I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. The Only One is the last book in the End of Days Series. This is not a stand alone novel and should be read only after the first two books, The Hunted One (book 1) and The Lost One (book 2). The biggest battles are yet to come. New sacrifices must be made in order to win the war. Gabriel is now in command of the fallen giving Michaela and the Archangels an army they can fight with. Even with the fallen at their command it won't be enough to win the war to take back Heaven. Michaela learns of a vision of the future that is both a blessing and a curse. Gabriel and Michaela's relationship grows stronger in the midst of chaos but how long with their happiness last? Clark is trying to recover and learn his place in the world. His magic is growing but is it enough to help those he still cares about? Will the sacrifices be too great to win Heaven back? Wonderfully crafted. This book was unbelievable. The conclusion is not to be missed by End of Days fans. The characters continue to grow and develop becoming stronger and finding their place and meaning in the world. The black and white world isn't what it seems and the grey areas are called to attention and we learn that nothing is perfect, nothing is as it once was. Once you pick this book up you won't want to put it down. There are so many ups and downs leaving you hanging on every word to the very end. It was a wonderful ending to a fantastic beginning. I look forward for more by this author. I recommend this series to fans of Gena Showalter's Angels of The Dark Series and fans of books about the end of days and angels. If you liked this series another one to try out is Guardian of the Angels Series by Anyta Sunday or Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare. I rate this book 5 fangs.
The End Of Days. While reading this book that's where you are. I felt like I was right there fighting with Michaela, Clark, Gabriel, The Archangels and The Fallen. The way Meg Collett writes in such a descriptive way puts you right in the middle of the war to save Heaven and Hell. And Earth! The relationships between the characters in this book/series are unique and very creative. The whole series leads up to The End Of Days and the fight to keep that from happening, but it's also about honor, good versus evil, forgiveness, friendships, and love! The twist and turns this book took amazed me. I couldn't put it down and read it straight through. When it all came together and I read "The End" I was in awe. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This is NOT the typical genre that I read most, but I would read this book and series over and over again!! It was fanfreakingtastic! I'd recommend this book and it's entire series to ANYONE that does or doesn't read Paranormal or Angel books. This author has a way of writing that can turn the most die hard erotica/romance reader into a HUGE fan of Paranormal. She definitely turned me!
This is it, finally Michaela and the others are going to fight for Heaven. They have to decide on how to fight the war...follow the rules and dont use the bone swords or break all the rules and use the bone swords thereby killing angels. And there is still the problem with how she will get back up to open the gates to Heaven. But before that they have to figure out how to get by the watchers, but after losing his father and love, Clark leaves to get some space only to see what the watchers are doing and has to get Michaela and the other angels to help stop them.
This being the 3rd in the series and also last, Meg out did herself!! This is a page-turning, cant put down ending to a AWESOME series!!!
WOW!! AMAZING!!! And the end of the series but what a way to end it!! As with the other 2 books this took hold from the 1st page and had me laughing and crying and getting angry with and for the characters. Michaela is off to save Heaven and with her are the other angels and characters you've learned to love in the other 2 books. How this fight happens will have you yelling and crying and on the edge of your seat. This is different from most paranormal I read and I now love angels!!! The author did an amazing job telling this tale and I can't wait to read more from her. No matter the genre you read you must read this and you won't be disappointed.
UNFRIGGNREAL!! I Loved this book beyond words..This story had me crying, laughing, yelling and cursing out the author.. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review...and Honestly it was Awesome! Micheala.. is an amazing character..I loved her strength and her compassion it's what makes her the perfect General of Heaven. But its also those strengths that caused her down fall.. this book show how she redeemed herself not only in her eyes but in Heavens eyes.. Clark... well what can I say about Clark? Hes hysterical.. I loved his attitude thru the whole series Keep an eye on Clark he will surprise you. Gabe... not only the sexiest angel around but his devotion and Loyalty to Micheala is astounding.. even tho he would have handle the war differenty he still respected her leadership and followed her no matter what. His scenes were my favorite in the book... I had more emotionally meltdowns with hi then any other character except Loki. Loki.. Literally had the weight of the world on his shoulders. This man broke my heart.I am so sad to see it end but all is as it should be in the end... 1 mistake may have caused a Thousand Consequences but 1 heart mended it all. I look forward to reading anything Meg Collett writes she is an amazing author!
