What happens to the dead when they die?

It wasn’t a question Olivia Brennan ever thought to ask. After all, once you've been to Hell and back, how much worse can things get? Her harrowing descent has already cost her everything—her home, her career, the man she loves. But when an enemy resurfaces looking to settle a score, she learns there’s more to lose than she ever imagined.

Purgatory harbors more secrets than the depths of Hell, and Olivia has landed smack dab in the middle of their tangled web. Faced with an impossible choice, she must reach into the darkest parts of her soul for the strength she needs to save everyone she loves. But even if she succeeds, will she ever be the same again?

Maybe some questions are better left unanswered.

Amazing story. I could not put this book down. Twists and turns had me reading so fast. I didn't want it to end! I freaking love this series and still love Drake!

Olivia just can't catch a break, AT ALL. She is heart broken and going through so much. She doesn't want to let anyone know about what she is going through or where she went. It is her weight to bare, no one elses.

The plot twists had me calling Nicki some choice words and wanting to throw my kindle at some parts. I may have even messaged her to yell at her. The twists were not predictable at all. I can't wait for book 3, and doubt that I will do so patiently.

Seriously, read this series.

I fell in love with Olivia and her band of misfit dead things in Prayer for the Dead because of its uniqueness in the genre. Aeonian Kiss was a kick in the teeth with a high-heeled bitch-boot leaving me dying (no pun intended, ok maybe just a little) for book 3.

Action, love (or lack thereof), death (of sorts), what more could you ask for?

Seriously, read this series.

I am So glad that I finally got the chance to read this novel. It was like a breath of fresh air in my reading library. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it is great to have novels that have a plot you kinda have an idea about. This novel had me on my toes guessing the entire time. Just like with Nicki's first in the series, this novel was Fantastic.

Olivia and Drake's story left me breathless with the first novel in this series. When I jumped into this one I went in with all expectations of having a particular outcome. You can imagine how unhappy I was to find myself NOT getting that outcome. But I didn't fret, I knew Nicki would do this story and its characters justice.

Olivia is back and it is not all she hoped it would be. Olivia has secrets. Secrets from her time away that could wreck havoc on her world. With Drake out of her life she isn't doing all that well. Throw in demons from the past and other revelation from the world and Olivia is in for a wild ride.

Nicki gives us a novel about survival. I went into this story thinking it would be going one way with the main plot, and was blown away by some of the twists that Nicki wove in. Aeonian Kiss was a work of magic. Just as you think you have one thing figured out, the rug is pulled out from under you.

There were a few parts where I just wanted to scream at the characters  because I knew what was going on and they were still so Clueless! But, it all worked out for me in the end. I couldn't be more ecstatic for where this series is going to lead.
Synopsis:
What happens to the dead when they die? Do they go to Heaven or Hell... or maybe on a luxury cruise?

It wasn’t a question Olivia Brennan ever thought to ask. After all, once you've been to Hell and back, how much worse can things get? Her harrowing descent has already cost her everything—her home, her career, the man she loves. But when an enemy resurfaces looking to settle a score, she learns there’s more to lose than she ever imagined.

Faced with an impossible choice, she must reach into the darkest parts of her soul for the strength she needs to save everyone she loves. But even if she succeeds, will she ever be the same again?

Maybe some questions are better left unanswered. If there’s one thing experience has taught her, it’s that the universe loves to kick her ass.

I received this book to give an honest review.
If I could give this book more than a 5 wine glass rating I totally would. It is filled with action, humor and so much more. I started this book yesterday and stayed up as late as possible to finish it. Didn't work out that way as I finished it just this morning. I was that hooked into it.
If you have not read book one I highly suggest you read it before this one. As you will understand the characters more and the story line.

Now it has been a year since Olivia and Drake have seen each other she has made it out of Hell. But at what cost? You can see a huge change in Olivia from the Olivia we met in book one. And that isn't necessary a bad thing in a way. Her friends have still stuck by her through everything, but will they still be standing by her when evil comes back for her? Olivia has not told her friends of course what she literally went through while she was gone, and you have to wonder are they going to find out? Because where she was, she was the one that got away! And that has made her someone's target.
My favorite character is still Zane, he is enough to make your heart swoon but at the same time his humor has you in giggles.

We get introduced to a new character in the book named Simon. Now I wondered what role Simon plays within Olivia's life and lets just say you will find out in this book. I am not sure if I should like him or hate him. I am torn.
There was a quote by Simon made to Olivia that literally had me laughing.
This exchange is between Simon and Olivia.
"Oh my god, I feel like such an idiot."
He tugged on my sleeve. "Hey now, don't do that! It's not your fault your vajayjay does nothing for me."
I can just imagine the look on Olivia's face after being told that.

I can not wait to get my hands on book three because I am sure it is going to be just as dark, action packed, humor filled just like this one. If you need a book that is all those things and makes you want to stay up to finish a book then you need to give not only this book a read but the first one a read as well!

