Having learned a great deal about my ancestors and their experience as Irish immigrants, some of whom came to Canada during the Peter Robinson settlement project in 1825, this book was an interesting overview of the history of Ireland. It was a quick read after spending a month and a half on "The Empire of AI". I had studied the Fenian Raids over the years from both the Canadian and US perspective but their situation was largely missing from this perspective. The oppression of the Irish by the English over the centuries is put into perspective in a way I hadn't read before. A good "primer" for those interested in learning more about Irish history.

I enjoyed this book. It taught me a lot about our history through an alternative medium: Architecture.
It is informative without bombarding the reader.

Informative book that is easy to read and full of lovely photographs. Doesn't go too deeply into anything, but gives an overview of Irish history.
