Wow what a great book! I think this is every woman’s fantasy right here. Jake & Elena are a perfectly happy married couple who want to spice things up. This book has everything….MFM, billionaire, workplace, voyeurism, spice, blackmail, revenge and everything in between. This is a debut novel and was so on point. The emotions and feelings involved, the chemistry, the scenes. Perfection!

DNF at 60%. This book is just not for me. I don’t understand all the five-star reviews. Jake is a horrible husband. Yes, he says big and beautiful words, but that’s all.
For a couple who has been married for three years, I didn’t feel any love—only sexual chemistry. All day long, he thinks about how sexy she is, how everywhere they go, all eyes are on her. All the men fall head over heels just from a glimpse of her—the femme fatale who doesn’t even realize she is one.
So the next logical step?
To allow her to sleep with another man to show the world what they're missing?
But what kind of husband is that? When she has problems at work, he dismisses them because he’s not ashamed of their sex life. But what about her? Does he even realize the repercussions? No. He’s his own boss, so who would care if the truth came out? But for her, she could lose all her credibility. Everyone who meets her will judge her.
He knows that she has a colleague who suspects her, and there’s even a bit of desire on his part, but Jake just ignores it—because apparently everything can be solved by giving a woman some flowers.
What kind of husband is he, that he doesn’t see the stress his wife is under because she’s being blackmailed?
What kind of relationship do they have if she feels like all the burdens fall solely on her?
Elena needs to learn how to say NO, to stop trying to please everyone, and to speak the truth without mincing her words. How is she supposed to be a badass at work when she lets Matt take the lead every time and twist the narrative in his favor?
The scene in the office made me sick. That’s what made me close the book.

Ummmm, Ms Wick - this was f’ing phenomenal! So much more than I could have dreamed up!
From page one I loved what Jake and Elena had - love, trust, protection, and a hot as heck love life….
Then you go and add Christian - Oh. Em. Gee!!!!!
I wanted to take out a hit on that sh!tty, excuse for a man Matt, but the twists and turns in their story, along with the growth of the main characters was *chef’s kiss*!!!
Loved, loved, LOVED! Give me more of this and I will DEVOUR it!

Debut novel? No way! This was written so damn well, it's hard to believe this is your first release!
What a phenomenal read!
Jake and Elena's relationship is just pure goals. Then add in Christian, and it's literally living a dream!
Aside from the heat (which was so good), the story absolutely had me hooked and has easily made one of my top reads this year!

When I started reading "The Secrets We Hide," I wasn't sure what to expect, but every page turned out to be a pleasant surprise!
It offered a different perspective on a relationship characterized by mutual respect. The way Elena and Jake supported each other, cherished each other, and fulfilled each other's needs was heartwarming.
The emotional depth and understanding presented a refreshing change from my usual reads. Jake seems like my kind of man, and Christian Ford is just ““wow.”
I enjoyed the main characters, their banter, and “daddy Maverick”— as I’m calling him, cracked me up. He is the perfect best friend.
Around 40-50%, my emotions were all over the place – feeling sad, angry, and anxious, which led to some intense reading moments. (See TW’s.)
Luckily, the story concluded perfectly! The writing was exceptional, allowing me to empathize with Elena's feelings. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it!

Wooooooah that book was 🔥🔥🥵🥵
I just read Berlin’s new book Lettuce Turnip the Beet which was a MMFM reverse harem book. I really enjoyed what she did in a very short book. So I was intrigued by the other three books she has out. The Secrets We Hide is the first book in the Balance of Power series but also her first book.
For this being her first book I have to say she did a really solid job. The story and progression was done really well. The whole concept behind a husbands fantasy of watching his wife with another man is a tough one to take in, but she did a really awesome job with it. It dived straight into it but what I really appreciated was yes this was VERY smutty but there was an actual storyline interwoven within the spice. There was surprises and of course a really horrible awful cunt character that was the villain and creating problems for the 3 MCs.
The relationship dynamic between Jake and Elena was great but Elena had some issues with sharing her struggles and thoughts with her husband. While not something uncommon I did think it slightly brought down the story just because she struggled with proper communication. Christian was a great MC and went along with everything thrown at him in the story. I did find for a big chunk Jake got a tad sidelined in the story and I was like Jesus girl go to your husband lmao. But it didn’t ruin the fun I had with this book. Can’t wait to continue the series as it follows Jake’s college buddies.