Aeonian Kiss is another great book by Nicki Scalise. I loved Prayer for the Dead, and Aeonian Kiss gets just as much of my love. Scalise did a great job of continuing the story, and giving the reader bits and pieces of reminders through the story to remind them of what happened in Prayer for the Dead.

There are twists, turns, love, hate, and every other emotion you can experience in a book. I still hate Katarina, I love Olivia, and I have a newfound affection for Zane. Olivia has such an interesting group of friends; you really can’t help but feel connected to them (in a good way)! I wish I had friends like hers.

Scalise really tested the limits of my patience with some of her characters. I want to know more about each of them and what the hell is going on in certain situations that are hinted at and we are given pieces of here and there. Her twists are, for the most part, unexpected, and the outcome is never clear until the end, which I love. Aeonian Kiss is well written and flows as it should. There is corruption and intrigue. The bad guys are definitely bad guys, so you don’t feel bad for them.

Poor Olivia. That girl just really can’t get a break. If it’s going to be bad, it’s going to happen to her. One thing I love about her character though is through it all, she keeps her snarky sense of humor and keeps going despite everything. She just has been through SO much! I was a little worried about her about 2/3 of the way into Aeonian Kiss, but you’ll have to read it to see why.

I would definitely recommend this book, as well as Prayer for the Dead to anyone who enjoys urban fantasy with likeable characters, entertaining writing and a good plot line.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I was provided with a copy for an honest review...
Aeonian Kiss continues where Prayer for the Dead left. Olivia has literally been to hell and back and is still living in her own hell. In Prayer for the Dead, she feel in love with Drake, but his ex girlfriend hadn't picked up the fact that their relationship was over.
Olivia is trying to get her life back in order without Drake. Katarina is not making that easy for her. She is a woman that is out for revenge. And since everyone is already dead, revenge can last indefinitely. Olivia quit her job and is living with her best friend Devon. So many things have changed since her friends risked everything for her. As Olivia is trying to get her life back together, Devon goes missing. Olivia is now how to make the decision to risk everything for him as he did for her.
As Olivia, Zane, and Tore make their plans to rescue Devon, Olivia discovers many things that she really didn't want to know. Her life takes a turn that she wasn't prepared for.
This book was even better then Prayer for the Dead. I loved how it the twist was that all the characters in the book are dead, but living "normal lives" Prayer for the Dead was really good but Aeonian Kiss was even better. Olivia is a great character. I couldn't put the book down! I hope that Nicki Scalise will continue this series because I want to know what is going to happen with all her amazing characters

WONDERFUL!

This is quite a wonderful Reaper Book! I love anything paranormal and Reapers are up there on my list.

This Story Follows Olivia her Brother Tore and Her Friends Portia, Devon and Zane. After Devon Helps Olivia Escape From A,Hellish Existence she tries to get her life back together. It proves to be difficult with Katarina haunting her dreams and tormenting her.

Longing for her love Drake, whom she hasn't seen since she was cast into hell she is living a lonely painful life. although the love of her friends are the only thing she holds dear besides Drake of course.

With the news that Her tormentor Katarina has been released from her confines Olivia and Her friends Prepare themselves for a fight, only worse happens, Devon Has been kidnapped and the culprit is all to clear when a news feed comes in on her laptop with Katarina holding Devon captive. They are forced to watch the assault on Devon.

Olivia will not let this woman Win, After finding the location Devon They Decide that Olivia and Zane should go in for him.

Full Of Action and Anguish, And A Surprising twist.

Brilliant Writing and Vivid Details! I absolutely Loved this!

I was hooked on Olivia after book one and I wondered what the future would hold for her and her band of friends.
Book two does not let readers down! Olivia is back and dealing with her little trip to the beyond, even though she is already dead. Devon has found a way into my heart and holy heck, Zane is THE man. Purgatory would be a bore with out all of these great characters!
It is a love story, a mystery, a comedy and a revenge story all rolled in to one big ball of juiciness!
I could not put this book down and I wait (not very patiently) for book three, even though this one was just released!!

was just bloody brilliant and really struggled to put it down once I started.
I honestly didn't see some of the twists that happened and genuinely surprised that apart from Zane no one else knows what happened to Olivia while she was 'away'.
I love the plot and how Olivia is a bit of a bad ass in this story with her attitude and no nonsense way of getting things done and getting information.

Wow! So much happened in this book that my head is still trying to figure it all out. It's refreshing to see not only a strong heroine but a loyal group of people willing to stand up and fight for each other. There is just enough action to get you on the edge of your seat but not so much that it takes over the book. I really love this series!

Holy crap this was much more twisted and dark than the first one, I loved it.
I really expected Olivia and Drake to work out in this one but we don't even see him until almost the end.
All the crap that went down with Katrina was messed up. I never thought it was possible with how the last book ended.
Then the ending with Simon?? I mean what a way to go!

This series is so amazing!! I Love it!
Ms. Scalise did a wonderful job of picking up where she left off in Prayer for the Dead, while reminding us of what happened 'there'. I truly enjoyed this book and will continue to read the series to find out what is next!
