MY MYSTERY SERIES: #1 THE PUZZLE is (FREE) #2 WITHOUT ANY WARNING #3, 86 AVENUE DU GOULET #4 A LETHAL TIME #5 MOUTH OF THE RAT #6 DEATH KNELL IN THE ALPS #7 NO HOPE IN NEW HOPE & MEMOIR:THE RIVIERA IS BURNING ★★★★★ (LIMITED TIME: SUMMER SPECIAL ON SERIES) ***This romantic rendezvous to New Hope was too convenient. We’re staying with who? No B&B? So in spite of my cagey, fine-looking gumshoe, Clay, and this unexpected invite from friends of his, I’m skeptical. Of course, I’m suspicious of just about everything to begin with: hence the mystery novelist in me constantly stumbling into situations that didn’t necessarily serve my best interests. Would this be one of those occasions?
Peggy's Genre is COZY MYSTERIES. She's the author of 19 books: 17 mysteries in the Samantha Jamison Series, one memoir - The Riviera Is Burning, and one contemporary romance - Caché, Caché. She loves writing, both non-fiction and fiction, and revealing the truth—or her version of it. (And yes, many incidents in her books did happen—she’s just not admitting which ones! ...chuckle) #18 COMING DEC. 1
After raising her family, Peggy published her first mystery novel, The Puzzle. The setting was based on her log home in Highlands, North Carolina, where she sat on the back porch and plotted, wondering how a young widow would react after the mysterious, unsolved death of her husband. Would she ignore what she was being told, or pursue it on her own? Peggy soon discovered she loved writing mysteries from the first-person point of view, and the Samantha Jamison series was born.
Peggy has traveled the world, from Europe to Asia, even at one point owning a villa on the French Riviera, which played well into two of her books: her memoir, The Riviera Is Burning, and book three of her Samantha Jamison mystery series, 86 Avenue du Goulet. She resides in Florida.
Samantha Jamison is back at it again with her detective skills. Jamison is off on yet another crazy romantic outing and having to watch her back along the way. While trying to keep her new relationship afloat, she soon finds herself on the run trying to escape a killer who thinks she has a priceless painting. This action-packed novel is filled with numerous twists and turns making it a fun read for mystery lovers. Edelheit also writes with a great style which will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what happens next in the story. There’s always something new going on which adds to the excitement of the mystery, something which is vital in this genre. The book is packed not only with an intriguing and suspenseful mystery for you to figure out, but humor, adventure, and suspense. At 143 pages, it’s not necessarily that long of a read so you can easily spend a day or so on it.
No Hope In New Hope(A Samantha Jamison Mystery #7) by Peggy A. Edelheit is another fun mystery featuring mystery writer, Samantha Jamison. She often finds herself in difficult situations, and this time it's not different. Her usual bunch of older girlfriends, Martha, Hazel and Betty are always ready to help Sam solve the mystery. The interplay between the characters is great as they try to figure out what is happening at the art gallery. No Hope in New Hope is yet another great Samantha Jamison novel by Peggy A. Edelheit! These quirky fun mysteries often have me laughing out loud at the crazy situations Sam, Clay and the crew get themselves into! The stories always have a crazy twist that keeps you guessing on who is really the bad guy. They are always fast paced and keep me turning pages and interesting. No Hope in New Hope is no different than the rest in that manner! Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down until I found out who was the culprit, and of course it was who I least expected it to be. In this story Sam and crew are unknowingly helping friends of Clays who own an art gallery to find out who is trying to ruin their gallery business. As always, it was a fun ride along with Sam, Clay and crew to solve a whole new and exciting mystery!
I was really looking forward to the time when I could get another book by the talented author Peggy A. Edelheit, because I was impressed with the book “The Lush Life”, which I read recently. Now I would like to share the impression of “No Hope In New Hope”. In the main role is my favorite character Samantha Jamison with her boyfriend Clay. They get into new adventures and investigate new riddles, and it will be connected with the art gallery. In this book, you can find romance, riddles and interesting solutions to them, since Samantha is a private investigator and writer. Her whole life consists of finding answers to many questions. It is interesting to follow the rapid development of events. My interest increased with each page. I highly recommend everyone to read this collection of stories, you won't regret. For me, it helps me to relax and I will continue reading for sure.
