This is a book that expands upon the lore of the video game Nier and to a lesser degree the associated games Drakengard and Nier Automata. It's full of facts and backstories but the most interesting part are the short stories, these were fascinating and provided a lot more information about the characters from the game. As to be expected with anything relating to Yoko Taro the stories were wonderfully depressing - aligning with the tone and themes of the game perfectly. There is also heaps of art throughout the book, all of which is stunning and impressive. This is a must for fans of Nier, it is in Japanese but some hardworking fans have provided easily accessible translations online.
If you love Nier as much as I do, you’ll enjoy this a lot. The short stories included in this are excellent and really help to further develop the world of the game.
I normally would not mark these because art books have minimal texts compared to...well, normal books, but I had to read a 100 page PDF document translated from Japanese for this one dangit!
Lots of cool lore, developer commentary, art, and behind the scenes like you would expect from the better artbooks out there. Still fairly affordable and worth a pick up even in Japanese, if you're a big fan of Taro's universe or Nier in particular.
