Butterflies? Levi Bailey does not get butterflies. Well, at least he didn't until Meredith Porter spilled coffee all over him.
Meredith has plans. Big plans. She is done being safely wrapped in bubble wrap. She is ready to live. That's what her list is all about—living and experiencing. Is it fate that her list of learning, trying, and experiencing continues to bring her into the path of grumpy Levi Bailey? She isn't sure—but she doesn't mind. Levi is just a misunderstood cinnamon roll and Meredith plans to enjoy every second of helping him realize that.
Levi's life has a routine. He's been running it for years. Go to work, care for Mom, watch over the siblings. If he's lucky, he'll get to play with his niece Alice before his head hits the pillow at night. It may sound boring, but it's worked for years. Why mess with a good thing?
Only… it's not that great. Now that his mother isn't sick and his siblings are grown, they don't really need him. Where does that leave Levi? It would seem in the hands of quirky, unpredictable Meredith Porter and her list. This girl is too young and too innocent for the likes of Levi. He has no business taking her to yoga or teaching her to ride a bike.
He certainly has no business falling for the twenty-three-year-old who has pretty much been living under a rock her entire life. Yep… no business at all, and yet there are a million butterflies disturbing his insides, telling him to kiss the girl, to give this thing with Meredith a chance. Telling him that maybe, just maybe, he is worthy of affection from someone as good and pure as Meredith.
Then again, what do dumb ol' butterflies know anyway?
I was craving something lighthearted and sweet, and this book found me at exactly the right time. Meredith is a character I’d typically struggle with. Despite her being 23 and insisting she’s not immature, I beg to differ (her befriending a 13-year-old was a bit too strange for me). But considering how sheltered she’d been her entire life by her grieving father, I warmed up to her socially awkward quirks. She had such a joyful personality, always up for an adventure, and never ashamed of who she is.
And then there’s Levi Bailey! He’s a bike shop manager, deeply devoted to his family, fiercely protective, and very resistant to the butterflies he feels whenever Meredith is around. With six years between them, he has little patience for her antics and overly friendly personality. I loved watching his grumpy side soften as he reluctantly helps Meredith learn to ride a bike—one of the 23 items on her bucket list. And naturally, as they complete more items on the list, they eventually check off the most important one: falling in love.
"It's not every day someone gives you butterflies, Levi Bailey. That means something."
Meredith (23) is a quirky, sheltered woman who wants to try things she's never done before. She has her own list and 23 things on it. She's been living with his uncle for the last five months and is determined to experience new adventures in her life.
Levi (29) is a grumpy bike store manager. He's serious and in a scowling mood most of the time, but he's also sweet and protective of the people he cares about. There's nothing he wouldn't do for them, and I'm really impressed by that side of him.
This was a cute romance, and I honestly enjoyed it. I love Mer's sincerity and naivety, but mostly how she's just herself all the time. She wears her heart on her sleeve and never lets her fears stop her from trying things out. Between the MCs, I love her the most. There's just something about her honesty and sunshine that pulls people in and makes them feel comfortable with her. She doesn't pretend and is always genuine, being quirky and curious most of the time.
As for Levi, he's a bit hard on himself and thinks he's not good enough for Mer. He thinks they're opposite in so many ways, yet despite that fact, they're really perfect for each other. Admittedly, he's a dumbass in this story, but he's a lovable, protective dumbass. I liked him, but the constant doubting of himself, the push and pull with Mer, and how much he's so concerned with their six-year age gap are making me like him less and less.
Then, because he's a big dumbass, he pushed her away again, which led to their breakup. Is that even a breakup when they're not together in the first place? Anyway, his reasons are that he's scared, isn't good enough, and that Mer deserves someone better. Then he let three weeks pass without doing anything to fix what he had done.
Had it not been for his sister's intervention, nothing would've happened between these two. They would probably be miserable apart because Mer's done going after him, and Levi hasn't even made any attempts to see her. Then they had the most bland reconciliation ever, and Mer was so forgiving and took him back quickly.
