When circumstances take her back home, she learns things have changed…

★Review★

I loved this book so much more than I thought I would.

I had seen it recommended as being a bit similar to Kristen Ashley, which always makes me nervous, as I have yet to really love anything that has been recommended as having a KA feel.

And it did remind me a bit of KA, mixed with a bit of Linda Howard's Blair Mallory series (which I loved)

The heroine was something very refreshing in the romance genre. A woman with an active sex life, on her terms. She had a one month rule, in that, she would not have any "relationship" for longer than one month, and then only if she really liked him. One night was more her style.

But, she is a successful woman, in her twenties, had had her heart broken before, seen her friends have their heart broken and basically thought "screw that, men suck"

Men are liars. And shouldn't be trusted. They use their devil penis magic to hook you and before you know it they are mooching off of you and stealing your credit card. (no that didn't happen to me, but it totally could if I allowed myself to be ensnared by the penis magic)

Now fair warning, since having seen some comments on groups I am in about this, that this may bother some people, it does open with her having a one night stand - although I was giggling from the get go. I loved Ree and her thoughts and way she gets herself out of the situation.

This is the only stranger one night stand in the book - she meets the hero pretty soon after and moves back to her home town to help look after her Mom.

I personally, actually really liked that they had a female character that had an active sex life, on her terms. Refreshing in the romance genre. I get fed up of the virgin or near virgin female, and then the man who comes along ( who has slept around loads) and claims the virgin. Yet this same "hero" derides the females who have acted just like him, had a few sexual partners or one night stands. Treats them with scorn etc, or they are made out to be the "baddie". And I am supposed to want this misogynistic idiot to have a HEA. Urgh. But I digress.....

I was pretty much giggling throughout this entire book.

I loved how the relationship developed between Ree and Grayson. Loved them coming together as a couple and the banter between them.

Writing wise, at first, I felt it got a bit too over descriptive, especially when introducing a new character, we got a few little lines of introductory back story, which felt a little much, but by the end of this book, it has sort of just seeped into my brain, and I almost felt like I could have grown up in that town, knowing who was who in relation to other ppl.

And a couple of times, it did that thing, where it jumps forward a week or so, then recaps over what has happened in that week ( A KA thing for those that have read her) and once or twice I had to go back a couple of pages just to remind myself where we were in the story.

But with a book chock full of secondary characters that I would love to read more about, a great heroine and hero that I adored, and a funny, quirky, refreshingly modern, hugely entertaining read, I cannot wait to read more of this series.

I can see this joining the list of books I love to re read more than once.

I will make it short and sweet.

The humor?

Need an example?

His head drops and his mouth moves to my ear, his lips brushing against it, his tongue grazing against my skin while he says, “You would find nothing cruel about the way I would imprison you.”
Oh my God.
My ‘gina throbs sending a message to my, now, short circuited brain, “Get the penis! The penis is good!”
I’m pretty sure the ‘gina quiver is about to turn into a full blown seizure.
Fuck the shrink! Call the paramedics!

No, better call the shrink

On top of this, lots of things were described too detailed.

Which leads me to..

1.5 Why did this book have such a high rating?!?!

So, I have a bit of a book hangover. I've read something that I can't get over yet, so I said I'll take it slow, go with easy, fun stuff. I found this book, saw the high rating and not too bad plot, said I'd give it a try.
Well now, that was a mistake.

I can (almost) ignore all the grammar mistakes (and there are not a few, mind you). I won't stop reading a book, even though the author seems to have a problem with your/you're, I can almost say it's not her fault.

But the story is incredibly stupid! And the characters are idiots, especially the MC! Gahhhh! She's a really weak character and I normally don't like females like that. But well, we all have our weak side, right, that shouldn't be a problem. I would have finished the book if that was her only problem.
But she is an idiot. She's a 12 year old. She is... nope, just nope.
And he's not far behind either! I mean, even just to handle her, to actually like all the tantrums she throws at him. No self-respecting man (guy/person/animal/whatever) would be able to handle such a stupid person.

Why not just 1 star, and 1.5?
The first 10% of the book were decent. I would have given it -1 star if I had ended up finishing it, I'm pretty sure the MC would have gotten more and more annoying.