The fantasy jar is exactly what it sounds like, they each wrote down their own fantasies that maybe they were to nervous or scared to tell each other and they put them in a jar and when one picks one out...they have to fulfill their partners fantasy.
𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐤 from Jake's fantasy jar, and when she picked up the piece of folded paper and opened it up it said 𝓌𝒶𝓉𝒸𝒽 𝓂𝓎 𝓌𝒾𝒻𝑒. They end up going to a really nice bar to live out this fantasy. Jake takes a seat in the back and watches Elena talk to this tall and handsome guy and this is when everything changes.
𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐮𝐲 that she's dealing with feeling guilty because she's only been attracted to her husband and feeling sexy because she also likes this guys attention on her. She meets Chris and they have a great time at the bar that she ends up taking that first step and kissing him. Chris is so consumed with Elena that he takes her to the club part of the bar so he can have more of her. They end up hooking up in a dark corner in the club and it was the hottest thing to read. Elena isn't sure how to feel because she just hooked up with Chris and he's not her husband, but she also liked it because she knows Jake is somewhere watching.....and she learns to really love that.
𝐀 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐠𝐨 𝐛𝐲 and when Elena heads to work, her coworker Matt tells her he got an appointment with the CEO of a company and it would be a huge deal for them to get him as a client. Matt only thinks of himself, he wants this client because he knows it would get him a promotion. He's a narcissist and a bully and he's horrible to Elena. Their boss tells Matt to bring Elena to this meeting (Matt hates that but agrees) and when they walk into this beautiful building and into the conference room to meet the CEO the LAST thing or the last person Elena expects to see is Chris......the man she hooked up at the bar.....is actually Christian...CEO...and potentially her new boss. What a mess.
𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐃 to see the same beautiful girl he met at the bar and couldn't stop thinking about standing in his office right now. Elena pretends she doesn't know him because, well she's married and Christian doesn't know that and she doesn't want rumors to start. When Elena goes to talk about why they should hire them, Matt cuts her off every chance he gets. Christian can't stand it so he kicks Matt out and tells him he never wants to see him again. Little did he know, by doing that just unleashed how crazy Matt really is.
𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 in this story. I honestly thought it was just going to be a fun time, which it was don't get me wrong but I was in LOVE with this revenge side plot that Berlin put in here. We got to see exactly how psycho Matt really was and why he hated Christian so bad. There was so many questions and I was not expecting the way it was going. Well done.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐇𝐎𝐓! The scenes with just Jake and Elena or Elena and Christian were perfection BUT the scenes with Jake, Elena AND Christian???????? Mind blowing. I think it made the scenes even better because I loved their relationship dynamic. Jake and Christian each brought something different to the relationship with Elena and I love watching their relationship grow into something special. It went from just a fantasy...a hook up in bar to something beautiful. I felt happy when they were happy, I was sad when each of them were going through something and honestly I was freaked out because again I had no idea what Matt was going to do next.
𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 another 200 pages about these characters and I would have ZERO complaints. I can't wait to add this book on to my shelf so I could go back and re live some special moments between these three. I absolutely love Jake, Christian and Elena and it would be so cool to have like an extra epilogue. Will they have kids? How's living together going? What did their friends say?

This is TMI. But who TF cares. I was reading this and got so hot and bothered I had to read a chapter to my husband.
This book is FANTASTIC.
It's spicy. But done so well. I didn't expect to love this as much as I did. But it was by far a top read of the year for me 💙🫣💙

Hold the phone! I'm still shocked this book is a debut!!! No way!! You really need to add this baby to your TBR because it's going to rock your socks off. The writing of this story was ON POINT! There was nothing drab about it, it was all pure talent and I'm so glad I came across it!
We meet Jake and Elena, a gorgeous married couple who adore each other dearly. They're looking for something more and oh, Jake likes to watch. With that line said, you get the gist of where this book is headed and yes-oh-yes, does it go exactly where you want it to go! It gives you all the feels, all the wants and everything you hoped this book to be. Christian is another character that we meet and he ticks all the boxes of what they're after in their new adventure.
Berlin was very clever in giving you just enough of a description of each character. Rather than telling me what Jake and Christian looked like, she showed me; just enough to make up my own opinion and spin from there. Hence, everyone will appeal to these hot AF men because of her clever writing. The spice in this book was so realistic, it was just crazy! Super spicy, super loving and intimate. It was quite a ride.
Jake (the husband) adored Elena so much. He was a rock in this book for her; giving her love and patience, giving her free rain on her sexual desires and also supporting her workload at work. While I feel this is very much Elena's story, Jake was just gorgeous in this book.
Shared POV, ending in a gorgeous HEA that was just fantastic overall. I adored it immensely and I can't rave enough about it!! Sure I can go more into detail with this review but I don't want to spoil it for you. Trust me when I say you will NEED this on your bookshelf!!

