YOU’RE NOT ALONE IN THIS
The story is a contemporary Western shifter book. It mostly takes place in Montana and Texas, The Copper Canyon Ranch is on the outskirts of Austin and is owned by the Savage family with Colton Savage as head of the family—along with brothers, Bryce and Landon.
Sable Morse, along with her family and pack are in their wolf forms moving a herd of Mustangs when there are gunshots, and the family is taken down—all except Sable, who is injured by escapes. This wasn’t a random act, it was intentional and deadly. She will have to start over, find a secluded place, build shelter, capture Mustangs, train, and sell them. She has one she calls Ghost which is her horse. They train hard, barrel racing, as a means of income because it will take money and her tenacity to hunt down the hunters and eliminate them, one by one.
“The hunters had taken everything from her—her family, her pack, her home—but they hadn’t taken her will. She would survive. She would rise from this, stronger and more ruthless than ever.”
Bryce Savage is a bronc rider and does well at rodeos. Along the circuit, he will watch Sable Morse and her Mustang Ghost win barrel races. Sable is a loner, she doesn’t hang out with others in the rodeo—she enters, races, wins, and stays to herself. But one night, Sable and Bryce will be at the same bar—and it will lead to more.
“Bryce knew one thing for certain. Sable wasn’t just another competitor. She was the beginning of something he couldn’t ignore.
Bryce: You rode like a demon out there. That time of yours was near perfect.
Sable: You weren’t too bad yourself. Second place is nothing to scoff at.
Bryce: I don’t settle for second.
Sable: Then maybe you should try harder.
Bryce: You always this feisty, or do I just bring out the best in you?
Sable: Something tells me you prefer feisty.
Bryce: Careful. You’re playing with fire.
Sable: Good thing I like the heat.
Bryce: Come with me.
Sable: Just like that?
Bryce: Just like that. Tell me if I’m wrong, Sable. Tell me to stop.
Sable: I won’t.
The story is mystery, suspense, life and death danger, and two mates who are trying to traverse a new relationship—one that Sable never wanted. Sable is in revenge mode, and Bryce is in protection mode, but willing to help her, and try to keep her alive. She is taking down the hunters, one by one, but searching for the ring leader. It won’t be easy, but Bryce asks her to trust him—to allow him, and his resources to help do this the right way. Taking her to Copper Canyon he lays out what could be a reality—one with them working together—training Mustangs, building up a herd to use in rodeos with broncs and bulls.
“Look around, Sable. This place—it’s not a prison. It’s a chance. A chance to build something new. To take what they tried to destroy and turn it into something stronger. We’re in this together, Sable. Whether you like it or not.”
The story was an action-packed, page-turning tale with the good, the bad, and the ugly of people. It is heartbreaking for Sable to be the only one left of her pack, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a future—because the Savage family welcomes her with open arms. It was fun watching all three Savage men find their mates.
“Something worth fighting for.”
