**This story was first published in the All I Want holiday romance anthology**
When a postcard meant for Kenzie winds up in Ty's mailbox, Ty's faced with a decision. Should he tell her that her fiancé is breaking up with her and let it ruin her favorite holiday, or should he do what he's wanted to do since he met her - make a move and hope that he can win her over before she discovers there won't be a wedding after all?
A USA Today bestselling author of clean romance, Rachael Anderson is the mother of four and is pretty good at breaking up fights, or at least sending guilty parties to their rooms. She can't sing, doesn't dance, and despises tragedies. But she recently figured out how yeast works and can now make homemade bread, which she is really good at eating.
I read this a couple years ago when it was released as part of an anthology and loved it. Last night I was in the mood for something cute, clean and Christmassy and saw this on my Kindle. I started rereading and remembered exactly why I loved it so much.
Twist of Fate is a novella about 100 pages long. Short enough to read in one sitting but long enough to let you fall in love with the characters and feel satisfied by the end of this fun story.
Highly recommend to anyone in the mood for a fun squeaky clean Christmas romance.
This story had such a fun premise and I'm a sucker for guys with a secret crush. The characters and scenes are great and it was a sweet romance and entertaining read.
This was my second time reading Twist of Fate, but the first was when it was included in the All I Want Anthology. I didn't realize I had already read it until I got through the first couple of chapters and recognized that the heroine's first name was almost the exact copy of the hero's last name. I remembered it being a really fun and sweet story and so I didn't mind reading it again.
I pretty much swallowed this one up. I loved how Ty tried to work through Kenzie's resolve and get her to fall in love with him even though she was supposedly engaged to someone else, someone Ty felt didn't deserve her. I loved Ty's eccentric mother. She added some conflict and livened up the story a little. I also loved Kenzie's family and their knowing looks. My favorite part would have to be towards the end when Ty desperately tries to rectify things with Kenzie. It was sweet, fun, and lovely. This one definitely made me melt. Twist of Fate was an enjoyable Christmas romance that I'll be reading again.

Yay! I was excited when I saw this today. This novella was originally published in the All I Want holiday anthology and was my favorite of that collection. Ty accidently received a postcard for Kenzie in his mailbox, from her boyfriend who is dumping her. He has always liked Kenzie and wants to date her and now has a decision to make about what to do with the postcard. This was a fun holiday read, although it can be enjoyed any time. I really enjoyed the characters and plot. Highly recommend, like any of Rachael's books!
This was a cute quick read. Had some fun elements that made for a quirky, fun Christmas story. It was a perfect length for a short story with good character development and a complete story.
I love Christmas stories with all the festivities, lights, hot chocolate, snow, cutting down Christmas trees, fireplace and stories of romance. This story fits the bill!
The story is light, sweet, romantic and has a hint of family issues that we all have. Lately, the stories out there are dark and are just too full of language and sex that I am going crazy and need stories like this one.
It is so cute to have a story with two people who have the same name but in opposite order; Tyler McKenzie and Mackenzie Tyler! They live exactly a floor apart. Their mail gets mixed up often and that is how they started to get to know each other. Then they became best friends. Ty always felt more for her but Kenzie was off limits since she was engaged to someone else in Madagascar.
Ty gets a postcard meant for Kenzie one day from her fiancé! It was a breakup note. Ty kept it for now to see if he could get her to fall for him and keep her holiday happier. Ty has a big formal event for work and Kenzie volunteers to go with him since he seems to avoid everything. When they go and see each other in their formal attire, sparks fly and Kenzie doesn’t know what to do with these feelings she is having for Ty. She doesn’t act on it and she starts to back away. Now what do they do? And Ty still has to give the postcard to Kenzie.
The only thing I didn't like was that I wanted more of them!
You have to read it to find out yourself because it is a sweet happy uplifting story that leaves you smiling and sighing at the end!
If you are looking for something to get you in the mood for Christmas, here it is, all wrapped up in 100 pages!
If you love meddling mothers, fun Christmas activities, homemade hot chocolate, third grade teachers, computer programmers, then this book might be for you!
Friends to loves? Check! Heartwarming romance during the winter season in time for Hallmark Christmas Movie season? Check! Adorable Geeky hero? Check!
How much do I love this novella? SO much! Kenzie and Ty played off each other so well that you couldn't help root for them to get together. Ty is adorably geeky and even though he bored Kenzie's elementary class to near tears, I loved how passionate he was about software programming, to the point that he made a reference later on in relation to how he got to Kenzie's heart. SO awesome. I liked that Kenzie was hesitant to break things off with her fiance and even when she started having feelings toward Ty, she wanted to be faithful and honorable. Both characters were likable with awesome chemistry. I found myself smiling at the end when they got together.