Anyway, this was really good for the most part; I would've rated it a 4 star, but then the third-act conflict ruined it and the giddy mood I was feeling, hence the 3 star rating. Imo, that doesn't have to happen at all in this book. I would've loved this if Levi had been brave enough to admit what he wanted and go for it.
Overall, I still enjoyed it and had me looking forward to reading Owen's book.

𝕡𝕝𝕠𝕥 🧡: this is such a cute idea for a book, so i had to pick this up! but, some things on her list seemed...odd. our FMC is 23 (or 24?) and she never had coffee in her life?! and same thing w/ riding a bike, 𝙒𝙃𝘼𝙏?!😬 also, the romance between mer and levi felt rlly insta-lovey...and that's NOT my thing. 😅 and...there was a third-act breakup...𝙇𝙊𝙑𝙀𝙇𝙔! (no, no it is not 😭)
𝕔𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤 ✨: meredith 🍪 ➺ she's 23 years old and she acted like a teen...or a child! 😒 and tbh, her backstory rlly didn't make sense, like how did ur dad not let u experience normal teen things, like going to junior high? ☹

“Meredith is everything good in the world, and I want all of her. I want her light and joy and goodness all for myself.”
Meredith is all sunshine, goodness, and beauty, and she gives broody Levi butterflies and other deep feelings. He may want her more than anything else, but he also wants her to have the best, which he is sure is not him.
Oh my goodness! I read this book with heart eyes and a permanent smile on my face. It’s sweet, funny, and full of golden nuggets of wisdom. I am completely smitten with Levi and Meredith, and I just loved everything about this book!
Meredith has been kept in a protective bubble by her father, and at age 23 decides she really wants to live and experience life. She makes a list of 23 experiences she’s missed out on—one for each year of her life.
Her excitement and bravery as she faces each one of these was so wonderful! Her innocence, guileless purity, and joy just radiated from the pages, and made me wish she was a real person that could be my bff.
While accomplishing something on her list, she has a meet-cute with Levi. After getting to know more about her, he wants to help her fulfill her list, including item number 5. 💋🥰

Levi Bailey Has Butterflies is a book that feels like a big hug, and one that I highly recommend!
It’s the first book in a new spinoff series by Jen, and I cannot wait for the next brother’s story!
Another fun, clean and sweet romantic comedy! This one checks all the boxes. The characters are opposite in every way. Levi is cautious and quiet whereas Meredith wants to try all the new things! The bike shop setting is fresh and unique. This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the previous series. I got confused on the timeline and birth order of the siblings but not enough to leave off a star. I will be hitting up this author’s backlist! 4 1/2 stars!
This book was so adorable! Meredith was a breath of fresh air. I loved her joyful approach to life and learning new things. She was the perfect compliment to grumpy Levi. But he was also protective and loyal. I loved watching them fall for each other. A big part of this book revolved around a list of goals Meredith makes for herself. I adored how important her list became to Levi as he helped her achieve some of her goals.
This was such an endearing story of enjoying life and being open to love. It was a joy to read, and I can't wait to read more in the series.
This was my first Jen Atkinson book and I really enjoyed it! A super sweet, dual POV, grumpy/sunshine, age gap romance that sees 23 year old Meredith looking to live a little for the first time in her life. She even has a list of 23 things to try to get her out of her shell, two of which is trying coffee and learning to ride a bike. Enter grumpy Levi Bailey who literally bumps into Meredith and then finds himself helping her learn to ride a bike.
Despite attraction on both sides, Levi tries to resist the butterfly feelings he has for Meredith, believing she deserves someone better. The book has a great cast of side characters (including Coco, Levi's half sister who has her own book, Insta Family) and is full of heart, humor and a strong female character who knows her mind! I can't wait to read more of the Bailey brothers' stories soon.
Highly recommended for fans of authors like Jenny Proctor or Juliana Smith and perfect for anyone looking for a lovely feel-good romance! I voluntarily read and reviewed an early copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
This is such a sweet romance between Levi Bailey and Meredith Porter. Meredith has been sheltered all of her 23 years of life. She now has a list of 23 things she has never done and wants to check them off. Her original meet with Levi was not so cute, but memorable. LOL She then wants to learn how to ride a bike which takes her to the bicycle shop he manages.
