Now he must keep Shoni safe, but things start to get complicated when his protective instincts start turning into sexual attraction.
I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.
No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.
I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.
I have read every book by Laurann Dohner because I love them all, but this one was just so so. I didn’t like that so much of the book had the two main characters telling their friends about what they did that day, it felt repetitive. There just wasn’t enough interaction and story line between the two main characters. Don’t get me wrong, I will definitely look for her next book because I love everything she does. However, this time, I was just a bit disappointed.
Sort of boring story. Very little action and too much talking side characters unnecessarily. Still enjoyable as a palette cleanser at the very least. The sex between the characters was nice enough but lacked any of the real intensity of nearly all the other books in the series. I’m disappointed in Chaz’s story as it was just too easy. Nothing happened to keep me coming back for a reread. Oh well. I hope a few of the other characters get their books but I won’t hold my breath, especially as the series is going stale. Good luck.
Shoni just had the worst day of her life when her fiancé left her at the alter for someone else. Sitting in the hotel bar/restaurant drinking her sorrows away. Chaz was on an assignment and had a meeting the next morning. He just happened to be staying at the one decent Hotel in the small town. Not a very social person all he wanted was a drink and a good meal and sleep.
While sitting in his booth he spotted Shoni and not on purpose could hear her conversation with the jerk she was supposed to marry. As Shoni got up to leave her legs were a little loopy LOL. Chaz quickly grabbed her so she wouldn't fall. The was something about Shoni that peaked Chaz's interest and he assisted her to the elevator and was going to walk her to her room. Well then ended up going to his room and he ordered coffee on room service to try and sober her up. OMG this part was so funny. Shoni thinking she was just thinking in her head how hot Chaz was amongst some other things when in reality she was saying them out loud. I laughed so hard. Realizing what she did she quickly tried to get out of the room and to hers.
Not giving too much away Chaz saw her the next morning and could here everything her step-monster was saying to her and he also heard what her favorite cousin Ember dished right back at her. Chaz heard enough and he wanted to get her away from that hostile saturation so he approached their table made some remarks and helped Shoni up out of her chair. As he's walking her out of the restaurant he laid a juicy yummy kiss on her. That's all you get from me. You need to grab this read and find out how it all plays out. I loved it. I loved Chaz (even though he was hard headed and tried to convince himself he was not ready for a mate) to Ember who was really a tough little cookie and of course Shoni who ended up having a lot of surprises thrown at her. You'll really love this read. I see room for another book. Maybe Ember's who will she end up with Drillon? Nah maybe Chaz and Fray's Dad? Possibility I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Chaz has come to town to handle a pack that is thinking about trying to take his uncle’s territory. But he has a interesting thing happened while getting a drink and dinner. He overhears a woman having a conversation on her phone with a lowlife ex how dumped her just before the wedding. Shoni is getting drunks and doesn’t know someone can hear. She runs into Chaz again when he is getting on to the elevator she darts in to not be seen by her family. He try’s to help her by taking her to his room an ordering coffee but she gets embarrassed and leaves.but the next morning Chaz overhears her step mother saying bad things to her and he plays like they have know each other awhile and now they can be more then just friends. But things are about to change big time because that other pack think she his mate and they kidnapped her to use against him. But what she see will cause more trouble Chaz will have to protect her. That’s when they get close then something happens to make a bigger problem. So enjoy the read and see all that happens to these two!!
Fun book. Shoni and Chaz have great chemistry and much of their interactions came across as realistic. She is cute and quirky and just what the big bad Garlycan needs in his life. He is strong, both mentally and physically and is a take no nonsense kinda guy which is exactly what she needs. They are a perfect pair.
I enjoyed Corlin and Ember as well and would love to read more about them in the future. Ember is in the perfect place and I am certain will find the right man for her. And Corlin needs to find a woman who can help him rebuild the strength and honor of his pack. Those would be great stories.
3.5 stars. Book was fun and engaging. However, when compared to Laurann’s earlier New Species and Cyborg stories, this one pales. Chaz is definitely in the right direction. I would recommend any book by Laurann Dohner.
Now I can't wait for the next in the series. Ember promises to be a spit fire that would give any Gargoyle a run for his money. Pity the one who sets his site on her. Alligators are always looking for food or sleeping. I certainly wouldn't wish my worse enemy to have the urge to wrestle one, or would I? Why not let nature take care of evil people? I give this book a 5 star of fun and adventure and romance. Should I go on? If you don't understand this review, I guess you will just have to read the book to figure it out.
Chaz is staying at a nice hotel when he hears Shoni for the first time. He entered the bar for dinner. They meet again at breakfast when he rescues her from a nasty step mother. Chaz winds up meeting with a bad pack alpha. It did not go well. It turned deadly when lycan dragged Shoni in. Chaz likes Shoni. For her safety he stays with her at her condo. Chaz is determined not to mate. Ember, Shoni's cousin/best friend is hilarious!! And dangerous! Can't wait for her book!!!!! Loved it!!!!
Chaz brings all the sexiness to his story. Fray made you wish for a GarLycan to swoop in and save Delbiusaz makes you want him to never let you go. I knew I would love Chaz’s story but it was so much more. The interaction between him and Shoni from before she even knew him just pulls at all the heart strings. This tough bad guy who fights for everyone who can’t fight for themselves. If there was ever an alpha male to be your next book boyfriend. Chaz is definitely it. Now the question is who will be the next book Ember or Delbius.
I think Chaz is my favorite out of all the books and I hope it's not the end of the series. Shoni is dumped at the altar by her cheating fiance. When she has to attend a breakfast with her family, her evil stepmother is very disrespectful to her. When Chaz was at a restaurant, he overheard Shoni on the phone and heard her distress. Then Chaz did something very chivalrous. Chaz walked up to Shoni at the breakfast and pretended to be her new boyfriend. When he kissed her, she about melted. And so starts Shoni and Chaz's romance, full of action, danger and steamy romance.
Okay this book was so good! Chaz was not one of my favorites in the past book But he's totally won me over now and Shoni is so cute! Now, her cousin Ember just flat out cracks me up. I really hope that she ends up being Kelsep's mate but I am excited to see who will be her mate! Another slam dunk! This whole series is so good.I even bought it on audible so I can keep listening to the book like watching a movie.
I always look forward to reading a VLG story! So many characters to read about. Chaz and Shoni's story did not disappoint! I love that Chaz and his twin, Fray are both mated.
Lots of action to match the hot romance! A good read! I will be waiting patiently for the next addition to this series.
That story was all over the place. Between wedding guests, the dysfunctional Wolf Pack, a indecisive GargoyleLycan and other non human folks with their own agency's to mess things up. Shining just rolls with it all. Wish we spent more time at the cliffs interacting with the clan. Great story. Love Ember.
I loved Chaz & Shoni! This was another great one. I couldn’t put it down. It had me from the beginning to the end. Chaz was a little stubborn but finally got some sense. LOL Loved it and look forward to the next one.
I love this series. This book may be my favorite. I love the cliff stories most. There are so many interesting characters. I am hopeful more stories happen here. Ember especially is so interesting. I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I have!
