Absolutely phenomenal book ! I felt like I was on that street corner with Jack - the cast of characters is extensive and beyond colorful. I could not put it down - I started reading it early evening for a couple of hours, fell asleep, woke up in the middle of the night restless, picked it back up ,and finished it before breakfast. As vivid and visceral as it gets when it comes to the 1970s Bronx. One moment you're laughing uncontrollably, the next you have a knot in your chest and on the verge of tears. As enjoyable a read as I've had in a long, long time.
This novel is an authentic depiction of The Bronx. The characters are well developed and the stories throughout the novel are fascinating, which makes it a real page turner. There are valuable life lessons taught in this book presented in clever and realistic ways.