Well butter my buns and call me a biscuit! Ms. Spoon had me at the blurb with First and foremost being with the complete and astonishing overhaul and revamp of the Belton Police Department, where apparently the application was changed to state ‘Ugly Men Need Not Apply’ and the only requirement is ‘How Well Do You Look in This Uniform?’ This is a must read! 4.5 Coyote Ugly Stars

Ms. Spoon then also had me at the beginning of the first chapter.
God forbid I wake up the ogre next to me. Fuck! What the hell is wrong with me? Seriously! Does anybody have any suggestions? Answers...? No.....? Of course it would probably help if I didn't get shitfaced every weekend only to wake up and want to Coyote Ugly my fucking arm off.

Azaria “Ree” Gable lives by a “One Month Rule” not that anything really bad ever happened get her heartbroken and after that Ree decided no more and instated her rule. As her Mum had a stroke she is moving back to Belton to help out. On her last night in Des Moines she meets a tall, dark and handsome stranger.

How do I feel about Ree? Hmm, she is a pia (pain in the ass), a tad selfish, infuriating and at the beginning emotionally detached. But I love her kindness, her humor, snarky and sassiness, her being a nut and an absolute goof.

Just a little fact, I find it amusing to see how easily people are irritated one of my charms

The tall, dark and handsome stranger is no other than Grayson Cole, Chief of Police in Belton but Ree doesn’t know that yet. But she soon will.

How do I feel about Chief? Hmm, I loved him, I adored him and I want to have his babies. He is like a bulldozer when it comes to getting Ree. He could have kicked himself in the butt that he let Ree sneak out after nothing happening without getting her surname and number. It was clear to Grayson the night that they met how he felt.

The first night, listening to her ramble on, her honesty and her innocent view of the world, he knew she was the kind of sweet he hadn't known he was even looking for.

Ah fate is such a bitch or not. Ree can fight as much as she wants to but when Grayson pulls out the Babe all bets are off.

Babe. "Am I supposed to understand the meaning behind that one word, because I've gotta tell ya, Chief, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense."

The whole town gets to watch the getting together of Ree and Grayson. Ree is scared what with the “God dammed Devil Penis Magic” and those fucking flutters came back full force the minute she saw him. But she can’t resist but what makes it worse that he has everything she wants.

"A tattoo that fucking sexy. Special Forces. Chief of Police. You're a fucking panty melting trifecta."

And that there is something called love and that all men aren’t bastards.

These Holy Grails are rare as in never found. They live in our fantasies. We make them up and hold all other men up to this standard. They know what just women like and are very skilled at it. This is usually because they have been, or still are, a massive man-whore. If you can get that they have probably been with fifty women, you are in for a treat. They are men that make you weep because the sex is too good to be true. A man like Grayson Cole.

Amongst all this banter there is a plot to the story of a stalker and how things do work out for the better. And that the past can always come and bite you in the butt.

Grayson is so honest with Ree and that all men aren’t douches.

"He starts wondering what he can do to keep her around.....to make her happy....He realizes that he likes looking at her more than any other human being in the world."
"A man with a woman doesn't see her objectively, There is a filter there...." he looks back at me, his eyes coming into focus again, the corner of his lip turning up "or some kind of participatory illusion. He does not see what you see in the mirror," he runs the back of his hand own my cheek, causing me to notice that my breathing is erratic.
"He is seeing someone beautiful....and perfect...and sublime....It's one of the most powerful things in this life...."

Ms. Spoon did solid work in creating a great town with amazeball characters and for the characters soon to come. Some of Belton’s finest are Ryder Jacobsen, Declan Reid, Colt Evans, Chance Hayes, Blaine Owens and Koby Lewis. As well as about a dozen more here or surrounding counties. Also Ree has a bunch of great girlie friends.

Please give me Ryder and Kota’s book now.

I love this book. The writing style is similar to Kristen Ashley and I absolutely love her books. In most books it is the hero who was the man-whore, but in this one it is Ree who actually was the one who didn't want to settle down and would pickup men, but not be with them for more than a month. Usually she would sneak out the morning after. This is how she met Chief of Police Grayson Cole. The only thing that was a little bit of a puzzle for me was why Chief Cole was in Des Moine in the first place when he lived in Belton which is about 3 hours away.