There's also an interesting subplot involving Ty's estranged mother which not only makes this a story about love but also about forgiveness and compromise. If you're in the mood for a wonderful heartwarming story, do yourself a favor and pick up Twist of Fate to read with your hot cocoa. I'm a bonafide fan of Rachael Anderson now. After adding her works to my TBR list, I'm glad I started with this one and can't wait to read more of her other books as well as the other All I want Holiday Romance anthology books. I highly recommend this read!
Twist of Fate was such an awesome holiday read. Rachael Anderson did a great job with this story. I connected with both of her main characters and had a real interest in their lives. I loved how both of their names were similar only flip flopped. The guy's name is Tyler McKenzie and the girl's name is Mackenzie Tyler. I thought that was really cute and different. Not only do they both have similar names, but they live in the same apartment building, where their mail gets mixed up frequently.
Tyler has real feelings for Kenzie and has since he moved into the building. Only problem is, she's engaged to be married, so Tyler is stuck in the friend zone. Kenzie's fiance is in Madagascar but sends a postcard meant for Kenzie telling her he can't marry her because he met someone else. Tyler intercepts the postcard and decides to wait until Christmas is over to give Kenzie the bad news. This is also the perfect time, to see if he can win Kenzie's heart.
This is a really sweet read that will leave you with a satisfied smile on your face. I will definitely be checking out the rest of Rachael Anderson's books.
I received an ebook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review....and honestly, this book is fantastic and I will be re-reading it again.
*A copy of this book was given to me in exchange of an honest review*
I really enjoyed this novella! Even tho I was meant to read only scary books this month, I couldn't resist reading this one.
This is the story of Tyler McKenzie and Mackenzie Tyler (I totally loved that they had the same name, only 'flip-flopped'), they both live in the same apartment complex and sometimes their mail gets mixed up. Ty has always liked Kenzie but can do anything about it since she is engaged. Everything changes when one day Ty accidently receives a postcard for Kenzie from her fiancé, who is in Madagascar and is also dumping her. Now, Ty has to decide if he's going to tell her about the postcard and ruin her Christmas or hide it from her.
I really liked Ty. I thought he was very sweet. And Kenzie was adorable. This novella was really cute and funny. I would recommend it to anyone!
I also enjoyed liked Rachael' writing and I will definitely check her other works.
(I'm really bad a this review thingy so please be patient with me lol)
This is a delightful romantic comedy. Ms. Anderson has an enjoyable writing style. She develops likable, believable characters. Mackenzie Tyler lives just one floor above Tyler McKenzie. Although Mackenzie is engaged and in a long -distance relationship, she and Tyler develop a great friendship. When the mail carrier mixes up some of their mail, the conflict begins. Mackenzie intercepts a letter from Tyler’s mom and accidentally reads it. When Tyler finds out about the letter, he asks Mackenzie to just throw it away unread. Mackenzie invites Tylers’ mother to come for a pre-holiday visit and Tyler hits the roof. Tyler intercepts a postcard from Mackenzies’ beloved and the “games” begin. As Christmas approaches, along with the date her fiancé is to return, Tyler becomes somewhat of a Grinch and Mackenzie takes it upon herself to get Tyler into the Christmas spirit. If you like light romantic comedies, this is a great one.
***I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. The above opinion is solely my own.
Wow! What a heartwarming novella. I enjoyed every minute of it. Ty (Tyler McKenzie) and Kenzie (McKenzie Tyler) live in the same apartment complex. The mailman keeps mixing up their mail because of their names being similar and their apartment numbers are also similar #102 and #201. So that is how the two of them meet. Ty falls for Kenzie right away but finds out she is engaged to be married to Brad. Brad is over in Madagascar helping the less fortunate. One day he sends Kenzie a postcard breaking up with her because he found someone else. Kenzie thinks he is on his way home so they can get married. Of course the postcard ends up in Ty's mailbox. Ty decides he does not want to run Kenzie's Christmas and he keeps the postcard hoping he can win her over. Will Ty be able to win Kenzie's heart or will he lose her to Brad? Read the book today to find out how this all ends. You will not be sorry.
a very enjoyable romance novella....but then I can't think of anything I didn't like by Rachael Anderson!
