How does she move forward with these new revelations? How will her daughter cope? What will become of them now that they know Bryan wasn't the man they thought he was?
Claire can only pray things work out for them during their last summer at the beach house.
I listened to this book on audio, and it was my first Maggie Miller book. I enjoyed it very much and plan to listen to more of her books. Books that take place on the beach are always my go-to novels on the to-be-read list, and this one did not disappoint.
The story follows Claire Thompson, who is grieving the sudden loss of her husband, Bryan. She takes her family for one last trip to their beloved beach house before selling it, hoping to find comfort in the memories they shared there. However, while at the beach house, Claire uncovers shocking secrets about Bryan—secrets that change everything she thought she knew about him and their life together. As she and her daughter grapple with these revelations, Claire must find a way to move forward.
The narration by Erica Sullivan was excellent. Her ability to differentiate characters through voice variations made it easy to follow who was speaking, which is something I really appreciate in an audiobook. The emotions felt real, and the pacing kept me engaged from start to finish.
This was an emotional and heartfelt read, filled with family drama, personal discovery, and the beauty of second chances. If you enjoy beach settings, compelling characters, and stories of resilience, this book is worth adding to your list. I look forward to exploring more of Maggie Miller’s books!
