From USA Today best-selling author Olivia Miles comes the first in a collection of standalone novels set on the fictional shores of Evening Island — just a ferry ride across the lake from Blue Harbor, home to the newest heartwarming series!
The Morgan sisters spent many blissful summers at their family’s lake house growing up, but as they grew older, their lives took very different paths.
Hope adores her twin girls, but she doesn’t love being a stay-at-home mom. When her workaholic husband doesn’t support her career aspirations, she packs up the kids and goes to Sunset Cottage, thinking that some time apart will help her decide what she really wants. But when the life she dreamed of becomes a possibility, she is more torn than ever.
Gemma was supposed to be planning her wedding, not trying to get back deposits. And she was supposed to be finished writing her latest romance novel, not staring at a blank screen. Lost and down on her luck, she heads north to Evening Island, hoping to find the inspiration she needs to fill the page, and maybe, her heart.
Ellie is almost perfectly content living in the house that once belonged to her grandmother, even if it does get a little lonely sometimes. Still, work is steady at her art studio and the island continues to serve as a muse, especially when her first love makes a surprise return.
In the course of a month, the Morgan sisters learn that despite their differences and their personal struggles, they might just have more in common than the old summer cottage that they inherited.

Evening Island where the lake sparkles, sunsets in shades of magenta & orange, & the salty air wafts with hints of fudge & waffle cones! Meet Me at Sunset by Olivia Miles is the first in the new Evening Island series, which is just a ferry ride away from Blue Harbor (another book series by OM). In this book, there are three sisters who spend the Summer together at Sunset Cottage, the charming home they inherited from their beloved Gran. Ellie, the youngest, has been living on the island in Sunset Cottage solo, operating her very own art studio and selling her gorgeous watercolors in local shops on Main Street and is happy and fulfilled...or is she? The arrival of her sisters and string of events involving a former first (and only, for that matter) love, Simon, cause her to reevaluate her path. Gemma arrives to Sunset Cottage with the hopes of escaping her bad memories in Chicago after the cancellation of her wedding, and finishing her new book in the quiet space of her old room overlooking the gorgeous lake....and a handsome groundsman who happens to be working next door provides excellent inspiration to her writers block, especially as the two get to know one another. Meanwhile, Gemma and Ellie's oldest sister, Hope, arrives to Sunset Cottage with her two rambunctious twin girls, not sure of anything but for the fact that she needs an escape from her thankless and lonely life, and some quality time with her sisters in the place where she always felt peaceful and happy. This book is a story of three sisters who are each finding their way in life together in the place that always bonded them, finding out how to push through the struggles to get to the other side and how to navigate the bumps in the road, the challenges that life presents....all wrapped up in a cozy summer lakeside setting! This is a great beach read, spring/summer read!
Really enjoyed this book about 3 sisters, Hope, the perfect wife, Gemma , the smart one and Ellie, the free spirit. Together they inherited their grandmother's home at Sunset Beach. Hope and Gemma live in Chicago and Ellie lives in the house at the beach. See how it goes when Gemma, Hope and her 4 year old twin girls spend time with Ellie at the beach house. Will they decide to sell it, share it as they are and will Gemma stay or go back to Chicago. A GREAT READ,
I enjoyed the book. I felt like the end was rushed a bit. Hope was the character I identified with. I wanted her to stay on the island, to feel free to be herself. They all felt free on the island.
I really liked this story. I liked the characters and the plot of this book. I hope she'll revisit the island and these characters. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Another winner from Olivia Miles. It kept me guessing-to the very end. She molds her characters into real people who have real life experiences with love and loss.
3 sisters left a home by their grandmother. All 3 are at a turning point in their lives and come back to the house to reconnect and figure out what’s next.
A light and emotional story that was easy to read and held my attention throughout. The book went through so many emotions and the relationships felt real.
Finding oneself can be hard but getting there is or can be a wonderful journey. It's everyone's choice. Hardest part is recognizing, setting and following your path. This story is so well written. It pulls the reader in, I felt like I was there. Highly recommend this book and author. On to the next book in this series.
What a wonderful book! This is the story of three sisters who grew up close, loving their summers on Evening Island, but who had all gone different directions as adults, which caused distance in their relationships with each other. Ellie remained on Evening Island, and one summer the other two return for extended stays. This is their story of working through those changes and fissures in their relationships with each other, as well as giving them time to evaluate and work through issues each deals with in her own personal life and romantic relationships. It’s a story of past hurts, hope and renewal, second chances, family, and finding happiness. I loved the book, highly recommend it, and look forward to future visits to Evening a Island!