I thought it was an interesting twist to give the two main characters the same name but in reverse. It made for a great twist as to how they met and the fun times they probably had getting to know each other, especially with the mix up in their mail.
Even though it is a novella, the story is well written and does not leave you wondering if anything more could have been included.
I loved this novella! It was funny.. It was sweet.. It had me caring for the characters either cheering or bopping myself on the head for their actions. While the story happens to take place in part during the holidays, I would not label it as a holiday book. The story can be enjoyed all year long.
This was an adorable read. I loved the way the season played into it. I loved Ty's mom. The play on names was perfect. Any romantic at heart will love this short, fun Christmas novella.
Super cute Christmas novella! I love this author! She has a way of putting a smile on your face! I love how Ty threw caution to the wind- and tried. That's for you Lisa!!
It certainly is cute that neighbors have names that are opposite each other, like Mackenzie Tyler and Tyler Mackenzie did but not a lot of forethought when they end up engaged. Mackenzie Mackenzie? Really, that's truly awful!
Otherwise this as an ok if not extremely sweet novella.
I received an ebook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! And I must say, I ADORED it!
This is my first Rachel Anderson book, and I was not disappointed. Not to mention, Christmas/Holiday stories are one of my favorite types to read, and I tend to hold them to a higher standard than most because of this. This book was a joy from start to finish!
Ty and Kenzie are wonderful characters, and from the moment the book starts with them meeting in the hall I wanted them to end up together. Kenzie is such a wonderful girl, full of cheer, happiness and smiles. Ty is a very down to earth kinda guy, reserved but kind. Plus, I love their full names - such a cute idea!
How Ty feels about Kenzie was so sweet, but he knows he can't act on his feelings since Kenzie is engaged and soon to be married. And after accidentally receiving a postcard that was meant for Kenzie, revealing that her fiance has met someone else and is breaking the engagement, he knows he can finally act and see if Kenzie could fall for him. And his attempts to woo her are just so adorable. Of course, drama must happen that I can't talk about due to spoilers, but this story is so interesting and the dynamics are so believable, and I love the family involvement that's added in as well. And the struggles both characters go through, along with their thoughts and feelings, just pull you in.
I also want to give a shout out to how the author leads us through the story. It's very episodic and I like it that way, it goes well with the story. She gives us the important details, when we need it, and doesn't have any fillers. Each chapter goes by a date, and gets closer to Christmas as it goes along. She doesn't give us boring parts, she goes straight to their interactions and shows them both getting closer to each other. I really felt like their relationship progressed nicely because of this.
Anyway, I adored this book, and is now one of my favorite Christmas reads! I read through this book in one night, I couldn't put it down! And I was so bummed when I finished, I wanted to keep reading more! I totally recommended it to anyone wanting a nice holiday story that will make the romantic in you happy!
This was a nice clean secular heartwarming holiday romance novella. This was definitely a nice length (16 chapters) and didn't feel like a short story, but a true novella. The story felt complete and satisfying without the fat and filler of a full length novel.
Tyler McKenzie (hero) and Mackenzie Tyler (heroine) live in the same apartment complex and their respective mail gets mixed up by the mail carrier and put into each others boxes almost daily, because of their names and apartment numbers being so similar.
From the moment Tyler and Kenzie had their first mail mix up when he moved to Rochester from California a year ago, and pulled out a bra out of a box that was supposed to be delivered to her box and Kenzie reacted with humor instead of anger, Tyler has been in love with Kenzie. The romantic barrier? Kenzie is engaged to get married to another guy whom she has known all her life, who is on a volunteer service mission in the African island country of Madagascar. Tyler instead has to settle with having Kenzie as his best friend. Yes, this a best friends to lovers romance.
Tyler accidentally gets a postcard meant for Kenzie from her fiancee breaking up with her and canceling the wedding. Give it to her ASAP with gladness. Right? No! Tyler doesn't want this to ruin Kenzie's favorite holiday and he wants to know if Kenzie would choose Tyler for himself, not as the rebound guy she is just settling for. Tyler has not be able to make a move before cause he is faithful and honorable to his values, but now the romance begins!
I just loved the both of these two! Not only is Tyler faithful and honorable to his values, but Kenzie is the same way, making them such a match. I love the kindness, consideration, thoughtfulness, and selflessness they had for each other.
There also is a suspenseful subplot of what traumatic event has made Tyler so strictly stubbornly estranged from his mother?
I recommend this to anyone who wants a feel good heartwarming escape.
Sensuality content: Squeaky clean with sweet kisses only.
Source: Review copy in exchange for my 100% honest opinion.