Levi is 29 years old and hasn't done much for himself. Ever. He has been the protector/helper of his family, and he tries to take this role with Meredith, too. He is the constant grump to her sunshine, but he just can't not be drawn to Meredith's light.
I loved Meredith's constant optimism. She fell off her bike and needed stitches but was determined to learn and not afraid to fall again. Everything she did was exciting, and she was just what Levi needed. He was just too afraid that he wasn't good enough for her and too old for her.
I loved seeing returning characters. Coco and especially Alice!
Thank you to the author for an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh the list was just the cutest thing! I really enjoyed seeing Meredith grow and become so bold and courageous. Not just surviving, but living!
If there was a quote for this book it would be “I believe, every day, you should have at least one exquisite moment." - Audrey Hepburn
Now I kinda want to write a list and make sure I really experience life!
Levi was a great character. And I loved seeing him come to life as well. Become his own person and not just “protector”.
I really enjoyed the large, loud, and loving Bailey family. They were so much fun together! And I loved Meredith & her Uncle Bob. Their conversations were some of my favorites!
There were some sections that were a bit repetitive and I did start to notice them and they pulled me out of the story a little bit. But the further I got into the story the more I just wanted to be with the characters more so I ended up really enjoying it overall.
3.75/5 stars
*I received this book from the author**All opinions are my own*
I absolutely love Jen Atkinson’s rom-coms and this grumpy to sunshine romance was just the cutest!
Meredith has been sheltered and protected her whole life and now that she is 23 she is ready to fully experience life and try things she has always wanted to do. When she meets Levi, who owns a bike shop, she needs his help to cross one more thing off her list, but she may be falling in love in the process. Levi has always been protective, taking care of his siblings, and his mom while she was sick. He is drawn to Merdith's light and cheerful personality, but she is six years younger than him. He doesn’t believe he is good enough for her but at the same time he can’t seem to stay away.
I need to start by saying I absolutely loved Meredith's list of 23 right at the beginning of the book. It's her list of new things she wishes to experience to fully enjoy her life. In fact I was so inspired I started my own list of 23. I found this book to be a beautiful story of fully living and finding happiness along with the romance. There were some great nuggets of wisdom throughout. Both Levi and Meredith are finding themselves, Meredith because she is young and has been sheltered her whole life and Levi because he has always been a caretaker putting everyone else before himself. I loved how Meredith was sweet and innocent, yet she was so courageous in not being afraid to try new things and challenging Levi to do the same. I enjoyed getting to visit with Coco, Jude, and especially little Alice again. Jen is so good at writing endearing characters that feel like friends. This book is funny, sweet, and kind of like getting a warm hug in your happy place. I loved everything about it!
Favorite Moments: •The meet cute or not so meet cute 😆 •Baking Cookies •Levi memorizing Meredith's list •Dancing together in the park • All that kissing • Uncle Bob and his wisdom • The triple date
This is the first book in a new spinoff series. I am so excited to get the next brother's story. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This story was adorable! Sheltered Meredith is out living life and working to complete a list of 23 things she wants to accomplish now that she is 23 years old. I loved the way she looked at life, her bubbly attitude, and the way she experienced things. Of course, I felt these things with her and at one point in the book, my heart felt broken alongside her.
Now, Levi was such a great guy and a perfect fit for Meredith. They complemented each other in so many ways. But he was very caught up in the fact that he was six years older than her and felt like he just couldn't measure up to her sweet spirit. So, a lot of the tension and strife and heartbreak was due to his inability to see his own worth. But, I couldn't help really liking him anyway. He just needed a lot of help and guidance from his family in order to realize what was right in front of him.
These two had great chemistry and I loved getting to know the Bailey family. There were so many fun moments in this novel. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I plan to continue reading the books in this series and also to go back and read the book in which Coco, the Bailey Brothers' sister, makes her appearance.