I can't wait for the next book in the series. I kinda wish that I waited so I can read them one after the other because now impatient for the next books.

Just what I needed last night. A fun, quirky heroine, a man in uniform, a small town intent on playing cupid, a stalker and I'm all set. It did take me a while to get into the book, and I did have to get used to the heroine's way of thinking and the descriptions, but when the hero came into the action, all is good.

Readers who enjoyed Kristen Ashley's Rock chicks will like this one.

Perfect title to this book. It was just plain ugly. Too over the top for me. Did not like Ree. Her behavior got old pretty quickly. Too many good books out there now to put myself through this torture.

5 amazing, crying from laughing so much, stars!!

WoW! I laugh my ass of while reading this! I enjoyed it very much. It could be called light reading, cause author had interesting approach. There were serious situations but with light approach they seemed less difficult and i really liked that. Azaria ‘Ree’ Gable is a girl who has been burned in love and since then she sets up this rule where she protects her heart. That rule is called "One month" which means she can have relationship that lasts just one month or even one night and in the morning she sneaks out. That lasted until she meet gorgeous Chief of Police Grayson Cole. I won't write here what happens next, for that you need to buy this wonderful book and find out by yourself :) And trust me, it's worth every penny :)

What i liked was her relationship with her family. They all are carefree, kind, funny. And i loved that there are so many of them, brothers, sisters, kids, friends. And all of them had great relationship. There aren't mean bitches (well there was one but hahahaha you have to read that part specially). There aren't angst and sorrow, although i like good angst, sometimes you just need sweet read and that's what this book was.

This story had me cracking up and and could not put the book down until the ending!

OMG, I loved Azaria "Ree", she is so blunt, no filter what so ever. She has what most any 27 years old woman would love to have, a great job, family, and friends. There is just one thing missing in her life, a relationship.

Ree is the "one night stand" type of woman, all because she is scared of getting hurt. She had one burn that changed her mind on the whole relationship thing.

Being at the right place, right time, she meets Greyson Cole. HELLO SWOON!!!!
Greyson or, aka "Chief", which read the story to find out why.....

Both Ree and Greyson have a connection that is once in a lifetime love. Hello, Ree, he had my heart, open yours and see what you have in front of you! That's what you are thinking while reading...

Can Ree let her guard down and open up to Greyson?

One of my favorite lines in the story is the fact Greyson tells her, "You're a Nut", and he is right, she is.....

The is a 5 star Swoon worthy read!!! I can't wait what is next from Jessica!!!

I know I must have some serious OCD or something, that being said was the only reason I finished this book. I can't believe I did that to myself. Not only did this book urk the hell out of me but it made sleepy too. I would like you guys and this is just my oppion if you wanna read something simular. Check out A.J. Bennett's "Now or Never" and "Truth or Dare". Now all the cons of this book and if you don't like spoiler's stop now.

1-She described ever Hillbilly of Belton. I mean come on, and she actually said they were hill billies lmao!!!
2-Chief Cole ex soldier brings his whole squad back from the war. It was atleast 6 guys that she described.
3-The tension of Ryder and Kota I mean I was reading a sub story with a sub sub story. No hinting to make us a little curious about the next book.
4-Oh and don't let me get started on the artichoke dip recipe at the flipping end of the book.

Geez I feel so robbed!!!

This book was LOL funny! I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put this one down. Ree’s introduction was hilarious and it was cool to see a female character unapologetic about her one night stands. The storyline, sexual tension, and steamy scenes were all great. The hero Grayson was totally yummy as well as the rest of the Special Forces Sex Squad. Seriously there were a lot of characters and sometimes I feel overwhelmed by that but it didn’t bother me. Ms. Spoon made all of the characters really interesting and I am excited to get to know more about them in future books.

The book does have a definite KA feel to it and at times it was a little too obvious. Ms. Spoon has a great voice and talent. The bones of the story have a KA feel but all the KAism’s were not needed so I hope this it toned down a bit in future books. There is enough greatness in this book without it.