To rate with five stars is just simply NOT enough to properly award the beautiful story that Meg Collett has shared with us. So for the first time ever, I am awarding it my new ‘so perfect I rated it twice’ rating of TEN stars. If ever a book deserved it, this would be it. I fell in love with Meg’s work from the start of this series.
The Only One is book 3 (and the end) of the End of Days series. I was completely and utterly floored throughout this book. I laughed so loud in public people thought I was crazy….which of course led me to explaining my circumstances and writing down the information for a few that thought they might be interested in reading it as well. But I also cried so hard it hurt. The heartache and sadness radiates through the last several chapters. I thought I would be left missing a piece of my heart as well, but in the end, Meg took me by surprise and did the unthinkable! And the heartache and sadness was swept away, leaving only a tiny scar that will be cherished and reopened again and again.
I cannot wait to read the series over again. And I will certainly be suggesting it to everyone I know.
It is bittersweet that the series has come to an end, but it is a series of total perfection!!! I don’t know what the future holds for her books, but I know I will be first in line!
I just love this series! I thought the characters were well researched and planed out. This series grabbed me right from the start. The world Collett created for us is so filled with backstory, myth, and legend it was a joy to read. The third installment of The Only One did not disapoint. It was action filled with drama and mystery. The love story was so touching and sexy it had me swooning. Michaela is the General of Hevaen and needs to protect everyone from the Aether who have lost their way. The Aether reminded me of the proverb, The road to hell is paved with good intentions. It's Michaela's and the other Archangel's duty to put it right.
The relationship between Michaela and Clark had to be my favorite relationship in the series. He turned away from his birthright, but his duty was always ingrained in him. He rescued and protected Michaela in the first book. The relationship grew in the second book as Michaela became stronger and Clark learned more about his powers. The third book just strengthened their friendship even more. They may have their disagreements and their own baggege to deal with, but they know they can lean on each other. They can depend on each other no matter what has happened or what is about to happen. The love they share between them is so strong and touching.
Collett is one of my one click authors. I can't wait to see her next project!
I type this review as tears finish streaming down my face from the last 10% of the book. This was an emotion, gut-wrenching read but the ending was truly beautiful and better than anything my mind was struggling to come up with. It starts off with war, and plotting and planning on how to get into Heaven.
I loved the moments of tenderness and love shared between Gabriel and Michaela. I loved that Clark also didn’t want anything to happen to Michaela because he loves her too. I hate Abel, and at around 70% I had to take a moment to pause because my irrational anger towards Abel had me wanting to reach into my Kindle and punch him in the junk. Clark develops awesome powers and I loved the ending where Meg gives you a little hint as to how Clark might find his slice of happiness. I spent about 90-97% in a state of denial, tears, and being overly emotional. 98% gave me hope and in the end things turned out better than expected. I will conclude this with saying I like Loki…5-fat ugly crying stars for this book!
Overall, and excellent series and I highly recommend!
Meg Collett's book The Only One (End of Days Book 3) from start to finish will keep you on the edge of your seat turning and turning and turning the pages. You will be doing that until the end. This book is the end of the trilogy and this one has so much love and sacrifice in it. There are some twists and turns. The ending is great and there are a few surprises too. You won't go wrong at all. But you should read the previous books first to really get the feeling of the whole story Those books are: The Hunted One and The Lost One. I gave this book 5 stars but it really desrves many more. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I look forward to more from Meg Collett.
I received the ARC of The Only One and finished it last night. Wow! What a conclusion to an amazing series! As I closed the book, I was happy, sad, and thankful. Thankful that Meg shared her gift with us. I will miss Clark, Michaela, Gabriel, and the rest of the wonderful characters in this series. I'm so glad I can go back and re-read the books! :-) I would highly recommend this series to anyone who wants to be thoroughly engrossed in characters who are flawed, but redeemable and an adventure that brings you face to face with forgiveness, acceptance, love and friendship.
