Award-winning investigative reporter Cassandra McAllister is finally taking a break. Especially after her latest exposé. Now all she wants is to enjoy her time soaking up the sun on the beach, steps away from her private Jamaican villa. Her mysterious, yet extremely sexy neighbor is a great distraction, and she plans to make him one of her methods of relaxation.
RJ Campbell’s attraction to Cassandra is strong from the first moment he lays eyes on her. But when their lips touch for the first time, he knows he’s a goner. But RJ is harboring a secret that once it’s revealed, could potentially destroy the feelings growing between him and Cassandra.
Can these two overcome the secrets and issues they have and build a lasting relationship? Or will their time together be nothing more than an island rendezvous?
Cassandra is a reporter who writes an article about a man and his family that used unscrupulous business practices to con her grandparents out of some property when they were just getting started building their dreams. Ryan is the grandson of the man the article is written about and he thinks the article is a lie and sets out to avenge his family’s name. In order to get close to Cassandra, Ryan lies about his identity. It turns out Cassandra’s article is true and while he is digging for answers they fall in love. This book has one of my least favorite romance tropes. The false identity, lying, and manipulation does not appeal to me at all.
I am giving this book 3 stars, because even though I dislike this trope, Te’ Russ’ writing is good. This is the 4th of Té Russ’ books that I have read in addition to 2 recently released shorts. It took me 6 months to read this book, because while it is well written and cute, it is very formulaic. All of these books are running together. The editing errors in this book were especially distracting compare to the other books. I am going to try to push through and read the rest of the McCallister series and then take a break from reading her books. I am hoping the 6 months that have passed since I read the other book and the fact that my least favorite trope has already been used will enable me to get through them quickly.
Before you judge a person get the facts first. RJ thought I’d was all a lie about his grandfather, but as time went on he feel in love with the Cassy who knew the truth about his grandfather. RJ didn’t want to see the truth at first but came around and he also feel in love with . Amazing love story you will enjoy though all the ups and downs
This story was a treat and did not disappoint. The author has penned a story of love, joy, forgiveness, and steam. That gave life to these characters, so in love with RJ and Cassy
Another good GUILTY PLEASURE read. Basically I am consumed with these characters, their work lives, personal lives & this whole series of 📚. I would recommend them for pure relaxation.
The smooth writing style and no grammar errors made this a pleasant read. The standard issues of the genre are handled and the ending satisfies. No pregnancy made it a better read.
What can I say this was a sweet love story I enjoyed how two “shrewd operators “ didn’t see love coming. Cassandra and RJ were almost to smart for their own good. Love always wins in the end ☺️
If you can forgive quite a few typos I think you'll enjoy "Just One Kiss". I love the way all of this author's stories connect in a series. Good "down time" read.
I’m so glad my sister introduced me to Te Russ! I have been looking for books about positive black love and these books are everything I’ve wanted and been looking for!
Often there is more than meets the eye. We find that with Cassy and RJ. Family loyalties are tested and is the deciding factor that brings Cassy and RJ together. However as faith would have it, secrets and lies threaten to keep the couple apart. We are taking on this journey, and see how good intentions and vengeance pan out. Cassy and RJ had a roller coaster on their hands, but loved conquered and despite their differences they were able to forgive. Forgiveness is keep and I believe Te Russ did a good job of writing Cassy and RJ's story.
Great story! Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. I stayed up late reading it and I was disappointed that I had to go to bed before I could finish the story. So I woke up earlier to finish it and it was worth it. Oh my! I love the McAllister Family.
The story is nice, however very similar to the first book (the McAllister Family book 1), the characters in both books are not looking for love, end up finding someone by chance, and weeks later are madly in love and getting married within the next month. Would have given it five stars but there's no originality.
I liked the second book even more than the first one. RJ wasn’t supposed to want her, and she didn’t know who he really was, but that didn’t keep them from finding love with each other. And RJ wow, he was hot and the chemistry between him and Cassandra even hotter! Really loving this series….