I will note that if it bothers you the book does need to be cleaned up with a good editor. There were typos/grammar errors, formatting issues, and misuse of words. Just one small example towards the end a character says Boo Yeah! I believe this was supposed to be BOOYAH! I personally don’t let this affect my rating because I grade the story itself.

I am really looking forward to the next book and I wish it was ready RIGHT NOW! I know that I would devour it.

2 stars = It's ok
Review of Kindle ebook purchased in June, 2015

Cute little romance with a stalker thrown in.

Basically, a standard-formula romance story, throw in the h's good-looking girlfriends, match them up with a hunky, smallish town police force of ex-special forces guys, throw in a little suspense, and lovable small-town side characters. And good cooking, I like that.

That's all good for me!

A MATTER OF BALANCE...

This book was funny for a while, until the coarseness of the h, Ree (Azaria), really wore off. Spitting coffee all over (multiple times) and being more foul-mouthed and crude than any guy in a book is not endearing, IMHO. It just becomes irritating. Almost DNF'd at about 40%. Sheesh! Tone it down some.

Even though Ree was sweet and had really good qualities in general, I found it difficult to reconcile her family and education with her coarseness and lack of self-control. I just didn't believe it.

I might read book 2 because that couple has a very compelling back-story. But, I will be sure to read the sample first, just in self-defense because Dakota is almost as gross as Ree.

Anyway, this is a good writer and I encourage her in her future efforts. I also bought her book 'Darkness Deserved' (in the tbr group).

Three Stars

I liked this well enough, but I didn't think it was anything fantastic. The heroine, Ree, was funny and likable, but she got really annoying at times -- especially when she kept using the term 'gina...it was used often and it got old very fast. The Hero, Greyson, was hot and sexy, but the reasons behind why he kept pursuing Ree was a bit lame. It seemed like the author was just making up a reason just to have a reason. I don't know how else to explain it. I am, however, looking forward to Ryder and Kota's story...now THAT story has some meat to it and I'm anxious to read it.

I have a new phrase I hate and it is "‘gina quiver". It was used a lot in this story and even using it once is too many times.
The story had great potential, but you can tell it is a newer author. I'll read the next in the series as I'm sure the writing will become better as they go.
I also wasn't a huge fan of Ree. I like funny people, but not people who feel the need to say they are funny all the time. She was a bit too annoying for me and not cute and perfect as everyone described her to be.

This was such a unexpectedly refreshing read. Sometimes you read a book blurb and cautiously go into it wondering if you made the right choice. With this book I definitely did. By 10% I had already laughed out loud several times so I knew I was going to enjoy this.

Azaria (Ree) has one rule when it comes to guys, she will never invest more than one month of her time into them. She does not do relationships and love is definitely not on her radar. She has perfected the art of quietly slipping out of a guys bed the morning after and doing the run of shame. On her last night out drinking, before she moves back to her hometown of Belton to be closer to her family, she has one final fling with a seriously hot guy she meets in a bar. She wakes up in his bed fully dressed and is gutted she never actually 'experienced' him, then proceeds to sneak away.

Belton hasn't changed much, it's a small town where everyone knows everyone, nothing is a secret and they love to jump on any juice bits of gossip. One thing that has changed however is the handsomeness of the police there. It's like they all walked off the cover of GQ magazine, I mean they 're seriously good looking with buff bodies and have obvious alpha hormones flowing through them all.

Ree walks smack back into one of them in town one day, when she eventually makes eye contact with him she realises she has met him before. One of her recent sleepovers. Turns out he is the new Police Chief and he is freaking gorgeous. He wants Ree and is blatant about it. The whole town is watching too, hopeful that Grayson (Chief) and Ree get together.

I love the way he calls her 'babe' , how much he just completely wants her and how open he is about his feelings for her. Ree is doing everything she can to not fall for Grayson's charm but it turns out that he is just too irresistible.