This was a great book, What a great ending to the trilogy. I loved how this ended. I can't think of a better way to end it. She is still figting and this book is the final fight and what happens after. I don't do spoilers sorry, but this is a must read. Really a great trilogy that just keeps you wanting more.
The Only One is the climatic finale the trilogy written by Meg Collett. This book was the perfect finish of this series! Personally I had no idea how the author would be able to finish this series since it really seemed like everything was stacked against our heroes! The author came up with an incredible plot that tied up all loose ends and revealed finally all the secrets we were waiting for. There was no time to put the book since I felt like I didn't want to miss out, clearly silly since it was a book and not a movie that would just continue on if I was watching or no but it was just that good.
I felt with the characters along the way. There were so many ups and downs, mostly downs though and there were quite a few tears spilled to be honest. I was happy on how the author ended it, obviously not perfect since the seven seals were broken and so many lives were lost, but in the grande scheme of things that is where you ended up. This is what happens when "shit hits the fan". But in the end, I did feel settled.
I know there is a spin of that follows Clark after this series ends, but I am not sure I am ready to read this yet. I feel like I ran a marathon and need to recover from all of this and settle. It is definitely an interesting take on how it would or could all end and it was interesting to read how this author thought it all through. It sure makes you wonder ......
First let me say that I love when an author knows when a story should end. Are there still questions and stories I want answered from the End of Days series? Sure, but I appreciate the fact that I may never know those stories and may never have those answers. It’s okay that I don’t have them. There’s a particular magic that forever remains a part of a series when an author does not write it into the ground. I’m glad that Meg let us keep the magic.
I had to take a break from the book to get myself in order. I mean seriously, some major stuff happened that pulled me emotionally all over the place. To be merely mortal, Collett wrote Michaela with such ethereal grace and knowledge befitting her status as a the General of Heaven. There were times all through this series that I couldn’t find myself on the same page as Michaela because her reasoning was above what I could justify. That being said, she did what she had always said she would do: protect Heaven. I loved that she put her duty as the General (and ultimate protector) of Heaven above her own happiness.
Now to the men in her life…Gabriel. I loved his love for Michaela. And him being all super bad ass now? I’ll take that too. However, I will say that I used to love Gabriel the most. I think that has waned in favor of someone less in competition for her romantic affections than Gabriel. Yes, I’m talking about Loki. The sads. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll just say this: I really, really liked the way Loki was written and I appreciate his storyline as well.
Clark…What can we not say about Clark? Sometimes I want to shake him because he’s being a little prat, other times I want to smother him in awesome hugs because he’s growing up into something resembling a responsible adult. Overall, Clark has remained mostly Clark. Of course he grew, the thing with Sophia being one of the biggest reasons for that growth.
In closing, I want to touch on the battle that has been brewing since The Hunted One. Over the course of the series we’ve gotten touches of battles that were, in their own way, real battles worthy of an angel. I was hoping for something more climatic and very “end of days-ish”, but of course what I was wanted would not work with what Michaela was trying to accomplish. She wanted peace, that was her goal and that meant, in a moment where she could kill, she turned to forgiveness and flipped the tables worthy of her role as General of Heaven. If I had written it, I would have killed everyone and the book would have been a mess. Just more evidence that Collett knows better than me what her characters should and shouldn’t be doing. The final battle is what it should have been and Michaela acted as an angel should. Bravo for her!
When it’s all said and done, I am honored to have a chance to read this series. It was a well-thought out and well-executed series with all the details that one could ask for in a story of Angels and a possible End of Days.
**I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.**
What an epic finale to an epic series, like the second instalment I am lost for words. I can't possibly write a review that would give this the amount of justice and deserve it truly is rewarded, but I will give it a go.
The end is upon them and there is only one way to do it - that's fight
The biggest battles are yet to come.
New sacrifices must be made in order to win the war.
I felt like I was right there fighting with the gang: Michaela, Clark, Gabriel, The Archangels and The Fallen, supposed enemies coming together as one, overcoming their past to fight in a battle that they are all gleaning towards, they all want to end result - Heaven restored.