I wanted to love this book so much. But I just didn’t. For the first half, our MFC Meredith acted like a child and some of the things she decided to do would probably come off stalkerish. And then our MMC Levi, was so grumpy, that he gave me the ick throughout the whole book. He also talked constantly about how he was so “old” but then whined and complained like a five year old throughout 90% of the book. And don’t even get me started on the stunt he pulled at the end of the book. If a guy did that in real life, I don’t know a girl who would want him again. We also really didn’t get a lot of backstory on Meredith’s life and I would’ve liked to know what it was like to be that sheltered and how it’s affecting her adult life. This book was less than 300 pages and took me five days to read. I want to try some other books by this author because I did like the side characters and style of writing. But unfortunately this one just missed the mark.
The was such a cute read, like my heart swooned. No steam, no spice, but love all through the story. It was perfect, except the whole time I'm like Levi, get your head out of your butt. It would be considered a slow burn, grumpy/sunshine, age gap romance. It was perfect after so many spicy reads and it hit me right in the feels. The whole Bailey family just pulls you in and now I can't wait till Owen's book!!
awww this was so cute! i loved it from the beginning. meredith was such an optimistic girl and she was quirky and different but in the best way. she was so bold, and we always knew what she was thinking. levi is such a protective, grumpy, cinnamon roll mmc and he was so good to meredith, except when he was a flat out dummy. it was so fun to watch them slowly fall for each other and then fall in love. i was completely immersed and never bored with the story. i thoroughly enjoyed this book, and i will certainly read it again!
grumpy/sunshine x protective mmc x quirky fmc x age gap x opposites attract x dual pov
Levi Bailey has Butterflies @authorjenatkinson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 🫑 kisses only
Have you met the Bailey brothers yet?! Im not sure I can pick a fave! Levi Bailey Has Butterflies was the perfect amount of grumpy sunshine, unexpected love, and fighting for what you want. Throw in a perfect little age gap and it’s *chefs kiss*. I highly recommend this entire interconnected standalone series!
4.5 stars! I truly loved this book! It was such a sweet and light-hearted read. I loved the dynamic personalities of Levi and Meredith. They were complete opposites in every way, but they worked perfectly together. I loved how brave, fearless, optimistic, and bold Meredith was. She was so dang cute and so fun to read about. I loved Levi’s true grumpiness, but inside he was just soft, sweet and protective. Jen did such a great job writing this book. I was totally immersed and picked it up every chance I got. I loved the side characters as well. I know Coco and Jude have their own book which I need to go back and read now! This was my first by Jen Atkinson and it won’t be my last. So cute, and I highly recommend. Thank you for the eARC!
Tropes: -Grumpy/Sunshine -Opposites Attract -Protective cinnamon roll MMC -Small age gap (6 years) -Dual POVs
With Cooper’s book coming out soon, I decided I should probably acquaint myself with the Baileys 😄 Wow! Did they ever not disappoint! I loved this book and positively ate it up 😆 Now I just need to read the next two books! . . . It’s official…I absolutely ADORE Meredith! She was beyond hilarious with her pure innocence and naivety 🤭 I almost lost it when she tried her first sip of coffee, and then when she complimented Levi’s eyebrows, I died 😂 Her blatant admiration of Levi was endlessly amusing! I’ve never read a book with a character quite like her before and I LOVED it! Meredith’s obsession with dresses was positively darling and it was so fun watching Levi slowly become obsessed with her in dresses too 😏
Levi Bailey was dead set on one thing: he does NOT get butterflies, especially not around a certain blonde haired beauty! Spoiler alert: he was definitely lying to himself 😉 Meredith and Levi may have gotten off to a rocky start, but that sure didn’t stop the avalanche of feelings that threatened to take over Levi’s heart whenever she was around. And things only went from bad to worse when he was asked to teach her how to ride a bike 🤭
Ughhhh…these two were so perfect for each other 🥹 Levi was literally the biggest sweetheart on the inside, once you got past all of his gruffness, and Meredith, of course, could win over anybody with her heart of gold! Once he was finally brave enough to let down all of his barriers and inhibitions, Levi could finally see what had been in front of him all along: a literal jewel of a woman, perfect for him in every way ❤️
Top Moments: 🦋 Spitting coffee 🦋 “Fetching eyebrows” 🦋 Befriending Nikki 🦋 Bike riding lesson 🦋 Making cookies 🦋 Tandem biking 🦋 Waking up Levi 🦋 Piggyback ride 🦋 Playing football 🦋 Slow dancing 🦋 Butterflies 🦋 Alice 🤭 🦋 Number 5 🦋 Triple date
Levi Bailey Has Butterflies is the first book I have read by Jen Atkinson, but it will not be the last. The audiobook releases on the 27th, with narrators Rachel L. Jacobs and Oliver Clarke. It should be a fun read or listen :)
I absolutely adored Meredith! Her and Levi together were perfection. From their hilarious meet-cute, continued run-ins, his family, and hers, it was a fabulous story.