what a wild ride this was.
Books like these are out of my comfort zone and while I shared the teasers and felt like I had an idea of what was to come, this story still managed to shock me. Did I know what voyeurism was before this book? No. No I did not. Did I like it? Maybe. Ok, yes I did.
I love love love our sweet, caring, attentive husband Jake. The way he is towards everyone but especially his wife is so sweet. I love that he made sure his wife knew she was in control and to only do what she was comfortable with. He never pushed her, never made her feel like this was something she had to do. He is a 10/10 husband.
Our FMC Elena is a confident, strong, driven woman. She goes after what she wants and I love her and Jake together, they seem like the ultimate power couple. I love her character as a whole, her personality, her ambition towards her work and how she carries herself.
Christian Ford. Pheww. Hot, billionaire, single, perfect. What more could you actually want? I love his serious/take charge of everything demeanor when it comes to his company and his business with Elena. I love his grumpy but not actually personality because he does seem unapproachable at first glance.
All three of them TOGETHER??? Intense, hot, got me looking around to make sure no one knew what I was reading. I loved it. They fit together so perfectly and I never thought I would enjoy the mfm aspect but Berlin does it justice.
I have to put in here though, all plot and spicy scenes aside, my favorite character in the book was Cruz. A true definition of a ride or die friend. Has your back no matter the situation, can read the room when something is wrong. He was the best wing man and I absolutely adored him.
The plot was really interesting to follow (no it's not all spice) and kept me turning the pages to find out what happens next. The side plots of this story will keep you on your toes and you won't see it coming. Everything about this book came together really well, literally and figuratively, and I really enjoyed it overall.
If you need a clutching your pearls type of story with twists and turns, this is the one you need to read.

I picked it up because a book box company I follow did an edition for their "blind date with a book" series and my only regret is not having heard of it sooner.
Elena and Jake are married and have a "fantasy jar" where they write down little fantasies they have and they'll choose from the jar occasionally. One of Jake's fantasies is to watch Elena - so they plan to go to a bar and fulfill the fantasy. Both enjoy it immensely and of course, the mystery man ends up popping back up in their lives hehe.
What I truly love about this book is how important trust, consent, and communication are portrayed - in any romantic relationship they are of the utmost importance but they get especially important when you begin experimenting and moving into uncharted territory experience wise. Knowing that all three of them respect one another and any choices they make makes it all so much better.
I also love how they do consider what each person wants out of the relationship and set healthy boundaries and standards to keep everyone content and happy.
I love Elena, Jake, and Chris and honestly would love more stories about the three of them!

I’m not sure how I came across this book but I’m so glad I did! I’ve been in somewhat of a slump and this pulled me right out of it! I couldn’t put this book down, any chance I got to read I did.
Jake and Elena are married and Jake is wanting to explore their marriage in a not so traditional sexual way. And this is where Christian enters the chat…somewhat unknowingly lol And talk about hot🥵 The spice was already amazing with the two of them but between the three of them, it was definitely bumped up a notch or two lol
And it’s not just the spice that hit but the plot kept me entertained and wanting to know what happened next.
I have to say this was a unique approach to a voyeur kink within a marriage, it’s a trope/plot I haven’t read before and that was refreshing and kept me very interested throughout the entire book!!

The book was beyond amazing! I loved everything about it. I had been looking forward to it and it didn't disappoint. The vulnerability and honesty were key to the story and being able to enjoy all the naughty moments. The relationships were spicy and hot from the very beginning and never faltered. Each person was a puzzle piece to the most amazing story! I loved the background and growth of Jake and Elena's relationship. Jake was such a positive, supportive partner. Elena loved making him happy and reaping the benefits of exploring his fantasies. This book elicited all of my emotions. It was fast-paced, exciting, tempting and gave me all the goosebumps. All the spice was delicious but "Turn the camera on" 🥵. Holy sh!t I feel like personally, this could be my new roman empire! Bravo!