Micheala is an amazing heroine..I love her strength and her compassion it's what makes her the perfect General of Heaven, But it's them qualities of hers that caused her down fall. This book shows how Micheala redeems herself not only in her own eyes but in Heavens eyes.
Loki , The Angel Of Death, literally had the weight of the world on his shoulders. This man broke my heart, especially at the end.
One mistake may have caused a thousand consequences but One heart mended it all
Gabriel and Michaela's relationship grows stronger in the midst of chaos, but how long with their happiness last?
Clark is trying to recover and learn his place in the world. His magic is growing at a rapid pace but is it enough to help those he still cares about?
Will the sacrifices be too great to win Heaven back?
But Meg Collett has written a truly unique and epic story and managed to tie it up nicely. Her writing is so beautiful and vivid which only adds to the already wonderful story line. I loved the ending where Meg gives you a little hint as to how Clark might find his slice of happiness - I shall be keeping my beedy eyes out for this....
The feelings that emanate from your very being when you read Collett's End of Days series are the exact reasons why I adore reading so much in the first place. Collett's books are pure love, and pure magic.
I am honoured to have had a chance to read this series. It was a well-thought out and well-executed series with all the details that one could ask for in a story of Angels and a possible End of Days.
The gift of forgiveness and sacrifice is beautiful.
Meg Collett pulls you into this wonderful world where the end of days are nearing and all this horrible stuff is happening. She has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are there with the characters going through everything they are. My heart ached so much in this book ( especially for Loki probably should have for other characters but I adored Loki). I was experiencing all the bittersweet happiness that they did.
So much is sacrificed in this war and the story is just perfect. Everything all the characters had to do for the sake of getting heaven back to those who deserve it was heartbreaking. This book had me not wanting to put it down,at times trying to read as fast as possible to find out what happens and other times about to throw my kindle at frustration for some of the choices that was made. The conclusion was superb. I could of sworn at the end I was going to start crying ( not a normal thing for me to do when reading)
I really enjoyed this series. It seems like it would be a straight out bad vs good but it wasn't it was about acceptance, love, forgiveness. It was all about the grey area. The doing what is right even if it might be wrong. The characters were amazingly written and had such great individual personalities. I'll be honest I didn't think I'd like this series when I started the first book but it really pulled me in towards the end and the rest of the series kept a strong hold and I couldn't wait to read them.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes books about angels and anyone who likes romance. I've read books that were romance books before but this one seriously was one of the most lovingly romantic book I've ever read and not just in terms of Michaela and Gabriel's relationship but the friendships that grew between the characters and especially Michaela and Clarks friendship.
Simply breathtaking, truly astonishing…and utterly magnificent. The Only One is the perfect conclusion to this emotional, heartbreaking series and clearly shows the meaning of love and sacrifice.
The conflict that the characters struggle through, from the loss of loved ones to physical battles, to coming to terms with ultimate sacrifice-it will draw you in, break your heart, give you hope, fill you with despair…and once you’re done, leave you with a huge book hangover that you will be happy to have. That’s right-you’ll be an emotional mess and love it.
Throughout this series, Meg Collett has totally sucked me into this world filled with angels fighting for heaven and so much more. Her writing is virtually flawless, and she’s crafted a wonderfully elaborate realm, characters that you embrace regardless of what side they are on (well, except for Abel…I abhorred him as I’m sure was her intent).
The Only One focuses on the final battles in the campaign to take heaven back from Abel, and also on the continuing passionate story between Michaela and Gabriel. Michaela keeps fighting for what is right, even when others may not think how she goes about it is the way it should be done. She is willing to make the greatest sacrifices to save Heaven, Earth, and those she loves. And to watch the emotion between her and Gabriel, especially as things escalate to the final climactic events…it will rip you apart, playing havoc with your feelings and leaving you totally spent once you read “the end”.