'I feel.... I don't know... something deep for Grayson. Like there is this string that connects us. It's fragile, yet powerful. And it keeps me here. In his arms. It makes me want to be here.' - Ree

There are so many funny moments in this story, I laughed a lot. Ree calls her lady parts her 'gina and often refers to it when she is describing how Grayson affects her. I love how alpha Grayson is and how right from day one he set his sights on Ree and decide she was his. Ree just needs to play catch up so she can see it too. She needs to let go of all of her assumptions about men and just feel what Grayson is offering up for her. If she can do this then just maybe there will no more coyote ugly life and she can find true happiness with one man forever.

I really enjoying this refreshingly different story and give it four stars

This book is about the life of Azaria "Ree" Gable, and how she has chosen to live it. At the age of 27, she is a "sleep with a man once type of girl" and then never again, unless they are exceptional, and they can last up to a month, and then she is on to the next one. She thought she was in love as a young girl but when it did not work out it broke her heart and she never wants to feel that way again, so this is how she conducts herself. Ree works as a graphic artist, and does it from her home. She lives the big city life, and has a close group of friends, and a wonderful family life as well.

After a call from her family, she decides to move back home to Belton, into a little house temporarily so she can be there to help her mom out who had a brush of ill health. Ree loves her family and is very protective of them. Belton is a small town with the typical attitude of everyone gossiping and getting to know your business. However wild Ree was as a child, the whole town loves her! With the aid of an older woman who used to stick up for Ree, and cover up her wild child behavior- life has always been good for Ree! However sometimes one's behavior attracts the wrong kind of person and unknown to Ree, that is exactly what she has done.

While Ree has been gone the town has changed dramatically and one of the changes is all the hot new men in the police department which used to be comprised of the same old men; not anymore! Someone changed the application to say-
‘Ugly Men Need Not Apply’ and the only requirement is ‘How Well Do You Look In This Uniform?’ Shocking but true all the officers are ex military, special forces and hot! As Ree says her "gina-quiver inducing was caused by the chief of police Grayson Cole and she tries to avoid him at all costs as she does not want to take the risk of breaking her number one rule! The chase ensues and you will have to see what happens by reading the book!

This book was highly entertaining and all the characters were well developed, and the language was colorful but hilarious! Ree is in a situation she never has been in before-she has fallen in love and although she wants to be with Grayson, she is afraid. Everyone in the town rallies behind Grayson, to make sure this event occurs, including her mom! When something bad happens, it is a good thing neighbors can be so nosy, as it helps with the outcome!

I gave this book 5 stars and look forward to more books by this author!

My Coyote Ugly Life begins with us getting to see the Coyote Ugly Life of Azaria 'Ree' Gable. The problem is maybe she's not exactly excited about her so called "life" anymore. Not only that, but when she moves back home to help her mom out more since she had a mini stroke, she never expected to see one of her one night stands that didn't happen in front of her.

But he's not just some guy in town, he's actually the Chief of Police Grayson Cole. And he doesn't want to let her go. He will do everything in his power to show Ree that her rules should go out the window.
Especially when they find out someone may be out there to hurt her.

This book was really good! I enjoyed the whole plot line, and I loved Ree and Chief together! I also loved each of them by themselves as well. I thought Ree was really different, and I loved how out going she was. And I also loved how macho alpha male Chief was! It was the perfect match.

The only thing I didn't like about the story was, it felt like the whole Ree being in danger thing didn't take a huge part of the book. I understand if that's really how it was suppose to be, but because it was like that, when those times came around that it felt we should be afraid for Ree I didn't really feel it, because there wasn't much suspense about it.

Other then that I loved the story, and I look forward to reading more in this series. Especially about all of the 'Hot Police!'

What a refreshingly funny read this was!! Was this book perfect? No. But it had me hooked from start to finish, and has left me wanting more books.

Ree (short for Azaria) Gable is a late twenties party animal semi-slut. She takes guys home, does the deed, and sneaks out in the night before they wake up. Ree is moving home to her hometown in Iowa, from Des Moines. Before she moves back, she ends up hammered and "coyote uglied" (for those of you unfamiliar with the term, it's when you wake up next to a stranger with your arm stuck underneath them, trying to remove your arm without waking said stranger). Once back in her hometown, she literally runs into the man she left in the middle of the night - and he's pissed about it.

Grayson Cole, alpha male, Chief of Police, didn't appreciate Ree ditching out in the middle of the night on him. Once he realizes she lives in his town, he sets out to make her his. Hilarity ensues.

