiligo with Dee. Dionne was head over heels for Jaiden, and she repped that. I love it. I love the connection that the Evans have with one another and how their spouses are all close to each other. I love seeing the mom be active with Jaiden in this book. Seeing Jaiden get his happy ending was beautiful. This is a story of if a man wants to; he will! And we see Jaiden do just that! I really enjoyed this series.
I just knew Jaiden’s silly self was going to have us all swooning! Miss Jen has done it again! I loved traveling through Jaiden and Dionne’s love. It was so beautiful, uplifting, and endearing. I am sad that this is the end of this series, but it was so good!! All three, plus Gensis and Jordana’s story are must reads!!!!
This was my least favorite of the series. I just didn’t vibe with their love story. It was better than the third one, but I still think the first one was the best. I also found it very strange that the relationship with the dog was so prominent.
Now, for 3 books Jaiden has gotten on my damn nerves. He's the baby of the bunch, always goofy, cracking jokes and sellin' out everybody. As Jaxson and Nikita say their "I do's", Jaiden starts to feel inadequate. He realizes all of his siblings have found their happily ever after and he hasn't. He had convinced himself that he was content just being a player and having multiple women at his disposal. Until he wasn't. He falls into a deep depression after that, even neglecting his work as a contractor, web developer and tech genius.
Dionne is a powerhouse of a business woman who is fresh out of a draining relationship. In the midst of ending things, she rebounds with her ex's former friend which proves to be a disaster as well. Her skincare empire's website crashes for the second time and she is scrambling to find someone to repair it and keep it from happening again. She reaches out to a friend who recommends Jaiden, except Jaiden is MIA dealing with his depression and ignoring all calls and texts. Jaiden is still Jaiden though and continues his sexcapades, getting caught by the boyfriend of one of his conquests. Jordana and her girls show up to his home and in the midst of it all, Dionne calls him directly. Their interaction is seriously cute and flirty, beyond unprofessional, but it just worked so well to pull me in. I smiled from ear to ear the whole time.
The two arrange to meet to discuss her business needs and are immediately attracted to one another. The women in her office are constantly flirting with him and she has to share her office space with him for the two week duration of the project. They have lunch together one afternoon and get to know each other very well. That lunch turns into her treating him to dinner, which turns into him walking her to and physically placing her into her car before they leave for the night and demanding she text him when she arrives home.
When their two worlds collide, their ability to become each other's soft place is so beautifully written. I love how Jaiden pours into Dionne and is willing to do anything for her knowing she can do those things for herself. I also love how Dionne doesn't have an "I don't need anyone" attitude when she very well could because she's that much of a boss. But what happens when Dionne finally introduces him to her godfather who helped raise her? He's the now ex boyfriend of the woman Jaiden was having a threesome with when he got caught. Whew chile! I love the way the resolution organically happens after this and now Mama Evans is the catalyst.
Last book in the series! I lover the way she writes and will be reading all her work.
Jaiden is the baby of the family and prides himself on being a playa. Well when he bronces the last unmarried Evans (outside of mama he hits him in the feels. It doesn’t help the 2 girls he been entertaining together told him he was just a piece of meat.
He falls into a depression thinking this is just Karma for the way he has been treating woman and he would never be good enough to marry.
Insert Dionne who is looking for a web developer to help e with her crashing website. She is recommended Jaiden because his resume is on point. But because he was in a depressive episode he declined the job. Dionne was not taking no for an answer. She calls him up personally to offer the job and he accepts. While on the phone they established a friendly banter relationship of the rip.
His contract was for only 2 weeks. And he competed the job and some extras. At the end of the contract they admitted their attraction to each other. Jaiden decides he want s to do this right snd not focus on sex like he’s done in the past. So he courts her and very well may I ask.
Everything goes well until it’s time to meet Dionne’s family and Jaiden learns that her godfather is the boyfriend of one of the woman he was smashing. The meeting goes terribly wrong and Jayden agrees with the godfather that he was not good enough for Dionne because of his past.
Falling deep into his depression he shuts off the world for 3 days. But mama wasn’t having that. When mama comes over he tells her everything that’s been going on. Mama comes up with a plan to smooth things over.