5 spectacular, awe-inspiring stars for The Only One, and this series has attained a permanent spot in my top recommendations. If you are a fan of angel stories, paranormal, romance, or even just love a thrilling read built on pure emotion, then you’ll want to add this entire series to your TBR list immediately. I’m thrilled that we get to read even more from this world with the upcoming Days of New series-because I sure can’t get enough of this world.
I hated to see this series end. I've fallen in love with all of the characters. The hot and protective Gabriel, the strong and iron-willed Michaela, and the always hilarious Clark. I love them all. But Meg Collett has written a truly unique and epic story and managed to tie it up nicely. Her writing is so beautiful and vivid which only adds to the already wonderful story line. I hope to see this series explode with attention. I don't do spoilers, but I will say that I was on the edge of my seat throughout this entire read. Michaela discovers something that would cower most people, but she remains strong and true, fighting for a place she no longer belongs. Why? Because it's the right thing to do. She would give it all to save Heaven and Gabriel would do anything to stop her. There is so much love in this story and sacrifice. This story touches on the true bond between best friends, the connection between soul mates, and drives home how costly it can be to do what is right. I also enjoyed Loki's point of view. He's been a forgotten soldier through out the series and we finally see what the centuries or eternity of living without choice has done to him. Please read this series. You will not regret it. Bravo Ms. Collett and I look forward to reading more of you work in the future.
In book 3 of the continuing saga of Michaela the once fallen General of the archangels and the gate keeper to heaven as she continues her fight to save Heaven while hiding on Earth. She struggles to do what is right despite the consequences which might lead to her own death.
Knowing the love of her life Gabriel became a fallen angel for her and that he sold his soul to Lucifer in order to save her life. And now he has become the ruler of Hell because of Lucifer death. Gabriel would sacrifice everything for her but she does not want his involvement.
It all comes down to the ultimate battle where it all started Heaven. It comes down to the battle between Abel who runs Aethere and seeks the power of the Seven Seals which she possesses as the General and who has caused her downfall and Michaela. It is the ultimate showdown that will not only affect not only Heaven but Hell, Purgatory and Earth.
I found the story to be heartbreaking at times even to the point of tears and I rarely cry at books even in sad parts. I felt Michaela pain and anguish knowing that she had to make difficult choices despite others. Knowing deep down her and Gabriel love would not be enough.
Michaela has been fighting to repair Heaven since that fateful day she left the gates open and was framed by Abel. Abel’s tyranny of Heaven and its holy angels has reached new proportions. Gabriel has now become the leader of Hell’s army after Lucifer’s demise at the hands of Clark. Clark struggles with his new abilities and the weight of what will be asked of him because of them. Iris has seen the end of the war and it is beautiful and grim at the same time. Michaela makes the final decision to turn herself in and finally end the war in hopes that life will be restored to what it once was not only in Heaven and Earth but everywhere. Her fate is all but sealed there have been visions of her death and she makes peace with that knowing that if she must die she will at least die restoring the balance. What transpires in this book is beyond words. To see Michaela struggle to do what is right and ask Clark to assist her even though she knows it will break everyone’s hearts. To watch Gabriel suffer more than he ever has even when he was a prisoner in hell. To watch the majestic transformation that takes place when one person decides to put the welfare of many before her own is truly awe inspiring. The best part is at the end but you will have to read it to find out!
What an awesome, amazing, twisted, spicy ending!!! I love remembering back to book one of this series The Hunted One. The book was great but I could tell as an avid reader that it was Meg Collett"s first book but I could also tell the potential was very well present that this writer would get better by the book! This series has continued to keep me wanting more and more with each installation. The story continued seamlessly with this last book. I have grown to love the characters like friends of my own. Clark is one that you will not find in any other books. Michaela is a strong, bad ass heroin with a good heart. The love story and hot steamyness between Michaela and Gabriel will make any reader melt. As Meg Collette weaves us through the final chapters of this war for control of the Archangels precious heaven, she sprinkles in some action, mystery, sex, deceit, curves, and tears. The ending is shocking unexpected and has a bit of a cliffhanger! BUT not the kind of cliffhanger you cringe away from. More of a stepping stone to maybe a spin off?? I see a possible continuation of some of these awesome characters and I like it!!!