The "supporting cast" in this book is great. Ree's best friends are hilarious. Her parents and siblings are great. The other cops are great. The only thing that didn't make sense was what happened with Ree at the end (I won't spoil it). It was semi unnecessary and came out of left field. But the rest of the story was great, and I hope there are at least 6 more!!

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

This is a really good, fun story, with a great plot which I enjoyed a lot. However, I have to admit that the over description of stuff, and people did distract me somewhat. I am afraid that I don't really care about the layout of a room, unless it impacts on the story; I don't care about the colour of someone's clothing every time they get dressed; and I definitely don't need everyone's life story, unless it comes out in conversation. These things did not stop me enjoying what is a funny, cute and sexy book. The characters are vibrant, entertaining and the drama is described well. But you should be aware of the writing style, in case it is an issue for you. Don't miss out on a good story though, just be patient!

At first Ree got on my nerves BIG time, but then I fell in love with her. Chief Cole….how could you NOT instantly fall in love with him? Holy smokes! The whole police department was a dream! This story was funny, sweet and had just a little drama to it. It was refreshing and fun and I can’t wait to see what is in store for the rest of the series. I only hope we will see more Ree and Grayson.

I received a copy of this story to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Ree lives her life the only way she knows how. To keep herself from ever being hurt again, once in her life was enough. After years of one night stands and a few relationships that didn't last longer than a month, she moves back home to help her mom after she had a stroke. When she meets Chief Cole. She met him a few nights before and can't believe that he is in her home town. And he wants more than a one night stand with her. he wants a relationship that will last more than a month. This is a great story that will have you laughing and crying. It is funny, heartfelt and with a little suspense thrown in. I was glued from the beginning and to the very last word.

Thanks to my girl Steph for the rec. I really adored Grayson, loving how he never wavered and wouldn't back down from showing Ree how love was meant to be. Ree had to grow on me..but when she realized in the end how her life was before Grayson I felt better about her. I can't wait to see what this author will have in store for us.

As I found this book on a list with "Books with a KA flavor", I knew what I was getting into. I've said it before, I'll say it again, some author who find inspiration in KA books does it well, some not so much.

I'm still confused about this book, and I don't know if I like it or not.
I don't know what to think about the heroine and her slutty "Coyote ugly life". I don't know if this was too much, or I'm just being sensible some topics.

I only know that sometimes I laughed, sometimes I really wanted to throw my e-reader on the window, and in the end I don't want to keep reading this series.

But who knows, maybe I'll change my mind...

This story was such a fun ride.

The heroine, Azaria better known as Ree is a commitment phobe. Yes, she has been around the block and was definitely a wild child. She's spunky, smart, stubborn, and I can totally see her hanging out with my group of friends. Needless to say, I really liked her spirit.

Grayson Cole is a gentleman, Alpha and hawt hawt hawt. He met Ree, liked her, was pissed when she snuck out on him and was on her tail when they met once again. Umm, did I mention that he is the Chief of Police with a newly formed squad of ex-Special Forces hotties?

I love the banter. Her crazy family, friends and the other characters in the story.

This is the first time I have read of any of the author's work and it will sure not be the last.

This book was such an unexpected surprise! It had all of my favorite things - a hot alpha male, a sassy girl, great family and friends, just a hint of suspense, moments that made me laugh and of course there were some scorching hot sex scenes. Putting it all together, made this book grab me and suck me in. I think some of the best moments were Ree and her inner monologue. She truly was a "nut" - in all the best ways. What makes me even happier that I took the time to read this book - Ree and Grayson both have a lot of friends that I am sure that we are going to get some more stories from - and I am really looking forward to more from this series and author!!

Really good

I really enjoyed this story and liked the authors voice. Her characters felt real and I could relate to their lives because they were just like one of us.

Both main characters were lovable and I enjoyed watching their connection grow. Lots of steamy bits with some laughs as well.

I can see there will be some interesting hookups with their friends and I think Blaine's story will be the one I am looking forward to the most.

There were some spelling and grammar mistakes but I was able to get past them.

Will definitely be reading more from this author.