No Hope In New Hope by Peggy A. Edelheit is a hilariously witty mystery novel. Samantha is at it again, getting tangled unravelling a crime. Clay invites Sam over as he housesits for his art gallery friends who are away; thinking it would be a romantic getaway. What ensues is clients complaining and Samantha at the end of the gunpoint. An amazing adventure which will flabbergast, laugh, and leave you in the midst of a crime mystery.
The author is creative, and she knows how to make characters come to life. The storyline is superb, and it will make you keep wanting for more. I enjoyed every page and really loved the chemistry between Sam and Clay. I adore Samantha's character, her full of life disposition and her thirst for a good mystery. I highly recommend it; everyone will just love it.
This is the seventh outing for Samantha Jamison, a murder mystery writer who is also a super -sleuth. Her fictional books are based on the real life events that she finds herself caught up in. If you are not familiar with the other books it won’t matter – each one stands alone. I find them a very easy read. The writer uses the technique (favoured by authors like James Patterson) of having short pithy chapters with each one ending on a cliff-hanger. It is dialogue rather than plot driven. I find this style a little too breathy for me. I prefer a style of writing where the story develops more gradually. That said, the book is well-written in its genre and has a plot which keeps you guessing.
I’m a long-time fan of Peggy Edelheit and perhaps I can’t be objective at all, but let me say that she never disappoints me. The story drew me in as soon as I read the first pages because the writing style is almost perfect. The narrative is captivating, the plot is developed in order and creates intrigue all the time; she had me guessing right down to the end. The intertwining lives of the characters and their unique personalities give the book an interesting spin. They’re described with enough faults to make them feel real and it’s very easy to empathize with each one. As for the mystery itself, it was a bit more astonishing than in the previous installments, which shows the huge growth of the author.
For those who are new to Samantha Jamison, welcome this is a great story you will really enjoy and for those who are regulars, this is another fun filled adventure for Sam and company. This journey takes Sam and her boyfriend Clay on a simple house sitting gig that turns into a mysterious discovery and an art museum as well. The characters are well developed and fun to follow and the journey is always exciting and will pull you in and keep you guessing. This so one of my favorite series. Check it out and let me know what you think. You won't be disappointed.
Another light-hearted mystery read from Peggy Edelheit! I love the humor in her stories, especially the banter between the three older women and also between Samantha and her boyfriend Clay. The characters are thrust into the odd happenings surrounding an art gallery, a missing painting and some surprises. The plot is well-paced and there are a few twists that caught me off guard. The book reads well as a stand alone if you haven't read any of the others in the series. These books have some super-sleuthing, great friendships, suspense, and action in them. They tend to stray away from the darker, creepy vibes for an upbeat, entertaining mystery. They are well-written and very enjoyable!
This is not my first book from Peggy Edelheit or her character Samantha Jamison. I've read Without Any Warning and got totally hooked with the way Edelheit writes, the mystery and suspense are the main characteristics of these books, a resource she well knows how to exploit.
At this time, we find Sam getting into the art world when Clay is asked to take care of a gallery, but pretty soon things start getting complicated when she's held at gunpoint by a member of New Jersey's most violent Mafia. Being totally unprepared for this situation, she will have to find a way to untangle this issue and get at the bottom of it! I really liked this novel and for this reason I recommend reading it.
So...if you've got a fun witty female sleuth, a handsome boyfriend, and a group of feisty old ladies looking after an art gallery that keeps getting broken into...what have you got? It's really simple--Another terrific Peggy Edelheit mystery! I've read several of Ms. Edelheit's books and have enjoyed each one--she has a real flair for humor and great situations to put her muse, Samantha Jamison into. Quick witted and entertaining throughout, No Hope in New Hope will keep you turning pages and whet your appetite for another Edelheit adventure for sure! 5 STARS!
Great Mystery! The plot was really well written, although all of Samantha Jaminson stories are good and have a common theme of Sam being surrounded by trouble where ever she goes. The author has the skill to create a mystery plot with humor and add a twist of romance and change settings to make it interesting for readers. In this plot, Sam has come to stay in luxury apartment but when she was left alone, she smelled fishy things in the apartment and there she goes on the journey of locating crime and solving it. A great story!