Mama and Dionne goes to talk to her godfather and the meeting goes well, leading to a meeting with all including Jaiden. Everything is smoothed out they continue their relationship. Mama starts a relationship with the godfather
Jaiden and Dionne get married. The End.
I would love a story on mama (maybe not as spicy Lmao). And or a story on how lif is now that they are all married. Especially since they are extremely family oriented.
Thank you so much for these stories. I can’t wait to read your other work!

We’ve reached the end of ‘The Evans Brothers’ Series from Miss Jenesequa. The series is about a family of intelligent, strong-willed Black men and their relationship with self, family, their partners and their community.
I enjoyed the story of Jaiden and Dionne. It was great to see Jaiden develop and the author did a good job handling the topic of mental health, specifically depression.
I also liked that the FMC was a smart and powerful businesswoman. It’s great to see authors write that women who “have it all” deserve a positive and healthy intimate relationship.
My main criticism of Miss Jenesequa’s writing is that she is wayyyy too wordy and I find myself skipping large chunks of inner monologue that really don’t add anything to the story.
Jaiden: The King Who Got Me is an engaging story with likable characters that you want the best for. I recommend it to Miss Jenesequa fans for sure.
Final Rating: 3.75/5 stars
Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Jaiden truly stole my heart in this book. He was always the goofy, unserious brother, but this story showed a completely different side of him—his vulnerability, his longing to be chosen, and the emotional walls he kept built up. Miss Jenesequa did an amazing job developing his character and allowing readers to see the depth beneath the humor.
Dionne was equally impressive. She was a boss in her own right—strong, confident, and self-assured. Together, they complemented each other beautifully. They poured life into one another and helped calm each other’s insecurities without losing their individuality. Their connection felt authentic and well-earned.
Yes, the story was spicy 🌶️, but what I appreciated most was that the spice wasn’t the main focus. It enhanced the romance rather than overshadowing the emotional growth and relationship development.
This was a beautifully written story about love, vulnerability, and choosing one another. Miss Jenesequa delivered a standout romance with this one.
What a great way to end the series. I loved every minute of the Evens family love stories!!! The author did an excellent job tying in all of the siblings relationships. The dynamics between each relationship and what symbolized for each relationship was uniquely special and its own. Specifically for this book I loved how we were able to see flaws and insecurities that in all of our everyday lives. Not masking it, but diving into it. Allowing the vulnerability to talk about it and dissected was genuinely pure and something that isn’t talked about enough. On top of that talking about how peoples perceptions and how your perceived to your peers was amazing. The fact that love has no time schedule and when you know you know. The way their love defended itself and each other in high and low times. Defining the odds or defeating the odds that are stacked up against them how they were able to love each other through and allow each other to work through said time was beautiful..
This was so good!! I like how Miss Jenesequa focused on Vitiligo and Depression. Both are hard to deal with in this world. However, having the right people on your side and your team helps that person get through life with so much love and Support! That is what Jaiden and Dionne had with their family, friends and them each other! Although they let their thought or someone else’s thought about them get to them, not only did their family in friends show them that they are important and worthy of love but they made sure to show each other that while still battling their own insecurities that kept creeping up on them! And the fact that they both made sure to do work within themselves so they can better for each other shows growth! Love everything about this story! Oh and how Dionne did not let Jaiden’s past stop her from loving who he showed her who he was when he was with her! (I hope that made sense, LOL!)

Jaiden is the vibrant, charismatic Evans sibling. He’s wealthy and the best at what he does. Watching his siblings find their soulmates leaves Jaiden feeling inadequate and lonely. Unworthy even. At times, you could feel Jaiden’s somberness coming from the pages. Dionne is wealthy, beautiful, and a BOSS! Despite her confident image and near-billionaire status, Dionne is not immune to her own inner battles. Jaiden and Dionne happen to be exactly what each other needs. The attraction is instant. Their banter is adorable, filled with playful nicknames and flirtatious charm. Even when he struggled with his own self worth, Jaiden made it a priority to affirm Dionne.