Twist of Fate by Rachael Anderson is a funny heartwarming novella. The premise of the story is very clever: Tyler McKenzie and Mackenzie Tyler both live in the same apartment complex. Their mail is always being mixed up and each has received quite a few pieces of mail for the other. This leads to a few problems.
Kenzie has received mail from Ty’s mother and she tries to get Ty to contact his mother. He has broken off contact with her because she is too meddling and he cannot take it anymore. Kenzie feels that he should call her and eventually she contacts his mother and invites her to visit. Ty is not very happy about this.
Ty accidently receives a postcard from Kenzie’s fiance telling Kenzie that he has met someone else and is calling the wedding off. This is good news for Ty because he has fallen in love with Kenzie. But he knows it will be devastating news for her and will ruin her Christmas. He decides to not tell her about the postcard. He also decides he is going to do everything he can to get her to fall in love with him.
The characters are well developed and well rounded. They are the type of people you would want to be friends with. The friendship between Ty and Kenzie seems very realistic and and a good base for a future. The conflict between Ty and his mother also seems very realistic and I like the part that she played in Ty’s plan to win over Kenzie.
The writing style flows smoothly and it is an easy read. The book is very entertaining and I enjoyed the fact that it was a clean read. Since it was a novella it was short but I feel like it was complete read. Of course I would have preferred it to be a full length book because I would have liked to read more about Ty and Kenzie, because what I did read I really liked.
This is a great holiday read, but it could be read anytime of the year. If you are in the mood for a fun quick book, this is a book for you to read. I have not read any other books by this author and I look forward to reading more in the future.
This is the first book I have read by Rachael Anderson and I will certainly read more of her work in the future. This particular novella is a quick and cute read. I was given this ebook in exchange for an honest review and here it is:
Kenzie (Mackenzie Tyler of APT. 201) and Ty (Tyler McKenzie of APT. 102) are both living in the same apartment complex. Regular exchanges of mixed up mail deliveries necessitate their initial contact and a real friendship forms from there. Now that they have been best friends for almost a year and Kenzie’s absentee fiancé breaks up with her via a postcard mistakenly delivered to Ty, will this twist of fate become an opportunity to move Ty out of the friend zone?
Although I love reading, I simply adore fun romantic holiday movies and I could easily see being adapted into a holiday movie format with memorable scenes showing quirky characters, like the one where Ty is sharing a story about his meddlesome mother and
Or like the scene
To be fair, this length of a story is not my go-to reading material which is why I could only give this book four hearts. The book itself was certainly a good read however I enjoy becoming a bit more immersed in the lives of the characters over a longer period of time and so a novella is just a little too short for my personal taste which is what kept me from making this a top rating. I look forward to reading more by Rachael Anderson in the near future.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Twist of Fate is a beautiful, warm poignant Christmas novella that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy all over! The novella is about Tyler McKenzie a computer games developer and single and Mackenzie Tyler a 4th grade teacher and engaged to Brad, who is over in Madagascar. Tyler and Kenzie meet downstairs while getting their mail and are always finding the others mail in their boxes. Tyler lives in the apartment below Kenzie's apartment, they have known each other for a year and are very good friends. One day Tyler finds a postcard from Brad in his mail cancelling the wedding in the new year. Tyler does not tell Kenzie because he does not want to ruin her Christmas by giving her the postcard. What a dilemma! He decides not to give her it to let her have a good Christmas, her favorite holiday in the year!
A wonderful story that develops into a love of lifetime in a few short weeks, with just simple little things like decorating the class room, Tyler's Work Christmas Party, picking out two Christmas trees each with it's own personality to cut down and take home. All the time getting closer but Kenzie is divided in her feelings to Tyler because of Brad whom is coming home in a week. What a wonderful build up to the climax of the story, it is fascinating watching all the changes between them in Twist of Fate. Review copy in exchange for a honest review 5 Stars for a really great fun read.
I received this ebook through ebooksforreview.com in exchange for an honest review.
This novella is from the All I Want anthology. It's a sweet short love story.
The story is about two neighbors who have almost the same name: Tyler McKenzie (Ty) and Mackenzie Tyler (Kenzie). Since their names are so similar, their mail often gets mixed up. One day, Ty received by mistake a postcard from Kenzie's fiance. He's breaking up with her and won't be coming back from Madagascar. Since Ty has always had a crush on Kenzie, he thinks it's his chance to make a move. So he decides not the tell Kenzie about the letter (so it wouldn't ruin her Christmas) and tries to find out if she also has feelings for him.