After the first two books I couldn’t wait to dive right into book three. This is the final installment in the End of Days series and I was sad to see it end. Don’t miss out on this great adventure of sacrifice, friendship, and love.
With the help of the fallen army, will Michaela succeed in the war with the holy angles? Jump in and find where the battle lines are drawn and what Michaela, Gabriel, Clark and the others are willing to do in their part of the war. The story weaves its way into your heart and the characters such you in from day one.
These amazing books are meant to be read in order. I really enjoyed this series from start to finish. See just how much each of them is willing to sacrifice for friendship, love, and each person’s own heaven. You won’t want to miss this ending. Thanks for another amazing read Meg Collett. Good luck with everything past, present, future.
WOW! This book was an epic. I can't believe this book has come to an end. I saw Michaela as broken angel and how she grew up to strong leader again was incredible..How her relationship progressed with everyone. Especially Gabriel. Their love touched my heart and I have been pinning for them since the start. Everything on stack..Earth,Heaven,Hell. Now Michaela is The Only one who can save everything. This book has kept me guessing from start till end. near end it literally stopped my breath. Clark added funny elements in the book which I really liked and loved. But sorry Clark My heart is with Gabriel <3 You got to read this book. If you love Paranormal, romance, angels. I bet you will love it :)
Awesome ending to a stressful series! Knowing that the end had to come, didn't make picking this book up any easier. Nothing has gone the way the Michaela needed things to go to right the wrong she perceived she had done. My heart was pulling for Michaela to save the day but after everything that she had been through, my mind was convinced she would fail. As a reader, I as swept up in the End of Days just as quickly as the first book and the second. I'm not sure what kind of ending that I was expecting, I guess anything at this point. I can say that I wasn't upset with it and I came to terms with the completion of the book. I don't give spoilers, so that's the best you'll get from me! Do yourself a favor, click buy!!
The BEST One! Every emotion you can feel will be screaming at you by the time you finish this book! I only thought I was prepared. Seriously!?! I don't like to give out spoilers, so just know that everything you thought true will be put to the test. We fly on high as Michaela accepts her destiny leading this war only to later plummet back to earth. I laughed so hard at Clark's smart aleck remarks, reveled in Gabriel & Michaela's escapades, tensed when the battles began, & never even saw the tears coming. Regardless they broke through like a bursting dam, completely unstoppable. The Only One is undoubtedly the most intense of this series, & I hereby dub thee The BEST One!
I am not ready for this series to be over!! Meg Collett grabbed me with the first book and didn't let go until the end! The Only One is the final battle for Heaven and what a battle it turns out to be! I must admit, I was on a roller coaster ride of emotion. There were times that I just wanted to throw the Kindle against the wall or cried until I couldn't see the words. Meg wove the story and kept me in until the end! I'm really hoping we get more! I loved this series!! I'm not ready to let go!!
I have one word for this book......WOW!!! It was an amazing ending to an absolutely fantastic series of books. The story was an exciting, edge of your seat, oh my god how will it end journey that just wouldn't let me put it down. Gabriel, Michaela and of course the awesome Clark were all as spectacular as I had come to expect. There is a rumour we may get more Clark.....yes, yes, yes pleeeeassse!! The only downside was that this was the end of a series that wormed it's way into my heart. Loved the book, loved the series, love this writer.
The End of Days series by Meg Collett is a fabulous trilogy about what would happen if the world were end due to two angels falling in love. Each book in the series gets better with each book, and The Only One is by far my favourite in the trilogy. I just love the descriptions the author uses to describe Michaela falling in love. There is also an awesome nightclub scene - a nightclub for Watchers! It is brilliantly written and i recommend it to fans of the genre. 5/5
Excellent ending to the series! Everything finally comes to a head for Michaela and the final battle to save heaven has come. That battle is brutal and painful and comes at a price but Michaela finally knows what she needs to do. The end definitely threw a few more surprises at me and it was wonderful to see the characters find where they needed to be and grow into their potential. It was a pleasure to read and in my opinion absolutely recommended.