Jaiden - You are the baby of the family — and it shows in all the best ways. Who knew you would be such a lover boy!
Dionne — a true boss babe, navigating her own pain from her mother’s abandonment and the loss of her father.
The connection between Jaiden and her godfather Cephas almost took them out! I’m so glad they didn’t let it. And let’s take a moment to appreciate Ms. Numa Evans, because she’s such a great mom.
There’s a small age gap (4 years), beautiful representation of vitiligo, and a heartfelt focus on mental health and therapy.
I loved everything about this book — the date nights, Jaiden and Rocky, the website with affirmations, and those love letters. This story felt like love — emotional, gentle, healing and love. 💞
I absolutely adored this one and definitely need a copy for my library.
Miss J Jove I have enjoyed this series so much each one have touched something in me. These Kings and Queens in this series I would never forget. I look forward to the Merciful Master blessing to me for me. I loved how they loved on each other how they flaws was over come with strength determination. Moms Bear was absolutely the best I cried cause she have a companion now think of creating much more story for her but glad her adversity strength she had to raise her boys. A serious mother's love at all times
Thank you again Miss J. Looking forward to more of your reading
All the best blessings to you by Grace of The Merciful Master
It’s official, Jaiden is my favorite Evans brother! Omg the way he caters to Dionne and he is so romantic. I love Dionne for him and I most definitely love him for her! There was instances in the story where my predictions was right on, not going to spoil it for those who have not read it yet but I definitely called a couple of things. All in all it was a great story a little slow at the beginning due to being so detailed but it was worth it in the end. It would be nice too do a story on Jaidens mother and maybe even a spin off for the friends like Holden and Pilar? Miss Jenesequa please keep the books coming! 🥰
Jaiden was definitely the sweetest they all loved hard but something about Jaiden. I will say him and Dionne were a match made in heaven. Cephas had me hot with him about treating Jaiden like that because his woman was a *** 🤷🏾♀️. Jaiden was so thoughtful each Evan’s man had a unique presents about them and Jaiden’s stood out for sure because he went all out for her for sure. I think we need a Christmas book to bring them back 🤣 thank you!
Working through childhood trauma is a great way to navigate the process of healing and understanding the waters of gathering tools needed for your future. Abandonment by any parental figure is hurtful to any child who may not know the reason for the absence or lack of support from the absentee parent that will have the child questioning their worth and lack of receiving unconditional love from a healthy relationship.
Therapy not only provides tools of healing however can provide you a Birds Eye view of learning who you are and to become a better version of yourself.
I thought this wouldn’t top Jaxson’s story but honey! I felt all the feelings in this book. Definitely adding it to my list for reading it again and again and AGAIN!
Jaiden was heavily for the streets and his bouts of depression had him feeling so unworthy! Yet a phone call from Dionne and her soothing voice brought him out. So glad Jaiden got his happily ever after with a woman who was able to be his peace and show him how worthy he was of everything he truly deserved!
Now as for Jacob and Drayson?! Chileeeeee trash a** men who swear they’re the prize.
I didn’t think goofball Jaiden would win me over. But he was such a sweetie in need of some real love. I appreciate the care taken when talking about depression. I also love how Dionne’s vitiligo was embraced and not talked about at any point like it was abnormal.
The writing is never bad. It’s buttery and descriptive but overall this is the same book in a different font. An insta love work place romance. The book was way too long therefore making it redundant.
I really enjoyed this book, especially Dionne and her dog. I loved seeing a true dog mom represented in a story it's something you don’t see often, and it made Dionne feel so real and relatable to me. The bond between them was honestly one of my favorite parts of the book. I also really appreciated the representation of vitiligo and depression. It was handled in a thoughtful way. That said, the book did feel a bit repetitive at times and some things were over explained, which pulled me out of the story occasionally. Overall though, I still enjoyed it and I’m glad I read it.
Jaiden had issues from his dad leaving them as a child and being the youngest really hurt him bad so he used jokes to cover it, but there was some one who needed his help for her company..... Dionne. Just breaking up with a boyfriend she didn't love and getting someone to help her business was where Jaden comes in the chemistry was there from the beginning and love came from it. Great book