This one brought out all kinds of feels and I have already started the second book, Owen Bailey Needs Advice, because I was NOT ready for the story to end!
This is a spinoff from InstaFamily where we get to see Coco’s brothers’ stories. It is a sweet read for the most part. I loved Meredith’s innocence and determination to live. Levi is an idiot for a lot of the book. Jealousy or making people jealous is one of my least favorite tropes in books and his behavior on the group date was incredibly immature and off-putting (kida put out the “if I can’t have her no one can have her” vibe). That said, I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the brothers’ stories.
Loved this first book in the Another Bailey Brother series! This book is a delight. I enjoyed the grumpy/sunshine romance and all the family banter!
Meredith is unlike any character that I've read before and I love her for all her unique, quirky, full living personality. Her focus on experiencing life was so fun and I loved her list. She sees the world in such a positive, hopeful way. Nothing seems to get her down -- not stitches or salty cookies or the difficulties of learning to ride a bike. Seeing her fall for Levi was a delight. I loved how she connects with him when he seems so closed off. Her bubbly personality was so fun and I was cheering for her from the first time we meet her and she spits out her first taste of coffee.
Levi is Meredith's opposite in many ways and the most delightful grump. Underneath his prickly exterior is a cinnamon roll of a man who loves deeply and fiercely. I loved how easily Meredith gets under his skin and how he quickly feels a pull and clear attraction for her. They are such a fun couple with fantastic chemistry and seriously swoony kisses. What drove me crazy is how hard Levi tried to justify not being with Meredith. While he obviously cares for her and wants to protect her from their first meeting, his determination that he isn't the right man for her was frustrating. So glad he had all his meddling family members to smack him on the head and show him how perfect he and Meredith are together.
This is such a fun beginning to this series. I can't wait to get to know all the Bailey brothers!
I think I was just as annoyed with Meredith as Levi was in the beginning, but I fell in love with her character as fast as Levi fell in love with her.
She is kind, sincere, & isn't afraid to make a new friend. I loved how easy everyone liked her, but especially Nikki 😭 Nikki really needed Meredith's friendship. I believe Meredith pulled her out of a spiral that could've had a very different outcome had they not met.
Levi is a grumpy, protective guy. He is a family man & is used to having everyone depend on him. Meredith really just swooped into his life & brought him so much joy.
I've love meddling old people in other books I've read, but a meddling older sister was so much fun here. Her conspiring to make Levi jealous was so funny.
The only reason this didn't get 5⭐️ was because I really felt like we, as readers, needed to see that reunion with Meredith's dad. That was such a huge factor in the book that he was in therapy & I just wanted to meet him other than that one phone call & see his progress through Meredith's perspective.

If you love a sweet grump x sunshine romance with all the small-town charm and slow-burn feels, this book is everything. Levi Bailey doesn’t do butterflies—or surprises—but quirky, determined Meredith Porter changes all that the second she crashes (literally) into his life with a coffee cup and a bucket list.