Oof. This is the first book I've read where our main couple is married. Going into this I wasn't sure how I'd feel about that but oh my hot this did not disappoint one bit. I literally could not put this down once I actually had a moment to myself to read. Our main couple Elena and Jake are so great together the way Jake loves her and makes sure she feels safe and in control is *chefs kiss* he's such a green flag. And then theres Chris and Elena their chemistry is intense. All three of them "together".. mind blown. that epilogue🥵. Elena's living her best life for sure lol. And we can't forget Cruz everyone needs a friend like him in their life ❤
Im excited for what could possibly be next from Berlin and can't wait to read more of her work❤

Let me start by saying that this was one of the most well written debut novels I have ever read. I am so impressed by Berlin Wick's talent. She did not pick an easy trope to roll with for her first book. The only poly books I have read that involved a married couple, their marriage was in crisis, but that was not really the case for Jake and Elena. I loved the idea of having a "fantasy jar" to pull from for ideas on things one or the other wanted to do but had trouble communicating. The dynamic of Jake, "Ellie" and Christian was so intriguing. Both guys were alphas but knew when the other needed control. They kept things simple and it never got messy in their throuple relationship. Elena's boss Bryan and her psycho coworker Matt were the absolute worst! Cruz Thomas aka Maverick is the best and he needs not only his own book, but probably his own series. I love him so much. Elena really is lucky to have so many men watching out for her and taking care of all of her needs. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read more from this author. Also, WE GOOD has a whole new meaning to me and that phrase does *things* to me.

The spice was HOT. The plot was tense. And Cruz is probably my favorite side character of all time.
The hatred I felt for Matt was unparalleled. I wanted to jump into the book and attack him myself. But I loved Elena, Jake, and Christian, and I loved their story.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would! It had me giggling and kicking my feet during spicy scenes and the men were so hot and obsessed with the FMC. The audiobook was delicious, the narrators did an amazing job bringing these characters to life!
The reason I’m giving it a 4 is because of a few reasons; the ending didn’t give us much between when they all got together, it kinda just went into the epilogue and all of sudden it was months later into their relationship etc. Another thing that bothered me was the FMC, she didn’t tell anyone anything… she got sexually harassed and decided to just put up with it instead of telling one of the guys, she also hooked up with Chris and didn’t tell her husband (Luke) when the whole situation was supposed to be on trust and always tell Luke when she does stuff with Chris. The plot was pretty predictable and I feel like so much could’ve been prevented if the FMC just said something.

I love when books focus on relationships with different dynamics, almost as much as I love a hot smutty book. (Eh, maybe more, it’s a toss up.) And this book excelled at both.
Right from the beginning there was an illicit hot wife fantasy and it rolled right into hotter smut. Then watching as all three characters navigated the new circumstances they found themselves in was highly entertaining.

This was a fun, fast and spicy read! Elena and Jake are looking to spice up their marriage by... opening things up. After Elena has a steamy encounter with a mystery guy, she never expects him to be her company's new high profile client. Let the drama and tensions begin!
I was hooked from the beginning. I love the sex positive message the book shares. I didn't love the 180 turn things took with her coworker because it felt like it escalated very quickly, and the "payback" at the end felt very icky. But I still had a fun time reading it and was pleasantly surprised to find out this is going to be an interconnected series! On to the next!

The Secrets We Hide by Berlin Wick jumps straight into the spice and never looks back. With a suspenseful plot and killer spice, this book is a fun and captivating read. I loved the dynamic between the main characters and enjoyed their chemistry. This is an MFM romance with a married couple who branch out to satisfy an interest in voyeurism. Branching out takes a turn with a handsome billionaire. This book does have some heavy themes so please check the content warnings.
The audiobook is narrated in duet by Branden Davis-Butler and Sean Masters. I have heard snippets of Branden’s narration before and have been impressed, but this was the first full-length performance of hers I’ve listened to. I loved it. She did a great job conveying the range of different emotions of the FMC. Sean never disappoints. He has great range and definitely delivered narrating the 2 MMCs. Sean's bloopers at the end were a treat that made for the perfect finish to a great audiobook.