This Holiday romance is so sweet. It's sad because Kenzie feels very bad about falling for Ty (since she doesn't know her marriage is off). But at the same time, Ty thinks he's doing the right thing: he doesn't want Kenzie to be heartbroken during her favorite holiday.
In the end, this book shows very accurately how everything isn't always black and white. There is so much grey in life. Sometimes it seems like no options is best for everyone. The characters try their best to do what seems right to them, but all their actions aren't perceived as right by the other characters. They learn in the end that they need to forgive to move on in their life and be happy!
I received this book in exchange of an honest review.
Mackenzie Tyler is happiest person ever, she is a third grade teacher who loved the holidays and is engaged to marry in less than two months, even if her boyfriend Brad is in Madagascar and won't arrive until a month before the big day.
Tyler McKenzie is computer programmer, successful and attractive but kind of a grinch. He is also Kenzie's best friend and happens to live in the apartment directly beneath hers.
But with flip-flopped names, getting the mail isn't easy, but who cares, they're used to it, is how they become friends in the first place. Only this time when Ty gets Kenzie mail, it happens to be a postcard from Brad breaking up with her. Now Ty has a difficult choice give, the postcard to Kenzie and ruin her Christmas or keep it to himself and take the chance to finally win her heart.
I love Christmas and Christmas books and contemporary romance and short stories and this wasn't the exception.
First I enjoy the characters so much, there where few but more than enough and they were believable which I love. The hole story was perfect for me, it was very real; places, situations, emotions, feelings things thah can actually happen, and that often happen.
The writting style of the author is really easy going and enjoyable and it gets you right in the story along with the characters.
Twist of Fate was a sweet, romantic holiday read. It is perfect to get you into the Christmas spirit! The book is about Tyler McKenzie and MacKenzie Tyler, two people with the same name who live in the same complex with similar apartment numbers. Ty, has always had feelings for Kenzie but due to her engagement, he has never admitted his feelings for her. Ty and Kenzie's mail always gets mixed up (probably due to a lazy mailman) but one day Ty mistakingly recieves a postcard from Kenzie's fiance.
Ty has to decide what to do with this postcard. He debates whether he should tell Kenzie or not. Ty decides not to ruin Christmas for Kenzie, since it is her favorite holiday. Ty is also determined to win Kenzie's heart one way or another. Kenzie on the other hand is unaware of her breakup and has mixed feelings about her and Ty's relationship.
Twist of Fate is a must read for those looking for the perfect holiday novella. It is a quick, one-sitting read. If you plan on reading this book, grab a cup of hot chocolate, a blanket and sit by the fireplace while you enjoy reading this sweet and romantic story.
Tyler McKenzie and Mackenzie Tyler live in the same apartment building with exactly one floor between them. Their beloved mailman is constantly mixing up their mail.
Ty has been in love with Kenzie for awhile but there is something standing in his way... her fiance! So when Ty received Kenzie's postcard from her fiance calling off their wedding he has a decision to make. Does he give it to her and take a chance of it ruining her favorite holiday?! Or does he keep it to himself and try to win her heart?!
And while all that is going on Kenzie has a little planning of her own to do. Ty has been estranged from his mother for a long time and really doesn’t want to have anything to do with her… ever. But because of our beloved mailman, Kenzie receives a letter to Ty from his mom and decides that she is going to invite her for a little visit. All I can say is… let the games begin! ;) Hehe.
If you are looking for a cute, fun, quick read that will have you sighing dreamily and leave a smile on your face then Twist of Fate is just what the doctor ordered! So what are you waiting for?! Go grab a copy and read… you won’t be disappointed… I promise!! ;)
What a great, quick read! I have read a few of Rachel Anderson's books & thoroughly enjoyed them.I was happy to note that Twist of Fate is no exception. Heartwarming & surprisingly developed characters for a novella. The story unfolded quickly but didn't feel too rushed & you still get that great realistic romance. I enjoyed the humor mixed throughout. The realistic moments, that they are honest with each other. The holidays are coming up and it was great timing because it has even helped me get more into the holiday spirit! Easily finished in an afternoon (I finished in a little over an hour)If you are looking for a fun little story, for a bit of feel good romance & a dose of holiday cheer, this is a great fit. I highly recommend any of Rachael's novels if you are looking for a great read.
*A side note on how I rate books. I'm conservative in my ratings. I rarely give 5 stars. That is reserved for books that have made a significant impact on me. I read profusely and only a handful have made the list. *A copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review