Meredith is on a mission to live boldly, to say yes to experiences she’s always missed out on—and Levi? He’s the steady, guarded guy who’s used to taking care of everyone but himself. Watching them grow, connect, and fall (reluctantly and adorably) in love as they check off her “23 List” was the highlight of my week.
Levi is the kind of grumpy you can’t help but love—soft on the inside, always putting others first, and clearly not prepared for someone like Meredith to turn his world upside down. And Meredith? She’s brave, hopeful, and exactly the kind of person who helps others believe in second chances.
This book had me giggling, swooning, and tearing up more than once. I’m fully in love with the Bailey brothers (seriously, how do you pick a favorite?), but Levi has firmly claimed his spot in my heart.
✨ A heartwarming, clean romance that’s equal parts funny, tender, and full of butterfly moments.
🦋 Tropes you'll love: — Grumpy x Sunshine — Found family vibes — Small-town charm — Age gap — Slow burn + all the heart flutter
This book has the funniest meet cute! Meredith Porter has a list of 23 things she wants to experience, since she is 23. Meredith orders her first cup of coffee from McDonald’s and promptly spits it out all over Levi Bailey. I was laughing so hard. I instantly adored Meredith. She’s genuine, kind and sweet and someone I’d want in my corner. I was very intrigued with her and her list of 23 things. As her story progresses, we are able to see why she is doing this. Levi feels lost. His mom is doing better, his siblings are grown. He is a protector and has a hard time accepting this bright, young girl in his life. This book is so funny. Happiness seeps from its pages. I highlighted many phrases that I just thought were so perfect for each character. I loved seeing Lucy, Alice, Coco and Jude again. Alice is just my favorite! This book is the perfect grumpy/sunshine, older guy, protector romcom.
I received an ebook from the author. All views and opinions expressed are my own.
CONTENT -🤬: none -❤️: make outs -⚠️: parental abandonment (past), parental loss (past),
I loved this audiobook! The narrators really brought the characters to life and endeared me to them. I thought Meredith was such a fun, unique character. Having been so very sheltered, she has an enthusiasm for trying and experiencing new things! She had such a sunshiny personality. I loved it. Levi was a grump, but I felt like there was a reason for that, and he didn't act like a jerk for the whole book. Sometimes I dislike the grumpy/sunshine trope because the man is rude for so much of the story.
It was so fun to get to know all the members of the Bailey family. I'm really looking forward to the other stories in the series (though I won't get to them for a while because they're not on Hoopla or Libby and I'm on a book-buying ban until March 31st).
Favorite Quote: "Fear is just a chance to be brave."
Oh, how I love reading a book that involves lots of bicycling. And set in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to boot. Double thumbs up.
Meredith has such a fun-loving personality. You can not help but fall in love with her. Except Levi. He fights that love. Super cute book. Super fun family. I can't wait to read the other books in this series.
Here are some quotes I liked:
Telling an anxious man: don’t stress is the same as telling a laboring woman: don’t give birth.
“To truly be happy, we have to suffer.”
“It’s true. If my dad hadn’t loved my mother so much, it wouldn’t have hurt to lose her. The pain was only so great because the love was great. I am not afraid to suffer.” I shake my head, feeling every ounce of those words. “I am not afraid to fall or to be burned. If I let fear guide my every step then, sure, I’ll save myself a few bumps and bruises, but I’m also going to miss out on everything good life has to offer. I think the joy is worth the pain. It has to be. I am only afraid of never having lived.”
I was in from the first chapter. The way Jen writes is just brilliant. The first few chapters are pure, heartwarming comedy and made me laugh out loud so many times.
I love the character of Meredith. I love how fearless she is and how she just says whatever she's thinking without embarrassment. She's just unashamedly and obliviously herself! And I think we all need to be a bit more Meredith!
If you love a good grumpy v sunshine, this delivers by the bucketload! It is fast becoming a favourite trope for me. Meredith is pure sunshine and Levi is the grumpiest grump. It's so sweet watching his frosty exterior be slowly bashed to pieces by sweet Meredith.
Needless to say I loved this book so much. It is one I will remember and recommend for sure!