I just finished reading No Hope In New Hope (Samantha Jamison Mystery Book 7) by Peggy A. Edelheit. I have been with this series since the beginning of the mystery series, and I was very excited to pick up with the book series and read more about the adventures of the beautiful, spunky, and entertaining Samnatha Jamison, and her friend that is a great supporting character. The interactions between them are always hysterical.
She is an author constantly having these adventures that are inspiration for her own works of fiction. Its a new and refreshing way to tell a story, and it works for the author Peggy Edelheit very well.
This book is about Samantha and her friend having to babysit an art gallery while a friend is away. Someone keeps breaking into the art gallery and they do not actually take anything, which is the set up for an extremely funny and entertaining mystery novel. The back and forth between Samantha and Clay is hilarious, as always.
I give this book 5 Stars. It has engaging three dimensional characters and a humourous plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning the pages in anticipation of more. It is a great book series to get into for anyone who enjoys a good entertaining mystery.
New Hope, PA is the setting of this, the 7th book in the Samantha Jamison Mystery series. Samantha and her boyfriend, Clay, are in New Hope to help Clay’s friends manage their art gallery business. Clay may even purchase the business if he likes it. But no sooner do they hit town and strangers are coming up to them asking for refunds and hinting around about fraudulent sales of artwork. When Samantha’s senior citizen posse arrives to help out, things get really serious. Questions start popping up everywhere. Is Anne, the art restorer, creating forgeries in her spare time? Is there a mob connection to all the treats being made to Samantha and her posse? Who locked them all in the garage, and will they be able to get out?!?
Ms. Edelheit spins a twisty tale of lies and deception in this little mystery. I had a lot of fun with all the quirky characters and the storyline was quite charming. This is the 7th in a series but the story was also good on its own. There is enough backstory given so that you don’t feel lost. The story moves at a quick pace which made it a fast and enjoyable read.
This book would be appropriate for teens and up and mystery lovers should really enjoy it. Alinefromabook gives “No Hope in New Hope” a THUMBS-UP recommendation.
Samantha and her crew found themselves involved in an art gallery mystery when Clay comes to New Hope to watch over a friend's gallery while out of town. It starts with customers complaining about not receiving the correct paintings. Samantha starts getting threats about a painting from a customer named Tony. Suspicious activities by employees are also thrown into mix causing the sleuths to wonder who they can trust. Mysterious break -ins keep happening and last but not least 2 people are dead.
I hadn't read any of the other books but was still able to follow along fine, it is truly a stand alone book. I truly enjoyed the quirky humor mixed with suspense. The characters are well developed and likable. The seniors had me cracking up especially when Margie pulled out the liqueur candies. I found myself quickly pulled into the story and trying to figure out who the killer is and what were he/she looking for. The story line is interesting, compelling and filled with surprises. I definitely will take the time to read the other books because I love a good mystery story. Overall good read for anyone who loves a cozy mystery filled with suspense and humor.
Written in the first person, Samantha Jamison is an author come sleuth, and here she is given the task of overseeing an art gallery while the owners are elsewhere. Needless to say, all is not what it first appears, and eventually we see a tale of art forgery and fraud. The writing style is how Samantha feels, and the reader should read the first two or three pages before purchasing, as these give a good impression of what follows as far as style goes. The plot is very simple, although the start includes some "straw man" tension scenes, and the sleuthing is more about luck than analytical deduction. I also felt that some of the scenarios are not particularly believable. One example: a person pays over a large sum of money for a painting and then is complaining that he has never received it. Um, wouldn't he pay when it was handed over? Worse, this guy is apparently mobster. He came down in the latest shower? To summarise, this is easy relaxation reading if you like the style, and had there been some structural editing this could have been a really good mystery.
No Hope in New Hope is a short, light mystery. Samantha and Clay are spending a little special time away with friends of his. And as soon as Samantha arrives, without Clay, they leave to go to London to pick up expensive art. Clay shows up hours later to announce he is making arrangements to purchase their art gallery. They find they are knee deep in a mystery of people who were sold a painting but were cheated out of it. The master mind behind this ends up being killed after being robbed. Plus a UPS driver who was sold this same piece of art. Samantha gets threatened multiple times by another art victim. It all comes to a head when Samantha finds herself walking through the dark gallery sneaking up on people lurching around in the back. She is confronted by the gallery’s owners who stayed in town to apprehend the thief. At the end Samantha has the story for her new mystery.
